I visited Los Angeles, maybe being the second time just about last month mid August; originally visiting and staying with a friend residing in Long Beach being a nice area to get away. Anyway we decided on stopping by this bar and from what my friend said; this is the tallest building- if not one of the tallest. So, if you're visiting LA no matter first time or not, please do stop by here. It is worth the parking and a bit of hassle to get here. First off find parking at the garage of this same building being the intercontinental; or doesn't have to be the same parking garage however it's more convenient. I think we went to the very bottom and took a series of elevators. Your best bet is to ask hotel staff where to go; my friend said he got lost when he came here for the first time for some Christmas business party. If I can recall we took 2-3 elevators but could be wrong - one of the elevators will shoot up high pretty quick but it's still a calm and pleasant ride it's just the floor counter accelerates damn fast and you somewhat feel it. So we got off the 2nd to last elevator and it was high enough maybe 69-70th floor and there's signs to point to spire 73. Took the last elevator and there we arrived. Mind you we were in shorts (me in khaki cargo ) and I had worn some Adidas running shoes - had a graphic tank top BUT a short sleeve casual dress up maroon shirt fully unbuttoned. I don't think there's strict dress code but simply no gang attire nor colors. Seen folks even in jeans and boots but a dress shirt. Walked around to the window and admired the fire-tables. This is a good place to chill, drink and socialize. Take your date out on here and stand by the windows and look down on the city skyline. We went to the bar and had a couple martinis and just sat at a table and drank. Then heard a helicopter come up and was at eye level seeing the the crowd and blinked its spotlight and we all waved and cheered; yeah that's how high we're up. Pretty cool chill crowd; I think I seen a couple of kids like maybe in elementary school age with their father - so maybe there's no age limit and we were there around 9-10pm. Yea.. I miss this place already I miss Long Beach, Los Angeles, Hollywood... Now I'm back in Stucktown CA, northern Cali. Sighhhh but making this a yearly summer thing to visit and definitely will stop by here again.
Spire 73 delivers exactly what you'd hope for from one of the highest rooftop restaurants on the West Coast -- the views over LA are absolutely extraordinary, especially as the sun goes down. It genuinely feels like one of the best vantage points in the city. Our server Fernando made the night. He was incredibly charming, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of at every turn; the kind of service that elevates the whole experience. Gold Star for him. Pricing is steeper than it should be no question, and you're paying a premium for the spectacular views and just cus it's the intercontinental and it is what it is But for a special occasion or a night out you want to remember, it's worth it at least once. I came here to celebrate my cousin's 50th birthday, and it was a great experience overall. Once you figure out how to get to the rooftop, you're rewarded with spectacular views overlooking Los Angeles. The panoramic skyline is absolutely breathtaking and definitely worth the visit. We ordered the truffle fries and four drinks, which came to about $170. It was definitely on the pricey side, but the service was attentive, and the incredible views made it worthwhile. The only thing I felt was missing was music. Having some background music would have really elevated the ambiance and made the rooftop feel even more lively. Overall, I'd still recommend it for the views, special occasions, or a nice evening out.
We spent $125 to be an ice cube on the 73 floor in the Intercontinental. Dress like an Eskimo if you plan to eat there because the heat lamps and fire won't make up how cold it is. I saw these poor women with their scantily clad outfits wondering how they'd survive up there. I was dressed with 2 hoodies and still was freezing. **Warning that you will be charged 18% gratuity with no option to remove it. It seems like all of the restaurants on this property have the same 18% gratuity. The food was subpar. We got the spire burger $32 which was the best dish of the night. The ahi poke tostadas $24 were ok, but it was oily and difficult to eat. The Caesar salad $18 was a huge portion but tasted strange. I thought it was ok, but my fiance hated the meal. The sundae was huge $24, with 4 huge scoops of vanilla ice cream with pineapple bits, pumpkin seed brittle, coconut shavings and cherries. We had to send back the cheesecake as it didn't taste appetizing. Service was decent, but the hostess first sat us at a table without a heat lamp which was miserable. Then we asked the wait staff if we could move to a seat near the fire. Literally dinner on ICE!!!!
Every LA native should come here at least once in their life for the breathtaking views. I believe it's one of the highest spots in DTLA (if not the highest), and you can see everything from the Hollywood sign and Griffith Park down to every other high rise through DTLA. Highly recommend making a reservation around sunset for golden hour!! It's absolutely beautiful. The food here is alright, nothing special and really expensive. They have a large assortment of drinks as well. Perfect for a date night. If I were to come here again, I would just come for drinks and the view.
Still my favorite bar in DTLA. Delicious drinks! It's always a chill vibe. Breathtaking views! This place is always a good date bar since you can watch the sunset, and watch the city light come alive! Service was typical -- they take your order and bring it back. Super chill and relax, they do t bother you too much or try to rush you out. Fun fact: this building is the tallest building on the west side of the Mississippi River. (although it kinda cheats because of the spire.) LOL
Because this is a very LA thing to do, I had to go to the top of the Intercontinental to check this place out. And you get what you would expect - beautiful views of the LA skyline on a clear day, gorgeous sunsets and clear. night skies. Now what isn't really as advertised (and to their credit they earn you) is the wind factor when you get up there. Even on a temperate night it gets windy up here! I think it does have a bit to do that you are over 73 stories up and how the aerodynamics work up there but be prepared with a jacket for sure. And thus translates into why they have the menu that they do at Spire. I wondered why it was a simpler bar bites and burger menu... then when I saw my tostadas and Caesar almost fly away, I got it... you've got to eat fast. And they did tell me at a prime time reservation at 6:30 that I have a 90 minute time to enjoy dinner. I don't think with how cold I got that I would have wanted to stay longer to be honest. Service was pretty good, George my server was really pleasant - he recommended the tostadas and I really liked them. For the price it's pretty expensive, with a mocktail, the tostadas and a salad starter it was $80 for one person but you're paying for some killer views and since I was there for sunset it was pretty spectacular. Was I glad I did this once? Yes. Would I do this again? Maybe not. But if I was here for a party or event, I'd check it out. There are just other places I've been globally where rooftops have been a bit more of an experience (and definitely less windy!)
Came here for the Fourth of July and it was an incredible skyline view of all of Los Angeles during the fireworks! The food was good, I highly recommend the table side s'mores. What a fun summer treat! Our service was also prompt and friendly. I will say since reopening there isn't much detail on the restaurant itself outside of the information on the hotels website. Whether or not there is a dress code, directions to the restaurant, and parking are all unclear and could be included on the website or in the reservation confirmation email.
cute views but won't be here again! overrated because for the price, the food was honestly lacking. they removed a lot from their menu as well, so nothing was actually filling. they were no pictures unfortunately for their menu. service was very nice & our waitress was super sweet! give my sister a raise.
Spire 73 has incredible views of DTLA, watching the sunset from up here is breathtaking. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance if you want a table, otherwise, there's a bar area and two couches available on a first come, first served basis. The place can get crowded, but the vibe is great, the drinks are solid, and the bartenders are really friendly. A cool fact I learned, it's the tallest open air rooftop bar in the Western Hemisphere. They play music, but I do wish they had a DJ to give it more of a party vibe, though I think they prefer to keep things more chill.
Great place, if you are looking for a place with the best view of Los Angeles, this is the place ti be, the sunset was great, the food really tasty and the ambiance was great, had a good time with my husband, drinks were really good too, will definitely go back. Fast and friendly service.
I ended up coming here pretty spontaneously and didn't really know what to expect, but it turned out to be such a cool spot. The biggest highlight is definitely the view -- you're at the top of one of the tallest buildings in Los Angeles, and seeing the city from that height feels kind of unreal, especially closer to sunset. I ordered a drink and was pleasantly surprised -- it wasn't just "good for the view," it was actually well made and refreshing. The whole place has a relaxed vibe, nothing too fancy or intimidating, which made it easy to just enjoy the moment. Also, getting in was way easier than I thought. No complicated process or long wait, which is rare for places with views like this in LA. I'd definitely come back, especially to bring someone who hasn't seen the city from this perspective yet
Been to the InterCon DTLA a few times but finally got around to trying The Spire tonight - and it did not disappoint. The food itself isn't "fine dining" level, but it's definitely good, satisfying, and worth the trip. We definitely enjoyed it; but alas, didn't have enough room for dessert. What really makes this place stand out are the unbeatable views of LA and, even more rare these days, the genuinely friendly service. Both the manager and staff went out of their way to make the night special - kudos to the whole team, and a special shout-out to Gerry! Our teenage boys couldn't join us this time (homework duties called), but I know they would've loved it too. Tip for diners: An 18% gratuity was automatically added to our bill. Not a problem for us, but definitely worth noting so you're not caught off guard - read the fine print. All in all, a memorable evening with great food, stellar service, and those one-of-a-kind LA skyline views.
The views are great especially if you get an amazing sunset. The windows were a bit dirty so trying to capture a nice picture was challenging. The drinks weren't great. NA cocanela was not good. I didn't like the combo of coconut and cinnamon. The NA peachwood elixir was made with passionfruit instead of peach because they were out of peach. It was tasty, but it got too sweet after a while. $19 a drink +18% automatic gratuity is pretty overpriced. All the tables had reserved signs on them for guests dining. Bar seating is open but you don't get to enjoy the view. It's a nice place to enjoy if you're staying in the hotel, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get to this bar. read more

I highly recommend making a reservation in advance if you want a table, otherwise, there's a bar area and two couches available on a first come, first served basis. This was my second time at Spire 73, but my first time writing a review. Honestly, the views alone could make this a 5-star experience--they're absolutely breathtaking, especially during sunset with the downtown skyline in the background. Unfortunately, I had to knock off a star because of a couple things. First, even though my husband and I had 7pm reservations and arrived early at 6:50pm, we weren't seated until 7:30pm. That really cut into our evening since we had other plans at 9:30pm, and it forced us to rush through dinner instead of fully enjoying the experience. Second, while I get that hotel guests have access, I really didn't like the idea of parents bringing their kids to dine on the rooftop. When you're trying to enjoy a date night atmosphere, having little kids hanging around feels out of place. After a certain time, it would be nice if it were adults-only. On the brighter side, the food and drinks were excellent! We ordered the Honey Garlic Shrimp and the Bacon-Wrapped Jerk Chicken Skewers--both packed with flavor and absolutely delicious (I could have easily ordered seconds). I also tried the Smokey Paloma during their Sunset Hour special (7:30-8:30pm, cocktails for $15), which was refreshing and well-made. For dessert, I had the Pineapple Upside Down Cake. It was good, but not particularly memorable. Spire 73 is definitely the kind of place perfect for a date night, girls' night out, or celebrating something special. The atmosphere and views are unmatched, but just be prepared for potential delays in seating--and maybe the occasional surprise of kids in what otherwise feels like an adult-only vibe. read more
Had a wonderful evening here. Spire73 is a gorgeous rooftop overlooking all of Los Angeles. Make a reservation in advance if you want a guaranteed good seat. They were accomodative of changing our reservation time. We got drinks - all of which were awesome. Patrick was absolutely amazing - he made the experience that much better. He was so attentive to detail, helped us navigate the menu. Huge shout out to Patrick and his hospitality. Will definitely be returning - would love to see more vegetarian options on the menu! read more

We dined for the 4th July dinner , everything was great an amazing Birds Eye view for fireworks was great. Only that we had to wait approximately 11/2 hours for our table even though we had reservations, which I guess was as everyone wanted to be next to the window. Other than that we enjoyed the food,views and drinks. Will definitely try again and see if the wait time is the same or was it only due to 4th July. read more

Was staying at the Intercontinental and decided to check out the views and drinks at Spire 73. The views are 10/10, can pretty much see all of Los Angeles from this height. They had lots of seating with fire pits and electric overhead heaters but even then it was a bit chilly with the wind picking up. I ordered the Kiss of Fire cocktail and Ahi Tuna Tostada. The cocktail was delicious but the Tuna was a complete disaster. The fish was cut a bit too thick making it difficult to bite through and the size made it impossible to eat in one go. I also felt that it lacked flavor. Overall a really good spot for drinks and view but there are better rooftop establishments if you want the complete food and drink experience. read more

I had a reservation at 7:30 but did not get seated till around 8:30 and not only is their menus different from online. They only have wings and burgers. I then spoke to the manger Edwardo who was awesome He offered us drinks on the house for the inconvenience If your only looking to eat appetizers this is the place to be No steaks !!!!!!! Three stars because the manager was very polite And the bar service was good ! read more

Spire 73 is an upscale open-air rooftop bar with craft cocktails on the 73rd story of the beautiful InterContinental hotel. Reservations are a must! Be careful not to wonder too far off from the hostess desk because someone else will answer to your name...that's how desperate people are to avoid the long wait when they should've made reservations. Although, the hostesses should make a mental note of who's who when they check-in and put the name to a face. Anywho, to get the night started despite the unexpected wait, I enjoyed a sunset toast in the Los Angeles sky on the tallest bar in the Western Hemisphere with a starry ambiance. Looking out over the city was amazingly breathtaking! read more

Food 3/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 I wish I could give this place a 3.5 star because of the subpar food but because of the ambiance and scenery, I'll bump it up to a 4/5. Located at the top of the Intercontinental hotel, you get ALMOST a 360 view from 73rd floor that overlooks all of DTLA. It's open top so it gets windy but they do offer blankets and have heaters to stay warm. Service was friendly and quick. They have full bar and places To lounge. Food however is WAY overpriced and honestly mediocre at best. The filet dish I got was supposed to be medium rare but was overcooked. It was $70! The chicken dish was also mediocre. Drinks all range between $20-$25. You're pretty much paying for the views and experience to be here but don't expect much from the dishes. read more
My bestie and I stayed at The Intercontinental for a brief staycation. We had to check out Spire 73, obviously! The food and drinks are not great, but the views are pretty stunning being that high up. It's crazy to see LA from this bar. We were very fortunate to have an excellent server. He was very attentive and quite lovely. We caught a gentleman proposing to his girl while we were there and many were excited for him. It was cute :) read more
We went to Spire for drinks and it was phenomenal. I recommend getting there a little before 7pm, so you can participate in the 7pm sunset toast. The music was sexy and really created a beautiful environment (thank you, Patrick). We had a few of their gin based cocktails and enjoyed watching the sunset. Our server was kind and made sure we had everything we needed to get the most out of our visit. If youre looking to show someone different views of Los Angeles-- this is the best place to do it! read more
The service was Stellar! Patrick was our server and was so attentive. This is a rooftop restaurant and being that it's December he offered us blankets to keep warm in addition to the heaters. Patrick was truly an AMAZING server. I had the mushroom vegetarian dish which was sooooo good. It came with rice and French fries all together making an excellent dish. My mother had the seared salmon- Moms said it was cooked to perfection! This place for date or hanging out with friends. The panoramic view of Los Angeles is absolutely breathtaking. Overall service, food and ambiance all stellar. read more

Great environment with fast service and super nice staff. Our waiter was quick and helpful. The only thing I'd point out is the restrooms could be a little cleaner. Other than that, I definitely recommend this spot. They have great drinks and a good variety of food. Just a quick note--it's actually a bar, not a full restaurant, so it can get crowded since a lot of people from the hotel hang out here. Still, the food options are solid--the wings are especially good. Also, valet is available and they'll validate, but you'll still need to pay the difference. read more
Honestly the vibes, pictures, service, food, and drinks are top notch. Our favorite people, Karina, Van, Patrick, Malik, Avelia, and Chef Adrian were so amazing it made my friend's birthday so special that I couldn't even ask for more. After a long afternoon at the LA Auto Show, we decided we needed a drink. On our way to Silverlake, we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to check out Spire 73--and wow, are we glad we did! A brisk elevator ride whisked us up to the 70th floor, where we were greeted by the hotel lobby. (Pro tip: Don't miss the stunning views--and gentlemen, the bathrooms are worth a visit!) From there, another quick elevator ride brought us to the entrance of Spire 73. Though we didn't have a reservation, we were able to grab seats at the bar just in time to witness an unforgettable sunset. With drinks and appetizers in hand, we settled in to watch Los Angeles transition from day to night, all from the comfort of our barstools. To say our time there was magical would be an understatement--it was perfectly timed, relaxed, and utterly memorable. A big shoutout to Coralynn and August, who made us feel like old friends and took exceptional care of us. We shared a burger and a plate of nachos, but I must single out the French fries. As a self-proclaimed fry connoisseur, I have to say they were perfection: crispy on the outside, creamy like mashed potatoes on the inside, and seasoned with what I suspect was a hint of vinegar. How do they do it?! Two hours flew by, the perfect amount of time to enjoy the experience without feeling rushed (plus, our parking meter was about to expire). Before leaving, we took one last lap around the 73rd floor, soaking in the twinkling city lights and iconic landmarks. Another quick elevator ride brought us back to street level, and just like that, we returned to mortal life from the heights of Olympus. Truly, it was a magical evening at Spire 73. The moment you've all been waiting for has finally arrived... my 1,000th review!! Spire 73 is the tallest open-air bar in the Western Hemisphere. Reservations are required, and there is a $10 entry fee per person daily (waived for hotel guests). On Fridays and Saturdays after 8 pm, the entry fee is $20 per person, which is waived for table reservations with bottle service. From the moment I stepped into the prestigious Intercontinental Hotel in DTLA, to the moment we left the building, there was nothing left to be desired. I had no idea we were coming here, because my friend set it up as a surprise. He strategically made reservations 3 weeks in advance for our party of 4, so we could catch the sunset at just the right time. The 5 pm reservation was absolutely perfect! We made our way to the 73rd floor, where we checked in with the hostess. We were seated immediately at a table with an amazing view of the City of Angels. This is most certainly a "you have to see it to believe it" kind of establishment. Fernando was our server who was not only super friendly, but very informative as well as entertaining. He also informed us that they have blankets for you if you get cold (and trust me, you'll feel it up there)! We started off with some cocktails, of course. We did not have complaints about any of them and ordered a second round to go with our food. There is a minimum spend per person, which was around $60 - $65. We shared the following: Bavarian Pretzel (during Oktoberfest) 5/5 Bangkok Shrimp 5/5 Mushroom Bisque 5/5 Truffle Parmesan Fries 4/5 Skin Seared Alaskan Salmon 5/5 The fries were seasoned well,, but because of the open-air concept, I feel like they got cold super fast. However, they still had good flavor and were crisp. The pretzel was huge and between the 4 of us, we had a small piece of it left over. The honey mustard and beer cheese dips were delicious! Everyone devoured the shrimp, and they were a good size with lots of flavor. The soup was very mild in flavor, but I love mushroom anything, so I don't have anything bad to say about it. The salmon came last, but it sealed the deal for us. Presentation was on par with the ambiance of the restaurant, and the drinks were kickin'! I believe I ordered a City View followed by a Blackberry Side Car. They tasted just how I like my drinks: fruity, with the not-so-subtle flavor of the alcohol. One of my friends got the Espresso Martini and loved it. The blankets were a special touch, as it did start getting cold as the evening went on. There are many great photo opps here as well, and a lot of selfie-worthy spots, too. Personally, the only thing that could take this up a notch would be a hot date and a private cabana with a jacuzzi in the corner, no joke!! Staff pleasant.. perfect seating.. perfect weather.. perfect drinks.. food options were blah.. very unimpressed. Was looking forward to dinner and drinks but instead got drinks and shared chicken wings, then went somewhere else for true dinner and drinks. They need more options as this menu was was disappointing in our opinion. Great option for drinks and a great view nonetheless. read more

Yes, just as long as your 11 year old is okay with the pressure going up and down the elevators and is not afraid of heights.

I can't say for certain. Depending on what part and day time. The place probably will accommodate. For the right $$$$
