Mr. Leo's racial discrimination photo and disregard to Sushi preparation being unsustainable for service. His response "you can leave"
    Joe I.

Leo, I categorically deny the version of events you have posted publicly. At no time did I verbally abuse your staff, scream obscenities, or threaten your employees as you claim. My concern was straightforward: I was served raw fish that had a strong foul odor. Your bartender personally inspected the fish and acknowledged the odor, which is what prompted me to request management. After our interaction, I spent approximately 30 minutes outside speaking calmly with the security officer, who apologized repeatedly for my experience. That interaction is entirely inconsistent with your portrayal of me as someone who was abusive or out of control. Rather than addressing the serious food safety concern, your response attempts to discredit me personally with allegations that I believe are false. My review was written to document my experience as a customer, and I stand by it. Based on the manner in which I was treated after raising a legitimate food safety concern, I left believing I had been unfairly targeted. Whether intentional or not, I walked away feeling that I was treated differently than I should have been simply for bringing spoiled food to your attention. That experience, combined with your continued attempt to publicly mischaracterize my conduct, only reinforces my concerns about how this situation was handled. My hope remains that the focus will return to the issue that started this entire incident--the quality and safety of the food being served--and that no other customer has to endure a similar experience.

Enjoyed the decor. They sat us in a secluded area away from the fish tanks which was unfortunate. Service was really quick Prefix $79pp marinated cucumber (spicy!) and cod roe mashed potatoes yum. APPETIZERS + Wonton Salmon Tartare Tacos: was filledddd w salmon very tangy and refreshing, w a bit of cream cheese (9/10) + Double Crispy Rice: so fun, crispy rice chewy interior kinda of sticks to your teeth in a mochi like way. The salmon was better. (9.2/10) ENTREES + Beef Short Rib: pretty lean, carrots and turnip cooked soft and well (8/10) + Nigiri Platter: everything was yuzu-y. Scallop and albacore were best (8.7/10) DESSERT + White Chocolate Bread Pudding: warm and doughy, ok (7/10) + Yuzu Cheesecake: ok, yum but can't say the best cheesecake I've had (7.5/10)

Very clearly one of those "for the vibes and not the food" places because you are paying for the ambiance and decor. The fish quality here is not bad if you plan to order a bunch of sushi but it can be pricey. When we went they had a deal where if you spent minimum $60 per person you got a free drink token to go up to the rooftop bar at perch. This was easy to do if you got the pre fixe menu which was about $70 per person. I liked the tuna crispy rice because they used real seared ahi tuna on it instead of mashed spicy tuna. Besides one mishap with a mixed up drink, service was decent, but this is a place to go when you want a night out or to grab drinks, not for super authentic Japanese food.

A great place to have dinner with good sushi and extraordinary fish tank interior. This makes a perfect date night!

We came right around opening for their happy hour. The inside truly is beautiful, especially with the fish tanks, the tall ceilings, and the decor. The space isn't as large as I thought it would be. Seating is on various levels which are visible to each other. As you enter the restaurant, you have to walk down a set of stairs to get to the dining area. Not sure how they deal with people who have mobility issues for whom stairs might be a problem. I couldn't tell if there was an elevator somewhere. When you arrive, there is someone at the door to check and see whether or not you have reservations. We did not, but since we arrived around opening, there were plenty of tables available. Their happy hour only goes from 5 PM to 6:30 PM on Tuesdays through Thursdays and 4 PM to 6 PM on Fridays. It did not fill up and the time that we were there. The restaurant service was very good and attentive. The food was good. We had the agedashi tofu, the pork belly skewers, the tai yuzu carpaccio, the golden yuzu roll, and the yellowtail scallion roll. My favorite dish was the tai yuzu carpaccio. I would definitely want to return to try a few more dishes, particularly the mentaiko potato salad and the seared rice dishes. I ordered the pork belly skewers for the Japanese eggplant which I was hoping to be like the eggplant I had in Japan. It was close, but not quite there. Overall, I had a very good experience and would definitely come back.

Mrs Fish is a stylish Japanese restaurant and sushi bar hidden underground in Downtown Los Angeles. The location feels unique and fun, with art on the walls and even a large fish tank that makes the space feel lively and interesting The sushi is often praised for tasting fresh and delicious, with different nigiri options and creative rolls. Many people also enjoy shareable small plates

Was looking forward to coming here after seeing many videos on social media, but left a bit disappointed. The ambiance and the venue were the best part. Really nice inside! The fishtanks, the different levels, the bars & the music was on point! Service was ok, they were a bit busy (Saturday evening) so we had to wait a bit to get our order taken. The disappointment really came in the food. The rolls were absolutely tiny!! (See attached pictures). I placed a regular piece of edamame next to the roll for size reference. Felt like they were made for a little kid. Not to mention, they were definitely on the pricier side! We ordered Spicy Edamame (Mediocre and not spicy one bit), Shishito Peppers, Crispy Tuna Rice, 3 rolls, 2 beers and 2 mixed drinks. Our total was a bit over $200!! And I still left hungry since I didn't want to order more after I saw the rolls brought to the table. If I were to come back, I'd come back just to sit at the bar and have a drink, enjoy the ambiance. Definitely wont come back for the food.

Finally got to cross this off my list! The aesthetic of this restaurant is super cute and unique. The service was very friendly too. Great place for a date night Pictured: - Yuzu Blossom & Tsuma - Pork Belly Skewers - Skirt Steak Skewers - Salmon Carpaccio - Seared Tuna Crispy Rice - Salmon Belly Nigiri - Kaisen Roll - Nottonight Roll - Lobster Uni Pasta - Yuzu Cheesecake Our reservation included a complimentary drink at the Perch Rooftop Bar as well

We had an amazing experience! Brian was an incredible bartender -- friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Everything we ordered was delicious: the ikura, toro, tuna, salmon belly, the NotTonight sushi roll, and the ceviche. The ceviche was definitely spicy, but so flavorful! The service was outstanding from start to finish. Thank you, Brian, for taking such great care of us. We'll definitely be coming back!

Been wanting to check this place out for a while and finally got to this weekend. We came here for a birthday celebration dinner. We were sat underneath the large food tank, which was awesome to watch. The ambiance was posh with the dimmed lights and the contemporary art decor. They had a wide selection of sushi, nigiri, sashimi, and other tasty dishes, and an even wider choice of Japanese whiskey and other libations. Our server Christopher was great! My menu special mentions are the spicy pork ramen (no pix...boo) which had a really flavorful broth and the lobster uni pasta was delish along with the black cod. Definitely loved the experience! Note: Valet parking is available. They also offer a karaoke room, party room, and prix fixe menu.

Soon as u walk the places just lights up with a big fish tank as u walk down the steps. I went right to the bar and ordered the Beef Short Rib that was so freaking good. To drink I forget the name of it but it was a tequila drink that was very refreshing.

Very pretty restaurant inside and definitely has a great vibe for drinks or a night out, but unfortunately the food and service didn't live up to the ambiance. We ordered two rolls that were pretty mid and the miso soup came out cold. We asked for it to be warmed up, but it never came back to the table. To their credit, they did remove it from the bill. Overall, the experience was disappointing and I probably wouldn't come back for the food -- maybe just for drinks and the atmosphere.

    Delicious drinks

Our Bartender Brian went above and beyond to make our night memorable! He provided us with scrumptious drinks and top tier service with our food. Eddie also provided us with amazing service! Will def come back and sit at the bar!!

Has anyone tried the new tomahawk steak? Is it on the bone?

I'm celebrating my daughters bday. Just saw you can have a personalize menu (with her name on it) how do I do this? Have call the restaurant but can't get a hold of anyone.

You have to contact the restaurant by email. See the "Contact" page on their website.

If I go with a party of 8 do we have to pick from the family style menu? Of can we pick from the regular menu?

You can all order on your own.

    Where is the parking?

Valet parking is the best option. Under $20 If you park in the structure that's around the corner it's about $25-30

    Is it good for kids?

If the kids like sushi 🍣 yes

Where would be the best place to sit for a date night with the wife? And what time does live music play on a Saturday?

Music is from 8 to 11:30pm. I would recommend sitting on the top level so y'all have good views of the entire restaurant plus a little privacy.

How much is the five course dinner?

I think it may change occasionally, but when I was there this past weekend it was $85 per person.

    Are children allowed?

Hi! All ages are welcome at anytime as long as you have a reservation. If you are a walk-in coming in at 10:45pm OR later, everyone must be 21+ with a physical ID.

    Are there any vegan options?

I believe they have a vegan noodle bowl. If you have IG, check their page. I'm almost certain I saw that noodle bowl listed

Is there an elevator available for those in wheelchairs?

Yes. Every building in the states must be ADA compliant and especially in LA county where build codes are strict.

    What is the price range?

Actually for the price of delicious fresh sushi 🍣 it was relatively inexpensive compared to fine establishments trust me. Also ambiance is cool especially the tunnel coming in lots of wow 😮 factors here very cool Nobu Club japanese exclusive sushi… Read more

Is this place a nice spot for my sons 18th birthday dinner?

I don't see why not! I would suggest that you snag a reservation, well in advance, if you want a prime time slot.

Has anybody been there with a group larger than seven? If so, have you had their fix meal? I have reservations and I'm thinking about canceling because we are unable to pick what we want due to our group being a party of eight. Is it worth it?

I recently visited with a group of 8 and had to do the fixe menu. I suggest being upfront with your party as it's little food for a heavy price. Plus, some people may not be fans of some of the items chosen. I left, still hungry

For the dress code are jeans and a nice ok?

Our dress code is upscale causal. This means no swimwear, sleepwear, or gym wear. Jeans and a nice top is perfect!

Do they take walk ins or you need a reservation?

Reservations are strongly recommended. There's bar space and chance table availability for walk-ins, but I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time - especially if you're planning to come during peak hours after 7pm.

    Any dress code?

It's an upscale restaurant so you'll definitely want to dress up. Not suit and tie, but dapper attire. You'll feel out of place if you're anything but.

Is there happy hour or any specials during the week?

Yes! We do have happy hour from 5pm-6:30pm Tuesday through Friday.

Anyone reserve for more than 10 people? Any problems calling in reservations for more than 8 people?

I used their website to inquire for a 16 people reservation and had to choose prix fixe menu options. I had someone call me back the next day with the closest available time!

    Need vaccination proof?

They didn't check ours this past Saturday night

If I'm not vaccinated do they accept neg PCR tests?

Need to show proof of vaccination

Drinks: Really, really good. My absolute favorite was the boat drink with foam on top, but we split several others and I liked everything we tried. Vibe: Unmatched. There are several drinks on the menu with a theatrical presentation that gets the whole bar involved. The space is small, so you'll inevitably have your conversation interrupted by an alluring siren's call or some ceremonial rowers. This is a crucial part of the tiki experience for me. The bartenders all have their different spin and clearly are in it for the love of the game. We had a lot of fun chatting with the staff. Tiki cocktails have expanded beyond rum into smokier tequila and mezcal drinks, which are more my speed. Lucky Tiki takes planning. You'll probably need a reservation weeks ahead and yes, they'll politely kick you out after 2 hours. These drinks are delicious and designed to ruin your decision-making skills. Worth it. Uber home, obviously. This spot is "hidden" in a bowling alley, and inside you'll find retro lighting and decor and tiki cocktails. The sauce helped bring some juiciness back and balanced it out. The bluefin tuna bibimbap was pretty enjoyable. The tuna tasted fresh and the textures worked well together, but the dish could have used a little more seasoning to make the flavors pop. The perilla was a great touch though. It added a slightly minty flavor that complemented the tuna without taking over the dish. The beef short rib was easily the standout. PERFECTLY cooked, incredibly tender, and seasoned just right. The richness of the meat paired so well with the lettuce wraps that it almost feels like they should automatically come with the dish. Service was good and everything came out smoothly. Would come back!

It wasn't your typical corner haunt. There was an intentionality here that turned a simple evening out into a genuine education. The curation of spirits was nothing short of impressive, but what set the experience apart was the conversation. I arrived knowing the difference between a glass and a bottle, but left with a newfound appreciation for the nuances of rum, the craftsmanship behind a smooth whiskey, and the unexpected complexities hidden within a well-made vodka. Each pour came with a story, a history, and a level of expertise that transformed every sip into a lesson. The atmosphere was the perfect anchor for it all--utterly chill and devoid of the frantic, forced energy you find elsewhere. It was the kind of place where the music sits at just the right volume and the lighting invites you to actually linger. It was refreshing to find a spot that treats its craft with such respect while keeping the vibe completely grounded. I walked out feeling a little more cultured and a lot more relaxed. Consider this my official notice: I'll definitely be back.

My friends and I recently visited Obscure, and overall we had a great experience…read more First, the venue itself is absolutely beautiful. From the moment you walk in, it feels like you've been transported somewhere else. Every room is thoughtfully designed, and the atmosphere is immersive and unlike anything we've experienced before. The storyteller was welcoming, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable. I really enjoyed learning about the history of alcohol and the stories behind each tasting. The cocktails were definitely on the stronger side, but you could tell they were crafted with high-quality ingredients. Unfortunately, our experience was somewhat tainted by our hostess. She came across as impatient and unwelcoming, which set the tone early on. When we first entered, we were each handed a small glass of liquid, and then she immediately walked away without explaining what it was or what we were supposed to do with it. We assumed it was a welcome drink, so we all took a sip only to discover it was actually a palate cleanser. A little guidance would have gone a long way. The next room had a beautiful bayou-inspired setting. While the historical information was interesting, I found myself wishing the experience leaned more into the mystical or magical themes that the venue seems to promise. One thing worth mentioning is the restroom setup. I don't mind coed restrooms, but there was no signage explaining that the restroom is shared with two open stalls. Some guests may appreciate a heads-up, especially those who might feel uncomfortable or triggered by that arrangement. After the tastings, you're taken outside. A few of us stopped to use the restroom first, and when we returned, our friend had already left the table and all of our drinks had been cleared away. We were disappointed because we hadn't finished them. Our friend had been told she couldn't take the drinks with her, but when we returned we could take them outside. She was told that they'd be there when we got back. We were disappointed. The outdoor portion of the experience also felt a bit rushed. We barely had time to enjoy our drinks, let alone take photos of the beautiful space. The beignets at the end, however, were absolutely delicious and a highlight of the evening! Finally, we were escorted to the members-only bar, which was stunning. It gave off major Harry Potter vibes with its hidden, magical atmosphere. One of my friends was still finishing her drink on the patio since we couldn't legally walk on the sidewalk with it. Our hostess told us she'd come back for us but she never did. After waiting quite a while, another staff member happened to walk by and kindly helped us. Once inside, everything turned around again. The bartender was warm, friendly, and helped us choose drinks off the menu. I ordered the piña colada, and while it was much stronger and different from the traditional version I'm used to, it was absolutely delicious!!! Despite some service issues and inconsistent communication, I would still recommend Obscure. The concept is unique, the cocktails are excellent, and the venue is truly one of a kind. I'm hoping our hostess was simply having an off day, because with more attentive service, this experience could easily be five stars.

Echoing what everyone else has been saying - the service is SO slow. It was about 45 minutes before we were able to order our second drink and our water glasses were empty. They have so many runners bringing the drinks out but only a few servers and, from the looks of it, one bartender (on a Saturday night - what?!). The server was saying he was trying to find a manager to help out but they were nowhere to be found. Clearly management is fine with these service times since they're still making $$$. The drinks were delicious, and I loved that there were heaters on the patio (though they did get very hot at times). Our server was so kind and brought us a celebratory drink. I do wish there were more explanations with the beverages, especially for the Paid Vacation as most people will not realize you're supposed to bite into the buzz button for the tingly sensation. I would come back, but need some time for my wallet to recover first, haha!

Matt B. and I are living with my parents these days, and one of the benefits of this arrangement is…read morethat we can leave the house quite easily after the kids go to bed. We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. Thunderbolt is not our neighborhood bar, but we plan to go back when we can to check out the rest of the menu. It's a wonderful place, well worth a jaunt on the freeway.

Was charged three times, totaling hundreds of dollars, and waiting for the pending transactions to…read moredrop (or stay :/) in 3-5 business days is no fun. We can't all be made of money, but this shouldn't have happened.
