The inside is really unique, and the overhanging aquarium was absolutely stunning and made for a great atmosphere. Service was generally very attentive and friendly. We ordered the tomahawk steak, ribeye, filet, and a variety of happy hour dishes, including the salmon sashimi and spicy garlic edamame. The quality of the sushi really stood out, and everything we tried was bold, unique, and full of flavor. For dessert, we got the bread pudding and cheesecake. Honestly, both were phenomenal, although if I came back, I'd probably reorder the bread pudding over the cheesecake. No matter where you sit, you can enjoy the huge aquarium, the artwork throughout the restaurant, and the music. This was my second time at Mrs. Fish and my little sister's first, and I brought her here specifically for her birthday dinner. Growing up, birthdays weren't really celebrated in our family, so being able to celebrate them together now as adults means a lot to us. When making the reservation, I specifically noted that we were celebrating her birthday and requested that it be marked as a birthday occasion. We also saw a group next to us have a drink brought out with a candle, which made it a little more noticeable. Food quality doesn't justify the price. We got the four course meal and certain items like the bread pudding dessert and appetizers were excellent but lots of it was just okay. Nigiri was room temperature and I couldn't get past it. Server Edwin was really unpleasant. I asked him multiple questions on various items and he always replied with "my dietary restrictions won't let me eat that..." okay you can simply tell me what's the most popular or which items sell better. I've had this restaurant in my bookmarks for 4 years and I was finally able to come for their DineLA 2026 menu! The interior was better than I imagined; you descend steps to find yourself surrounded by an aquarium and beautiful art pieces. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't feel full from the meal, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that the portion sizes were really generous. We each got the marinated cucumbers and mentaiko potato salad; the cucumbers were a bit on the spicy side but the potato salad was amazing! I got the double tuna on crispy rice which was probably my favorite part of the meal; the spicy tuna is definitely not spicy though which was good for me but others might be disappointed. The salmon tartare tacos were crispy and flavorful. The beef short rib was super tender and I loved the root vegetables and mashed potatoes, and the nigiri platter had a good amount of rice but also thick pieces of fish. The desserts were the perfect finish to the meal. Also, I gor the Tsuma cocktail and it tasted like tangerine juice! Our waitress was super sweet and checked in on us often. I would've given this place 3, maybe even 4 stars if it weren't for the very last interaction with our server. I'll start with the positives. Mrs. Fish has a really cool atmosphere and a diverse menu. I definitely feel like if you have the money to spend, you can find something here that you'll enjoy. It's also completely possible that we just didn't make the best choices with what we ordered. We went with the 4-course menu for $80 per person. The first course was pretty underwhelming and bland. It was basically four slices of cucumber with seasoning and a small potato dish. Nothing was necessarily bad, but for the price and setting, I expected something more memorable. For the next course, I got the pork belly skewers, which were honestly really good--very flavorful and probably one of the highlights of the meal. My fiancée got the double crispy rice. Both portions were good, and this was easily the strongest part of the four-course experience. Next, we ordered the lobster pasta and the nigiri sampler. The lobster pasta wasn't bad at all; it was pretty much exactly what I ordered, but I expected the flavor to stand out more considering the price. The nigiri was more disappointing. The fish was lukewarm, which was pretty off-putting and took away from the experience. For dessert, we got the bread pudding and gelato. The bread pudding was SO good. Honestly, it was good enough that afterward we both wished we had just ordered two of them. Our total came out to around $220, including gratuity that was automatically added for our party of two. That really caught me off guard. I'm used to automatic gratuity being associated with larger parties, so having it automatically added to a table of two didn't sit well with me, especially considering the overall experience. If there's a policy or disclosure explaining it, it definitely wasn't clear to us at the time. Overall, for roughly $220, I just don't think the quality of the food matched the price. What really pushed my review down to two stars, though, was our final interaction with the server. My fiancée and I were very obviously there together on a date. We were sitting next to each other, hugging, kissing, laughing, sharing food and even feeding each other throughout dinner. When it was finally time for the check, our server came over and asked, "Do you want the check split or together?" Maybe other people wouldn't think twice about that, but it honestly caught both of us off guard. I don't think I've ever been asked that while clearly on a date before the check was even dropped. Between that interaction, the automatically added gratuity, and food that was hit-or-miss for the price, I'm comfortable with giving Mrs. Fish 2 stars. There were definitely things I liked--the atmosphere was great, the pork belly was delicious, and the bread pudding was fantastic. With a different service experience and a few different menu choices, I could honestly see myself having rated this place much higher. Been wanting to check this place out for a while and finally got to this weekend. We came here for a birthday celebration dinner. We were sat underneath the large food tank, which was awesome to watch. The ambiance was posh with the dimmed lights and the contemporary art decor. They had a wide selection of sushi, nigiri, sashimi, and other tasty dishes, and an even wider choice of Japanese whiskey and other libations. Our server Christopher was great! Horrible management and customer service. Don't come here for a special occasion. They'll forget your birthday and charge you for things you don't receive. It began with our server having an attitude when our group moved spots at the table. I understand this could be confusing, but we were accommodating someone who was one week out of surgery and needed to extend their leg. After this, our server completely dismissed us, rarely checking on us. We constantly had to flag him or other staff down for things like water and forgotten items. The worst part was the end of the meal. We were celebrating a birthday, which our server completely forgot. Our desserts came out without a candle, and we had to ask for one after they were already at the table for a few minutes. We watched other servers bring out birthday desserts with candles already lit, making the whole situation especially disappointing. Then came the bill. We ordered Dine LA, which includes a dessert, and I asked if we could swap it for the bread pudding. Our server said, word for word, "Yes, but it will be an upcharge." I agreed. Instead, we were charged the full price of the dessert. Since we were charged for it as a separate item, we should have still received the dessert included with Dine LA, which never came. If the dessert could not be swapped, that would have been completely understandable, but calling the full price an "upcharge" was straight up incorrect and a lie. We were also charged 20% autogratuity despite being a party of five. Their website states that autogratuity applies to parties of six or more. Plus we waited over 20 minutes for our check and ultimately had to flag our server down for it. I initially assumed we simply got a bad server and emailed management hoping they would help resolve the charges. They ignored my email. I even called and was told someone would get back to me, and they never did. The food was good, but management's complete lack of concern after we tried to handle this privately makes it clear this is bigger than just a bad server. There are plenty of restaurants in LA that deserve your money more. read more

A couple of weeks ago, my daughter and I finally had the chance to try Mrs. Fish, and what a fun experience it was! From the moment you walk in, the décor makes you feel like you're entering an underwater tunnel. Once inside, you're greeted by a massive fish tank on the ceiling. Next was the seared tuna crispy rice, which was different from the typical version. Instead of chopped tuna, it had a whole piece of tuna on top of the crispy rice. We also tried the salmon carpaccio. It was good, but I felt it could have used a little more flavor. My favorite dish was the Chilean sea bass ceviche. I absolutely fell in love with it!
