    Spaghetti and Meatballs

This is a tiny Italian restaurant with an intimate feel to it. It's a bit dated but that adds to the charm. It seemed there were only 3 people working: the chef, the waiter and the food runner, but with less than 10 tables that's all you need. I loved that the meal was served with hot, fresh bread and a simple salad. You don't often see that these days. You'll find all of the classics on the menu and the portions were quite large. We started out with the sautéed calamari and with all that butter and garlic it was just wonderful. We even dipped our bread into it so that none of that sauce would go to waste. I had the Spaghetti and Meatballs. The meatballs were on the small side but it also comes in a meat sauce with nice flavor that's well prepared. It was a nice touch that they bring the desserts out on a tray for you to select from. And of course once you see them you can't pass them up! We had a lemon cake that we both enjoyed as a way to cap off the meal.

My first visit to Cafe Gazelle after visiting Long Beach many times. It is my family friend's favorite in the Belmont Shore. It is certainly a very small, cozy, intimate spot so always best to make a reservation. There are only about 4-6 tables at a time. The owners and staff are so kind and delightful. The wine, salad, bread, and pasta were delicious. Their menu is expansive and you cannot go wrong with any plate. Try it for yourself, enjoy.

Small, intimate, hole in the wall. Well-made pasta. Perfect portion sizes. Tried a few pasta dishes here and everyone is great. Pasta is well cooked and the ingredients seem fresh.

What a gem ! Small Italian restaurant , located in the busy Belmont shore area parking is obviously busy , so expect to walk here from your spot ... Came on a not so busy night and got sat down right away , loved the atmosphere, very cozy , very close , table was set up nicely , everything looked clean , kitchen was firing up dishes ! When with the gnocchi for a starter .. wow loved it been thinking of it since .. and then I went with a pasta dish and got shrimp in it ... first of all how they slice the shrimp is so amazing ... definitely means they properly and devein it !! Love that .. everything tasted fresh , amazing flavors . Stafff was great ... didn't try any desserts ... I did see a waiter with a tray asking the couple next to me if they wanted desserts when I was leaving and I was a bit bummed because if they would have flashed me that tray I would have definitely been convinced lol ... A must try Italian restaurant!

The food was delicious! It's a very small place so just be cautious of that and be prepared, the staff is quick and friendly. Can't wait to go back and try a new dish

Genuinely the best place we happened to stumble across. The ambience is cozy and familiar and the staff treats everyone so kindly. The food was genuinely the best thing I ever had. The appetizer, the bread, EVEN THE BUTTER, and especially the main dish. I plan on coming back again. You should definitely stop by and visit. COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF, THE OWNER, THE WAITER EVERYONE.

Parking is rough because Belmont Shore is always busy. You'll probably have to arrive early or wait for a table because there are only 7 inside. The food is well worth waiting for though. I went with a couple of friends and was able to try a few different dishes. Bruschetta, chicken Parmesan, michaellangelo, gnocchi with bolognese and a few desserts. Every single dish was a hit. I would order all of them again.

The food at Cafe Gazelle is out of this world--some of the best Italian food I've had in southern california. Pasta is cooked perfectly and everything we had from the eggplant appetizer to cheesecake dessert had complex, delicious flavors. A great spot for a romantic but laid back date. Space is quite small so you'll be rubbing elbows with people getting in and out occasionally, but its definitely charming and service is top knotch.

All I can do is to continue RAVING about how much I love this little gem of a restaurant!!! The food is incredible, the service is impeccable, and the wine is affordable, haha! It's such a small and cozy restaurant that does not take reservations. Turn around is pretty quick! The street parking in that area can be horrid, but there's also a paid lot directly across the restaurant, thru the alley. Dealing with parking there is so worth it! It's amazing how you never feel like servers are staring at you, but the SECOND you're done eating, they clear a plate. The SECOND you finish your drink, they come and offer more. Just a fantastic dining experience, and it feels like I'm back in Europe every time. If you need to use the bathroom, just be aware that you have to walk thru their kitchen to use it, and it's a supply closet. But oh well, that's how the besttt old-school restaurant work!

SO good. Phenomenal. Took me back to eating in Italy. My mind is actually blown. And they were so friendly! Super cramped but in a way that was perfect and I loved the vibe:) 10/10 Pescatore

This is your hidden gem and a neighborhood Italian spot on 2nd Street, but it's off the main street if that makes sense. It is such a small restaurant, and I would easily categorize it as a hole-in-the-wall. When people were leaving, we literally had to move our table so people could pass through. I'm not sure if that is a pro or a con, but if you are claustrophobic, this place is not for you. Also, in my opinion, it's not a good date spot!! We started off the meal with a soup or salad, which came as part of the entree. For the meal, I got the Lasagna Bolognese, which was pretty good! I would try something else next time; I thought the sauce was very thin and greasy.

Great place for Italian Food in Long Beach. Cozy. Quiet. Incredible aromas greet u as u walk in the door. Delicious food. Family owned. Nice staff. Street parking.

Sweet lady with the pretty name, you made my night. I'm the Kiddo who came in late around 9 or 10. My kid had a bad day at school, and a bad day at work. He came home and made dinner, which then promptly fell on the floor. His shoulders just slumped. I said, let me get you some Dave's (He loves DHC). I was also tired from a very long day at work, but drove there after pre-ordering. As soon as I walked in, there's this huge smile at the counter asking what can she do for me. I told her my kid placed an order. She found it and asked would I like any sauce and I said, I don't know. It's for my kid and she said, "I got you!" And proceeded to load me up with sauces she knew my kid would like as we chatted. She seemed to know I had a rough day and was as genuinely kind as she could be, and I'm sure she had been working all day as well and yet, she lit up the store. ***UPDATE FOLLOWING DIANA M'S *EDITED* RESPONSE***…read more After deleting her prior response to this review, she is now just focusing on the complaint about the online service fee. I never suggested that it was a "hidden fee", I just pointed out that it is a very high fee for ordering online. As pointed out before, ordering online directly from a restaurant does not usually incur a fee, let alone a $6 fee. If Diana feels that ordering online is so onerous, then maybe she should deactivate that feature and encourage her customers to phone in their orders. Diana should also consider not badgering customers that did not have a good experience with her restaurant and consider taking some classes in Customer Service 101. It's not a good way to run a business and the fastest way to lose customers. ***UPDATE FOLLOWING DIANA M's RESPONSE*** It's unfortunate that the owner responded with excuses and condescension. A simple "Hey, sorry for the mishap, we will make sure it won't happen again" would have sufficed. At least that way, she likely would have had a returning customer since the food is good. But now, no way Jose. And the $5.00 online service fee is egregious. I order quite a bit online and always try to order directly through the restaurants website to avoid fees. I don't know if any other restaurants that charge fees to order online unless there is a delivery involved. --------------------------- Well, not sure what to say. We put in an online order last night, which went through with a $4.95 service fee. (We ordered through their direct site rather than a third party sight to save on fees) If that wasn't bad enough, I showed up at the designated pick up time, and the place was closed. WTF? About an hour later, we were refunded our money, but why is the website taking orders and collecting payments when you're not even open? Talk about inconvenience. And clearly their posted operating hours are inconsistent.

I would assume everything is mostly the same still though, other than the prices, which presumably have gone up like everything else... It's pay at the front - on a tablet, if you know what you want, though an employee is there if you need help. They're clear about the fact that everything is made fresh, so you get it in *exactly* as much time as it takes to be made, which wasn't instant, but was pretty quick. My wife got the 3 piece nugget plate for $12 - a steal at that price. The pieces are *quite* large, and they are pretty great. (She isn't a spice person, so got mild and liked them. Then took half home.) I got the $13 sandwich, which... the pieces of chicken they use for the sandwich are a bit silly, honestly. It's also a great deal, cause you get a ton of fried chicken, but it was also a bit unwieldy? By the time I was halfway into the actual sandwich part of the sandwich, it had fallen apart completely, and I had to eat it with forks (they don't have knives, so 2 forks had to do). Delicious, though. (I got a "medium" spice, which was pretty reasonable. Somewhat spicy, but it could've been a little spicier.) We also shared an order of fries - $6 for fries and a drink. The fries are solid, what you'd expect - also a huge portion (we also took a bunch of fries home for later.) I also gave them an extra $1 for an extra dip (I wanted to try their "signature sauce" as well as the ranch, which they make in-house, both great.) I also, I only discovered afterwards, also gave them another about a dollar in credit card fees, at 3%. (Disclosed, but not *obvious*.) Drinks are sadly just the usual fountain drinks, mostly soda - wish they had slightly craftier drinks, of one kind or another. (Or that they were closer to home so I could more easily get take-out. A solid choice if you're in the area though.)

I recently stopped by and was honestly impressed, especially with the portion sizes and flavor. I ordered the two-tender combo, and right away I noticed these weren't your average tenders--they were jumbo. Thick, crispy, and cooked just right. The outside had that perfect crunch while the inside stayed juicy and tender. You also get to pick your heat level, which is clutch whether you like it mild or want that real Nashville kick. The combo came with Texas toast, pickles, and their signature comeback sauce. The Texas toast was buttery and soft, perfect for balancing out the spice. The pickles added that tangy bite that cuts through the richness of the chicken, and the comeback sauce tied everything together--it's creamy, slightly tangy, and honestly addicting. I also ordered the Cluckin' fries, which come loaded with their comeback sauce and your choice of heat on the chicken. These were a whole meal on their own. Crispy fries topped with flavorful chicken and sauce--it's messy in the best way possible. I gave their mac & cheese a try too--it was okay, not bad, but definitely not the standout compared to everything else. Stick to the chicken and fries and you'll be happy. Pro tip: let your friends order extra pickles... you're gonna want more once you start eating. Overall, Cluck and Blaze delivers on flavor, portion size, and that classic Nashville hot chicken experience. Jay Bird's Chicken - Mac Daddy Sandwich Review 2.5/5 stars…read moreI went in hyped for their signature Mac Daddy--a Nashville hot chicken sandwich topped with mac & cheese, comeback sauce, and served on a brioche bun (usually with spicy fries on the side). It's one of their most popular items, and plenty of people rave about the juicy chicken and creative twist. Unfortunately, it fell flat for me. The chicken itself was mediocre at best--decently crispy on the outside and juicy enough, but it lacked that bold, flavorful punch you expect from real Nashville hot spots. The seasoning felt muted compared to places like Howlin' Rays, Dave's, or even Prince's back in Nashville. It just didn't have the same depth or soul in the spice blend. The "hot" level was a big letdown too. I went for some heat, but there was barely any burn or lingering kick--it was more like mild cayenne vibes than anything that lives up to the Nashville hot name. Same issue with the tenders; they were fine texturally but underwhelming in flavor and spice. The mac & cheese topping was okay--creamy and cheesy--but it didn't elevate the sandwich much. Overall, it felt like a gimmicky add-on rather than a game-changer, and the whole thing came across as average fast-casual fried chicken rather than standout hot chicken. If you're craving legit flavorful, fiery Nashville-style chicken in the LA area, I'd probably skip Jay Bird's and hit up one of the heavier hitters instead. Solid concept, but execution was just meh this time. Maybe consistency varies by location or day, but based on this visit: not worth a repeat for me.

Their menu is consistent with most Mexican fast food restaurant's menus, offering bowls, plates, burritos, tacos etc.. but with a focus on their distinctly tasty grilled Chicken. They use fresh Chicken. Not frozen. They flame grill their chicken to give it a charred taste. They have 2 main sauces or marinades that give their chicken that distinct flavor, including lemon garlic and spicy cayenne lemon garlic. My usual order is the 8 piece Chicken only (so, that's a whole Chicken), Lemon garlic sauce. I usually get an extra side of the lemon garlic to pour on top of the chicken. It is delicious. I get a side of the Cole slaw and a side of the black bean. Sometime I also get an order of the seasoned fries with extra seasoning. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and prices are average. It is the perfect meal anytime, but especially on a night when you just don't feel like making dinner. I recommend trying Charo Chicken.
