There's something quietly meaningful about a place where you share your first meal as a married couple, and Marlena made that moment really lovely. The pastas are delightful and the wine list is great, which honestly is all I need to feel good about a spot. My husband is a pizza person through and through, and even though Marlena is not really positioned as a pizza place, the pizza won him over completely. That says a lot. The ambiance is wonderful and the fact that it's mostly outdoors makes it dog friendly, which is always a bonus for us. The food across the board is just solid and well executed without trying too hard to be anything other than what it is. POOR SERVICE I took a longtime friend here for brunch to celebrate his birthday, and unfortunately, I left wishing I had better things to say. When I made the reservation, I was asked whether we were celebrating a special occasion. I said yes--it was my friend's birthday. When we arrived, our server acknowledged it by saying, "I hear we're celebrating a birthday," which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the service went downhill from there. We waited quite a while before our server took our order, even though she attended to two nearby tables multiple times first. I couldn't help but notice that those tables appeared to receive more attentive service than we did. I don't know the reason, but it certainly left us feeling overlooked. We ordered three dishes to share, yet we rarely saw our server afterward. In fact, we had more interaction with the busser than with our server. After brunch, two dessert menus were silently dropped on our table by someone other than our server. Since the restaurant had asked about the birthday twice--once during the reservation and again upon arrival--it felt odd. It almost gave the impression they thought we were expecting a complimentary dessert, even though we never asked for one. We ordered a single dessert to share, and our server eventually brought it out, then returned moments later with a candle. I don't expect complimentary desserts or special treatment. My only suggestion is this: if a restaurant asks guests whether they're celebrating a special occasion, there should be some meaningful acknowledgment--or simply don't ask. Otherwise, it creates unnecessary expectations. More than anything, I felt disappointed for my friend, whose birthday brunch should have felt more welcoming and memorable. FOOD The meal itself was a mix of highs and lows. The standouts were the peaches and burrata and the blue oyster mushroom pizza--both were excellent. The baked eggs, however, missed the mark because the yolks were completely overcooked and solid. The burnt cheesecake was another disappointment. While Basque cheesecake should have a deeply caramelized, dark brown exterior, this one was so blackened that it tasted bitter. One helpful tip: mimosas are available even though they aren't listed on the menu. They cost $18 per glass. ATMOSPHERE The restaurant itself is beautiful. The modern design and patio-style seating create a bright, inviting space with a pleasant breeze on a nice day. Unfortunately, the inattentive service overshadowed what could have been a wonderful atmosphere. Would I return? I loved Marlena for dinner so much that I had to come back for brunch. I'm actually not a fan of brunch or breakfast foods in general, but I had a feeling that Marlena could change that. I got the biscuits and gravy, lemon ricotta pancakes, and breakfast pizza. The biscuits and gravy were SO GOOD, I just wish they gave me more! I might've been in a food coma all day though. The biscuits are very buttery, and the gravy is very thick, so it's a decadent and heavy breakfast for sure. The lemon ricotta pancakes were light, fluffy, and bright. I enjoyed brunch in an open, airy space where you could really feel the ocean breeze. The crispy cauliflower was perfectly seasoned with cumin, the chopped salad was packed with radicchio, and the prosciutto pizza was delicious--though I wish it had come with a bit more prosciutto. Marlena might be one of the best spots you may have never heard of, it's such a sleeper! I've been spending more time around the Long Beach area recently and this spot as the best ranch I've ever tried (made in house with a few special ingredients). The pizzas here are phenomenal as well, and the service is very fast in front friendly. The ambiance is nice, and they have parking! (Not a huge lot though.) I highly recommend the red sauce pizzas, that's definitely where it's at. It might have one of the best margarita pizzas in LA! Never saw this place until a few weeks ago when I was looking for parking for another restaurant and noticed this place. It just looked like a really cool, hip place. I told our group about it and we went last night. All 6 of us LOVED our food and the vibe. Its low key but stylish. Great little bar area to pop in for a bite and drink. Favs: the bread is amazing! Plain grilled or with tomato. Mushroom pizza which i ordered..FANTASTIC! To begin, we were seated in a covered patio (with heater overhead for cooler evenings). I appreciate a menu that is not super overwhelming. We are pretty particular on what we order and everything on the menu was definitely to our liking. We started the evening with: Marlena Martini (gin) - dry vermouth, thyme liqueur, orange bitters, salt. Onion garnish. Maid in Spain - Gin, cucumber, manzanilla, celery bitters, saline, lemon, soda. Mint sprig garnish. For our meal: Salad to start - chicories and apples, goat cheese, spiced walnuts, cippolini onion vinaigrette. Loved every bite Entree - the 16 oz Pachamama pork chop, brown butter, apple, sage, potato pave. High quality, pasture-raised heritage. Happy pigs :) Brussels sprouts - tahini cashew yogurt, pomegranate molasses, mint, dill, baharat. Lovely. Bread - Bianco. Rosemary, black pepper, evoo. Perfect for scarpetta. I came for my first time on my birthday and it felt perfect! Such a cool neighborhood bar and restaurant in Naples, I feel like it's a hidden gem being out of sight from the road. It's a perfect date spot with immaculate vibes and a cool modern mediterranean aesthetic feel. I made a reservation here for a date night and a seperate Valentines brunch. First time I came here, we tried their Bolognese spaghetti and one of their caesar salad. The spaghetti was salty and the caesar was tasty, I should've added a protein on this. Overall a pretty good experience but not enough that we tried to get the full experience. For Brunch, Marlena goes absolutely crazy! We got their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, the blueberry compete was a good touch. The Rosti was amazing, the cilantro lebni sauce was so unique and enjoyed how it sat on a hashbrown. I would get this again forsure. Then to finish it off, I got the breakfast sandwich which was so flavorful, the laminated biscuit was soft and the bacon was like that thickly cut one that melts in your mouth. All of their breakfast items were great and the whole menu sounded delicious. When we asked our waiter what he recommends, he just read off the whole menu haha. Ever since my friend, Lynn told me about this place I've been craving it! I'm always on the hunt for good pizza places in Long Beach (let's get real, California doesn't usually shine in the pizza category) This place is an absolute pizza gem I came here on a Friday with Jay S. I made a reservation which was really easy and I highly recommend it, the place was packed. They also have private parking and street parking The whole atmosphere is great. I love the modern layout and it had great lighting. The place was extremely clean as well. We got seated immediately and everyone was extremely nice especially Elyse (who was our main waitress) and Joaquin who kept coming around bringing us our food and checking on us. 5 stars for them To be honest, I really was hoping they had more pasta options. But, their pizza options made up for it. I started off with ordering a cocktail recommended by Elyse -LIMONANA Egyptian-style creamy limeade and mint. You then get to pick which alcohol you want. I went with vodka, obviously. This was extremely dangerous! I could have had 10 of these. It was so refreshing. I haven't had a good cocktail like this in a while. They also recommend it as a mocktail. It tasted just like a Brazilian lemonade 10/10 And the Las Manzas- Tequila, manzanilla, lemon juice, apple syrup, soda and cinnamon Then it was pizza time! -Mozzarella, bianco tomato, basil, olive oil (this was pretty much a Margherita pizza) the pizza sauce on this was outstanding. It was so incredibly fresh, the seasoning and everything about it was literal perfection. Don't get me started on the crust! Then - Blue oyster mushrooms, porcini crean fontina, olives, marjoram Also, had to get ranch to dip the crust in. The ranch is homemade and you could tell it was homemade with dill but it also had this amazing unique warmth to it. Our waitress, Elyse told us it was a Moroccan blend of spices and it also had cinnamon in it (trust me, it works) perfect 10/10 And for dessert! I'm embarrassed to admit this was my first time trying -Basque cheesecake. Which, was delicious. Since it was my first time trying it, I can't say if it was the best or not. this is a great date night or out with your girlfriends type of spot I really want to try some of their other pizzas. First time trying out their Happy Hour! We have been to many dinners and Brunches at Marlena and always impressed at the food, service, and cocktail program! Their Happy Hour includes some very creative cocktails and appetizers! Service was excellent! Matt was our server and bartender! He suggested great drinks and appetizers! When we finished up dinner was just starting up. We weren't hungry but wished we were to order off the main menu too! Only the Happy Hour Menu is available but if you are their into.the dinner start, the full menu is avaliable. I will say the Happy Hour Menu has plenty on it for options to fill you up and also enjoy a variety of bites! We ordered several appetizers served on Crostini. Marinated Olives and meatballs. This is specifically in reference to the "cafe" , and not the dinner service. As with dinner, the outdoor seating makes for a lovely local spot for a morning coffee. But best to keep expectations moderated, as it's not going to approach an actual cafe. Coffee was par but with Naples price point. Pastry selection is small, and there's no formal way to warm any pastries, so my croissant was cold and soggy in spots, although generally well laminated. And while service was appropriately fast for me being the only patron at the time, the barkeep/barista had a peculiar manner. But major props for the 80s synth pop playlist. read more

3.5 stars for me. I've dined at Marlena a couple of times now and have mixed feelings. Most of the drinks and dishes were outstanding. Service was a bit inconsistent. During my last visit, our server seemed like she didn't want to be there. We asked for a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and she tried to up charge us with a $200 bottle of Chardonnay. We went with a $50 bottle that was more light and crisp, like a Sauv Blanc that we wanted. From that moment, she seemed to give us a judgmental attitude and bad vibes whenever she came back to our table. The Grilled Spanish Octopus was one of the best I've had. The octopus was incredibly tender and the romesco sauce was rich and creamy. The Roasted Baby Yams with pistachio pesto, fennel and maldon was bursting with flavors and textures. Their pizzas are Neapolitan style with soft, thin crusts and fresh toppings. I loved the combination of the Prosciutto, piquillo puree, peperonata, stracchino, hot honey, and arugula. The pistachio-crusted Australian rack of lamb was cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection with spiced labneh and couscous. The Burnt Basque Cheesecake was okay. Their cocktails are creatively crafted, not too sweet and currently priced at $17. My favorites are the Marlena Martini with vodka, dry vermouth, thyme liqueur, orange bitters, salt and the Vaquero with tequila, mezcal, lime, orgeat, absinthe and mint. Both are strong, but balanced. I was excited to come here and i think this is a solid place to come and dine. The front desk greeted us warmly and seated right away. We had a reservation made in open table. The place feels casual with a modern feel, space is open and the table spacing was adequate, although we can hear the conversations around us, we were still able to hold a conversation of our own. Now on with the food, we ordered a chopped salad to start and main meal was blue oyster pizza and short rib parpadelle. The parpadelle was too al dente for my preference and a bit of a kick which i was not expecting, it was good but I wasn't even interested in taking my leftover home. Pizza was good wood fired, it just feels the pizza crust and toppings ratio was off, it was more pizza than the toppings and the crust was not crunchy for my liking. But it was thin and has a good wood fire cook. I think these are difference in preference. The best part is the cheesecake so I would not skip on that paired with a cappuccino it was delicious. Genuinely could not recommend this place enough. The staff is ridiculously friendly. Parking was easy to find in the neighborhood and I went with my friend who is a local and we did a cute little walky walk around Naples neighborhood and took a look at all the stunning houses and cute Halloween decorations they had up. The restaurant is all outdoors. We went at night and it's beautiful. The ambiance is romantic and chic. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be having a blast. The food is amazing. We ordered the little gem lettuce salad which had anchovies and was dressed to perfection. The gem lettuce was so crispy and refreshing. Then we got the prosciutto hot honey pizza which tasted exactly how I wanted it to taste... perfect. The hot honey was addicting. And loved how it was topped with arugula. We also ordered a beef tartare which uses thicker pieces of meat. This one wasn't our favorite. It could use a bit of salt and the veggies I don't think paired the best with the meat but I loved the Parmesan chip on the side and it tasted really healthy at least. I really wanted an affogato but they only had caramel or chocolate ice cream but I'm a vanilla girly so that was sad. I'll admit, I'm not very knowledgeable about what there is to do in the 562 so I had to do what I always do before doing absolutely ANYTHING: Consult Reddit. Buying a water bottle? Bread? Toothpaste? Reddit. While Reddit has failed me a couple times last month, last night was not the case! I discovered Marlena from a post almost a year ago. It was 9 PM and I was parked in a random shopping center a mile away. I gave the yelp a quick look and said screw it. I trust you random internet strangers. Fortunately they pulled through this time. My friend and I ordered meatballs to start off with, a pizza, and Maine lobster ravioli. Pachamama Pork Meatballs: An excellent dish to start off our meal. The meatballs were juicy with a nice chew. Not overly dense and dry; they were just right. The sauce was spot-on. Very balanced. The bread had the perfect amount of char with just a kiss of smoke from the grill. There was an interesting after taste with the meatballs though which was reminiscent of something medicinal I've had before, but I couldn't figure it out. It wasn't bad or off-putting, but it did linger a bit. My friend didn't notice it at first, but after I pointed it out, they began to notice it too. Again, not bad, but just sorta curious as to what it might be. Prosciutto, piquillo puree, peperonata, stracchino, hot honey, arugula pizza: I was floored at how delicious this pizza was. I recently ate at a pizzeria in West LA that was supposedly #1 in the city (country maybe?) and that was such a massive disappointment. The pizza here last night made up for it completely. All the ingredients on the pizza, all the flavors, the dough; everything just working together to make the most addictive thing I've had in awhile. Maine lobster ravioli: Out of the 3, I have to say this one was the most lacking. I loved that they were "generous" with the ravioli since a lot of places only give you literally like 3-4 pieces which is why I'm always very skeptical about ordering ravioli. Flavor wise, it was all there. It just needed some salt to highlight the dish to really make it stand out. Not bad though. However, the sauce was maybe just a little too "simple" for my preference. Service was great! Our server was really friendly and the person I spoke to over the phone was nice too. Although I did sense a little bit of passive-aggressiveness when I spoke to the host to be seated. Listen, I get it. I used to work in food too and it sucks when people come in right before closing, but I arrived with a solid hour to go and I called see when the kitchen was closing. If it was close to closing, that would've been a no-brainer to come back a different night. Anyway, I can't wait to come back in the very near future! I have a few items on the menu I would love to try. I just wish I discovered this place during summer! I love this restaurant in the summer months when it's warm out! I can't believe I haven't updated my review because I've been back so many times after my first visit that I can't even count. Some favorites that I've recently really enjoyed include the beets, farro and herbed yogurt dish (my fav!), figs and burrata, meatballs, grilled octopus, and halibut. I also tried the spicy salami pizza again and it wasn't crazy spicy this time so we enjoyed it much more than the first time we tried it. On this last visit we ended our meal with the chocolate olive oil cake. It was so moist and a really delicious way to end our meal. read more

The people who work here are so friendly and the food is delicious. When the weather is beautiful it's really amazing to sit in their comfortable chairs with the lights up and breeze coming in off the water. They really try to accommodate you even when busy. Had a wonderful weeknight dinner with friends last week at Marlena. There's something special about sitting outside on a warm evening - good food, great company and a relaxing vibe. We shared the following: scallop crudo, crispy fried cauliflower, Spanish octopus, little gem salad, pappardelle with oxtail ragu, spicy salami pizza and burnt Basque cheesecake. Sorry sis, but Marlena, you were not it. I came on a Wednesday evening for some catch up dinner with my friend. The vibes were actually pretty nice when we walked in. Everyone was well dressed, the patio is romantic, the Naples air was actually cool but not cold! But my friend and I both agreed, the night got worse as it went on. Our server Cait was super sweet and let us know of the specials and made recommendations for drinks. I got the vaquero, which resembles a smoky margarita, but I subbed out the orgeat syrup for a simple syrup due to a nut allergy in our party. It took a while for our drinks to come in, maybe about half an hour into our reservation. We ordered the Beets and Farro to start, the papardelle for pasta, and a prosciutto pizza. But 50 mins into our rezzy, not a single dish had come out. But good things come to those who wait, right? Wrong. The Beets and Farro bowl picture speaks for itself. It was served exactly how it was pictured. If the bowl was going to be half empty, they might as well have found a smaller dish for it to look more full? We also thought papardelle would be a safe choice for pasta. However it was a total of maybe 5 noodles and some of the blandest pasta we've ever had. It definitely needed a little more seasoning. And the pizza? CHARRED! One of my friend's slices was completely solid black at the bottom. In the picture, you can even see one of the dough bubbles completely charred (no that's not an olive or topping). All that (plus my friend's drink, not pictured but she didn't enjoy it either) came out to over $120. AND we even struggled for parking (it's Naples so what could we have expected). Overall, if you're looking for cute vibes but don't mind a bit slower of service and aren't there to satisfy your palette, then Marlena it is. But for me? Been there, done that. Fantastic Mother's Day dinner! We ordered a lot, and loved almost everything. The highlights were the olives, the pesto pasta and the stuffed dorade. My kids loved the margarita pizza and the Brussels were very good as well. The little gems was very nice too. We didn't love the mushroom pizza (too much cheese and not enough mushroom) and the cauliflower was a little salty. Great service and their freshly baked breads/ pizzas were delicious. Now to the bad part... Bolognese - was a 1/10 in quantity quality and flavors. Tasted like boiled ground beef over spaghetti. There was no flavor. No salt, no garlic . It was absolutely a shame for $32. Branzino - flavors were mediocre. The fish was juicy and tender but the choice of seasoning was mid. Also it could have been served over a bed of rice / pasta or something .. it literally costs nothing to add some carbs which would have soaked up the flavor nicely . It was blah. Don't want to trash the restaurant... it hard out here. Staff was warm and welcoming and the kitchen staff were working hard. Grabbed two seats at the bar and immediately felt taken care of the team was warm, upbeat, and dialed in. The room has a nice buzz without being chaotic, perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. Drinks I started with the LIMONANA it was creamy, refreshing, and balanced. My girlfriend went with LAS MANZAS, which was bright and very fall forward think crisp apple and spice vibes both were delicious. Starters * Beef Tartare - unique in the best way and seriously tasty. * Bianco Bread - great on its own, but pro tip ask for a side of balsamic it really sets the flavors off. * Chopped Salad - the one miss for us. The radicchio as the base read a bit too bitter not awful just not something we'd reorder. Mains (Pizza) We split the Mozzarella and the Spicy Salami. These are Neapolitan style pies (usually not my go to), but Marlena delivers beautiful leoparding, light yet crispy crust, and not a lot of flop. Flavor and texture were on point I'd give it a solid 8/10. Dessert + Nightcap The Burnt Basque Cheesecake was just okay but not memorable. We paired it with the "Don't tell!" cocktail which was a standout very delicious and it packs a punch. Value & Service Pricing feels perfectly set for the quality, and service was excellent from start to finish. Bottom line A very good night with thoughtful cocktails, strong pizzas, and genuinely welcoming service. A couple tweaks (swap the chopped salad and level up that cheesecake) and this is an easy 5. Cute place with great service! Our server (forgot his name) was so incredible and nice. We had a group of 6 celebrating my friends birthday and he was amazing. I got the bourbon vanilla latte which was delicious. To eat I had the Prosciutto pizza which was big enough but not too big for one person. Would recommend to anyone! Parking was on the street but we had no issue. Place was cute & modern. read more

Eliyse, our server, was very attentive. She replaced our silverware after our first course, suggested a very great Nebbiolo by the glass, and boxed the leftovers for us. Great spot for the birthday celebration dinner! It was my father in law's birthday so we had a small group of about 10 people. Reservations were manageable to get on a Sunday night of a long weekend but the restaurant was pretty full so I recommend making reservations in advance. We ordered all the dishes 'family style', which was what our waitress recommended we do. All the food was delicious. For the apps, I recommend the meatballs and the fried cauliflower. The drink I ordered was very good! I couldn't even finish it all. That one drink was plenty. The pizza was really good but I recommend a pizza with a tomato sauce base as the other pizzas tasted more like flat breads or seasoned bread. For my father in law's birthday they gave us a complimentary soft serve ice cream which was really good! The chocolate cake was also very good! Overall, you can't go wrong with the food here! Stopped by this newish place with good friends to commemorate a special friend. We arrived in time to enjoy the Happy Hour offerings. The service was as so nice! This is a place that really gets the "hospitality" piece of the restaurant business. A special shout out to the bar program manager...super guy!! We started with a cocktail. Mine was a Happy Hour special...very refreshing with a float of red wine on top (So good that I actually had two). We sampled all the "toasts", there were 4 or 5 different toppings to choose from. We cut each one into thirds, so we could each taste them all! The meatballs were awesome! As was the mushroom pizza. This place is very cleverly designed to be an open patio or enclosed space, depending on weather. The day we were here was a quintessential perfect Long Beach summer evening. The decor, serve ware and fabric napkins were all very nice, befitting an elegant place. As we lingered, enjoying our time and feast, I noticed that the restaurant was filling up quickly...on a Monday night. Reservations are suggested. Parking lot. read more
