What a great spot tucked away in the UTC mall, really transports you to Spain. We sat in the patio section; tables were nice light wood, and we were surrounded by vegetation, giving off a very farm to table vibe. The mocktails were refreshing and balanced!!I was so glad they weren't to sweet. We indulged in the Sierra Sunset, which came on a light up coaster showing off the sunset colors. And also the Lychee's & Cream, which was my favorite. I think it was the use of the kaffir yogurt that really balanced the mocktail and set it apart. The tapas we had were the Salmon Tartar, Patatas Bravas (add crispy Jamon), and Wagyu Empanadas. The citru notes in the salmon tartar really made this dish sing to me; bouncing off the creaminess of the avocado mouse and the richness of the salmon, then finishing with the crunch of the tostada. The Patatas Bravas were nice and crispy, and toped with a creamy aoil then a spicy Bravas sauce with added a nice spice and depth to the dish. However, adding the crispy Jamon is definitely the way to go if you order this dish!! Those Wagyu Empanadas were just the right ratio of meat to dough. Then those Manchego cheese cracker not only are a nice crunch, but also bring a nuttiness that balances the richness of the meat and that succulent mole sauce. Next was the burrata bowl, another favorite of mine. This must have been a whole burrata ball spread out and topped with cherry tomatoes an herbal basil sauce and crunchy kale chips. They even have us some tostada chips to dip in this delicious burrata bowl. They have a whole pallela section under the main dishes, so of course we had to try this out. We went with the Paella Negra; squid ink, gulf shrimp, clams, scallops and broccolini, and of course we added the Iberian ham. This was so decadent and delicious. Definitely recommend topping it off with a squeeze of the lemon they provide you with, it complements the dish. The corrners of the rice were nice and crispy, while the center remind fluffy. Shrimp were cooked to perfection, the dolops of aoli complemented the side ink rice. The addition of the Iberian ham really brought a smokey and salty addition to this dish. To end the night we decided to indulge in the desert trio, this included churros, an orange Mochi, torrija and ice cream. The orange Mochi was light and delicious and definitely and Instagram-able dish. But the one that stole the show for me, was the torrija. This was pretty difficult place to find as we walked around the mall and found out the entrance was on the outside. This restaurant specializes in Spanish tapas style, so it's good to share here. Wagyu Empanada (5/5): Super packed with meat and flavorful. The crust was baked to perfection Crab Croquettas (5/5); filled with crab and topped with tuna sashimi. I found the sashimi unnecessary but the crab filling was flavorful. Iberian oysters (4/5): Amazing presentation with the dry ice, but I felt like the oysters were not very tender and kind of hard. The flavor from the oyster was mild, but the sauce was good. Grilled octopus (5/5): This was so amazing. The meat was tender and the spices complemented it well. Prime Wellington (5/5); This probably won't make you fool but wow this was great. I really liked the meatballs. Paella Negra (5/5): Now time for the headliners. This had seafood mixed with squid ink. Brought my partner her for their birthday. We are tapas fanatics so maybe a but bias. The hostess was solid. Greeted upon entry and very friendly. They accommodated a birthday cake fridge request which I appreciated. Finally it was cool that the manager came around to each table with a taste of sangria. Now the negatives: Heat- after about 20 minutes at our table we found out the window behind all tables were open but ours. I proceed to ask to have it happened and the waiter asks me to help him open the window as it's heavy...odd request for a customer. In addition there were atleast 4 times during the meal where our empty plates were not cleared for 15-20 minutes at a time when new food was brought out which made it hard to enjoy food at times. Now to the food. It was all edible however for example the patatas bravas was mush and not crispy at all. The meatballs were more like Italian meatballs rather than anything resembling Spanish flavoring. And the garlic shrimp had no taste of garlic. Which was odd. Overall it was an OK meal but thats about it a 3.5 at best. My partner was disappointed with the meal overall. I was just ok with it. I wouldn't recommend them if you want true Spanish tapas. This was a pretty disappointing experience. We came here since the ratings looked good. We had a large size party. Twelve of us got the prix fixe menu and the kids got their own things. The atmosphere is nice but the service was meh. We were like one of the only tables there. I jokingly started the day by saying that we could all sit at one table and order the prix fixe menu and prob get more food that way. There were more than enough open tables to do so. 45 dollars per person so a total of $540 for just prix fixe food alone. They said every 4 people, they serve one paella (they have their 2 cheapest paellas to choose from), same applied for appetizers. Appetizers included, crab croquettes, potatoes, empanadas, and cauliflower, and churros. So...math-wise Ill talk about food then do math. -Potatoes: a bowl of potatoes. we didn't them because it lacked flavor and felt like they were sitting out for a bit. -Cauliflower: small plate of it to split between four people. I thought they were fine. -1x crab croquette per person: small. one bite. nicely fried. sashimi just falls off. Use sauce to hold it in place or something. -1x empanada per person: honestly a waste of wagyu for how they cook it. dry. unflavorful. -paella: we got both veggie and mixto. I tried the mixto. There was literally enough to just feed me. The shrimp had poor texture to them. The pork belly was not memorable. Based off their menu being plural, I assume each order of croquetes and empanadas is 2. bowl potatoes: 10 x 3 = 30 plate of cauliflower: 12 x 3 = 36 2 x crab croquettes: 12 x 6 = 72 2x wagyu empanadas: 18 x 6 = 108 churros (6 churros based on menu pic): 12 x 3 = 36 paellas 47ish x 3= 141 Total: 423 My math is either off or their serving sizes are really skimping out. How exciting we have a Spanish restaurant in north San Diego! The place is beautifully decorated, airy and open. It can get really loud as people gather to drink and eat. The food was really authentic. The Spanish albondigas were tender and flavorful. Lobster Paella was the star of the show. Seafood and rice were perfectly cooked. Loved the flavor profile and the lemon and garlic aioli enhanced the dish. Portions were generous. I visited this location for a friend's event and was part of a large party. The parking is very difficult. The ambiance is nice and open. We got a flight of differwnt flavor margaritas and the drinks were not strong at all. The food was not good and the prices were high. We ordered the grilled octopus and ahi tacos for appetizer. For entree, we had the pan of rice with seafood on top. The portion of seafood was so small for the large party. It was ridiculous. The service was terrible. It's been awhile since we had this visit. But I remember really enjoying it. I had been to the one in Los Angeles. Which was good. But this experience surpassed that for sure. My fiancé and I came on Valentine's Day, on a whim, on our way to a show. Not knowing how crazy and packed the place would actually be. We went up to the hostess and explained the situation, and at first it was an "impossible." But the hostess or manager (I think her name was Mariate or something similar), somehow made it work. There was a table next door to the entrance, that I'm assuming they didn't really use because of placement. But she was able to seat us there at the perfect time. Super grateful for that! Our waiter, I think Alvaro, was really nice. He explained the menu and had different recommendations. We got a few speciality cocktails. And tried the Sangria flight (my personal fave, must try them all!) I got the spicy tuna tacos and garlic shrimp plate. My fiancé is vegan, so I'm not sure what he got but I remember he really liked it! The decor inside is beautiful. The location is great. All the staff was kind. While I could see the appeal (great location in a newer shopping center, nice decor) I placed a pick up order for the World Cup Finals 24 hours in advance and was unfortunately let down in a few ways: - First, I placed the order via phone rather than online because the pick up window online was too late (11:50 for a noon game leaving no time to drive home and make the start) and the employee assured me that the order would be ready by 11:30am. I arrived at 11:32am and none of the order was ready. Ultimately the final item (a large, ~$70 + tax paella mixta) was not ready until 30 minutes later and by the time I was able to pay and leave it was nearly 12:10pm. - Second, they were totally unprepared for the day. The host kept going back and forth trying to seat patrons and checking on multiple pick up orders. After 20 minutes when everything other than the Paella was ready, I asked multiple times to just deduct it from the order so I could leave and get in the car to attend to my party. No such luck, they had no dedicated personnel handling pick ups and I felt like I was held hostage until the last food item arrived while they also tried to seat the line of patrons building up. When the paella finally arrived, the two bottles of sangria were still missing from the order and another 5 minutes of delay later, they arrived and I was finally allowed to pay. - Third, the large paella was clearly rushed even though it was ready almost 35 minutes after my scheduled pick up time - the rice was too soft (almost like a risotto with too much water added) and the gambas (shrimp) also had a soft grainy texture that tasted awful - we would not have eaten them if not for the cost. This was nothing like the paellas I've had in Spain, with a nice crispy layer to enjoy as a result of the last stage of cooking over a thin, very wide paella pan. The 2 cardboard bowls they split our paella into couldn't have helped. - Finally, some of the order menu photos were misleading. As an example, the ham croquetas show 4 plump round croquettes per order and the reality was 3 small cylinders in too large of a bowl (same cardboard bowls as our paella was split into, but almost comically empty looking and falling apart). While I was empathetic to the staff who was likely not prepared by management for what should have been a massively successful sales day for an authentic Spanish restaurant, I'm not sure the dishes that did work (the empanadas, the pan con tomate, the gambas al ajillo, and even the $29 glass bottles of sangria) made up for the massive miss on the most expensive plate. My experience was not great, and rhe food was okay. Management and our server were not attentive with us, our service seemed very rushed. Our server seemed agitated when we asked his a food suggestion. We had to repeatedly ask for various items like straws, napkins, small plates for shareable food. Our food didn't have any of the garnishment like the ones pictured on this app. We didn't realize it until the table next to us ordered the same item that looked really good, turns out we had the same dish just sans the additional flavor garnishment. They were rushing us to the point, we received the check without them checking to see if we wanted dessert. Turns out we didn't so she took the check back and added an additional drink and dessert. To start, this place is beautiful and in a great, easy to find location. Our hostess was friendly and very welcoming, along with each of the staff. Overall, the food was good but a bit underwhelming. We ordered the wagyu empanadas which were good but would have loved them to be crispy rather than soft. For our entree we shared the Paella Negra which had squid ink rice, shrimp, baby clams, baby scallops and broccolini. This dish was tasty but also we just expected more from it. We were asked if we wanted rice that was crunchy and you can scrape off the pan and we said yes but the rice was soft and not at all crunchy. There was 6 large shrimp, 6 small clams and the baby scallops were so tiny we thought they were pieces of garlic. Aside from the big shrimp, you are left with mostly more rice than anything else since the clams and scallops were so tiny. Even with the empanadas and brussel sprouts it was not a lot but I see the potential on each dish. Teleferic Barcelona is a Spanish restaurant with locations in Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Barcelona. Their tapas and sangrias are delicious, and it's a great way to enjoy good food and drink with good company. Service is slower and deliberate, so plan for a longer meal; however, I think it's because tapas and drinks are meant to be enjoyed and savored amongst good company. Prices are quite high; however, a great time to check out the menu is during Dine LA week, which is going on through Friday, February 6. They have $35 and $55 menus that give you a strong sampling of the menu. For what they offer in Dine LA, you'd easily be paying double on any other week. I highly recommend getting a sangria here as it's very flavorful and delicious. If you're coming in a group, definitely get their sangria flight. My wife prefers the spicy sangria and I like the sweeter Sangria Barcelonetta; however, their telerferic sangria is more red wine forward. If you get a paella, then you should ask for a crispy "socarrat" so that you don't get rice with mushy textures. Their seafood was a little underdone for my preferences; therefore, I prefer their pork paellas to their lobster paellas. I think their paella mixta has a nice balance between the textures of pork and seafood. For dessert, I'm not really a fan of their torrija; however, their churros are enjoyable as they're filled with chocolate and caramel. read more

I really wanted to love this place because I enjoy Spanish cuisine, but unfortunately my first visit had quite a few issues. Ambiance: The ambiance was actually really nice. The space is spacious and the interior is well done, making it a good spot to go with a small group of friends. This was honestly the main reason I didn't rate this place one star. Service: The service, however, was pretty subpar. I had a reservation and arrived a few minutes early. The restaurant was very crowded, which I understand, but we still ended up waiting past our reservation time before being seated. Once we were seated, our server took our order. My husband and I ordered the pork strip steak, wagyu empanada, and pollo empanada. My cousin and her husband ordered the wagyu empanada and the iberico paella. For drinks, my husband ordered a glass of wine, and my cousin and I ordered the sangria flight. We knew the paella would take longer since the menu mentions about a 35-minute cook time, but we ended up waiting almost an hour for our food. When the appetizers came out, they only brought the wagyu empanada and completely forgot the pollo empanada. We asked both the food runner and our server multiple times, and each time we were told, "We'll go check on it" or "We'll look into it." What made it even more frustrating was that the food runner almost brought us someone else's order at one point, which made us think our empanada may have been given to another table. After asking about it 3-4 times and still not receiving it, we eventually asked for it to be removed from the bill. I understand dinner rushes can be hectic, but this shouldn't keep happening. Staff and food runners definitely need better coordination. They also automatically charge an 18% gratuity, which felt a bit much considering the overall experience. And just a heads up -- they do not validate parking, so don't bother asking. Now for the most important part -- the food: Before coming here, we looked this place up and thought the food looked really good, which is why we decided to try it. Unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed. Starting with the empanadas -- the presentation felt unnecessary, and the portion size was extremely small compared to other empanadas I've had. When I think of empanadas, I expect something bigger and more filling, not something the size of a dumpling. It was way too small and not what we were expecting. When our main dishes finally came out, my husband's and my pork strip steak was cold. Not warm -- cold. On top of that, it was very salty. The seasoning was completely overpowering. The paella was also very disappointing. We expected a fluffy bed of rice with the ingredients on top, but instead the rice tasted burnt and overly crispy around the edges, almost like rice chips. The saltiness completely took over the dish. It honestly felt like the rice was left to crisp up before being served. Not the best first experience with paella at all. The only thing we actually enjoyed were the churros. Other than that, the food was very disappointing. I've had my fair share of Spanish food, and this just wasn't it. Stopped by during LA Dine week and overall it was a decent experience. The restaurant is in a nice location, there is plenty of parking around, and the food was good. The only reason it doesn't get five stars will be explained below. The service started off good considering it was very busy and our waiter did his best to keep us updated on our order. The waiter mentioned they were training new kitchen staff so it was causing a delay which is understandable but we were there for over two hours. He was great but it was slow. The Pan Con Tomate was too tomato forward & bland for me and the bread was borderline burnt which was overpowering at times. The Patatas Bravas were excellent, the tuna tacos were excellent, and both the Lobster & Iberico paella were excellent. The drinks were also excellently crafted, especially the Iberico Sour and the Bryans Legacy. The dessert was also good, in particular the churros. Overall, I wasn't too happy about the service but the waiter explained ahead of time which eased our tension at the table. I will definitely return to give the another go. read more

Had a great experience at Telefèric Barcelona Long Beach. The place is beautiful, chic, and has such a nice vibe. The food was amazing, full of flavor, and the presentation made it even more fun. The Ibiza Gin & Tonic and La Flaca with the bubble on top were such cool touches, and the Iberian oyster presentation with the smoke was super entertaining. The lobster paella was definitely the highlight; fresh, super tasty, and absolutely delicious. Service was amazing too, very attentive the whole time. Definitely a great spot for a nice dinner in Long Beach. read more

Environment and service spot on!! Sangrias, delicious. Taco ahi tuna and croquetes were very good, empanada with steak tartar good, meatballs nothing special. Paella was bad. Shrimp were tasteless, a few pieces of meat just to decorate the plate. I would never order that again. read more

This restaurant has been on our list for some time and it was the perfect time to try it with Dine La. Off the bat what ruined my night was having the check handed over with an 18% "service fee" (aka tip) included automatically for a party of 3. I always tip well (and did this time too) but was very annoyed at having that included when it's not a norm. Now, let's talk food: The $35/pp cost came with 3 appetizers for each: crab croqueta, patatas bravas, and gambaa al ajillo. My favorite was the croqueta and patatas bravas which were both extremely tasty. Next up, we opted for the Paella Mixta. We ended up getting 1 between the three of us. It was decent portion however, didn't like that it had very little pork belly (literally 4 tiny pieces). Lastly, we ended with Torrija for dessert which was toast with crème brûlée , ice cream, and passion fruit. The mixture of flavors left you wanting more. The ambiance was very cute for date night. I don't do tapas often but based on location/geography, we chose Teleferic Barcelona as our dinner venue for a small holiday get-together and we were all happy with the venue/ambiance, service as well as the food. They are on the first level of the 2nd & PCH shopping center in Long Beach and on the outside perimeter close to the Whole Foods side so don't park on the other end of the 2nd & PCH center if you don't want a longer walk. I was honored to be a guest to my friend's yelp invite. We received complementary sangrias of choice, ham croquettes, and patatas bravas. We decided to add spanish albondigas as well. For sangrias, we chose the mocktail version of the barceloneta and it was perfection! Beautiful to look at and just the right level of sweetness. The ham croquettes were appetizing, stuffed and cheesy making them the perfect small bite. The patatas were a little salty but I still enjoyed them. It was a spanish twist to chili cheese fries. The albondigas were the best! I'm so glad we added this to our order. From the sauce that the meatballs laid on and the cheese they hand grated on top, I was very pleased by the combination of flavors. Definitely my favorite of the appetizers. Although every dish was small platas, we were satisfied between the 2 of us. The service was amazing as well. Our waitress returned multiple times to fill our water and check in on us. Definitely a beautiful place to come for brunch/lunch! read more
