Came here and it was nice. Girl at the register was very friendly and assisted me right away . I bought some popusas and a burrito to go. Prices are a bit on the higher side. But I did like the popusas so I'll definitely be back to get some. Burrito was $18 which was very expensive considering that it was not the greatest. So definitely not recommended! I've visited twice as a quick stop for my quarterly pupusa mission. The staff are friendly and offer helpful suggestions. I ordered four chicken-spinach and chicken-potato (for dinner and the next day's lunch). They are reasonably priced ~$4.99, considering each pupusa has ample ingredients. They were fresh and delicious, without being overbearing with cheese. The pair for lunch were great and I even shared with a few of my students who kept spying the food with saucer eyes. If you love flavorful food this is the place to be. Excellent service! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food is impeccable! The vibes are very relaxed and family oriented. They have fresh bakery options for after a hearty meal! The only thing to be mindful of is parking is rather hard to find especially if you come on a weekend. Your best bet is to park in the neighborhoods and walk over. I am a huge lover of any type of Latin foods and this place will not disappoint! You will come back to taste it again! I've only eaten 2 x at the restaurant and ordered for pick up a few times, so this was my 3rd sit in. And I usually love the food they serve from the mini tortillas with black beans to the traditional pupusas and central American breakfast dishes. I was craving a non traditional pupusa, so I went with a shrimp and cheese, ordered a tamarindo drink to go along with it, very good freshly made, the best I've had in a long time! And although the pupusa was tasty, cheesy and a good size bcs it's $6.99, I realized that it was bay shrimp, so I was disappointed, what made it worse is that sadly, the shrimp wasn't deveined...didn't expect this quality. Bummed. Quality vs quantity, suggestion, maybe get 3 bigger shrimp and chop it up and lil pieces will be mixed with cheese or at least clean up the bay shrimp. read more

Everything here is always so yummy! Today I had the Chicken Pepian and it did not disappoint! So flavorful and the chicken and vegetables were cooked to perfection. Chicken was tender and moist and the vegetables were the perfect balance of soft and fresh. When I picked up my takeout I also grabbed a fresh baked blueberry muffin for breakfast (forgot to take pic before I started eating). Luckily I live down the street so I've had lots of their pupusas as well as the cream chicken!!!!! Everything is always made with love and delicious. Service is always great too. Food is good. I've had their pupusas. Their food takes a while so I made several attempts to place an order over the phone for pick up. They answer the call but I'm placed on hold for a long time every time I call. They never managed to take my order. If you have time to go there and wait you'll be good- food is good. This place should have a higher rating. Pupusas are my favorite food in the whole world. I've tried every pupusa spot in Long Beach, and La Esperanza is absolutely the best! They are large in size and full of fillings, but what really seals the deal for me is their salsa and curtido. Probably the best curtido I've ever had. Wow I wish I knew about this place sooner! The food is so delicious and the service is the best. Came here for breakfast and the portion sizing for the prices were 100% worth it. The food was so flavorful and everything was made FRESH. You can really taste the quality and care in the food. The tamales were the perfect texture, my mouth is watering looking back at these pictures. The ambiance was warm and made me feel transported to El Salvador. I seriously can't wait to come back. I've only visited once and now I love this place. As we were leaving they gave us a huge slice of complimentary chocolate leche flan, so delicious. There's parking in the back of the building. 5 stars in everything category and I don't say this lightly so definitely check it out! read more

My daughter and I were driving around looking for a restaurant and am so grateful La Esperanza was the restaurant we came upon. Oh my goodness!!! Not only was my tummy incredibly delighted but so was my heart! It instantly brought memories and tastes from my grandparents food!! I always share the stories with my daughter (14yrs old) and this was EXACTLY the experiences that I always wanted her to have. Recently, we enjoyed a takeout meal of pupusas, black beans, and rice. All items were of excellent quality; I was particularly impressed with the black beans and the distinctive rice. The pupusas were the highlight of the meal and quite exceptional. While we appreciated the bean and cheese pupusa, our overall favorite was the vegetable variety, especially when paired with their tangy curtido--delicious. I ordered 2 papusas and a pork and red sauced tamale. The tamale was okay. Nice corn sweetness, spicy yet bearable, but the pork was a little on the dry side and could've used more seasoning. The papusas on the other hand were excellent. I got one with beans/cheese/chicharrón, and one with beans, cheese, loroco, and chorizo. This was my first time trying this dish and I'm officially a new fan. Soft, savory, and flavorful. Pupusas here are very very good! I love coming here when I get those cravings. The horchata salvadoreña is delicious in my opinion. I know people have mixed reviews in regard to the horchata. I love the complimentary mini tortillas with beans they give you while you wait for your food. I've been having a hard time finding an authentic Salvadoran spot in LB, but I found this place on Yelp and decided to dine in. I tried the caldo de gallina, pupusa de revuelta, and pastelitos. They didn't disappoint! The pupusa had a different masa texture than what I'm use to but it was still good. This place also has a mixture of Guatemalan food/Mexican. La Esperanza is a little Salvadorian/Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood that offers comforting food. My GF and I came here to pick up some food for lunch. I ended up getting their chilaquiles, which included rice, beans, and two eggs (made your way). The entire thing was $18. The chips had lots of flavor. The portion of the rice and beans were small but they were good. I liked that the rice was flavored rice. The eggs were cooked perfectly the way I liked them. My GF got tacos and popusas which she enjoyed. We picked up but the inside of this place casual. There's a few places to sit and enjoy. I like that they had a large variety of different dishes. I would like to come back and try their other items. The lady that rung us up was really nice. The food didn't take that long.
