Tarantella on 4th is located on retro row snuggled in the middle of the block. Don't walk to fast because you might miss it, like I did. When I walked back I don't know how I missed it because there's a seating area in the street. When I walked in I saw a small area with tables and chairs. I walked to the bar area where someone was there to check me in, we were seated right away. Our table was out back where it is set up very cozy; one of the employees told us they have live music on certain nights so we planned to go back to enjoy it. When you sit down they offer you warm bread and grass fed butter. Our food was good, think it mostly would taste better the next day. I usually enjoy pasta much more on the second day as the flavors have set in. Parking is a challenge, as they do not have a parking lot; there's metered street parking but you may need to drive around to find an open spot. There's also a small paid parking lot on the corner.

Ok gang, I get it - - this is supposed to be a nice Italian spot. But the portions? Shockingly small. And the single complimentary bread basket didn't make a dent. SMALLEST RAVIOLI PORTION EVER ($28.50) $28 for nine small raviolis. Yes, nine. We ordered from the special menu--about a 6/10 on flavor, 2/10 on portion size. DECENT LASAGNA ($25) Really tasty and hearty, but still small for the price. 8/10 flavor, 7/10 portion. SIDE OF 2 MEATBALLS ($5) Pretty solid overall. 8/10 flavor, 7/10 portion. TOTAL BILL BREAKDOWN After tip, we paid $75 for a 3"x3" lasagna, 9 raviolis, 2 meatballs, and 6 small pieces of bread. Almost a week's worth of groceries. FINAL THOUGHT Only worth it if you sit on the back patio and enjoy the live music. Eating inside without any ambiance makes the prices feel insanely high for what you get. SERVICE Friendly, fast, and genuinely good - - only kudos in this section!

This is a very cozy and intimate spot for dinner or a date. The interior is alright, but it's the backyard patio that steals the spotlight. They have quite a cute setup back there with string lights, plants, and live music nightly. While the live music was just 1 guy playing the saxophone, it was still a vibe. The food was pretty good and tasted very authentic. We ordered 3 dishes: fried risotto, lobster pasta, and the sirloin steak. The fried risotto did not taste very risotto-y, but was delicious nonetheless. The lobster pasta was also pretty savory, but I feel like the pasta quality itself could have been better. The sirloin steak was an interesting dish, steak itself was decent. The veggies that came on the side was quite refreshing with the slight tartness. The complementary bread that came in the beginning was also amazingly soft and fluffy. With some warm butter it was exquisite. Service was also pretty quick and welcoming. I would come back to try the other dishes if I were in the area.

We booked this place on resy to utilize my amex credit. In the front it looks just like any other small italian resturant but the real charm is in the back. They even had a live performer playing the saxophone with cute decorations. I got the sirloin steak, fried risotto and lobster pasta. I think the fried risotto was definitely worth it and the pasta actually had a good amount of lobster chunks. The steak was very interesting with the sauce they used. However I think the sirloin cut or they might have slightly over cooked it. The meat was slightly rough but that's alright everything else made up for it. The service was very quick and food came out in under 15-20mins. Great vibes for dates or double dates but the rocks that they use is slightly annoying since the chairs and tables sometimes are uneven. I kicked more rocks underneath to make it a smooth surface so the table was stabilized. Parking is also limited to mainly street where you have to pay. I'd check it out!

Truly everything here was so tasty. The outside patio is so cute but the reason it got four stars is the fly issue outside. Even thought they try to give you small motor fans, we were always fighting off the flies. The bread at first is so soft and toasted. With butter it makes the best appetizer. I tried the moscato de azi and omg it was the best tasting moscato I had in a while. If you're looking for something that basically tastes like great juice get the whole bottle. I got the entree with lobster in it and it was really good. I like things a bit salted so if I had a sprinkle more it would be divine. It was very flavorful and not too tomatoey, the flavors balanced well. One more critique is that I usually see larger servings at most Italian places in comparison to what were served, especially at the price point. But without that truly I would still come back and keep trying the rest of the menu, I would just recommend placing a reservation inside if you don't want to deal with the flies. Service was fine. Since it was small they seemed busy, but we got served when we could, it just take a while to get your entire to you, which was worth the wait in terms of taste.

The overall environment is soothing, The staff is respectful, service is fast, the food was amazing and worth the price. This place is a hidden gem. Megan, Carlos, and Loscar were amazing. The chef cooked really delicious food. Everything was worth it. I'll be back.

Love 4th street and tried a lot on the street, Tarantella was one I had not so I made a resy and tried it for the first time fresh bread was served first with some butter and a couple drinks pretty good beer and wine selection. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and the specials they offered and explained them very well. We sat in the lil patio area which is neat lil pebble rock floor with tables and chairs and makes it feel more personable. Food was good I tried the Ragu and the chicken lemon dish with capers. I will be back to try some other dishes on the menu

We are new to the area and my good friend told me about this restaurant and it's in walking distance from my house. We were greeted by Megan and were seated in the patio area. It's really cute back there with the stringing lights and a live singer. We ordered the calamari to start. My daughter got the spaghetti carbonara and I got the Papa Tony. The good was amazing and the service is attentive! We definitely recommend

    2026 Valentine's Day's Fixed Menu

Absolutely mid-tier service and they do a great job at overcharging for small portions and average flavor. I read a review from last year's Valentine's Day having the same complaints as us this year (2026) although the restaurant did improve on giving customers 2 appetizers instead of 1 shared appetizer from last year's fixed menu. Additionally, our second course was given to us after our entree since they forgot about it. Then our dessert also came out later than expected when they forgot about it, but when we did receive it, it was frozen! When calculating the price, each course costs about $20 each which is INSANE. I will say, the servers were polite and apologetic, but it still doesn't take away from the bad experience we had on a supposed special day. I suggest an improvement on managing tables, having a better system on running the food out on time, and being more attentive to tables and asking them if they need anything would be a small change but a great improvement as we didn't experience any of this during our visit.

All these beautiful restaurants are blossoming all over Long Beach. Went here for dinner with my friends and loved the ambiance, the service was fantastic handful of times they kept asking how we were doing and if we needed anything, that's amazing right there. The food was also amazing, I had their Cesar salad with calamari! To end it, I had their tiramisu! Next time I'm going back for their bowl of cheese!

Lamb, meatballs and the pappardelle Nocina I believe. Everything was delicious.

I will say, the lasagna looks to be the dish to get. The person next to me ordered it and the dish was massive. Looked delicious! I got the pappardelle bolognese. Pappardelle is my favorite type of noodle, and they make a great pappardelle here! Perfectly toothy. The noodles themselves were 9/10. The bolognese didn't have the deepest flavor I've ever tried, but it was solid. I loved the beautiful plate that my pasta was served in. I would definitely come back here. Pastaphony bills itself as "Where pasta gets a personality."…read more Judging from the fiery heat that blasted outtve my plentiful order of Pasta Arrabbiata, I'd venture that my particular entree's personality was, indeed, zesty and irascible...to the point of inedible. On this particular weeknight, your favorite Yelp correspondent was pivoting in and out of Glendora's Food Hall like a metronome, ferrying a quartet of meals from the hall for my wee Uber gig. Pastaphony caught my attention within moments of nesting my customer's order into my insulated carrier- my SUV's cabin was redolent of cheese, tomatoes and overall hone-cooked goodness! I went with Pasta Arrabbiata, then customized my order by adding a breaded chicken breast, black olives, onions, roasted peppers and shaved parmesan. On the plus side, Pastaphony gives ample portions- My entree weighed almost as much as a two-item combo platter from your friendly neighborhood Chinese takeout place! And, while the dish took me to Flavortown...unfortunately it was the Mojave Desert, with its scorching flavor profile and intense, spicy taste. The star of the dish was the breaded chicken cutlet and the shaved parm, but since the penne pasta overwhelmed the chicken/parm by an eight to one ratio...this was a difficult dish to finish. Context- As the acknowledged "lightweight" in a family of folks who typically relish spicy food, I asked my wife to sample my dish. She was born in Michoacacan and regularly quaffs homegrown Serrano and Habanero peppers like they're ice. Even she was surprised by how utterly spicy my pasta dish was! My entree cost $26.39 after taxes, a wee steep for a single protein pasta dish. By comparison, you can spend $1 more at any Johnny Carinos or Olive Garden and get a three-item combo with bread and/or salad accompaniments. So I wasn't satisfied by the "value for money" question, either. This experienced reviewer probably ordered the WDD (Wrong Damn Dish) but at their prices (a side of garlic bread or breadsticks is $10.99!) one os hesitant to retake the plunge.

I wanted to surprise my wife by bringing her lunch at work, and since she has a student teacher helping her, I even thought it would be nice to grab an extra sandwich for them as well. When I walked in, the restaurant had just opened and it wasn't busy at all. I approached the counter and told the employee I wanted a Padua Special and a salami and cheese sandwich, but I was waiting for a quick text from my wife to confirm the third sandwich. This only took about a minute. After placing the order, I noticed on the menu that the salami and cheese sandwich normally comes with mayo, which my wife doesn't like. I politely asked if they could please leave the mayo off. At that point, the older woman making the sandwiches started visibly reacting--shaking her head, shrugging, and acting irritated. I let it go because I was just looking forward to getting the sandwiches and heading out. A couple of minutes later I got a call from my brother (who works with me), and since I was already there I asked if he wanted a meatball sub. He said yes, so I went back to the counter and politely asked if I could add one more sandwich to my order. That's when the situation became very uncomfortable. The older woman making the sandwiches began shaking her head, throwing bread around, and acting extremely frustrated. I asked if there was a problem, and she said she had already started the sandwiches. I explained that I wasn't asking to change anything--just to add another sandwich. I didn't understand why that would be an issue, especially since it was simply an additional purchase. Her attitude continued, and the interaction made me feel unwelcome and embarrassed. At that point I considered just walking out, but my wife was already expecting lunch from this place, so I stayed. When I went to pay, I asked the cashier who the older woman was, and I was surprised to learn that she is the owner. Honestly, I was floored. As a business owner myself, I can't imagine treating paying customers this way--especially when they're ordering multiple items and spending over $60. My wife and I have been coming here for years and always enjoyed it, but after this experience I don't think I'll be returning. No customer should feel like they are bothering a business simply for placing an order or asking for a small modification. If I could offer one suggestion: the owner should avoid direct customer interactions if they're going to react this way. Customer service matters, and today's experience completely changed how I feel about a place we used to enjoy.
