Really enjoyed checking out Bixby Provisions! The burger was packed with great flavor and came with perfectly cooked fries. The bar is also a big plus--they can mix up just about anything you're in the mood for, including a great Cosmo. They have some really good weekly promotions, and I love that they're creating a space for the community with regular events and gatherings. It's a fun, fresh new concept for the neighborhood with a great atmosphere, good food, and plenty of reasons to keep coming back. We went on a Thursday night, everything was okay. Stand-outs were the Brussel Sprouts and Chicken Sandwich. The French Dip and fries I had were served warm, not hot. Smash-burger was okay, but there are many stands that do better. Cauliflower could have been cooked longer. Nice beer selection and my Old-Fashioned was perfect. Service was mediocre, after food was served, no one checked on us. We split an extra glass of water that was on table. I really wanted to like this place, but it was just okay. read more

The service is fantastic, the bad is the menu is a bit lackluster bar fare now. Miss their pasta dishes from the prior iteration of this location. Ordered a couple apps and drinks and the taco trio was okay nothing to write home about. The chicken one was a little dry, the fish one was slightly over fried and the beef one was a tiny bland. Drinks were good, still a full bar and a nice selection of California beers in cans and on draft. Will try a burger next time. Got the tomatoes cucumber salad and it sounded good but the tomatoes were mealy and the cucumber was oddly beat up looked pre-chewed almost. I think they were removing all the seeds from the cucumbers for some reason? The dressing was different, I think a light drizzle of balsamic would have been better. Wood and Salt has been reimagined and relaunched as Bixby Provisions, billing itself as a neighborhood tavern under the same ownership but with an entirely new concept. The space seemed to have less seating than before, and the high ceilings contribute to a noise level that can border on loud. The food menu is more limited, leaning heavily into bar fare -- burgers, sandwiches, and salads make up the bulk of the offerings, with just a handful of proper entrées like a reasonably priced steak frites. Unfortunately, not much on the menu appealed to me, so I opted for the ahi tuna tostada as my main. The tuna was mild in flavor and a bit chunky in texture. The crispy Brussels sprouts were enjoyable but unremarkable. Others at the table ordered burgers, which they found perfectly acceptable -- just nothing to get excited about. Worth noting: fries are an extra $4 add-on with the burger or sandwich. The food also comes out on a tray which took me a bit surprised. Overall, the food felt fairly average and a noticeable step down from Wood and Salt. Service was similarly underwhelming but they tried hard. How can a business run out of iced tea early in the evening? As this is still a soft opening, Bixby Provisions has some work to do before its official grand opening -- but there's time to get it right. read more

My wife and I were sad to see wood and Salt go, but this new Bixby Provisions' menu and food was quite good. It's the same owner and quality as Wood and Salt, but new name and new menu. (Same owner as Rasselbock too). The fried asparagus appetizer was delicious, as were my chicken sandwich and my wife's cod sandwich. Cocktails and drinks were good too. They've got a good selection of craft beers, and my wife's spicy margarita was quite tasty. I'd like to come back and try a burger one day. The one demerit was that we did end up with a lot of deep fried dishes. Menu choices are all a bit on the heavier side. It would be good to offer other sides to round out the options, and maybe add something healthy on the menu like a grilled fish or grilled chicken dish. I think Bixby Provisions will do really well. I'm glad it's a new option in the neighborhood! read more

Stopped in yesterday for an afternoon meal and drinks and I'm so glad Bixby Provisions has joined our neighborhood community of restaurants. My husband and I have had the taco trio, loaded fries, smash burger and the chicken sandwich which were all so delicious. I'm already craving another chicken sandwich which has the perfect amount of spice and crunch! This place is meant to have a more tavern vibe, so come in expecting an inviting, relaxed and comforting space. The strawberry peach margarita and Paloma were so tasty and they also have a great selection of wine. The space isn't crowded and has a rustic looking bar in the back. We were in Long Beach for an afternoon and just happened to find Bixby Provisions on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I'm very glad we did! It's a really cool tavern with a cute bar and great food. We had the American Cheese Burger and the Pasta Bolognese. Both were fantastic! I particularly enjoyed the pasta, which was very fresh and flavorful. The service was excellent as well. My bestie and I came to try out the new place. Inside it looks a lot like Wood & Salt, I don't think they have changed too much. We both ordered the lemon and basil infused vodka drink which was tasty, however it appeared that when pouring the drinks most of the liquor went into my friend's, because I could barely taste alcohol and hers was very strong. We split the brussels sprouts, which came with a gooey cheese sauce, it was good and a large serving. I tried the Bixby burger, I really enjoyed it and the fries were crispy and hot. The food menu seems a bit limited and I hope this is because it's still their soft opening right now. Service was very good, our waitress was attentive and food came out in a timely manner. It wasn't too crowded and we were seated easily on Friday at 6. I'll definitely be back as it's a great dinner spot in Bixby Knolls and we really enjoyed the vibe there. read more

Unfortunately, this evening was quite a miss. The food was just OK, and for the price, I expected quite a bit more. I had the fish and chips. The breading had good flavor, but the fish itself was pretty bland and the bottom of each piece was pretty soggy. The fries were barely warm. My spouse had the steak and frites, and the steak was noticeably over-salted, with the same lukewarm fries. The service was probably the bigger issue. We were seated right away, but then waited about 15 minutes before anyone came by. It was a fairly mellow Friday night, so it didn't seem like the restaurant was overwhelmed. Our server was nice, but the overall service felt very minimal. What was frustrating was seeing the owner/manager sitting at the bar and walking around while the service was lacking. If the staff was short-handed, I would have expected management to jump in and help. We gave this place a shot after the transition from Wood & Salt, but unfortunately it feels like the prices have stayed high(ish) while the overall experience and food quality has gone downhill. There are plenty of better options around for the money. Not a terrible meal, just not one I'd go back for. read more

I kind of expected this to be a comfortable hang-out place to have a beer and good food, maybe on the line of The Factory of the old days in Bixby Knolls, or just in alignment with general vibe of the area. It didn't really meet that expectation, but I am also not really sure what it's supposed to be. The space feels very empty, loud music that felt maybe more like it would be better in a club or lounge. There's vintage manly signage (trucks and sports). The draft beer list was very tiny and it seemed like they are really geared more for cocktails. Smashburgers were only OK. I had the quinoa sweet potato bowl also and it was bland and wet. On the good side- the French fries were great! Also four stars for the Brussels sprouts. The server was very good and very nice. I am not really sure this is somewhere I would choose to come again. We have so many other options in the neighborhood. Maybe I'll come back for a cocktail and more of those Brussels sprouts. read more

I've been there a couple of times after the new iteration. The first was during the soft opening and it was not well organized. No person at the front to seat you. The service was spotty and the food was over salted. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese. It was edible but too much salt, it over took any other flavor. My dinner companion had the same issue. I did mention it to the server and was told it would be passed on to the "Chef". We came back with a couple of friends and none of the original issues had been addressed. On a side note, the owner came out and visited nearly every table on both occasions but walked by ours without even a glance. I will not go back. We tried this place tonight and everything was delicious! ​My partner and I shared the American Cheeseburger (highly recommend adding the shoestring fries for just $4) and a Chicken Caesar Salad. The salad was served in a generous bowl with plenty for two to share, and the breaded chicken was perfectly seasoned. ​Our server was extremely nice and offered some great suggestions, which elevated the whole experience. ​The space is still very inviting even after the rebrand. The restaurant was in shake out phase on my first visit. I ordered steak frites; the steak was cooked to my order. The "frites" were shavings from Yukon gold potatoes; it didn't work - the proper steak frites has thin fries. My second visit was a couple of days later, after their Grand Opening. Imagine my disappointment when I found they changed their menu and eliminated the dish I planned to order - short rib pie. If you want to be a neighborhood hang out, give folks reliable comfort food, particularly when you don't give dishes time to become popular. It was ok. We were regulars at Wood & Salt and I prefer the previous menu. The new menu is more basic: salads, burgers, sandwiches. I ordered the Caesar salad and French dip. Since the menu is new, I asked the server what were the top items, they said burger, French dip, chicken sandwich. The Caesar salad was $15 and it said it came with breaded chicken. The server asked if I wanted to add protein, I then asked if the description was correct because it lists that it has chicken already. They said that was incorrect and it does not come with chicken. They even went and verified with someone else. To be honest, in this case as a new restaurant trying to figure it out, you should've honored the chicken. I also got the French dip sandwich which was $19 and does not come with a side. You can add fries for $4. The French dip was mediocre, the Auju was room temperature nothing fancy and not worth $19. I did have to track down the server and ask for a new auju, which they were happy to bring free of charge. My seven-year-old daughter got the child's grilled cheese and fries, she ate the fries, but wasn't fond of the grilled cheese. My husband got the chicken sandwich and added fries, he seemed to like the chicken sandwich. My husband and I both ordered a beer, we were never asked if we needed a second drink and our waters were never filled. Wood & Salt used to provide a larger bottle of water on the table so you could refill your own small glasses, I recommend they implement that again. Overall, the servers were really nice, and it's still a really cute environment, they added TVs and had flags up for the World Cup. It's a prime location in Bixby and Atlantic, I think it's unfortunate that it seems more of an average place now. I hate to talk badly about a business that is trying to rebrand, but I don't see this doing better than wood & salt, we honestly will never go back. read more
