We got a kids smashed burger, braised beef poutine, and cheeseburger eggrolls. My daughter loved the kids Smashburger. Although it was over priced for a small kids burger. This is the closest I can get to authentic poutine from Canada! The texture of the fries are always perfect and the gravy is never overly salty. The cheese curds melt just fine and the portions are perfect for a mid-day snack. During the holidays, they have a "Leftover" Sandwich and Poutine that truly feel like a whole Thanksgiving feast packed into one sandwich/fries! The sandwich has turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, fried onions, arugula, turkey gravy, and garlic mayo on ciabatta bread. The "Leftover" Poutine is similar but has french fries, cheese curds, and parsley instead of the arugula and garlic mayo. A lot of ingredients in one, but they all work well together! They usually offer it during the last couple of months of the year. They also have a new French Onion Smash Burger which is amazing! My new favorite item here! It has two wagyu beef patties, provolone cheese, grilled onions, garlic mayo, and French onion spread on a parmesan crusted brioche bun. And the best part is, it's served with a side of au just for dipping! It's so yummy! All of their smash burgers are good, but I think this one is the best! In terms of sandwiches, I'm also a fan of their Chicken Parmesan Sandwich as well! Their poutines are always a classic and what put them on the map. This place is the underrated lunch gem of Long Beach. I think the Kroft gets lost in the noise of The Hangar, but it is genuinely so good. This is located inside The Hangar. The ambiance is somewhat noisy because its a food court, and there is music playing out of their sound systems. I ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich and a soda. The weight of the sandwich was a hefty one. There was so much cheese and sauce! The chicken was extreme crispy, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The sauce and cheese complimented the chicken! it was the best sandwich ive ever had. Service was nice at the ordering station and was kind enough to get me a cup for water. They ask for your name and you will pick up the food when its ready. Their craft soda is located in the back of their area and its Pepsi products. I decided on the Braised Beef Melt which is braised beef, jack cheese, pickled red onions, on a toasted ciabatta roll along with an order of fries. They make the sandwiches fresh upon your order. It took about a good 15 minutes to get my order. The beef melt didn't diappoint. The beef was flavorful & tender and loved the pickled red onion on the sandwich. The fries were crisp and tender but slightly overly salted for my taste. It was a very satisfying and filling lunch. I'd definitely come back and try the poutine on my next visit. it involves fries, I'm already interested... but this place took it to another level. I tried the braised beef poutine and didn't even know this kind of meal had a name before -- now I'm hooked. Fries loaded with tender braised beef, rich gravy (I always ask for extra), melty cheese curds, and pickled onions on top... man, it just works. The fries start out with this perfect crunch, and yeah, they soften up from the gravy -- but I eat it so fast they never stand a chance of getting soggy. I even got my wife hooked, and that says something. She doesn't do onions on anything, which is a bonus for me because I just have them put the pickled onions on the side and steal them all. My bf & I decided to eat here as he's never tried this place. And I've had a good experience from the other locations I ate at. The service was good. The lady helping us was nice & friendly. We both wanted something small. I ordered the kids Mac & cheese and he ordered the fried cheese curds. My Mac & cheese was very liquidy. All the cheese sauce was in the bottom so I had to keep mixing as I ate. Eventually if you let it sit & by the time I got to the bottom, the cheese stuck to the noodles & it was that creamy texture I was looking for. The white sauce inside really set it apart from other French onion burgers I've had. I was able to order on the toast app and i only had to wait a few minutes for it to be ready when I arrived. It was hot outside, so I decided to eat there in the air conditioned hangar. The fries were also very good! You could tell the meat was seared and flavored perfectly and the pepper jack cheese topped with the onions and mushrooms was a perfect combination. The Kroft is in the Hangar, the food court at Long Beach Exchange near Long Beach Airport. Their Porchetta Sandwich is what I'd highly recommend from here and it's probably the best food item at the Hangar. It features juicy pork, crispy pork cracklins, arugula, and a nice herby vinaigrette. It's a nice, well-balanced sandwich. If I get that and a side of fries, then this is typically a four-star experience for me. My problem for my last visit here was that I went with other things - their burger, their chili-cheese fries, and their roasted brussel sprouts and my experience with those items was solidly three stars or slightly less. My wife got the porchetta and fries with a side of garlic mayo. The porchetta was as good as it always is. The fries were not crispy, which was disappointing. I had chili-cheese fries with my order, but the chili was mostly ground beef and less "chili". The cheese sauce was reminiscent of what you'd get on nachos and it was settled more along the bottom. Because the chili and cheese were essentially broken, this $13 dish was not satisfying. As for the Kroft burger, I feel like I'm realizing that I don't prefer smashburgers to regular burgers unless they're outstanding. I ordered their double wagyu smash burger and the smashed patties were very thin and crispy. There is not much to the burger other than meat and bread. I felt like I missed the balance you get from the condiments and veggies of a regular burger. Like I said, this is normally a four-star spot for me at the Hangar if I stick to a porchetta and fries. I'd suggest for you to go with that combo; however, my most recent food experience was three star. Will probably come back for the porchetta in a future visit and update my rating. read more
