Breakfast before H&M fly out of LB airport. I saw this place on Yelp so I thought we'd give it a try. Typically it's a bar in the evenings but serves breakfast in the mornings. A cute little place off the beaten path. Adequate parking located in the lot behind the building with an easy walk around to the restaurant. We made reservations but it wasn't necessary. The place was kind of busy, but we were seated right away. It was a decent sized interior with seating for maybe 30-40 people(?). Our server was friendly and attentive. Food seemed to take a little longer to come out of the kitchen. The food looked good and was okay. Nothing exciting or spectacular on their breakfast menu. Portions were large and leftovers were taken home. Hubby was sad his hot chocolate was not full, was warm in temperature, and only got colder because of all the whipped cream on top. This restaurant is pancake Long Beach in the morning, and Cali Chicken Indian Kitchen for lunch and dinner. The only thing that changes is the menu. I enjoyed a large breakfast that included scrambled eggs, avocado, toast, sausage, and pancake pancakes. There's various options for this meal...I could've had potatoes as a side... my friend got the same thing but she opted for and blueberry pancakes. She also ordered a dish from the lunch menu and she loved it. I cannot think of the name, but it's stuffed with potatoes, seasoned with onions and spices. Everything was very tasty. This is a beautiful restaurant. Friendly staff and reasonably priced options. There's easily access accessible street parking. Stumbled upon this place by chance. Very nice vibe, great service. Came in for à la carte but they had a st paddies AYCE breakfast buffet special going on. They let us take a peak at the options and they looked great with good AYCE price. Server asked us if we wanted to order the eggs Benedict that was included in the AYCE (just needed to be ordered each time). It was amazing. read more

What a great find! We were meeting up with some friends and looking for a good breakfast spot near Long Beach. First off, these portions were huge. Everything was platted so nice and the flavors were great. So often I get scrambled eggs and they are wayyyy dry. These were perfect. I did the combo which came with my choice of plain/chocolate chip/blueberry pancakes. I went with blueberry. I also go the cheese egg toast. So not only did my plate come with eggs but it came with a delicious scrambled mix on toast. Yum! My wife had the fluffy omelet, our friends had the breakfast burrito, 2 eggs, and waffle. We always seem to miss this place when they are open but finally we're able to get here early enough. Not super busy when we came in, only one party at a table. Waitress gave us our menus and container of water. I tried the Indian Sloppy Joe and it's SO GOOD. I'm a huge fan of lamb so it was a real treat. The fries were super crispy as well. My husband got the Biscuits and Grazy with Hashbrowns. He finished his plate so two thumbs up. Came here for breakfast on Father's Day because the wait at village cafe was too long. The coffee, at $5 a cup, was watered down and served with good ole chemical-filled coffee mate creamer. There were 1 or 2 other tables occupied and it took about 40-45 minutes to get our food after we ordered. Server wasn't particularly friendly or welcoming, never came to update us or offer refills. By the time we got our food, my potatoes looked like they should have been crispy but were soft and cold as if they sat for some time. The menu has several beverage choices from juices to coffee to libations. The food menu was the perfect amount of options. Not overwhelming, yet nice variety. One of my breakfast go-to's is Avocado Toast. This was pretty freakin fantastic! Portion may look on the smaller size, but it's deceiving. The orange marmalade provided a unique twist...a slight sweetness among a rather savory dish. Perfectly soft bread piled with plenty of avocado. Add brunch cocktails, coffees, smoothies, fresh juices, and breakfast specials, and suddenly decision-making becomes impossible. So naturally, our table of three chose chaos and ordered a lot. Every single dish was delicious and looked exactly like the menu photos (whoever staged those pictures deserves a raise). The sausage and gravy? Elite. That breakfast burger? I would eat it for dinner, a late-night snack, or as a personality trait. And the hollandaise on the Benedict -- so good I briefly considered asking for a side cup and drinking it like soup. 2/5 stars I took my son here yesterday hoping for something special, just the two of us for a solid breakfast out. Unfortunately, it did not deliver. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, and the space has a nightclub feel that made the whole breakfast experience a little off. Our waitress was the only one working the floor with no other tables to tend to, yet the service still felt rushed and uncomfortable. When I asked for a few more minutes to look over the menu, it clearly did not go over well. She disappeared and we had to flag her down just to place our order. When I ordered the breakfast burrito, I specifically asked for bacon only, no sausage. The food presentation looked great when it arrived, but that's where the positives end. The burrito was way too greasy and had maybe half a strip of bacon in the entire thing. The black beans were a nice touch, but overall it fell completely flat. My son ordered eggs and toast, and his plate was equally greasy. He kept saying he wished he had ordered something else, and he left half his food behind, which never happens. The waitress did refill my coffee, though I was nearly finished by the time she came around. We both left disappointed, and neither of us finished our meals. $65 for breakfast for two, with food we couldn't finish and a vibe that felt off the whole time, is not money well spent. A friend told me about this place on Viking Way (off Bellflower and Carson). It has been open as a restaurant and bar for about 3 years, under the name Cali Chili. A year ago, they decided to open for breakfast, under the name "Pancake". Looking for a breakfast spot this morning, I decided to check it out! The restaurant looks small from the outside, but it is actually surprisingly large. In addition to the inside seating, there are outdoor tables available. The decor is quite nice and elegantly designed. (See photos) It was not very busy on this Friday morning. The menu has a nice selection of interesting items, including pancakes and French toast. My companion and I chose the Smoked Salmon Benedict, which was beautifully crafted, with a bacon wrapped asparagus accompaniment. Coffee was a good, tasty brew Price point is very reasonable. $$ This is a very nice place, with quality food. I think they need to get the word out! Three comments- Dark tint on the front windows makes it look closed from the outside. Provide real half 'n half for coffee. This is a classy place, no "creamer". For breakfast they offer very bright selections of items such as Benedict's, avocado toasts, omelette's, biscuits and gravy, and my choice of the cheesy egg toast, plus many more. Everything is very fresh and well prepared. As simple as it sounds, the cheesy egg toast was a fluffy scrambled egg with cheese, red onions, diced tomatoes on a well toasted baguette. My wife and I shared an order of the cheese blintz with strawberries and bananas accompanied with a well made blueberry compote. It seems that freshness is a focus in all the ingredients they use here. For lunch and dinner, the place is Cali Chili and they offer a variety of fusion cuisine from beef ribs with curry, Korean inspired ribs and many, many more options. Discovering the flavors they offer for lunch and dinner, it has left a curios longing to try the exquisite flavors they offer. Molly, our server was great. The restaurant was caught by surprise on how busy they were on this Valentines morning for breakfast, that it had Molly bouncing from table to table, but she handled it perfectly. Finally made it to Pancake! The breakfast service at Cali Chilli and have been waiting for a chance to get up there for breakfast. Everything was scrumptious. Their take on biscuits and creamy gravy, plus a side, was rich without being heavy. Soft biscuit was a hit! The chicken was equally yummy in syrup and in the biscuit gravy. The waffle tasted like I imagined a true Belgian should. The Blintz, I love how fat these are. I was tempted to get the savory ones but opted for banana and strawberry instead. It was the beginning of the Father's Day weekend and hubby had the morning off, so we searched Yelp for the nearest breakfast spots. We chose to try Pancake, and so glad we did! M We entered the business and realized it was also a bar. A gorgeous little bar/restaurant. We were greeted immediately and seated. Water was served in a gorgeous little leader and menus were given. Hubby order coffee and I ordered one of the mock tails suggested by our very nice waitress. The way the menu is set up. It seems that everything is à la carte, but to our surprise, the items we set our hearts on came with additions. We thought we would go ahead with what we wanted to order and take the extras home for lunch. The food was super delicious, the hospitality was grand, and the establishment is adorable. They tasted healthy and idk if that's what I'm looking for in my pancakes lol The bacon on the other hand was crispy and delicious. But had to pay an extra $5 for them so if you're the type that wants eggs and bacon with their pancakes and don't want to pay extra, this place isn't for you. Pancake, which is Cali Chili after 11am, has really solid breakfast fare. Their pancakes were what I was looking for and I was able to enjoy a laid-back breakfast in an empty dining room at 8am on a Monday morning. For $12, I thought it was a fair deal. If you see my picture - the pancakes were beautifully presented and I killed that dish. I wasn't looking for attentive service, but the server was friendly and helpful! We wanted a new place for breakfast with some good food. After reading the reviews, decided to stop by. Beware: it is located in Cali Chilli so you may miss it. There is a small flag that you can miss. Upon walking in, I was mesmerized by the cute decor. Our waitress was amazing and very talkative with us. She was attentive to us and made sure to give us refills. I ordered the Cinnamon French Toast and it was delicious and was a great portion. It was topped with powdered sugar, whipped cream, and mixed berries. The toppings weren't over the top either so not too sweet or overpowering. Our other plate was the Salmon Benedict and it was delicious and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Overall, a great spot for breakfast plus the experience is great. Tried this restaurant for the first time and so many things went wrong...from walking in and being sat but not given any menus (my son finally got up and searched and found some), to watching the sole server walk around doing basically nothing, although she was very sweet and kept apologizing and at one point mentioned how busy they were????? I will point out there were only 2 tables occupied when we arrived right before 10am, and they knew we were coming because we had a reservation. The sole server finally came over and took our drink order- 2 coffees, an orange juice and a michalada with modelo beer for my son. We did receive our coffee soon after but was told they were out of modelo. The server didn't know what other beers they had so my husband stood up and looked at the bar to see what draft beer they had on tap - no Mexican beer. We asked what beer they usually served their michalada with but she didn't know...came back to say it was an Indian beer and my son said he would try it. Since everything was taking so long, We figured we had better take advantage of her being at the table and ordered our breakfast. We then watched her cut oranges at the bar for the next 15 minutes. Other customers started coming in- a party of five and a party of 2. Another server did show up and helped the party of 5. The previous customers who had been there when we first walked in were now gone. My husband got his fresh squeezed orange juice and it was very good. But to take that long to squeeze the oranges ( and not have anything prepped beforehand?) We noticed our server finally started making the michalada. Miraculously she had found a modelo beer? It was painful to watch her slowly squeeze a lime into the beer, & then another, then wander off and come back with a bottle of Tabasco sauce. The second server was now cutting up oranges and at one point our server went to help her, in the middle of making the michalada? My son walked over and asked about his drink and she said she was making it. She finally brought it to him- but it had no tomatoe juice in it at all? He got up and took it back to her and said, this isn't a Michalada, just cancel it please. We continued to wait for our food. We noticed the party of two that had come in at least 30 minutes after us had gotten their food. A lone man had walked in and sat at the bar & placed a to go order. At 10:50 my husband asked our server how much longer the food was going to take & she apologized and said 10 more minutes. We watched as they brought out the to go bags for the gentleman at the bar. ( Side note- he wasn't happy either- he said he waited 30 min for his to go order of 3 breakfast burritos but there were only 2 in the bag, so now he would have to wait for the third one to be made while the others got cold) 11:05 my husband walked back to the kitchen and told the cook and the manager the wait time for our food was ridiculous ( it took forever to place our order, then we wait over 45 min, our food is still not done, yet they managed to serve food to both a party and a to go order that came in well after our order was taken. And there was only one other table of customers who also came in after us, in the entire restaurant). We asked for the bill for the 2 coffees and orange juice - at least they did tell us we didn't need to pay. So we have no idea what their food actually taste like. But I have to say I have never seen such a disorganized and dysfunctional restaurant. Our server was oblivious, and clueless as to anything she was doing or info about the restaurant. My husband noticed that both the 2 tables of customers who had just finished shortly after we arrived, had to go to the server about their bill being wrong. We noticed a man, who was possibly the manager, walk around the bar area several times yet paid no attention to what was actually happening in the restaurant. He Offered no assistance or help as the chaos unfolded around him ( oblivious or just didn't care?). The level of incompetence and inattentiveness was almost comical if we hadn't been so frustrated. Unfortunately this was one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. read more

Of course I had to try and the gravy was deliciously silky with tender pieces of sausage crumbles. My salmon toast was excellent and very savory as well. Mouth is totally watering as I write this review! We will definitely be back so my wife can try the blueberry pancakes!
