Buttermilk Pancake Combo side of french toast
    Greg H.

We went for brunch on a Sunday and got there a little before noon. There were a couple of groups on the waiting list before us, but since there were only two of us, we did not have to wait long. Upon being seated we were greeted by our server, Trish. She was very nice. We started with the weekend champagne, which is a bottle of champagne and your choice of juice, so we could make our own mimosas. My friend also ordered a lavender honey oat latte, which she thoroughly enjoyed. For our food my friend had the mom's meatloaf, and I had the buttermilk pancake combo, which included eggs and bacon, and I also ordered a side of French toast. The food was great and we ate every last morsel! There was a great vibe/atmosphere in the restaurant which added to the overall experience. We will definitely go here again!

Wonderful spot for brunch in Long Beach. We went to visit my daughter by CSULB and came here for brunch. Wait was not too long but we did go around 1:00 pm. We were seated with in 15 minutes. The food is really good. Excellent. Fresh food with unique flavors. We had chicken and waffles. My husband said is was great as waffle and chicken were crunchy topped with jalapeños which was a nice treat for him. The brioche French toast was great served with eggs, bacon and two large slices with berries. The Brekkie Sammie and Papa Joe was good too.

Wonderful experience at the Breakfast Bar today and I was impressed. Everything was delicious. To start, I had their mocha latte to start, which was solid. My friend and I split the biscuits and gravy, and I got the egg casserole. Two thumbs up! The gravy was just perfect. Service is fantastic. Will definitely be back soon.

Food is good. Worth the wait for sure. Parking isn't too bad considering it's Long Beach It's worth the price Anything you get can't go wrong

The food here is good!! They have gluten free options for anyone with allergies! The service was very good, helpful and friendly! They came in to check on us and answered many of our questions regarding the food. The ambiance is very casual with a lot of locals coming in.

Omfg this place is really good. John/Johnny is probably the best server of any restaurant I've ever been too. Too funny and just damn good service. This papa Joe sandwich was really really good. I want to go back right now and get another one. It's definitely a vibe here. Very cozy inside. I look forward to going back and trying more. I just can't get over how cheesey my sandwich was. good prices and good food. They even have restrooms . Thank you for the great experience.

First time at this restaurant with a friend who loves it. Food was great, but service by Johnny at the bar seats was amazing! Great time and will definitely return. Thanks Johnny!

The Breakfast Bar on 4th and Redondo seems to be a staple in the area. We came after leaving a graduation and it was flowing with patrons. Didn't have reservations but were seated under 10 mins. Staff were friendly and patient when it came to putting in our orders and customizations: + Lemon Cakes combo - lemon pancakes - crispy around the edges - soft and fluffy in the middle - mixed berries - creamy drizzle (too sweet) - side of syrup - sub'd for additional sausage instead of eggs + Breakie Sammie To-go order: + Blackened Chicken Sandwich with fruit Food was good. I'd like to return to try other menu items.

Sunday morning at around 10:30 and quite crowded but seated immediately. Nearly every offering at this establishment was spot-on. I ordered chicken wings and Belgian waffles (the hot sauce provided was better than any in recent memory), while my friend ordered French toast with berries, sausage, and a side of grits (the grits had these poblano (?) pepper specks that took them to the next level). My cucumber lemonade cocktail was a little light on the alcohol, but the pluses outweighed the minuses. Somewhat pricey for breakfast at around $70 for two, but worth it for the tastiness of the food. One suggestion: white gravy came with my chicken and waffles order, but it was a big nothingburger. Develop some savory chicken gravy for that dish and it will be perfect!

Great place to enjoy breakfast/brunch with family and friends! This place gets super busy, though it does take walk ins if you get there early enough on the weekend to secure a table. The service is really friendly, the indoor seating is abundant but I will say it can get really loud in there. There are SO many breakfast/lunch options to choose from on the extensive menu and it's hard to go wrong. The breakfast burrito is really tasty and has both a meat and a soy chorizo option. There are definitely ample options for vegans / vegetarians as well as meat eaters - so it's a great place to please a mixed crowd! Will absolutely come back to enjoy another brunch here. Plenty of drinks as well - beer, cocktails, etc..

Its been a while and when I say a while I mean years. Today I checked yelp 1st and people said the food quality and service had declined. #NOTMYEXPERIENCE!!! Everything was wonderful. Tater tots were extra crispy, bacon was mouthwatering and my over medium eggs perfectly cook. My only recommendation is to not charge for 2 juices for a whole bottle of champagne for two people.

My family and I came here for breakfast and we were very impressed with the hospitality!! Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu! He gave us great recommendations! I got the shrimp and grits, my niece got the buckwheat pancakes with eggs & sausages, her husband got the omelette casserole. Everything was so delectable! We were so happy with the recommendations! Oh and I got the lemon pancake! It is to die for!! Like our waiter said it's like a lemon pound cake and a pancake got together and made a baby!! It's amazing! lol I am totally in love with the restaurant's design and aesthetic, so chic! I'm in love with the chandeliers! I totally recommend this place!

Definitely worth it! The vibes are unmatched. It's a unique blend of "top notch cocktail crafting" and "beer and a hot pretzel after work." You can dress up, you can dress down, it's very 'just be yourself' which I love. I've literally had caviar AND hot dogs there in the same night at an event. They know how to blend high/low. Incredible knowledge and ingredients but not snooty patootie. Super inclusive and fun, with cool popups and events happening all the time. It's a full bar so you can get any cocktail you would normally order if you're keeping it simple, or beer, wine, boilermakers, etc. There's a span of offerings and price points, so something for everyone. (Also really good N/A cocktails!) The menu is super inventive and creative! And the cocktail menu changes out every so often so there are new things to try. This area is vintage vibes and Baby Gee speaks it fluently. Really cool decor, curated by the owners who design everything from the playlist to the cocktails to the invention of never-before-seen flavors and shapes of jello shots. Try the Baby Gee appletini while you're there. Mezcal, tequila, sake appletini you ask?? Yes. Trust. And get a hot dog. Do it.

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

This hidden gem lives inside the newly renovated Fairmont Breakers in Long Beach, and for all my Fairmont regulars: relax, you're in good hands, their world-renowned elegance remains intact. PARKING Valet is only $10, which in Southern California basically qualifies as a love language. (Note to Fairmont Breakers Management: Listen up, my friends! Please keep it that way, gas is $5.97/gallon and my wallet is already in therapy.) I handed the valet a $5 tip before I even stepped out of my car, just so I could glide into the lobby feeling like a full‑blown princess making her grand entrance. Before you leave, you simply pay the valet in cash or card and they'll have your car right there before you can even blink. AMBIANCE Walk in and boom! A towering, beautifully decorated Christmas tree greets you like it's auditioning for a holiday movie. Check out my photos; the whole lobby whispers one word: sophisticated. Oooh, I love that tree! Rob Fontana was performing tonight, and his music was so good I found myself time‑traveling back to the good old days. Every song hit, Rob. Good job! SERVICE Our server, Nia, was a star. Attentive, sharp memory, and smooth service all the way through. Zero notes. FOOD The menu is small, so if you show up ravenous, pace yourself or plan to Uber home after a cocktail‑heavy evening. I'm allergic to cheese, so I had to double‑check ingredients, but the Mushroom Flatbread was outstanding, flavor was superb and the best part was they did not skimp on the mushrooms! A+ for that. I also tried the Prosciutto di Parma with melon, which is a strange combo for a California girl... but hey, I never said I wasn't a weirdo. Drinks are not my thing since I enjoy company without alcohol's help, so I can't help you with that. DATE‑WORTHY OR NOT? Absolutely. Alter Ego gets a double thumbs‑up from me and a strong recommendation for your next Silver Singles date. Plus, Tommy's Burgers and an Arco are right nearby, so everything you might need is within reach. I tried both the cucumber mixed drink and the mango mixed drink, both were really good, but I personally preferred the cucumber one.
