They now accept credit card, so no need to run to the ATM to enjoy their delicious breakfast offerings. We had their Huevos Rancheros (again) and Sal's Enchilada Eggs, and they were both delicious. The Sal's Enchilada Eggs with chorizo was a great recommendation from staff. They definitely do not skimp out on putting more than enough sauce on their food, which I appreciate. you can never have too much! They don't have a private parking lot so finding a space, especially on the weekends can be challenging but worth the search. I love Frence Toast, not with Challah, Brioche or another bread type. I like good old white or wheat Wonder Bread or something similar. You have a choice of 1, 2 or 3 slices cut in half. The sausage links were cooked great, but 4 links were too much. I would prefer 2 in the future. Service and price were also great. A no-frills diner that my husband has frequented throughout his life. They have a really friendly staff that's constantly checking up on you at the bar, and it makes you feel right at home. I've eaten here twice now and the food doesn't disappoint. It's classic diner breakfast food with some Mexican options. I've been coming here for over 15 years, and I'll come back for 15 more. This place has been very consistent over the years and they never fail to make sure their customers leave with a smile and a full belly. The food here has been consistently delicious, offering the best breakfast items and a great variety. The service here has always been great, too! The ambiance is what makes it unique - it still very much gives the mom and pop diner kind of vibe, that's how you know the food will be amazing. They even have the same tables from when I first started coming here 15 years ago. They're consistent in many ways! My only gripe here is the parking. Expect to park in the neighborhoods and go for a stroll. On my last visit I had to park about two blocks away and walked over - luckily it's a short walk but it's totally worth it. This is one of the best neighborhood cafes I've ever been to. I love breakfast and one of my friends put me on to this spot. There's no parking on site but neighborhood parking isn't too difficult. The host is super nice and accommodating. The times I've visited there's never been a wait but by the time we leave there are people waiting. It feels like a genuine diner, there's a great mix of people there. The server we had the first time (young woman, brown hair and eyes) was awesome. Great personality! Second server was ok. Our plans took a turn and I knew this was a place to potentially pass by. We had this marked to make a stop at and Sunday was it. It's quite a big place but you walk in and it's a nice diner. I'm thinking the owner sat us down herself. They have a long bar to sit at, and the help was on is right away. I'd been looking for a new chicken fried steak plate to match the one I had to leave town for and thanks to David, I found it. I couldn't find much wrong with the plate. It was perfectly crispy, and in my opinion, the gravy was really good. The potato's were well seasoned and crunchy so I was more than satisfied with the overall dish. My girlfriend enjoyed her pancakes, eggs and sausage and agreed with some of my dish. The highlight that came a little late was the biscuit. I asked for a hit of whipped butter and they brought me some to slap all over my biscuit. Talk about the perfect ending to breakfast. I also love that they have pebble ice in their water. Thus might be my new favorite breakfast place. I've been here twice, once on Sunday around 1pm and a Monday around 11 am and both times there was no wait. The place is not fancy, like all these other cutesy brunch places, but it's clean and inviting. And I've noticed these cutesy places hardly have food that is really worth the price/wait. The servers are very friendly and are quick to refill your coffee and water. I ordered the David Scramble because it seemed like the breakfast option with the most protein. It was really good, and even better when I ordered my breakfast potatoes extra crispy this time. I think my favorite thing about this place is that they have fresh salsa. As a chicana I gotta have my fresh salsa. I don't like tapatío or Tabasco on my hot foods. ‍ The green salsa was my favorite. I think the only thing that could make this place better would be if they had more omelettes or scramble options with at least 2 meats. Like the veggie scramble looked delicious, but at $3.50 for adding bacon or (I forgot what the other option was) you'd be looking at $7 for that extra protein. Great option for diner type hardy breakfast food! Came over the weekend for breakfast and was seated fairly quickly. I will say that the area we sat in was all the way in the back and didn't make the full dining experience the best, especially right next to the bathroom. Other than that the service was great! The food was also really good! I ordered the veggie chorizo omelette and it was great! Potatoes it comes with were really good too. I tasted the pancake and that was good too. Tables, counter, and booth seating. Our party of 3 was present, we were seated right away. All the breakfast items we had were tasty. Don't sleep on the blueberry pancakes- good texture, moist, you could really taste the blueberries, i feel like I tasted a small hint of cinnamon. Corn beef hash is the way we like it (see pic), breakfast potatoes were good seasoned, with slight crisp texture, my egg whites fluffy, Spanish enchilada sauce is tasty , breakfast hamburger patty good! Coffee Cup is the place to be! On a Tuesday because there's no wait. They offer all the brunch things: omelettes, scrambles, south of the border collabs - you think it, they have it. The omelette selection is quite imaginative and offers a little more than your standard Denver type omelette. I was drawn to The Boss' Favorite ($13.95) because it has turkey bacon, muenster cheese, tomatoes, red onions, and topped with avocado. While I like all of these items individually - mixing them altogether in an omelette didn't quite do it for me. After this omelette experience, I've come to the conclusion that I prefer unadulterated forms of muenster cheese (sliced) and red onion (raw). A slight miss however the eggs were fluffy and the avocado was creamy. This won't deter me from trying more of their original creations. My friend, on the other hand, very much enjoyed his scramble. He got a side of tortillas and proceeded to fashion the scramble into breakfast tacos. I'd suggest you do the same if you're into that type of breakfast vessel. I also loved the table salsas. They paired perfectly with my omelette + the breakfast tacos. I'll be back. After all, Coffee Cup Cafe is Long Beach brunch royalty. read more

My personal favorite breakfast place in Long Beach Part of me didn't think they needed my yelp review since they do so well and there's a line outside on weekends lot of the time. The photo is a veggie scramble, which was delicious if you want to avoid some meat. Speaking of meat, I love her corn, beef, hash, and eggs, Old-school diner style corned beef hash. I enjoy their black coffee, they use "Boyds" if you're familiar with Boyds, it's pretty good . They serve lunch as well, but I don't think I've ever ordered lunch because I love breakfast and they do breakfast so well. Also, they have three different salsas to choose from that they make in the house which our absolutely delicious. This place a such a gem in Long Beach and arguably the best breakfast in the city! My wife and I have been coming here since we first started dating 12 years ago, and the food is still just as good! We always get the Baja burrito with steak, and it always hits the spot. I enjoy a cup or two of coffee as well, their freshly ground and brewed coffee is always smooth and never burnt. Everyone is always friendly and the service is fast and attentive. The cafe always gives off mom and pop vibes and is well maintained. There was a scheduled neighborhood power outage at my home so I decided to come here for breakfast and write in my journal/organize my calendar in my weekly planner. The first time I came to this restaurant, I was sorely disappointed that they were a cash only business (I have hardly carried any cash post-pandemic) so I turned around and went to another business. They do have a sign stating they have an ATM machine for those who don't have cash. This time around, I came with cash and excited to try some place new. Upon arrival (Friday morning), I was greeted by such friendly staff. I had my choice to sit anywhere in the restaurant so I opted for a booth in the corner. I had a healthy sandwich with sprouts, avocado, shredded cheddar cheese, bacon, tomato, and cucumber on wheat. I opted for a side salad instead of fries. Everything came within minutes after ordering. The diner was busy but it didn't bother me as I spent time in my journal writing my morning pages. I really enjoyed this place and look forward to coming back. I enjoyed the art display on the walls. Parking wasn't a challenge for me but it wasn't easy.
