When you want an old school breakfast experience, go to the Coffee Cup Cafe located on 4th St in Long Beach. They don't have a private parking lot so finding a space, especially on the weekends can be challenging but worth the search. I love Frence Toast, not with Challah, Brioche or another bread type. I like good old white or wheat Wonder Bread or something similar. You have a choice of 1, 2 or 3 slices cut in half. The sausage links were cooked great, but 4 links were too much. I would prefer 2 in the future. Service and price were also great. The Coffee Cup Cafe has been around a long time and if you like standard breakfast and lunch fare, you'll love the Coffee Cup.

Had the French toast combo and the chicken fried steak for breakfast with the gf. The chicken fried steak was really good. I'm shocked I don't come here more often but was reminded today that this is one of the better breakfast spots in Long Beach

A no-frills diner that my husband has frequented throughout his life. They have a really friendly staff that's constantly checking up on you at the bar, and it makes you feel right at home. I've eaten here twice now and the food doesn't disappoint. It's classic diner breakfast food with some Mexican options. The portions are hefty and definitely shareable and the coffee I has unlimited refills. I had the LB favorite omelette this time and they did not skimp on any of the ingredients inside. I loved it and I will always be down to eat here!

Saturday brunch was delicious! First time visiting & I really enjoyed this cafe. Started off with spectacular service from David (the "bus boy"). He was a true pleasure. Extremely attentive, warm personality. We honestly thought that he was our server. We saw him more than...never mind. I'd visit again for him alone. This casual diner was packed and you could tell that the majority of customers are regulars. Breakfast burrito filed with garlic chicken sausage was so good. Massive in size and easily could've fed two people. Pancakes are great French toast is great. Ironically I didn't find my cup of coffee to be that great, but I will definitely visit again for the food.

Their food is consistent and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. My girlfriend loves their flavored coffee. Just good homemade food

I've been coming here for over 15 years, and I'll come back for 15 more. This place has been very consistent over the years and they never fail to make sure their customers leave with a smile and a full belly. The food here has been consistently delicious, offering the best breakfast items and a great variety. The service here has always been great, too! The ambiance is what makes it unique - it still very much gives the mom and pop diner kind of vibe, that's how you know the food will be amazing. They even have the same tables from when I first started coming here 15 years ago. They're consistent in many ways! My only gripe here is the parking. Expect to park in the neighborhoods and go for a stroll. On my last visit I had to park about two blocks away and walked over - luckily it's a short walk but it's totally worth it. Overall, I highly recommend this cafe and will keep coming back!

Love this place. Although, my last visit was probably the worst service I've ever experienced and they weren't even that busy. I never sat at the counter before so unsure if it was due to that. I was never asked if I wanted a refill on my water. I kept having to ask, which has never been an issue before. My sausage was never brought out. Lastly, I was charged for coffee when I didn't order any. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. Everything on the menu is great. I love their Sunrise Fiesta Bowl 10/10. If you love black beans and eggs I highly recommend this dish. Add some salsa and this meal is complete. This breakfast/lunch spot is typically busy. The service is fast and efficient. They are great at coffee refills and checking in on you. Plenty of seating. No outdoor seating.

Great coffee shop with an extensive menu with such a great variety of food! Quick and friendly service- super attentive and helpful. Comfortable atmosphere with a good amount of seating for a weekday morning. It's my understanding there can be a wait on the weekends! Parking is street parking so it's a crap shoot but worth it!

The food is really good. Miss the Louisiana /cajun influence but the food is still great . The servers are rude most of the time , but the bussers /ones who bring you drinks are super kind . Waiting 45 minutes for our food , for a party of 4, just kind of turns me off from coming here. My kids really like the food tho and I enjoy the scramble . We always debate whether to eat here bc we don't want to give service to bad customer service but we also do like the food .

The service is so amazing! It's a bit of a drive for me but always worth it, food is like home made meal like my mom made me breakfast. And always love their flavored Coffee.

So with a name like The Coffee Cup Cafe I was excited to see what the coffee was like. Happy to say they delivered. The coffee is excellent. Some of the food selections were good and other items not so much. Bacon, over cooked, sausages lacked flavor. Potatoes were bland. Chocolate chip pancakes were good & stuffed cream cheese French toast were good, not great. Overall a bit disappointing.

A family member wanted to try this new place "The Coffee Cup Cafe"! We came on a Saturday morning around 8:30am. We were nicely greeted and was seated immediately. Place started to pick up with customers. Good dining area and spacious. Parking was street and was available. I've ordered the Veggie scramble eggs with tomatoes and was very tasty! As a healthy person, I enjoyed the meal. The server was helpful and professional. Out party ordered, French toast with scrambled eggs, veggie quesadillas. The children menu had several to select from. Place is clean. Overall we were full and happy to trying this place. We will return.

Our plans took a turn and I knew this was a place to potentially pass by. We had this marked to make a stop at and Sunday was it. It's quite a big place but you walk in and it's a nice diner. I'm thinking the owner sat us down herself. They have a long bar to sit at, and the help was on is right away. I'd been looking for a new chicken fried steak plate to match the one I had to leave town for and thanks to David, I found it. I couldn't find much wrong with the plate. It was perfectly crispy, and in my opinion, the gravy was really good. The potato's were well seasoned and crunchy so I was more than satisfied with the overall dish. My girlfriend enjoyed her pancakes, eggs and sausage and agreed with some of my dish. The highlight that came a little late was the biscuit. I asked for a hit of whipped butter and they brought me some to slap all over my biscuit. Talk about the perfect ending to breakfast. I also love that they have pebble ice in their water. This place is definitely in my breakfast lineup!

This is hilarious and place wonder why they are gong out of business. Really a breakfast burrito without tax or tip $21

Tons of board games, books and wonderfully mellow music helps make the experience feel comforting and inviting. Our drinks were prepared quickly and shouted at the coffee bar for pickup. The presentation was great, but the flavors, out of this world! The Cinnamon Dulce Latte was OUTSTANDING. So good, in fact, that my girlfriend stole it from me! The vibe has shifted toward a more minimalist coffee cafe aesthetic, and the menu has seen a significant overhaul. The Food & Value: I was disappointed to see the old favorites go. The Chicken & Waffles, previously a staple with three wings, has switched to dark meat only (thighs) with zero substitutions. As someone who isn't a fan of dark meat, that was a major letdown. I opted for the Lemon Pancakes ($21), and while the presentation was stunning, the taste was underwhelming and the portion size was surprisingly small--my son's kids' meal actually had more food than mine. The Silver Lining: The service is still the highlight here. Our server, Jorge, was absolutely fantastic--attentive, kind, and professional. The entire staff was very nice, but unfortunately, the price point doesn't quite match the current portion sizes or flavor profile. Bristy, our server, thoroughly explained the details of certain dishes such as the Mac & Cheetos. She also checked in on our table throughout the meal and came around often to refill our water. As for the food itself, it was very delicious. My favorite dish was the artichokes. They had a somewhat smoky flavor and the outermost leaves were crunchy and a nice contrast to the soft inside of the artichokes. They were also served in a tangy sauce that complimented the vegetable well. My friend's favorite item was the macaroni and cheese. It was chewy and creamy, and the pasta, which Bristy informed us was made in-house, was what my friend thought elevated the dish because it was a nice texture. We additionally ordered the gumbo which was also tasty but not as yummy as the other two dishes that we ordered. It is not a spicy dish if one is concerned about spice level. As for the ambiance of the restaurant, we enjoyed how the atmosphere felt casual and almost like you were sitting in somebody's house (the wallpaper and interior design is pretty) while still maintaining an elegant aesthetic design. There is inside seating what looks like a converted house? There is outside seating at tables or at the bar. The menu was interesting which had a theme of shrimp; there was eggs Benedict with shrimp, but not an item to order a regular one without it? Sure maybe could have ordered and asked without shrimp but pay the same price? Pass. Ok when I called they mentioned they serve brunch until 3? 3:30 I can't remember. The server mentioned they serve the brunch all day? Either way when I got to ordering this month on the menu it highlighted the shrimp po boy. I tried to order and nope, out. How can you be out of the item highlighted as the special in the middle of the day? When the place is not packed? I tried to order the lobster roll and again, out. I was tempted to order their short rib poutine since in theory it sounded good, but at this point I tried something simple I would hope they have in the kitchen chicken and waffles. The plate came and it looks good. If you look at the picture at the bottom of the chicken you can see a dark something. As I lift my chicken I found a huge burnt piece of breading pictured next. On top of the chicken is green onion I think? Who eats that with chicken and waffles? If I am wrong, a garnish is totally unnecessary for this dish. The chicken was moist. There are spices in the flour breading I can see but hard to taste what it is. The waffle is a hard pass for me. The waffle was crispy which is good, but also thin and dry and I couldn't taste any sweetness until I put maple syrup on it. The syrup came out warm which was nice. It's clear watching the people at the bar this is a local hangout. The chicken and waffles were $19 which if I was in the bay I think it's about right, but I think a little high considering the level of food I got. Supposedly this place is packed specifically on Sundays. The server doesn't know why? I'm not interested to even try to come back for a second chance and just be told sold out of the menu.
