I love this coffee shop because it is so reliable and consistently good. My partner and I have come here a few times to co-work, get some writing or reading done, and even for breakfast. It is in a great location, close to the beach and library. They always have changing art on the wall, as well as books and games. The staff provide good service, although they do get backed up quickly when busy. I am only give 4 stars instead of 5 because the coffee is good but not excellent. I've been here a few times only because there are limited coffee options in the area, but unfortunately the coffee itself isn't very good and the service hasn't been great either. On my most recent visit I asked if they could quickly rinse my reusable cup before filling it. It only had some dried coffee residue in it. I've worked in the coffee business for years and have never had a shop refuse something that simple. The barista working (a balding man behind the counter) was quite rude and insisted they couldn't rinse it "because of health code." When I calmly mentioned that there is no such provision in the California Retail Food Code and this is not a violation, he doubled down and rolled his eyes and said "no it is!" If it's just their shop policy, that's perfectly fine. But misrepresenting it as a health department rule and responding so dismissively left a bad impression. Between the mediocre coffee and the unfriendly service, I won't be returning. read more

The cookie butter was for someone else but they like their stuff super sweet so to them it was so good but to me it was too sweet. The best things about this coffee shop is location, prices and beautifully presented drinks. 2nd street is a prime location, but it also has some tough competition. This was my 1st time to this establishment. I wanted to order something customized, and the lady assisting initially said it couldn't be done,but then called over another employee who said sure. Was in the area to work out and stopped by to get my morning cup of coffee. It was early enough that I was able to find parking upfront, which is rare for Belmont. The place was packed, which is always a good sign. People enjoying the outdoor seating as well as plenty of people inside visiting or working on their laptop. Walked in and was greeted right away. Having never been there I asked the barista for some recommendations for something that was sweet, but not overpowering. He made some really good suggestions and I ended up going with one of their seasonal coffees. I sat at their little bar area while i waited for my coffee. Before starting our day in Long Beach, we needed our usual coffee fix. We stopped by Chapter 11 Coffee for a drink and a bite to eat. I ordered a Spanish latte, which was delicious! it had plenty of cinnamon, which I love. My boyfriend got an ube latte, which he also enjoyed, but between the two, the Spanish latte was definitely the winner. I had the Supreme Croissant, which comes pretty stacked, and it was so good, it definitely hit the spot. My boyfriend ordered the Hawaiian Spam breakfast (or at least I think that's what it was called), and he really enjoyed it. It wasn't busy, with just a few people in the store, which was fine with us. The ambiance was cute, clean, and comfortable--kind of homey. My friend got their Black sesame iced latte, which she really enjoyed, and I got the Vietnamese iced coffee, which tasted as it should. Husband and I decided to try this place for the first time today. Service was good and quick, workers were friendly, and there are some board games available to play which was nice, but our lattes were lacking. Both were too sweet and took away from the coffee flavor. I ordered a Spanish latte which I didn't know came with cacao powder and tasted more like very sweet, rich chocolate milk. As you can see, the bottom of the cup was very saturated with it. I was only able to drink half because it was just too thick and sweet. My husband ordered the Nutella latte with cold foam and also said his drink was very sweet. I had a sip and it tasted just like Nutella but I couldn't get the coffee flavor. He said it was like a Nutella sweet dessert drink. He said it's good if that's what you want but we really just wanted the coffee flavor and less of the sweetness. If you're into very sweet drinks with a very faint coffee flavor, you might love it. I personally am usually into sweet drinks too but even this was too sweet for me. Also a bit on the pricey side. Unfortunately, nothing that made Moon Mountain special seems to have carried over. The food feels poorly put together and bland. The coffee leaves a lot to be desired...watered down, not hot enough, and the beans just don't taste high quality. For a coffee shop, that part matters. Even the ambiance feels off compared to what this place used to be. On top of that, they don't honor their stamp cards, which was frustrating service wise. They recommended to me the Banana Cream Pie Latte, which was a delicious banana-y latte with vanilla wafer crunched up on top. My friends are big fans of the Vietnamese Iced Coffee here.
