Stopped by here on a Sunday morning and its a nice little coffee shop. There is a good amount of seating inside. They have a variety of coffee options. I ordered the banana latte and it was delicious. I got it half sweet with almond milk and it was perfect. Chapter 2 took over the previous spot. Honestly the rebrand and the remodel is great. It's way more inviting and its bright. Surprisingly, they have a lot of menu items to choose from including breakfast and lunch items. I tried their specialty decaf pumpkin latte, definitely one of my favs on 2nd. I highly recommend checking it out. read more

Been giving this place chances, 3 to be exact, over 1 year, and every time I leave disappointed. I used to come here when this was Moon Mountain Coffee, so I really wanted Chapter II to be good. Unfortunately, nothing that made Moon Mountain special seems to have carried over. The food feels poorly put together and bland. The coffee leaves a lot to be desired...watered down, not hot enough, and the beans just don't taste high quality. For a coffee shop, that part matters. Even the ambiance feels off compared to what this place used to be. On top of that, they don't honor their stamp cards, which was frustrating service wise. I genuinely want this place to succeed because the neighborhood deserves a solid coffee spot, but after three tries, I can't justify coming back. read more

I stumbled across this place awhile ago, because I refused to go to Starbucks anymore. Hahaha. Well, I am sooooo happy I did. I absolutely LOVE this place. Their Chaggacino is the best coffee I have ever had, I am hooked. I ended up buying two bags of the Energinseng Organic Chaga Mushroom powder. The atmosphere is cozy, there are a lot of great places to sit and enjoy the beautiful view of 2nd St. The staff is friendly and the vibe is always sweet, it feels nice to be seen. I also love that the art on the walls changes too, its great to see the collections of many artists. I can't say enough good things about this place, I told all my friends about this place. Another great coffee option on Second Street! Chapter II has a great vibe and really friendly staff. They recommended to me the Banana Cream Pie Latte, which was a delicious banana-y latte with vanilla wafer crunched up on top. My friends are big fans of the Vietnamese Iced Coffee here. Compared to the other coffee options on Second Street, I think Chapter II is great value for the quality and innovation of the drinks. read more

The coffee was amazing! I thought I ordered the smaller size, but when I got it, it was huge -- definitely a nice bonus. I got the iced cookie butter latte, and it was so good. The service was also great; the lady who helped me was really kind and sweet. The ambiance was nice too -- people were chatting and working. Went here for breakfast and a coffee. They had a good selection of both, something for everybody. My husband got the spam breakfast sandwich and I got the hash brown burrito with bacon. Both were really good but unfortunately were really skimpy on the meat. His sandwich had one tiny sliver of spam (hilarious because spam is so cheap, why skimp?). Mine had one slice of thin bacon. Disappointing for paying $52 for two drinks and two breakfast items. Drinks were good, good ube cold foam. Cute cafe, staff was nice, service was fine. read more

Such a great coffee shop in a cool part of town that seems to be the main strip. Street parking was easy to find. The staff were friendly, and they had lots of drink options for to choose from, coffee lover or not. Coffee tasted great, and was made correctly. I will definitely come back next time I am in town. Chapter II is stacked with caffeine and baked goodies. I recently stopped by to grab a bite after visiting a nearby plant store. This coffee shop is located on 2nd Street in Long Beach. Their outdoor patio is shaded, comfortable, and offering prime seating for people watching. I ordered the Ube Latte with oat milk, a cranberry muffin, and a turkey sandwich. my cold brew with sugar free chocolate syrup was good. they offered multiple sugar free options which I always appreciate. I thought it was pricey. My friend got an iced latte with whole milk and said it was decent but not notable. the barista recommended him the supreme croissant which he enjoyed although messy and there was a long wait for. it was served with an unspecified dipping sauce. The atmosphere was nice - there were books to read, plants, string lights, and wall decor. the interior was small with some seating. its in a good location with lots of stores around. they have lots of specialty drinks I would love to try. Unfortunately the coffee was not very good. The barista seemed new so I felt bad but messed up on the drinks we ordered. We ordered a sugar cookie latte and he gave us a cookie butter latte. After we let him know he proceeded to remake the drink but added coconut milk instead of heavy cream. When I asked him if there was heavy cream in it he blatantly lied and said there was. Instead of arguing we just took it and walked out. It is in a cute location but quality is lacking. read more

I am not usually a coffee person, but every once in a while I like to indulge in a decadent coffee treat that tastes more like dessert than coffee. The black sesame latte at Chapter II is FANTASTIC. I have also tried the Nutella latte which is even more decadent, but was honestly a little too sweet even for me. If you have a big sweet tooth, you'll love it. Staff are friendly and I appreciate that they have menu items like these that you don't find anywhere else in LB. read more

lowkey the other drinks beside coffee are crazy overpriced (ex. mix berry smoothie $9) personally, i think it's only worth it for the sandwiches! the acai bowl is super overpriced compared to natural bowls (which also has bigger portions) my cashier was kind of rude, putting other stuff away and not really seeming to care about what i was ordering the only plus of this place is the nice seating & bathroom. read more

My hubby and I frequent 2nd Street often on a Sunday and we've passed this coffee spot always wanting to give it a try (we've typically already gotten coffee in Seal Beach at Javatini before LB). Well today was the day tie double caffeine. My hubby got a triple shot espresso and I, the pumpkin cloud iced and a warmed ham and cheese croissant. When I say that pumpkin drink was delish, I mean I drank the large I. 2.7 seconds delish! The cold foam is hazelnut and it added such a burst of yumminess to the drink. Mmm The croissant itself was absolutely perfect. Reminded me of one in Paris, flaky, buttery and soft. The ham and cheese would've been better if spread throughout vs just in the center. Still yummy but probably wouldn't get fit $7.50. The staff were very helpful with a suggestion (pumpkin drink) and friendly as we entered and left. The place itself is decorated nicely and has many spots to enjoy your beverage at. With tables and chairs inside and out. We DEFINITELY will be back! I'm bummed the pumpkin drink is seasonal though. read more

Came here for my lunch break for a quick bite and coffee and it was cute! The decor was precious and left room for people to work/study or meet up with a friend. The coffee latte was pretty but VERY sweet. I think lining the cup with cookie butter and adding cookies and more butter on top of the cold foam was just too much. However I got the croissant sandwich which absolutely slapped. I'll totally come back for that one. read more

I had the most amazing hot apple cider I was feeling like I wanted something refreshing so I asked for it iced and the flavor was so amazing with a great balance of apple with a little bit of the spices combined. Came here once for the ube latte and now im addicted and this place has officially been added to my coffee roster. They have macadamia milk here too which is a rare find Haven't tried the food here yet but the açaí bowls look fire. Needed a coffee but didn't want the usual Starbucks, so I decided to check this place out. Their menu is full of interesting choices, including a cold foam Nutella latte with hazelnut cream. It was as good as expected, maybe a bit sweet, but very refreshing. However, I docked two stars for poor customer service. There were three of us waiting, and it took a while for the service person to notice us. She seemed disinterested in helping and barely announced our orders. They don't take names, so she just called out "Cold" for mine, which I assumed was my drink since no one else moved. I don't usually rate places on customer service since I understand people have bad days, but all three workers seemed unhappy and unhelpful, which made the experience and the coffee just okay. I sat outside to escape the negative vibes inside. With so many other coffee options on 2nd St., it's not worth returning for a "meh" experience. read more

I had such an amazing experience at this new coffee spot! The place itself is decorated so cute, it's definitely Instagram-worthy. I tried the ube matcha and the cold foam nutella coffee, and both were absolutely delicious! You can tell they put effort into their drinks. On top of great coffee, they also offer food and pastries. I absolutely loved this coffee shop! One of the most impressive things is that they allow dogs indoors--such a rare and thoughtful touch for pet owners. Cool, they can make it. what I got was a cup of coffee in a to go cup (even though I was dining in) with milk and a foam, so really what I got was a flat white. the other coffee ordered was a latte which was pretty standard I ordered the chicken sandwich ($12) which comes on a biscuit and a side of fruit, to round it out I also ordered the yogurt bowl which is yogurt and granola. When the sandwich came out it looked rather disappointing. The biscuit itself is small, probably the size of a Pillsbury dough biscuit, and the chicken wasn't much bigger. nothing else on it like a green, coleslaw, sauce, etc. just these two items. However, it did come with a side of a honey butter. the side of fruit was about 8 pieces split between pineapple, melon, and grapes. the whole sandwich was dry, which can be expected from a biscuit, but this was just too dry for me. the yogurt bowl($8) came in a small bowl that had a large flaring, basically the entire dish was large but the bowl portion was small. I eat yogurt everyday and the amount you get is probably half the size of a standard serving of yogurt (170g) and it was sparsely sprinkled with granola. my partner ordered a chorizo burrito ($15) and while she raved about the flavor the size of it was laughable, especially considering there are plenty of spots in LB that serve double or even triple the size of this burrito at or near the same price lastly, and the most disappointing of all, was the cinnamon roll($8). they were on display at the register and figured yeah I want one of those and instead of giving it to me right then and there it was brought with the rest of the food but it was not warmed up, which made me question why I waited for it. It was rool temp, burnt, and hard. I do want to try other items but the price you pay for what you get, especially considering this experience I had, is off putting.

I've been to this coffee shop many times before and have never been treated this way by any of the brothers who work there, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I asked to use the restroom because I genuinely had to go. I was told I needed to make a purchase first. I was already planning on buying something, so I made the purchase. After I paid, I was STILL told I couldn't use the restroom because the employee said she felt uncomfortable. If there is a restroom policy, I understand. But I followed what I was told to do and made a purchase, so I don't understand why I was still denied. I then asked for the employee's name because I wanted to make a complaint. Asking for an employee's name is NOT a threat. It is a normal thing for a customer to do when they want to provide feedback. What I don't understand is why the situation escalated to the point where I was being kicked out simply for asking for a name. That's why I didn't immediately leave. I wanted to explain myself because I genuinely felt like I had not done anything wrong. The dad was the person I was trying to speak with because he was the only one I felt I could have a calm conversation with. I was NOT screaming at him. I was trying to explain what happened. He was explaining their restroom policy, but I don't think he understood that I had ALREADY made a purchase and that there was more to the situation. It felt like everyone immediately took the daughter's side because she said she felt uncomfortable without stopping to ask why or what had actually happened. As a business owner, you should understand the entire situation before making a decision. If your daughter says she feels uncomfortable, why not ask what happened and understand both sides before removing a customer? I eventually left because I didn't want the situation to escalate further. Instead, I was being pushed out while people were recording me and putting their phones in my face. I did not give permission or consent to be recorded, and I specifically said that during the interaction. I was not recording them during that time. But then I did have to record and I do have a recording of the moment when the mom touched me to make me leave, and what I said during that interaction is on the recording. There are also cameras at the busines that can show what happened. I should have called the police when she put her hands on me, but I chose not to. I'm a mom too, and I didn't want to put another family in that situation while emotions were high. I would have preferred for someone to simply take a moment to understand what happened. This was never about who was right or wrong. It was about basic etiquette and customer service. I also looked at the business Instagram afterward and saw that it is Latino family-owned. I'm Latina as well, so it was especially disappointing to feel so unwelcome. I'm a mom and a single mom, and I had gotten very little sleep that day. I'll be honest I did not look put together. I looked tired because I WAS tired. The way I was treated left me feeling like I was being judged based on my appearance. I'm not saying I know what was in anyone's mind, but I know how the interaction made me feel. If someone walks into your business looking tired, messy, or not "put together," should they receive different treatment? Customers deserve basic respect regardless of how they look. After everything happened, I didn't even receive my full refund. The money was thrown back to me in a way that felt extremely disrespectful. I've been here many times and never experienced anything like this. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will never be back and I will never spend another dime here. This isn't about revenge or threatening anyone. It's about basic respect, customer service, and etiquette especially here in Long Beach. I came in as a customer. I expected to be treated with respect. That's it.

Might well be the coolest *vibe* coffee shop in Long Beach. Funny enough, every time I happened to be in the immediate area, it just happened to be during a Sunday morning "listening session", so I had thought that meant they only play interesting records from their collection on Sunday morning, which is, as it turns out, entirely inaccurate: they are *always* playing records from their large collection of interesting records, just that most Sunday mornings, they do a specially-curated "listening session" where they briefly talk about their selections, then bring up the volume a little and ask people to be quieter, to enjoy the music. Which is pretty neat! I should really go to those more often, instead of just by accident each time. Unusually, they really focus entirely on class drinks, they don't have any zany personalized fancy lattes on their core menu, which I'm totally fine with - their espresso is entirely worth drinking on their own. I'm also very happy with their pastry selection, which they get from Colossus - their brownies are very good, *very* affordable, and go spectacularly with espresso, so that's a draw in and of itself. The only thing I couldn't get quite as much behind - I was so excited when they announced a couple months ago that they'd just started a new brunch menu, to include breakfast tacos. I also love that their coffee is imported from El Salvador, you can really taste the quality of the beans. It's a great place to study or get some work done, and the atmosphere is inviting. My only complaint is that it can feel a little warm and humid inside. Overall, though, it's a wonderful spot!

The outside stand with burritos is awesome and I secretly hope it's there when visiting. The selection of baked goods is very narrow. And it also seems like owner is trying to be on the safe side and not to be left with a few extra muffins in the end of the shift... The most basic bakery item, such as a plain croissant, would've been really helpful. Overall it's a good place.
