There's a very rude barista who works at this location. I don't know her name because she was not wearing a name tag but she was curt and short to both myself and two other individuals who ordered after me. When you walk up to the register, she doesn't greet you or smile or say anything, just looks at you like she's irritated you would deign to approach her with your presence. For the entire ordering encounter, she treats you like she's annoyed you're even there. Cute and small location, I usually order their VTMatcha and it's delicious every time. I'm also a fan of their cold foam variations from strawberry, sea salt or sweet vanilla too. They also have a non-dairy house creamer! Service here has been great for me, some patience is needed on a weekend morning when they are swamped with the crowds from the nearby gyms! I really wanted to have some good matcha einspänner so decided to try out the ones by Blk Dot Coffee. This cafe location is inside of a shopping center with tight parking spaces and availability. I attribute that partially due to the Trader Joe's being so close to it, and the day of the week being Saturday morning. The order was placed online for an in-store pickup. I arrived about 10 minutes prior to the promised ready time and my order was actually ready. The drink itself did not have a very strong matcha flavor I was looking for. It still had a nice mouthfeel to it. I appreciated the cocoa powder dusting on top and the amount of ice being perfect. Many times, these cafes tend to put a huge amount of ice and so little drink to actually sip on. Not here! I also liked witnessing the barista placing my drink in the fridge instead of leaving out on the countertop for me to until I arrived to get it. Many cafes tend to just leave it on the pick-up counter space for someone to accidentally take it or the ice melting half way and getting gross. Something to keep in mind -- there is really no space to sit down and enjoy your drink, socialize, or study. It was quite busy inside the store and the line was long and disorganized. The drinks will become available fairly quickly, but expect the wait time to be a bit on the longer side during the weekend mornings. read more

I have had plain coffee from this place and it was pretty good but today I wanted to try something different. My friend ordered the matcha latte and I had the oat milk brown sugar cold drink. My friend enjoyed her matcha however mine tasted like a plain iced coffee so I asked for some more of the syrup and then it became too sweet. I had to drink slowly so it wasn't too much for me. Plenty of parking and love that there was a Trader Joe's nearby. Any excuse to go into Trader Joe's... lol. Inside was clean. I got my drink in no time. When I went, I was able to order right away... but then a bunch of people started coming in afterwards; it got really busy. My experience was amazing! So I have been on a coffee tour in Long Beach and definitely had this spot on the radar. Blk Dot is really small inside. It did get a little crowded when there was a good group waiting for their coffee. They do have a few tables outside, but it was a little chilly and so most of us were waiting inside. I love matcha and jumped at the chance to try their mango Matcha. It was amazing. I don't ordinarily order mango because it can be a little overpowering, but this was perfect. It was a beautiful blend of both Matcha and mango. My boyfriend tried the light Vietnamese coffee, which was also very tasty. Vietnamese coffee can be pretty strong and I'm so glad he got the light version. We did have their breakfast sausage bowl and their breakfast sandwhich. The bowl is huge. We could have shared that and still been equally full. I did take off a star because I have been to a lot of coffee places and i have had some really nice experiences with staff especially when I had questions and I just wasn't getting that vibe from the team here. read more

I just threw away my $9 hot honey coffee bcus they didn't want to remake it despite me asking for "half sweet". On my weekly visits I usually order the same thing... today, I HATED my coffee. When I say it was so sweet it burned my throat...yuck. I asked if they could remake it with the "half sweet" option I asked for and the girl up front said " okay but I have to charge you for another one" I genuinely shocked asked why and they said "because that's the recipe". They continued to argue with me until my husband stepped in and the barista finally offered an extra expreso shot but it was just a terrible and humiliating experience. The bad reviews on customer service here are very valid because the people that work here are sooooo incredibly rude. There's probably been one time where I genuinely felt welcome and had a "good morning" from someone. I forsure will not be coming back. I usually try to give customer service workers grace because I understand people have long days, but the customer service I experienced here was honestly bad enough to leave a review. There is one barista in particular who consistently comes across as rude, unwelcoming, and completely uninterested in acknowledging customers. She has brown hair, light skin, looks Hispanic, ALWAYS has an RBF, LITERALLY EVERYDAY. Every time I come in for a mobile pickup or just getting something fast after pilates, it feels like a basic greeting is asking too much. No "hi," no "how can I help you," no "are you picking up an order?" Just silence, attitude, and the energy of someone who is annoyed that customers exist in a customer service environment. I don't expect anyone to be overly bubbly or fake, but a simple acknowledgment goes a long way, especially when customers are standing there trying to pick up an order they already paid for. Instead, the interaction feels cold, uncomfortable, and unnecessary. What makes it worse is that this does not come across as a one-time bad day. It feels like a consistent attitude problem. The drinks may be fine, but service like this leaves a bad taste before you even take a sip. A business can have a good product, but if the person handing it to you acts bothered by your existence, it ruins the entire experience. Management really needs to step in because one employee's poor attitude can make the whole location look unprofessional. Customers are not inconveniences, and basic courtesy should not feel like a luxury. If someone cannot handle greeting people, acknowledging mobile orders, or treating customers with a minimum level of respect, then they should not be the person representing the business at the counter. This place is very small so if you plan to just sit and sip on your coffee it wont happen, unless you take one of the few tables outside. Ordered their hot VTMatcha for myself and it was decent. The Vietnamese coffee portion was light but the matcha portion was good. Unsure if the customer service just improved over the years or I came in on a good day. I went in an hour before closing, and all of the tables and chairs were put up. I asked "are you still open" the girl audibly sighed, rolled her eyes, and said yes. I ordered an iced Vietnamese coffee and it was terrible. It was not fresh, and tasted dirty. If you are in the area, please go to Gong Cha across the street. This place has good coffee. Have been here a couple of times to grab a quick caffeine fix to go. That is because there is no seating inside nor outside, but their coffee makes up for it. I highly recommend the Spanish latte which is espresso and milk, sweetened with condensed milk and topped with cinnamon. I also love the Vietnamese Einspanner which is a strong espresso drink topped with their house cream. The baristas are always busy yet still take their time to explain the different drinks to you. Please keep in mind this location is in a busy plaza with a Nektar juice bar and Trader Joe's next door. Parking can be a chore. read more

This is overall a great place. However very pricey for coffee....I come here to order the Vietnamese coffee which is delicious and it always taste fresh with premium beans. It is a very clean environment with quick service and very friendly personnel. They have a food menu as well but I have never tried anything from that. I might in the future it is just so unnecessary expensive. I understand prices has gone up but it just takes the edge off when they have nothing in the menu that is decently priced. I've never visited Blk Dot in person, only ordered through DoorDash, but I've tried a few of their drinks. To be honest, nothing really stood out to me until I tried the Iced VTMatcha. It's basically Vietnamese iced coffee with matcha, and it's easily the best drink I've had from here. My coworker recently ordered it for the first time and couldn't stop raving about it. I'm usually someone who sticks to the same drinks, and to be honest, I wasn't too excited about ordering from here again. But for the sake of joining in with my team, I got the Iced VTMatcha and now it's the only thing I'll ever order from Blk Dot. read more
