Loved my experience at Philz recently!! I have been a fan of the Honey Haze for a while but specifically the Long Beach Second Street location is awesome, the workers and ambiance are fantastic. Everyone, especially Connor were so nice and I was able to focus here too! Connor helped me out when ordering and was very polite and sweet! A Philz Coffee employee told me "f*ck you" during a curbside pickup at the Belmont Shore location. I placed a mobile order and chose curbside pickup for convenience. When the employee finally came out with my order, I said "hello" and got no response. I then said "thank you" while grabbing the drinks and was met with an extremely rude, dirty look. His attitude was immediately hostile for no reason. When I calmly told him he was being rude, he responded sarcastically and then escalated the situation by yelling at us and saying "f*ck you" before walking away. I was honestly in complete disbelief. That is unacceptable behavior from anyone, especially someone working in customer service. If you're in the area, you're better off going to Stereoscope Coffee down the street. The staff there are friendly, welcoming, and they don't curse at their customers. Philz seriously needs to address how this location treats people, because no one should be spoken to like that just for picking up coffee. read more

Convenient location on busy 2nd St. Parking available out front including a 30 minute spot available for grab and go customers. Please do not abuse of it. The space is chill with comfortable seating and great music playing in the background. I ordered the Monday's daily feature, which is the caramel coconut. It is iced. It comes with creamy oat milk, sweet sugar. I asked for half sweet sugar. It was Perfect. I placed my order through the app, which is really intuitive, and convenient. Best coffee place on 2nd street. I tried them all, Philz Coffee is the one I liked the best.

Located in Belmont Shore amongst a bunch of other shops and restaurants the coffee options were either Philz or this other place that was so popular the line was out the door. Ordering was easy and the cashier was friendly. However, it took forever to get my coffee which was a simple plain black coffee. I finally saw that people who ordered after me got theirs before me so I went up to the counter to ask the barista. She was rude and was like it's right here and didn't call my name or anything. Philz, you got me. I uhm. I ordered a few things thinking I was getting some fancy schmancy experience based on your photos and descriptions. My SO that I surprised with a mint mojito? You just threw 1/4 of a cup of mint leaves into his coffee cup and called it a day. The bacon breakfast burrito was one of the smallest ones I've had to date, for a wild price. Please, wash your potatoes before adding them to burritos. Thank you for the packet of cholula hot sauce. The cinnamon bun lacked cinnamon, and was dry. I'm so embarrassed. Perfect corner spot to hangout with friends over coffee, snacks or doing some work or just simply enjoying life by watching folks walk by. It's definitely a cool inviting vibe place. This use to be where I hung out with my kid on Sunday later afternoon when he just a baby. These Philz Coffee employees at this particular location gave me an assorted experience in energy. Overall if I were to give it a clever title as a reference I'd refer to it as "moody with a cloudy chance of bad attitudes." I would say at least four of the staff members that was either verbally engaged with or seen engaging with another customer were visibly in a sour space. If you are sensitive to low vibrational environments or perhaps neurodivergent I'd say that this Philz Coffee location's team is the kind that you go in with a playlist of affirmations, good vibes music or an inspirational podcast. I personally was treated like an ATM by the male cashier who took my order he had no feeling and was cold, frigid, and unkind in his transaction with me. He was rather blatant about scouting my every move around the cafe it felt as if I was being stalked and harassed. Whenever I'd go near the restroom area he would send the female worker who made my drink to come within view of the area to watch me and whenever I walked away from the area the said employee would leave. Now as for the drinks that we got it was absolutely delicious and tasted of quality! For the point of reference, we got an Iced and Hot Rose Coffee with oatmilk for the cream. I would rate it a 5/5. It was refreshing the ingredients tasted fresh and it was perfectly sweetened. The female employee who made my drink did an excellent job and although she was standoffish in her communication that made speaking with her a strange moment I appreciate her providing customer service and really caring about making coffee just right. It turned out so tasty that I went back just to let her know that I had gratitude for her hard work and that I wanted to acknowledge that. As for the space, it was a bit crowded for my taste but I would not let that deter you from giving this place a try. If you intend to do any remote or creative digital work I'd recommend charging tech devices beforehand as this place is scant of electrical outlets. The bathroom area was fairly unclean and unkempt the staff could make greater effort in keeping up with this area. Last but not least you kinda have to get creative with finding an acceptable yet safe place to park so take your time when doing so. read more

I forgot the name of it but it had hazelnut and honey and my friends told me to order it creamy. It was ready quickly and the lady making the coffee told me to tase it and if I didn't like anything about it she would make it over for me. I thought that was a nice touch. I stopped in for a coffee, and while the service/drink itself was fine, the overall atmosphere wasn't what I was looking for. The shop prominently displays political and social-movement flags, which made the space feel more like a venue for activism than a neutral, relaxing café. I prefer places that keep the environment focused on good coffee and a welcoming atmosphere for everyone, regardless of beliefs. I stopped in for what I thought was going to be a decently quick stop to pick up some coffee but that turned into 15 or so minutes plus messing my order up. This is my 1st time having the famous Philz coffee. This is a Palestinian owned cafe. I love how this place is open later than other cafes. It has a plenty of space and outlets. There is parking in the back too. I really like they use recycle able and compostable cup. They also use green beans. They have free coffee beans for your garden and treats for your dogs. You have options to choose light, mediums and dark roast. The sweetness and creamy level. I tried the honey haze. It comes with oat milk and you can really taste the sweetness of the honey. It was one of the cheapest coffee. It was $5.45. The barista even asked me to try it first to ensure I liked it first. read more

Recently returned to SoCal, I made a point of seeking out a link in this upscale and completely unique coffee shop micro-chain.  I wanted to score a "fix" of their amazing premium-quality Java.  Philz serves a variety of different roasts to suit whatever your mood and personal coffee profile calls for.  You'll find light, medium, and dark roasts (both "leaded" and "unleaded") of the various blends that Philz roasts and offers to their patrons either by the bag or by the cup. Philz does all of their drinks as a custom pour over to ensure that each cup is fresh and satisfying.  You can also buy bags of beans (either whole or ground) to brew your own premium Java at home :-) I've visited more than half a dozen different Philz locations in both Northern and Southern California, and found the coffee uniformly amazing! Their baristas are obviously well trained and carefully selected to provide helpful, friendly service.  Once you've experienced the way they operate, you'll be very reluctant to make do with the coffee and service in other, inferior coffee shops. So, what should you try first?  Their most (in)famous selection is the mint mojito coffee - an intriguing combination!  I've found that this selection equally enjoyable served hot in the winter, or iced in the summer.  After you try one for the first time, you'll probably be asking yourself how this particular combination tastes so amazingly good!  It's the kind of problem we all need to have every once and again ;-) Over and above the mint mojito, you might also consider trying another of my current favorites: Ambrosia of God - It's a medium roast with a subtle finish and deliciously sweet/nutty overtones Philtered Soul - Another wonderful medium roast; you can really taste the hazelnut flavor.  The Philtered Soul also perfectly blends the taste of chocolate with the hazelnut such that you can still distinctly recongiize both tastes, with the blending enhancing both flavors. Surprisingly last week was my first time ordering at Philz, and I can't believe I've been missing out on their Iced Mint Mojito Latte. It's smooth, refreshing, and not overly sugary. I have been to this location twice and enjoy doing work here. There is plenty of seating throughout the shop and outlets! There are so many coffee spots on 2nd street; I'm surprised how popping it gets here! Also, who is on the aux here, I know it's not the radio. Absolute bangers being played, we got Kid Cudi, J Cole, Kendrick, Post Malone, Khalid, the Weekend, and throwbacks. I'm singing while I'm supposed to be working, haha. As for the food here, I'm not a big fan! Just super salty and taste like bad frozen food. If I were to compare it to Starbucks, I like their food better than here. read more

I was waiting for a very long time in another coffee/milk tea spot down the street when I eventually got tired of waiting and decided to walk down the street to see what else was good. I have only had philz one other time and it was a bad experience in the bay. When I walked in, the guy at counter was really friendly and described everything on the menu for me. He answered all my questions and helped me choose something eventually. I went with the Jacobs wonderbar. A good choice if you enjoy chocolate. Decent coffee, I didn't realize they didn't have flavors so fairly basic coffee-- even for a simple iced coffee, you can't add a flavor shot, only sweetener. Speedy service and clean spot! Wouldn't stop by again but overall alright for plain coffee. read more
