Food was great and the ambiance is really beautiful, totally transported to a whole different location. Our server was Francis and he was phenomenal, we asked for his recommendations on starters and entrees and also for a wine. Okay, so this is my second time at Ammatoli and I figured I should finally write a review. Both visits happened to be birthday celebrations with friends within a year. First time around was awesome, my friend chose this place -- the food was amazing and they surprised my friend with a cute little birthday treat, and service was super friendly too. Beautiful interior. This second time though with a different friend group, kind of a letdown not going to lie. Food was still good, but my friend said her shawarma came out dry. And here's the thing that bothered me -- they *knew* it was a birthday. Both the hostess and our waitress brought it up when we sat down. But by the end of dinner? Nothing. I understand that restaurants don't owe you anything for a birthday, but it felt weird after seeing how they handled it last time. Just seemed inconsistent, you know? Also, this place isn't cheap (which honestly we're fine with), but if you're gonna charge that much and not even do a little something for a birthday, this will make me think twice about coming back here with friends for special occasions. Literally every other place we went to this month did the tiny treat with a candle for a happy birthday thing. But Ammatoli? Nothing. i had the pleasure of having brunch at Ammatoli a couple weekends ago and it was truly fantastic. our server took the time to go through the menu, explain what everything was, and give us her recommendations, which were SOLID. the fattet jaj was a chicken and rice dish with toasted pita bread, garlic yogurt sauce, toasted almonds, and pomegranate seeds on top. it was basically a layered dish, so with each layer you get something a little different. once everything gets mixed together, though? party in your mouth. the flavors were rich, creamy, savory, crunchy, a little sweet. the roasted beets labneh absolutely stole the show for us. fire roasted beets, labneh, and nigella seeds. so simple, but light enough that it was fantastic paired with some of the heavier dishes. it was also the most delightful shade of pink. visually and taste wise, chef's kiss. my only complaint is that it doesn't come with bread or pita, so you'll have to order that separately. because how else am i gonna shovel labneh into my mouth. the batata harra was potatoes with cilantro and roasted chili sauce. tart, vinegary, and fucking delicious. i air fried the leftovers when i got home and they were delicious all over again. the avocado delight was a super fresh avocado and cucumber salad and the perfect side to balance out some of the heavier items. we 100% finished the whole thing lol. not a cucumber left behind. all in all, i cannot wait to go back. the inside is beautiful, the service was solid, and the food was even more solid. they also have outdoor seating if that's your thing. we made reservations just in case and i'm glad we did because the restaurant filled up pretty quickly. can't wait to return and eat my way through the rest of the menu! read more

We arrived at Ammatoli around 6 pm on a Tuesday. Yelp listed them as closing at 7, but we were told last orders were at 7:30, and we never felt rushed during our meal. Our server Francis was very upbeat, kind, and helpful, especially since it was our first time visiting. He walked us through some of his favorite menu items and explained the different flavors, which made deciding what to order much easier. We got the 3 Way Mezza with Spicy Hummus, Roasted Beets Hummus, and Mutabbal, along with Housemade Pita, the Cheese Sticks, and Spicy Garlic Lemon Chicken. The fresh pita was one of my favorite parts. It was so light and fresh that you could tell it was made in-house. The Spicy Hummus and Roasted Beets Hummus were also standouts. The Cheese Sticks were crispy and flavorful, and I really enjoyed the flavor of the chicken, although it was a little dry for me. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a really nice atmosphere. There's also parking just down the street, and we were able to park for free during our visit. Overall, I had a really good first experience at Ammatoli. Delicious Mediterranean food, kind service, and a gorgeous spacious restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating is right by the street though, so it could be noisy. I chose to sit inside. The food is absolutely stunning in flavor and presentation. We had the Brunch Menu and ordered the Roasted Beet Hummus, Mini Shawarmas, Mediterranean Fries, Mint Lemonade, and Orange Blossom Latte. I loved all of it. We came back to Ammatoli because, since we were already in the area, we just couldn't pass by without going in. Once again, we had an amazing experience! This time Anthony helped us out, gave us some great suggestions, and was very friendly from start to finish. The food was impeccable! I honestly don't know how they do it, but every bite is better than the last. Of course, we had to finish everything with the same dessert we had last time, and I have a feeling it's going to become our tradition every time we come back. Ammatoli has been on my list for a while and finally got a chance to stop by. I got the following: muhammara, pita bread, kibbeh, and Zataar manousheh. As someone who has family from Syria the kibbeh had some curry notes and I wasn't accustomed to that flavor profile with that dish. The muhammara had a decent kick, solid dish. The Zataar was decent. I ended the night with Turkish coffee, I like the presentation. Overall, I think this spot showcases Levantine food well and if you are trying to expand your palette it's a good introduction to Levantine food. Such a beautiful experience at Ammatoli in Long Beach! The food was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and felt very authentic. We ordered several dishes to share, which is definitely the way to go here. The hummus topped with tender meat and toasted pine nuts was rich and creamy, and the baba ghanoush had that wonderful smoky eggplant flavor I always look for. The falafel was another favorite--crispy and deeply golden on the outside without being dry inside. I also really enjoyed the fattet hummus. The combination of chickpeas, yogurt, crispy bread, toasted nuts, pomegranate, and herbs had so many different textures and flavors in one dish. Even the pickles and bright pink turnips were delicious and a perfect contrast to the richer dishes. The shakshuka-style dish came to the table in a beautiful skillet, still bubbling in a rich tomato sauce with eggs, herbs, and spices. It was comforting, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. What I especially appreciated was the attention to presentation. Everything came out looking beautiful and colorful, but it wasn't just about appearance--the flavors delivered too. As someone familiar with Middle Eastern food, I'm usually pretty particular about these dishes, and Ammatoli did a wonderful job. It's a great place to come with family or friends, order a table full of dishes, and share everything. Food was very good with a personal highlight being the zahra mezza. The cauliflower is satisfying to eat with the freshly baked pita and hummus. Pistachio was excluded due to tree nut allergy, which was much appreciated. Jilane was a great server, she was informative and easy to talk to regarding food that may impact my food allergy. She even informed me that sumac on the onions may trigger a reaction so we opted to leave it out to err on the side of caution. I am grateful that she is someone who takes allergies seriously! Ammatoli has been on my list of restaurants to try for some time now and I'm so glad I finally made my way to LB to try it. It's a casual, but upscale vibe with a beautiful middle eastern aesthetic. Now, into the food: Mezza - ordered the trio of red beet hummus, muttabal, and muhammara. I love muttabal and muhammara so I was surprised that my favorite of the three ended up being the red beet hummus. I loved them all though. The smokiness of the muttabal was great. And of course, the freshly made pita bread was delicious. I do think it's odd that you have to order the pita bread separately and get charged for it when ordering a mezza instead of having the pita bread already come with it. I mean, how else are you supposed to eat the dips otherwise? For the mains, I had the quarter chicken freekeh and my spouse had the lamb chops. We weren't overly impressed with either entree. Good, but nothing extraordinary. Ordered the knafeh for dessert. It is a huge portion and had to take half home. Solid. Our server was sweet but honestly had a little bit of a weird vibe and attentiveness was waning towards the latter half of our meal service. This is one of my favorite places for lunch and work dinners in Long Beach! It is best if you reserve a table ahead of time, no waiting time/directly seated. Parking is pretty convenient too, there are street parking spots but I always go with the parkkng structure (first 2 hours free). You walk in, beautiful set up, very classy designs and colors- with some Arabic music in the background. The food, yum! Definitely one of the few mediterranean places that have authentic food. There are options that are super arabic, like Fattoush and tabouli salads, msakhan, mosakka, and there also other more amercanized versions of food like anything with beats and avocados lol. My go to is always a fattoush salad with kafta and spicy hummus+ mint lemonade...plus that hot fresh bread, delicious! So many options for vegeterians and vegans, since most our mezzas(appetizers) are. For dessert, always in for Knafeh and turkish coffee. Recently felt adventurous and got an Osmeliah ice cream...a dream.
