Taboon has been our favourite Mediterranean spot in Long Beach for years now, and we wished we still lived in the area! This place seems to use only quality ingredients, as everything always tastes fresh. Order some pita bread, and they'll taste like someone just prepped them before you arrived! The chicken shawarma plate is our favourite order, as it is plenty to feed both my wife and me. It comes with delicious chicken, a small salad, hummus, and pickled vegetables. Everything tastes good! Occasionally, we get the falafel, which is also tasty! The garlic sauce that comes on the entrees here is likely our favourite of all garlic sauces we've tried in other spots. We used to frequent this spot, and I've certainly brought a number of friends and coworkers around to bring joy to all of our bellies. Prices are average, and the service is fast. Although there is only street parking available, you'll likely be able to find parking along Bixby Road or Atlantic Blvd, though I tend to avoid the traffic of Atlantic Blvd. There is plenty of seating within, along with some outside seating if that's your vibe. We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. When ordering, I strongly recommend speaking loudly and clearly and asking the server to repeat your order back to you. Our server thought he heard my sister order the Lamb Mediterranean Bowl, but she actually ordered the Chicken Mediterranean Bowl. When the lamb bowl arrived, my sister immediately explained that the order was incorrect and that she had requested chicken, not lamb. Instead of simply correcting the mistake, the server argued with us for 5-10 minutes, repeatedly insisting that we had ordered wrong and saying, "You ordered wrong. You cannot returned the plate. The kitchen already cooked it. What is the kitchen going to do with it? Throw it away?" He even suggested that we could buy chicken kabobs separately for $7 ea. At that point, I asked to speak with the manager or owner. The server walked away, then returned, took my sister's plate and brought out the correct chicken plate. Mistakes happen -- we understand that. What was disappointing was the lack of customer service and the arguing instead of simply handling the situation professionally. While looking for Mediterranean restaurants in the area, we came across this one online because it had good reviews. Parking is rather difficult because you can only use the adjacent curbs. Once we got in the restaurant, it was relaxed with natural sunlight peering in the windows. We were the only ones who had arrived during the late morning. Service was good; we got a good recommendation for an appetizer. The bathroom was also clean. I ordered the lamb kebab, and we got the beef kebab entree and cauliflower (appetizer). The cauliflower had a lot of flavor because the sauce included garlic, cilantro, lemon, and tahini. It was a little too citrusy for my liking, but my family enjoyed it. The lamb was nicely tender and flavorful. In comparison to the beef kebab (grilled filet mignon), the lamb (top sirloin) tasted less chewy. While I didn't have a lunch special wrap, I heard that the kefta (mixture of ground beef and lamb) was very juicy and flavorful. The bowl and entree had house salad, hummus, rice, garlic and tahini sauce, and pita bread. These were all very fresh and delicious. While the bowl has less meat, the other sides can compensate to make you full. The entree is possibly shareable for at most two people. read more

I love the spot! When I first moved to Long Beach, this is the first restaurant I went to, and it was such a great introduction to this city! Pretty easy street parking and the place is gorgeous. The one thing about Mediterranean food is that it is almost always possible to share across the table, giving everyone the chance to try different things. We did that very thing, ordering three appetizers: hummus platter, garlic potatoes, and zahrah (cauliflower). It was all delicious and filling. Staff was amazing. We originally had a two-top table, but belatedly found we had a 3rd person coming. No sweat! They moved us without complaint, and they still got our food to us pronto! I recently came to this place after not coming for so long. I met up with someone for dinner and I wanted to go somewhere that wasn't too loud and where we could walk after dinner. The last time I was here they had just opened and my friend and I loved it. I honestly don't know why it took me so long to come back. Beef kebab entree comes with salad, two kinds of rice, the beefy hummus, garlic sauce and pickled radish. They also give you pita bread on the side. I'm normally not a fan of hummus, but I love theirs. It's so creamy and smooth! The beef just melts in your mouth. I love that there's two kinds of rice. What an absolute hidden gem. We arrived about 30 minutes before opening by accident, and instead of turning us away, Ivan welcomed us in so kindly and let us sit down early. We recently dined at Taboon Mediterranean when we were craving for some mediterranean food. It was a working day night but the restaurant was almost empty and the ambience wasn't very inviting. We were seated inside and were looking down another inside room with some chairs in a store room. Ambience was definitely a bid let down in that regard ! Service was good, our server gave some good recommendations and food arrived on time. We got Chicken Shawarma : which was OK. Did not appreciate few cartilage pieces in the plate. Mixed Plate was again average , Lamb was quite mushy and lacked flavor. I am big on my cola drinks and If a restaurant cannot get their Pepsi/Cokes right , its a big let down for me. I got Diet Pepsi it tasted funny. I could tell it came out of their fountain dispenser but it had a wierd taste and that killed my experience ! There is plenty of street parking. I made reservation reservations since it was New Year's Eve and I was running about five minutes behind and called the restaurant to let them know. They were very friendly and told my guests had already arrived. They have an amazing lemon, mint water. It is a must try! I had a salmon and spicy hummus, cooked perfectly and served well. The waitress was flexible as they mentioned to her. I had some dietary elements and I appreciated her compassion. Everyone at my table, enjoyed their food and said they would return. I've been meeting my bonus son for lunch once a week. He's a UPS driver in that area. He wanted the beef Shawarma wrap. I didn't taste it, but he said it was pretty good. He'd never had Shawarma before. We also got the fried cauliflower and the cold mezza. The cold Mezza comes with hummus, baba ghanoush, mixed pickles and salad. BFF chose this place for her birthday lunch and I had never been (excellent choice)! Made reservations for a 1pm Sunday lunch but didn't need them (very quiet).
