I've never tried this place because they have so many different kinds of cuisine. I thought they can't be good at all of them so I wouldn't know what to get. Volunteering has many benefits, including saving up to $16.49 on a single order of pasta! This probably necessitates an explanation. Over a decade ago, I volunteered for a special event in Long Beach and was given a volunteer shirt to wear during the event. The shirt has the words "Long Beach", and it was a good thing I saved this shirt because it really did save me $16.49 on an order of pasta! I only recently learned about 908 Day when I picked up a 908 Day booklet from a different business in Long Beach. After perusing said booklet and all the deals listed, I determined that, besides a free car wash, Tony's Kitchen offered the best deal: Any pasta for $9.08 from 2 to 8 PM, though there was a stipulation that stated some items, including steak, would be excluded. I arrived just after 7 PM, and it was just about packed! There were a couple of tables open, but nobody at the front desk to greet me. I went up to the counter in the rear of the restaurant to ask about the 908 Day promo since it mentioned what I said earlier about some pastas being excluded from the $9.08 deal. 908 Day booklet in hand, I spoke to a younger server and asked her which of the pastas would be excluded from the $9.08 deal, and she mentioned all of the pastas on the menu would be eligible for that pricing. She then asked if I wanted to dine in or order to go. I initially said "to go", but then she said the deal was dine-in only even though the booklet didn't specify that as a stipulation. Well, okay I guess, but it didn't leave the best first impression, that's for sure. She told me I'd be seated in a bit, and so I sauntered back to the front desk to wait until I got seated at a table for two closest to the front door with less lighting compared to all the other tables for four. The other, older server handed me a menu for me to look over. I studied the menu and was intent on getting a $24 pasta dish since $24 was the highest price tag on their pasta menu. Furthermore, I saw that all but one of those dishes would use chicken as the main protein; the odd one out was the Creamy Chipotle Shrimp, which sounded like a winning combo that I had to go for. The pastas with chicken sounded good too, but the shrimp was calling my name. As I was looking through the menu, I noticed a party of four was seated at a table right in front of me, and they were given glasses of water by the younger server before the older server came back to take my order. Hey! What about me? Well, it only took a minute more for the older server to come take my order. Even though shrimp is not the same as steak, I wanted to confirm with her that the Creamy Chipotle Shrimp would still be eligible for the $9.08 pricing, to which she answered affirmatively, and that was my final decision. She then asked, much to my surprise, if I wanted for here or to go. I didn't want to walk back to my car through a dark alley in the dark, so I chose "to go". She then took the menu and went back to relay my order to the kitchen crew. And so I waited. They had two TVs, one showing the LA Dodgers and the other showing LA Angels, so that kept me company while I was scrolling through my phone during my wait. I wish I had remembered to ask how long it would take for them to prepare my order, but I timed the wait to be approximately 20 minutes before the older server approached me with a takeout bag. I hadn't paid up to this point, so a part of me thought that an unethical customer could just snatch the order from her hands and run out. Of course, I'd never do such a thing, but she did instruct me to go up to the front to pay. Wouldn't it have been easier to just pay up front instead of asking me to take a seat at a table? I guess they like to do things the long way. When she rang me up, she did specify I had to be wearing "Long Beach", which was clearly present on my shirt, and so I had to point it out. I almost thought she was going to say "not good enough", but luckily, she still honored the 908 Day pricing. When I got home, I saw the pasta came in an aluminum pie tin with a plastic cover, and a piece of garlic bread was wrapped in aluminum foil. However, they didn't include utensils?! Surely, they could have included at least a fork, don't you think? The portion size seemed quite small for $24, but reasonable for $9.08 + tax. However, I counted only 5 pieces of shrimp in the pasta; I thought there would have been a few more for that price point, but at least the shrimp was peeled. The pasta was cooked al dente, and that creamy chipotle sauce was packed with so much flavor that I believe they added too much salt to the sauce. Garlic bread was good too, especially when I used it to scoop up the remaining sauce on the pie tin after I finished the pasta. Even though I enjoyed the pasta, I didn't enjoy my overall experience enough to give a 4th star. I'd consider a return visit for 908 Day next year if they offer the same deal, but not so much if I have to pay full price. read more

I have not been here in 3 years. This is my 2026 review. Went here today for Taco Tuesday. Waited about 10 minutes for our waitress to take our order. Ordered everything all at once since the worker was playing cashier, waiter and host. It started to get busy so I did not want to wait any longer then I had to. Ordered a Margarita, Michelada, 7 Carne Asada Tacos, 6 El Pastor Tacos and 2 potato tacos. We were served Chips and Salsa as we waited. Our drinks arrived about 10 to 15 mins later and Tacos arrived 10 minutes after that. The Carne Asada was just ok. It was rather over cooked. The al pastor was better then the Carne asada. Potato tacos could of used some more flavor. So it was a hit and miss on the taste of the tacos being served. The salsa was tasty along with the chips that tasted fresh. The service was very slow. I am not knocking on our waitress. She was trying as the place started to fill up. She stayed calm as more customers started to come in. By the time we were done eating, about an hour or so later.. she finally received some help. I was relieved for her. Overall, this is a mom and pops restaurant. A family affair with their own children working in this restaurant. I wasn't to harsh on the service because I understood the pressure she was going through. Netti who was our server, waitress and host did her best to accommodate us. I really recommend staff management to support Taco Tuesdays accordingly. Lucky alot of the people in the restaurant were very patient with the service being provided. They could use some work on this subject I recommend supporting this family restaurant. I will try to order other things on the menu next time. read more

I've seen and heard so much about this cute hole-in-the-wall spot, but words can't describe how disappointed I was. I asked the person on the phone what their best seller was, and she confidently recommended the chilaquiles. I asked if they could make it spicy, and she assured me they could...it wasn't! I also added protein (carne asada), and she mentioned there would be an extra charge of $10, I just didn't know the final cost until after ($30ish). I don't mind paying for great taste and quality, but this was, unfortunately, a bit of a tough bite to swallow when it came to the meat portion size. The real kicker? I thought maybe there was more hiding under the egg... yolk's on me...there wasn't! The sauce tasted like it came straight out of a can (green sauce), and it didn't have that fresh, homemade flavor I was hoping for. The dish itself was very soggy, which just didn't hit the mark for me. We all have different taste buds, so I still encourage others to try it for themselves, but this dish definitely didn't crack the code for me. read more

I have been going to Tony's off and on since they opened. Mostly for their breakfast and have always been happy with everything and usually coming home with leftovers. I had dinner there the other week with a friend and they have added new items to the dinner menu. We tried the fried zucchini appetizer which was great! Then we both got the Bixby pasta dish and it was fantastic!!! And very filling! We brought our own wine and the corkage fee was $15. Service was professional and the atmosphere was relaxing. Close by so walking to it is nice especially if the weather cooperates. I will be going back for dinner soon to try something else. read more

I can't say it was necessarily bad but it wasnt that good either. I want to chalk it up to me coming right before they close. I ate a Philly cheese steak sandwich and fries. It mostly tasted like a bell pepper sandwich. Skimpy on the meat, skimpy on the cheese. Fries were seasoned bland if that's possible. Didn't like the drink but that could be just a me thing. Try at your own risk. It's very beautiful inside. It was a little dark in there and some of the lights were actually off when I entered. The fried zucchini were fresh, succulent and crunchy. Honestly, walking by this place you would not be sure what to expect. Mexican food and lasagna tapered on the front window!? Surely making everything can't be good right? Boy was I wrong, and I can see why this is a bit of a hidden gem in the area. It's not your typical trendy American diner, but they have great food and fits all kinds of things you might be feeling. I like that they serve breakfast all through the lunch hour, so you can have your french toast even in the early afternoon. I got the chicken caesar wrap which was pretty solid; the chicken was really flavorful and there was a lot of it. It's one of those caesar wraps that is a little lighter on the dressing, so you might need to ask for more if you prefer more. But, the surprising standout was the fried zucchini you get on the side. It is absolutely fantastic. It's served with ranch but tastes great on its own. Comes out hot and fresh, basically like zucchini fries. Would highly recommended selecting as your side. One of us also got the loaded nachos which honestly is enough for like 3 people to share. This was also pretty yummy, with the chips clearly being fried fresh. Service was great--very friendly, food came out pretty fast. There was no wait for a weekday lunch. The inside is pretty cute and you wouldn't really be able to tell from the outside, with a nice mural on the wall. It almost gives a "fine dining meets casual" type of vibe. Unfortunately certain dinner items were not available for the breakfast/lunch hours (e.g. the pasta which many people seem to like), so keep that in mind! The place is clean, and you can sit wherever you want. The waitress was very pleasant, and I loved that the orange juice was freshly squeezed! Their menu has a lot of variety--I wanted to try the French toast but opted for the chilaquiles instead. They were alright--too much sauce, and the sauce was a bit bitter (a little heavy on the tomatillo). The eggs were perfect, though, and the plate came out hot, which I appreciated. I love Tony's, they have potatoes which they cook in olive oil that are well portioned, delicious, and very reasonably priced at $6.63 including tax. As someone with extreme food limitations, I appreciate them offering fresh food with alternate oils. We noticed this restaurant on yelp and were curious since it was close by! We decided to try it and were impressed with how good the food turned out for breakfast. My husband was very impressed with the French toast because the bread used had infused cinnamon so it gave it a different flavor than traditional French toast. It felt like I went to Mexico for a second. I ordered the green chilaquiles and I was happy with my selection! I prefer savory breakfast than a sweet breakfast like pancakes etc. It looked like the restaurant was family operated but I didn't get to ask. They came around to check on us often, and asked if I wanted more coffee. I had added carne asada (steak) to it since it was an option. I should have done without it because I didn't like how it was marinated. The restaurant had cute wall murals that reminded me of pueblitos in Mexico. Tony's has been an important part of the Bixby Knolls neighborhood since it opened. Family run, the chef brings great skill and care to all of their offerings. The menu is not huge, but there are a nice variety of items: Italian dishes, burgers, Mexican dishes, desserts, and a collection of rotating specials. I know it's probably boring, but I really love their soft tacos. I usually get one chicken, one asada, and one al pastor. I must confess that, in general, if there's al pastor on the menu, that's what I'll get, but their chicken is insanely delicious. I am not sure what they do, but the chunks are moist and beautifully seasoned. Their al pastor is deeply flavorful. Their asada is tender and beefy. The portions are generous, and I struggle with finishing all three. (Don't worry. I do.) I also love their salsa verde, which is tangy and fresh, with just a little heat. Now, if I'm feeling ambitious, I'll order churros for dessert. They're about 6" long, and 6 to an order, served with a thick chocolate dipping sauce. (You can order them with ice cream, too, for an additional charge.) I did not finish all six, and took the rest to go. The service is friendly and, if you go there more than once, they'll probably remember you. The ambience is lovely, both casual and welcoming, with bright colors and other festive touches. Street parking is generally available, but arrive early so you can find a spot. read more

We stopped at this quaint little spot, believe it or not, while on the way to eat at another restaurant a few doors down lol. I had a sudden urge to try something new and was glad I did. Tony's claims to represent Italian and Mexican food. As it was my first meal of the day, I opted for breakfast. The chilaquiles were pretty good. I ordered it with the green sauce (red is also offered). I appreciate that it comes with 2 eggs. Many places only serve it with one leaving me a bit unsatisfied. The eggs were perfectly over easy and the rice/beans were pretty good. I didn't try the omelette but my husband really liked it. And by the way it was a chicken chile verde. The potatoes were yummy as was the pancake (not pictured). We also ordered a side of sausage which was sliced down the middle and had a sage or herby flavor to it. What a great find of a wonderful Mom & Pop restaurant - and well deserving of their 4.7 stars! Also please note that they close at 8:00 so come earlier but it wasn't crowded at all (but it should be!) I got the Lasagna ($16) and it was fantastic - and the portion is very large so I definitely felt satisfied. It also came with a generous salad. I got Caesar and it was really good & came with cucumbers & cherry tomatoes. My girlfriend got the Chicken Marsala ($20) with garlic mashed potatoes and some of the best asparagus I've ever had! (You don't hear that too often do you?) ...but they had char marks on it and was also sautéed so nice. Chicken Marsala also comes with a generous salad. We finished off this delicious dinner with Peach Cobbler a-la-mode ($10). It was large with 2 scoops of delicious, creamy vanilla ice cream and it was fantastic - a great way to wrap up this beautiful meal! read more

I went in here on a weekend at about 10 am maybe. The place was empty, it seemed everyone was at Meemas which I tried once and I didn't like. The place is simple but has a cute wall with Italian inspired doors and windows painted on. We were quickly seated and helped. I ordered the Hobo Omelette which was really tasty. The combination of bacon and grilled onion reminded me of an LA street hot dog in a way. Another thing I loved about this place is that they offered fresh salsa that was actually pretty good.
