After having some lunch down the block I insisted my friends and I walk to Holey Grail Donuts! We all loved our donut choices and I also ordered an iced vanilla latte. They accidentally made two and let me keep it so I had it to my friend. I do wish the coffees came in a larger size so I had to gracefully sip instead of chug my iced coffee haha. I ordered the special donut called the Black Sabbath. It had black sesame and brulee banana. And I had to get a chocolate one too. So it's come out nice and hot and fresh. Inside is very cozy with some cool tunes playing from their record player.

Wow! I'd never thought to try a taro based donut but it's a crazy combination. The texture is so packed but moist and the flavors really come through this way. For parking, I'd recommend trying to find street parking. Would def go back!

From the start, I could've told you that this place was not gonna succeed. Their donuts were way too expensive and way too small for the price that they were charging hopefully that's something better will be there.

It was my first time here and these are the best donuts I've ever had! Service was super fast and the donuts were so fresh! It's a very cute spot to grab coffee and eat donuts!

Really excited to see Holey Grail has arrived in Long Beach! I first tried their donuts in Honolulu, and these mini treats are just as amazing. Each one is packed with flavor, making you wish you had ordered a dozen instead of just one or two. Given their size, I'd recommend two donuts per person. They bake everything fresh to order and offer a wide variety of flavors, and the staff is welcoming and helpful when recommending what to try. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, it's also a great spot to work remotely or catch up on emails. Also make sure to check out their cute merch items when you're waiting on your order!

Made fresh while you wait, absolutely warm and wonderful! First time bring my husband to Holey Grail and he was very happy with the donuts and coffee. He got his usual black drip.amd I ordered a Chai Tea Latte. For donuts, we ordered four and shared. We ordered the Original Sin (Classic), Chocolate Crunch (Classic), Wild Guava (Seasonal), and Peanut Butter Cup (Seasonal). All wete excellent! My husband's favorite waa the Wild Guava. For me, they were all too good for a favorite! Tasting Box section on the menu are their seasonal donuts. This changes monthly! I have never had one repeat yet! Service is always friendly and helpful! Each visit I am more impressed with their donuts!

Super cute donut shop on second street! But what sets them apart from the res?! these donuts are made with taro and fried in coconut oil! Vegan and so delicious. Holey Grail originated from HI and brought over some delicious treats. All are made to order. What changes on each type of donut are the glazes and toppings. My first time trying and I went for the wild guava with edible flowers. When ready, I was confused looking for the wild guava in the box my sister ordered since I didn't see any with edible flowers. Inquired at the counter and the guy stated they had run out of flowers. It would be nice if I had been told beforehand... I may have ordered another flavored donut. Nevertheless, we all sat at a cool table looking outward to second street and sampled a couple of flavors.

My go-to donut spot, Holey Grail makes you feel a little bit better indulging in an "unhealthy" treat. At first it does taste way different than your usual donut but you get used to it, the dough is made of taro and cacao then fried in coconut oil! Holey Grail really takes pride in their ingredients used and its mostly sourced from Hawaii! When you order, they make the donuts fresh to order so it takes around 5-10 minutes for your donuts to be made. I recommend eating them right away and it will literally melt in your mouth. There is a decent amount of seating inside and outside to relax and wait for your donuts. As for the donuts itself, I recommend getting the tasting box to get a flavor you really like. I've tried the Cosmic Churro which tastes like your average churro, Lilokai which was sweet and just the right amount of tart, Pandan was pretty good and their hot singles and Original Sin are good options too, you can't go wrong. My ultimate favorite is their Miso Honey though, that one is outrageously good. Shoutout Robby for holding the store down too!

Such amazing, fresh, melt in your mouth delicious donuts!! I absolutely love this place. Everyone who works at this location is so kind and sweet and helpful. The donuts are freshly made and so unique, delicious with tons of exciting flavors and rotating/seasonal options as well! The coffee and chai here is also so delicious. There are some seating options both outside and inside if you want to enjoy your donut and coffee at the shop while people watching on 2nd st. Absolutely love this place!!

Taro based donuts! Each donut is made to order and dipped individually by hand. Very interesting process of making them and fun names : original sin, hot single, PB cup, Hail Mary and lilikoi. You can get an assortment box from 4 pieces to a dozen. Friendly and patient service: it's not easy deciding which one to NOT get. Also got iced Hawaiian vanilla latte and and iced Hawaiian chocolate drink. One bathroom but no changing table for infants or toddlers. Lot of merchandise including coffee beans and shirts, bags, mugs, hats etc... Open air seating but our group took up the one long table (10 adults). Many more stools available. I really enjoyed the lilikoi or passion fruit donut. You can get a pack of donut holes dipped in one flavor I suppose.

Delicious donuts made of taro! I'd say texture-wise, they feel like a hybrid of cake and mochi donuts. They are definitely unique so you ought to try them for yourself! I loved the donuts but I'm not a big fan of their coffee and matcha drinks because they are dairy-free and use macadamia nut milk and I do not like the taste of macadamia nut milk combined with coffee or matcha. It just doesn't work for me. I'll go back for the donuts but I'll skip the beverages..

I swear we've seen this movie before but the grail is something you don't have to sacrifice your limbs for. It does hurt the wallet though when you realize the box and portion is the size of said wallet. Hey it was good though! I think I'd have to sacrifice something just to get a spot around Belmont Shores though. Obviously it's not a bakery issue but who would've thought an 11AM visit on a Tuesday would still compel finding parking in a residential neighborhood 2 blocks away. The takeaway here though; nothing feels better after walking a bit in the blazing sun when the place literally slaps you with immediate AC and a cool fan. ‍‍ The vibe and service matches each other perfectly which is amazing to me; vibrant but chill, loud in appearance but classy in execution and approachable. What surprised even more is that the cashier actually knew what the food profiles of each little donut provided. Expertise even though she said she was only working there for a month or two? Slay girl. Especially when I heard the menu changes almost every week. Now the prices don't seem off-putting at first considering we're entering this establishment with an expectation of what a donut looks like both in appearance and size. Let alone I never would've expected that they glaze, style and the donuts on the spot when you order it. All that frosting caking up a fresh pillow of a donut But guys/gals... that expectation caught me by surprise. The sizes between the price to portion is... sub. I want to say it has something to do with the taro-based dough they used. But when I got my box of what was four donuts thinking there was only two until I opened the box; Miso Honey (funny enough miso and honey do go together), Food of the Gods (looked plain but those cacao nibs were awesome), Pandan Paradise (pandan, mango and passionfruit? Yo chill) and Tropical Swirl (swirl of strawber-SWEET, it was too sweet). I put these in order of favorites, starting with my most favorite. Premium flavors but definitely something for an occasion than a frequent visit.

This is one of my favorite new places. Donuts are made per order so very fresh and presentation is excellent. I'm big on customer services so the intentional connection with us was great. The vibes were vibing here. It wasn't busy when we arrived so we got our donuts right away. As someone who isn't big on sweets this is now my new favorite dessert place. All of the donuts we got were so delicious. The wild guave licking fingers good. The Rick Martinez the layers of flavors was exceptional. This is the second time I've got the reincarnated donut and I'm so happy about it!

I ordered several donuts and specifically asked the employee whether the specialty donuts counted toward a dozen. She told me that I would "just pay the difference," but never explained that ordering by the dozen would have actually been cheaper or that I was essentially paying for a dozen but only got 10 donuts. After I paid in cash and even tipped her, she casually told me, "Oh, you could've gotten two free donuts." I asked if I could still get the two donuts since I had already paid enough to qualify, and she responded, "maybe next time." That response was incredibly frustrating and honestly poor customer service. If I already paid enough to qualify for the dozen pricing, why wouldn't the employee explain it beforehand or simply honor it when I asked immediately afterward? Instead, I was told only after the transaction was complete, and then denied the items anyway. It felt misleading, unhelpful, and unnecessarily petty over two donuts. Small businesses survive on repeat local customers and goodwill, and this experience completely lost mine. There won't be a next time.

At Long Beach's Sweet Retreat Donuts, that meant limited-edition experimental donut varieties (mostly with tropical flavor profiles), as well as a reliable vegan donut lineup. Clearly, Sweet Retreat has been doing something right, as it's been a Pacific Coast Highway favorite for a decade. Over the years, it has garnered recognition from plenty of local news outlets, from Eater LA to LAist. The cramped strip mall is more eye-catching for its reptile supply store rather than its donut shop. Inside the shop, the expansive, donut-themed cartoon mural to the right immediately makes a statement. Houseplants are plentiful across the otherwise undecorated, whitewashed walls. Donuts are organized on trays by price, with the charge doodled directly onto the glass with a white marker. Ambient noise from the television is drowned out by chattering customers and the buzzing coffee machine. During the summer months, the AC-less shop feels tropically balmy. My partner and I arrived at Sweet Retreat late one Sunday morning, and the shop still boasted a steady stream of customers. By the time of our visit, the remaining selection was regrettably slim -- beyond the standard fare, the most unique donuts sported either candy coating or tropical frosting. We opted for a hibiscus-frosted raised donut and an apple fritter. The former had an excellent donut base, and the hibiscus frosting was floral and tropical (albiet I would have enjoyed a more punchy flavor). Meanwhile, the apple fritter fell on the cinnamon-y side, heavily doused in glaze so that each bite (even the edges) melted in your mouth; Sweet Retreat's rendition was one of my favorites in Greater LA. Our Vietnamese iced coffee was strong and sugary, but nothing more memorable than peer coffeeshops. The service was efficient, and our two donuts cost a reasonable $5 (even frill-free mom-and-pop shops charge in this range nowadays). The selection was sorely lacking, but Sweet Retreat more than made up for that with its high quality and reasonable prices. This bakery may not warrant a dedicated trip out of the way, but it is sure to deliver a satisfying treat if you're already in the neighborhood.

I'm unclear what occurred before I got there, but kept my head down and quickly parked and scurried inside. The entrance had cardboard on the ground laid out like some sort of Oscar the Grouch red carpet. The cinnamon roll was for the hubby. Each donut brought it's own kinda flavor to the table. I intentionally went in to buy 2 donuts but left with 4 paying at $22.00 total Knead is a small location with one table inside no bathrooms available. Plenty parking that's for sure. Will I be back yes but I will not be a regular. I see sweets I gain weight. That's with most things.
