I cheated on my local donut place and here's why! I have searched all over for a decent Green Thai tea and only found a few places that were great, this time I wanted to try it out at Simone's Donuts since I heard great reviews about them. Located in a a small plaza in Long Beach, this little shop has so much to offer! Stacks of ramen loaded high with an array of mouthwatering donuts. We came here for one thing and we order a lot more! The Thai green tea was amazing with that floral note I was looking for, my partner enjoyed their regular Thai tea. How we, the donuts were on the ok side, we may be biased because we are faithful to our local donut shop but this place will hit when you're craving something sweet. We also ordered their cronut holes which looked great, however it was interesting to say the least, there was an odd taste to the donut glaze (maybe it's their signature flavor) but it tasted almost like hard candy..idk how to really explain it lol. But overall sweet for us, maybe next time we would pair it with a black coffee to off set the sweetness from the cronuts. read more

The blueberry is always my absolute favorite and we got a cinnamon sugar cronut (luxurious textures, would be in Louis Vuitton cafe) and the crumb. These donuts are so good! We were in the Long Beach area and I was craving some good old fashion donuts. I looked in the area and saw that these had some highly rated old fashion donuts which were right up my alley. When we arrived here we saw a lot of people here on the Saturday morning. This got us excited cause big crowds usually mean good food and luckily they were quick to serve here so we didn't have to wait long. We got 2 old fashion donuts and a cronut and they were both amazing. The cronuts were some of the best I have had in recent memory and same with the old fashion. The price for these donuts were also very reasonable too. Another positive is that they're open 24 hours so you can have your donut needs met 24 hours of the day. 'm a local customer and have patronized this donut shop before, but after this experience, I won't be returning. I ordered several donuts and specifically asked the employee whether the specialty donuts counted toward a dozen. She told me that I would "just pay the difference," but never explained that ordering by the dozen would have actually been cheaper or that I was essentially paying for a dozen but only got 10 donuts. After I paid in cash and even tipped her, she casually told me, "Oh, you could've gotten two free donuts." I asked if I could still get the two donuts since I had already paid enough to qualify, and she responded, "maybe next time." That response was incredibly frustrating and honestly poor customer service. If I already paid enough to qualify for the dozen pricing, why wouldn't the employee explain it beforehand or simply honor it when I asked immediately afterward? Instead, I was told only after the transaction was complete, and then denied the items anyway. It felt misleading, unhelpful, and unnecessarily petty over two donuts. After speaking to the owners' daughter, I was happy to learn that this family-run business is Thai-Cambodian and their in-laws run the Newport location. Service was quick, however the young cashier wearing a mask filled my entire cup to the brim with ice and I got maybe a few sips of actual drink. On top of that the tea tasted off as it was watered down with half and half! It was super light and barely green. I don't know if he was having a bad day to BS my drink like that but he needs to work on that. $5 for a cup of just ice and cream was ridiculous and disappointing. Our dog was ill and we were at LBC Vets urgent care nearby. By the time we got out, we had to go to a 24 hour spot to fulfill our sweet teeth. We saw that Simone's was the closest donut shop with a high rating, many reviews, and also Cambodian owned/operated. Done deal. We decided to get a dozen, and we were surprised at the nice selection they still had in the wee hours of the night. When BB asked for a cream filled, they said they can take the chocolate bars and fill them with cream on the spot for an extra charge. So we got 2 of those. My favorite is glazed buttermilk and maple bars. The blueberry donuts were fresh out of the fryer and still warm! These were some of the best donuts I have ever had, and I have had a LOT of donuts over the decades. Large shared parking lot, friendly service, and prices were great. It was something like 17 before the extra charge for cream filled. My mom even commented on how good they were, and she is very particular about all food at this point.
