Came here scrounging for donuts one night around 8:30pm and this was the only place open. I didn't know what to expect but it sure hit the spot. They had a nice selection to choose from and they were nice and fluffy.

The young lady was so helpful and the donuts were so fresh.we came around 10:30 or so on a weekday and were very empty and got a few extra donuts and donut holes

This donut shop has been around forever, since I was a kid. I'm sure I've had them before in the past, but I don't recall how I felt about them. Today on a walk with my dad and daughter we popped in for some donuts. I noticed immediately that they sell lottery tickets, milkshakes and ice cream as well. They also advertise a sandwich menu that looks delicious. I'll have to stop by and try they turkey and cheese on a croissant. Today we grabbed half a dozen: maple bar, chocolate twist, blueberry donut, old-fashioned, buttermilk and a chocolate glazed with sprinkles. I was a bit disappointed with the blueberry one. I didn't taste any blueberry even though it did have visible specs, and it tasted like they may have over-salted that batter a bit. The rest of the donuts were delicious. My favorite was the buttermilk! I never noticed the difference between that one and the old-fashioned, I usually order one or the other interchangeably, but if I were to choose my favorite based on this encounter, the buttermilk wins, hands down. My daughter enjoyed her sprinkle donut and my dad enjoyed his maple bar. Will come back for sure. Oh yeah, and they're open 24/7 AND have a drive thru.

As always special thanks to Helen for always making my visit very enjoyable. The donuts and coffee are excellent. The cleanliness that is maintained here is one the reasons why I continue to return.

CASH ONLY! It's time to talk about late-night donuts! Yes, I arrived late, but it was on purpose. When a donut shop stays open late at night, I always want to check it out. After dinner, I stopped by Sunrise Donuts. Rather than experimenting with other flavors, I bought only three classics. However, I was unable to get a chocolate glaze donut. Upon arriving a little before 830, I was surprised to see that there was a small line. It took just a few minutes to place my order for 2 glazes and a blueberry - my total was $4 plus tip. That's what I'm waiting for when a donut place is open late. I found the selection to be impressive even so late at night. Donut shops tend to have this amount of sales when they first open. In addition, they taste freshly baked. You should take a look at the layers in the doughnut. You'll love how fluffy and light they are. I would like to point out that this glazed donut isn't too sweet. An excellent balance of sweetness without being overpowering. When I opened the bag, it smelled like donuts even though the shop itself did not. It's worth a visit if you get the chance. They are going out of your way classic donuts, even if you don't get a chance to try them. Whether it's 6am or 11pm, you won't be disappointed. There are so many new gimmicky places popping up that it is very refreshing to see one that focuses on the classics and excels at them. They have a drive-through and a back parking area. Other items are also sold, but I didn't pay much attention to them.

I got a jelly donut and an apple fritter on my way to the Queen Mary tour. I also got a lotto ticket as that's what it seems everybody is doing. a good serviceable donut shop. Oh, I also got a regular cup of coffee which was good.

It's a great place for one thing they never close 7/24/365 there's also a drive through. I'll one day purchase my winning lottery ticket, keeping hope alive for the lottery....

A very welcoming vibe upon entry, we were greeted by a friendly couple who answered our questions about popular drink flavors. We decided to go with a Hot Cinnamon Dulce Latte and an Iced Blueberry Lavender Latte. While waiting, there were plenty of chairs, tables, a comfy couch and even a bar area to sit and relax. Tons of board games, books and wonderfully mellow music helps make the experience feel comforting and inviting. Our drinks were prepared quickly and shouted at the coffee bar for pickup. The presentation was great, but the flavors, out of this world! The Cinnamon Dulce Latte was OUTSTANDING. So good, in fact, that my girlfriend stole it from me! Not to worry, her Blueberry Lavender Latte was also top-notch, with a smooth, not-to-sweet flavor combination. Friendly staff (which comes with occasional karaoke renditions from the Bluetooth speakers), a chill vibe and outstanding drinks make this a top spot in the area for hardcore coffee lovers. Check them out!

Ordered and it didn't take long at all to get it. Did they even add espresso? Who knows because the latte was weak. It barely had any hint of coffee. I honestly have to say these were some of the best donuts I've ever had. The texture was incredible. The outside had this light, delicate crunch while the inside stayed soft and fresh. The chocolate glaze had excellent flavor and wasn't overly sweet or artificial tasting like a lot of donut shops. I also ordered the PB&J donut and happily waited in the parking lot for about 20 minutes while they made it fresh. Completely worth the wait. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and really well made. Overall, easily a 9.5/10 for me. Definitely coming back.

At Long Beach's Sweet Retreat Donuts, that meant limited-edition experimental donut varieties (mostly with tropical flavor profiles), as well as a reliable vegan donut lineup. Clearly, Sweet Retreat has been doing something right, as it's been a Pacific Coast Highway favorite for a decade. Over the years, it has garnered recognition from plenty of local news outlets, from Eater LA to LAist. The cramped strip mall is more eye-catching for its reptile supply store rather than its donut shop. Inside the shop, the expansive, donut-themed cartoon mural to the right immediately makes a statement. Houseplants are plentiful across the otherwise undecorated, whitewashed walls. Donuts are organized on trays by price, with the charge doodled directly onto the glass with a white marker. Ambient noise from the television is drowned out by chattering customers and the buzzing coffee machine. During the summer months, the AC-less shop feels tropically balmy. My partner and I arrived at Sweet Retreat late one Sunday morning, and the shop still boasted a steady stream of customers. By the time of our visit, the remaining selection was regrettably slim -- beyond the standard fare, the most unique donuts sported either candy coating or tropical frosting. We opted for a hibiscus-frosted raised donut and an apple fritter. The former had an excellent donut base, and the hibiscus frosting was floral and tropical (albiet I would have enjoyed a more punchy flavor). Meanwhile, the apple fritter fell on the cinnamon-y side, heavily doused in glaze so that each bite (even the edges) melted in your mouth; Sweet Retreat's rendition was one of my favorites in Greater LA. Our Vietnamese iced coffee was strong and sugary, but nothing more memorable than peer coffeeshops. The service was efficient, and our two donuts cost a reasonable $5 (even frill-free mom-and-pop shops charge in this range nowadays). The selection was sorely lacking, but Sweet Retreat more than made up for that with its high quality and reasonable prices. This bakery may not warrant a dedicated trip out of the way, but it is sure to deliver a satisfying treat if you're already in the neighborhood.

I left this place running for my car…read more The location is in a rough area of town, so while the donuts were edible, I felt compelled to issue a quick heads up warning for any unsuspecting newcomers. As I entered the parking lot I witnessed a lady hanging out of the window of a car missing a rear bumper, cursing at a minivan that looked like it had recently been involved in a series of hit-and-run crimes. I'm unclear what occurred before I got there, but kept my head down and quickly parked and scurried inside. The entrance had cardboard on the ground laid out like some sort of Oscar the Grouch red carpet. There were two people sitting at the middle two tables with portable shopping carts filled with assorted belongings. The interior matched the rest of neighborhood with random stuff laid out on counter tops, and a general dirty feeling that made me consider whether I wanted to buy food here, but I was already inside. There was a single woman working the counter. She was polite and matter of fact. I had promised my kids donuts, so I ordered my box to go. While she used appropriate tongs to put them in the box, she didn't bother to fully close or seal the box. Just looking to get out of there as quickly as possible, I headed immediately back to my car but was followed by an unknown man shouting at me asking if I could spare a dollar. I quickly fidgeted for my keys and pulled the door closed and locked it behind me. This was at 9am. I cannot imagine this place late at night. The donuts were basic and not overly sweet, more of a fried bread. My kids ate a few bites of each but it wasn't worth the stress of getting them.

The owner Huey and his staff were super friendly and welcoming, which always makes a difference. The Vietnamese coffee was one of my favorites. Strong, smooth, and customizable so you can adjust it to your sweetness level or add toppings. The boba milk tea was perfect! Not too sweet, just right, which I appreciate because a lot of places overdo it. The donuts and pocket ham croissant were delicious, and they had great specials going on too. I can definitely say I did just that, not knowing what to try first. As a unit, we love bananas, bacon, and strawberries. So with that, I solely ordered their maple and bacon, banana cream, strawberry shortcake, and a cinnamon roll. Once we got home, we sat down and tried all 4 donuts, taking a bite of each one. The banana and cream was a 10. I devoured the whole donut, not leaving anything for anyone else.tfhe maple bacon did quite do it for me nor did the strawberry shortcake.
