Picture this: You're getting on a cruise ship in 4 hours, but the hotel you're staying at doesn't have a breakfast buffet. Besides, for the next (insert the duration of your cruise here) days you'll be eating at the buffet a least once a day. No need to start Buffeting it up before you step foot on the Lido deck. That's what brought us to 5th Ave Bagelry. Located less than 1/2 mile from our hotel, it was an easy walk down the surprisingly un-busy streets of Long Beach, CA at 9:00 on a Thursday morning. 5th Ave Bagelry has A LOT of varieties of bagels. To put a number to it, about 25 different varieties of bagels, all made fresh on site daily. Add to that, 8 different flavours of cream cheese and you've got nearly endless bagel-and-cream-cheese options. To be fair, you're not limited to bagel & cream cheese. They also offer breakfast bagel sandwiches and non-breakfast bagel sandwiches and a few specialty items. Even though it was 9:00 in the morning I was tempted to try a pizza bagel but I resisted. The siren song of a jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese wins out every time. (This is a proven statistic. Just ask me.) They also offer an endless variety of coffees in just about every possible fashion (latte, espresso, iced, iced blended). Smoothies, juices, and soft drinks round out a very impressive selection of offerings. The staff at 5th Ave Bagelry appeared to be very focused. While they weren't swamped when we visited, they did have a steady influx of customers. It's an order-at-the-counter-and-we'll-call-your-number-when-it's-ready arrangement which seems to work well for them. All food is delivered in a paper bag. Our food delivery was about 10 minutes and everything was hot and accurate. My iced vanilla latte was exactly the go-juice I needed to jump start embarkation day. My jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese? Chef's kiss. I love jalapeño bagels that present a little spicy heat. The jalapeño cream cheese managed to round out my "Jim loves spicy food for breakfast" life choices. During our roughly 1/2 hour there I didn't see anyone come out from behind the counter to tidy up the dining room, which was needed. I'm assuming they had a pretty intense breakfast rush and just hadn't fully recovered yet, as one of the two trash bins was full. In a perfect world I'd be able to visit enough to try all of the bagels, but home isn't in Long Beach. read more

Came to pine Ave for breakfast and saw this place and from all the signs outside decided to give it a try. I thought it was going to be pricy but no! It's so well priced. We wanted to try the simpler stuff on the menu. We got the just egg and sausage in a plain bagel and just egg and cheese and sausage on a Jalapeño bagel. I can't remember the last time we paid around $20 for a breakfast meal for two. They were both tasty but needed salt hot sauce and ketchup to be added. The best part is they have all this out for you to grab. Once we added it, it was so good. The portion size for the price is incredible. No way did I think I would pay 6.99 for a big bagel, a large piece of egg and 2 pieces of sausage. It was such a great price. Now I am so excited to come and try others. But the prices do jump nearly double, but I think it will be worth it. Check out the menu pics I added to see the prices. It's hard to hear inside. We sat inside to eat since it was very clean and well maintained. They brought us our bagels but I think that was because we forgot to get up from being called. Again it was hard to hear but when the food came out it was all worth it! The jalapeño bagel did not shine as much. It tasted like a plain bagel with no spice even from the bits of jalapeños. This made me wonder if their sweet bagels are different. They recommend the Asiago bagel so maybe I'll try that for the next savory option. Honestly I don't know when they make the bagels but we came around 11am, try coming earlier and maybe the bagels will be fresher. By noon the line picked up, but it never got as busy as other stores around. I'm excited to come back and try the omelet sandwiches and other bagels! read more

The spot is located in the heart of downtown Long Beach so find street parking which you can pay via their apps Passport Parking or find parking in one of their public parking structures where the first two hours are free. This place allows you to customize your own bagel. I came here craving an onion bagel with strawberry cream cheese, turkey, and tomato and honestly it was weak. My friend ordered one of their sandwich items on an everything bagel and both these bagels costed us $27 which is insane. It's been awhile since I bought a bagel at a shop like this before. My friends sandwich is pretty good loaded with flavor. It was a bit hot inside and the guy that took care of us was really nice but one of the ladies was kind of rude. I ordered the vietnamese iced coffee and the BEC sandwich on the asiago bagel. I was very excited to try this spot because of the good reviews, however, it was a HUGE letdown and waste of $20. The vietnamese coffee was SO BITTER. No kind of sweetener at all. Plus for $8 and i'm pretty sure this is just the packet kind, I'd rather go to Da Vien and get the authentic kind On to the bagel sandwich. I always order the asiago bagel because i love the flavor of the cheese. My complaint is that i had no idea their asiago bagel isnt even fully asiago. It's actually a Poppyseed asiago bagel. I hate poppyseeds, so if i would've known this prior to ordering online, I wouldn't have ordered it. You can't even taste the asiago in this bagel!! You can't tell it's just sprinkled on top vs mixed into it as well. Overall, highly disappointed with every single thing i've ordered and i won't be returning. I only gave it 2 stars because of the service of the 2 young ladies and it took me 45 mins to eat my bagel and it was still warm. read more

My office is very close to this spot so we order from here often. You can pay for street parking, but I just walk from my office. It's very tiny and quaint inside. I'll start with the positives-I love the bagels and the lox with the works is one of my fave that I've ordered anywhere! On the less positive side-they have never actually gotten an order correct. We have only five in the office and each time we're either missing complete orders (that were paid for), or the orders are not correct. We also very simple things-like a toasted bagel with a flavored cream cheese, and it is still somehow often wrong. With that said, I'd just recommend checking your order before you leave to ensure it's correct. My boss has not learned this and has to go back each time to get it fixed. Vanilla Chai Latte 100/10 - my favorite chai, definitely in the top three - leans more on the sweeter side but can still taste the spice from the chai - creamy - amazing ice - great price for the size 8. Denver Omelette Bagel 10/10 - everything inside is a classic combo and very yummy - half will get you full - added honey walnut cream cheese! Muffins 10/10 - both muffins were very moist and full of flavor - baked in house This is a must try bagel shop in Downtown LB! Their prices are fair for the proportion you receive. The bagels here are amazing, you can't go wrong with any of their flavors. They have a large variety of different bagels to choose from and cream cheeses as well! The combinations are endless. Their chai is very good and definitely one of the best chais I've had. Their muffins are super moist and make for a great dessert at the end. You will not be leg down but their food. Very good bagels and yummy breakfast sandwiches. I strolled in one morning while I was hanging out on Pine for a parade. I hadn't had breakfast, and this was one of the closest places near to where my mom and I were standing. I ordered a bagel sandwich on an everything bagel. The contents were a veggie omelet which comes with cheese, spinach and mushrooms. I asked for no spinach. I accompanied this with their iced coffee, half sweet. It was all very delicious. Only complaint was that my breakfast sandwich was way too hot for way too long. It was hard to hold in my hands with it being wrapped in foil, and even harder to enjoy. Maybe ideal for pickup orders from food delivery drivers. Yes, I ordered through an app, but to pick it up myself. More recently, I ordered a variety baker's dozen with cream cheese to bring to the office. Everyone that had one seemed to enjoy all the bagels and the shmear. Wonderful bagel shop near the Long Beach Convention Center. Closest thing I've found to New York style bagels on the west coast. They have a ton to choose from but be aware they sell out fast! The staff is very nice and the restaurant is always kept clean with tons of seating. Make sure to check out their coffee as well. read more

I've never heard of this place until today, first timer! I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on a jalapeño bagel and it was very good. They had so many food options and bagel selections so take a look at their menu online before ordering. I ordered an iced vanilla latte as well. It wasn't too bad but they use the generic syrups from the grocery store so it wasn't that special. Maybe their blended drinks would be better. The cup was hot on the bottom when I grabbed it and as an ex-barista, this is a no no. However, I added some more creamer and it was drinkable after that. If you're a coffee lover I don't think you'd care for the espresso from here but I would love to try more things from here. Service was super fast as well! Paid $15 including tip. read more

This place used to be my go to spot back in time when I worked in DTLB, now it's been under new management, however, the taste has never changed but even better. I can't go wrong here, every bite is just so delicious. Great service., we got our orders so quick, as we walked in, we feel very welcomed :) i assured, she must be the owner, with beautiful smiling face ^_^ Love their fresh squeezed orange juice as well, very natural texture, the ice coffee is also a bomb (didn't get to take the picture, because I was just doving in and sipping right away) Lol Very nice ambiance, multiple tables are available to dinne in. Just...wow! I didn't get pictures of the food because I had just flown in and I was so hungry lol. This location was absolutely amazing, walkable distance from many hotels around, including The Pike outlets. The service was so friendly and with genuine smiles. The temperament was lively, colorful, and fast! For the amount of people that came in and out, they got through the lines in no time. It really does give you a NY vibe and I loved it! Seating is inside and outside with stools at the windows too. Their delivery process was efficient and the wait time is basically to make everything by order. The food was so delicious. I had a piping hot turkey sourdough bagel with pickle, sprouts, tomato, lettuce, the works! I ordered a Vietnamese coffee which was epic and I get a lot of Vietnamese coffee. It wasn't bitter at all and it was a tall cup which was surprising for the price! I also got the almond cream cheese croissant and oh my goodness! It was so delicious, so thick, bigger than my hand! I've explored almost the entire menu, and that's exactly what keeps me coming back. I usually stop by in the morning, and while the line can get long, it's always worth it. When I used to live in downtown, this place was automatic once a week order. They do a really good job with their bagel sandwiches. And the bagels are really good too if you just want to order a dozen. Haven't really ordered too many drinks from there but eggwich deluxe hits with my whole family. I still stop by right now and then to grab some bagels and cream cheese. Not much of a restaurant inside it's definitely a takeout place but they do have a fair amount of tables if you want/need to sit. read more

12/31/24 was my second time having lunch at this bagel spot in DTLB. I got the smoked vox/salmon bagel on sesame, and my bf got 2 Denver Omelets on one everything bagel & one parmesan/spinach bagel. He recommends the Denver on the everything bagel over the Parmesan/spinach. My smoked salmon was so tasty! The smoked fish was delicious over cream cheese & red onions. The pickle on the side was a perfect sour compliment. I'm not a fan of capers (I found this out today) but they are also served on the side and my bf told me his opinion was that they suited the salmon good as well. So that part is up to the individual taste! I got the unsweetened oolong tea from the fridge and it was tasty & refreshing, however warm coffees and other drinks are available made in house, like freshly pressed orange juice which I've had here as well. Overall the food was fresh, tasty, and filling but not too overwhelming of a meal. Awful experience here. First the gal working the counter wasn't overly friendly and when I asked about getting a bagel with Vegan cream cheese she told me they don't have her today even tho it's on their site. So that was the first disappointment then for a sourdough, out. Then a jalapeno cheese, out. It was 8am. So of us got a plain bagel with cream cheese and a wheat with lox. It took 24 freaking minutes for 2 basic orders and the worst part was they were rude about it when I asked about 20 mins in how much longer. When I finally got my bagel the lox has small specks of salmon. It was not even close to worth the time or cost. What an awful experience and establishment. Ps that definitely only have one cutting board where they slice all bagels that they put bacon, sausage, and cups of egg in so if you're worried about cross contamination for whatever reason be careful. read more

I'm not really sure how to feel. The location is great, it's close to where I work and I will say it is in a prime location on Pine Ave. But! I've also seen a lot of businesses at this exact location so with that being said im praying for prosperity. I walked in and ordered a #3 turkey or chicken w/ bacon and they allowed me to choose a bagel, which I got the spinach & Parmesan.... The bagel itself is delicious. I asked what was on the sandwich and he told me and I requested no tomato, no honey mustard and add regular mustard and lettuce. The wait was a bit but there was a tv in the dinning area so that was cool. They call you by your order so mine was ready. I get to my truck and I check the order.... Guess what no BACON! . I head back in and explain the situation and the young lady was super cool and apologetic about it and fixed the problem. Sooo bam at work and finally got the chance to chow down and BAM!! HONEY MUSTARD!!! Hate the stuff. And anything I did to fix it, the taste stayed on it. So my first experience was not how I imagined. There was one thing that did bother me. My total was $19 something (sandwich & pastry) now I understand that these bagel are in-housed so it takes a lot of work and detail. But there should not have been only 1 1/2 slices of Turkey or Chicken deli meat in between that delicious bagel. And because there was soo much honey mustard, I wasn't able to taste the provolone nor the bacon. And I loooooooovvveee bacon people. In my opinion I do believe that was an unfortunate event. Solid bagel shop with lots of different options for bagels! They also have juices, smoothies, and fruit cups that you can grab to-go. Service is pretty quick and friendly, and the price point is pretty affordable for a fast meal. I enjoy getting their breakfast bagel sandwiches - both the deluxe and denver ones are good. I've also tried their Honey Walnut Cream Cheese spread and it goes well with a savory bagel as it is just a little sweet. Never seems to get too crowded so a nice spot if you're on the go or if you want to eat it right then and there since they also have a decent sized space with tables and chairs to dine-in. read more

The bagels looked ok nothing special to them they are basic bagels so I don't have anything to say about them , However that oj is a HARD pass no way that's fresh squeezed today maybe another day but certainly NOT today! I had nothing bad to say about the taste since I didn't try it . I overall gave2 stars because when walking into a bakery I expect to smell baked goods no matter how long ago in the day it got baked . I walked into a weird funky smell and crowded chairs piled up blocking the entrance when they had an hour and maybe 15min left before closing so not inviting at all.
