Decent bakery in downtown Long Beach. I love my pastries so whenever I go, I look into a local place to check out. Lots of nice fruit Danishes here and classic French pastries which is their forte, their specialty. Good service, indoor seating. Their coffee wasn't that great, I would skip it next time, try another beverage. I wish they would be open later than 1 pm and not be closed on Sundays. It's their right, but since I don't live in the area and come to Long Beach occasionally, it'd be nice for Doly's to have a longer, more flexible schedule for customers. I had to find other places to go to if I visit the area on Sundays which is too bad. Good place for a light breakfast or a nice snack! The pastry kind! read more

I came around lunch time to get a matcha latte that was priced reasonably. I got it the regular way with whole milk and two stevia. This was the worst matcha latte I have ever had. As you can see in the picture the matcha is not mixed well and for $5.25 it is not worth it. Even if you try and mix it doesn't work. The employees were not that friendly, they make you feel rushed. Just what I needed on a Wednesday morning. I finally got to try this place out while on a long walk w my doggos. Staff was so sweet to my rambunctiously vocal pups. I was craving a simple, delicious and filling breakfast sandwich and that's exactly what I got. I ordered the breakfast sandwich w no ham (I don't eat meat) and subbed tomatoes, on a croissant. I had no idea that this was here, until my wife forwarded me a recent article in the Long Beach Post about DoLy's celebrating 15 years. Stopped in during a morning walk, picking up some of my favorite pastries/desserts. They were good, worth including in our rotation of pastry/donut shops in Long Beach. A portmanteau of the husband/wife owner's last names, DoLy's Delectables is located in downtown Long Beach, on the first floor of an office building. The inside is surprisingly large, with uncramped seating. They serve a variety of hot and cold caffeinated beverages, allowing a leisurely coffee house atmosphere. Someone offered to help right away, letting me take my time. I did find what I was looking for (almond croissant for $5.75), and added a couple of other things on a whim: Chocolate Almond Croissant ($5.75) and mini single serving creme brulee ($3.50), torched when you order. Brought everything home, and took sample bites to confirm that they were as good as they looked. Mission accomplished! Also learned that during the last hour of being open (noon to 1 pm, M-Sa), all remaining pastries are 50% off. That would turn them into a great deal. read more

I recently moved in the neighborhood and found Dolys. Love the coffee, but whenever I order food they mess it up. I cannot have cheese and ask the cashier to please not put cheese on my sandwich, they always do. I'll stick with Recreational Coffee moving forward. read more

I was in the area for a convention, and was looking for a quick breakfast before heading over to the convention center. We found this location through a quick maps search and saw it was on the way so we decided to try out their food and coffee. It's a fairly small space with no frills, but there was plenty of seating inside, and it seems like most just take their orders to go anyways. The staff friendly enough, and aside from slightly slower service, I didn't find anything wrong with my experience. They have a decent case of baked goods, as well as breakfast sandwich options. While nothing was out of this world, their food was solid and a great value for the price! Their coffee wasn't anything special to me, but they had a few milk options and syrups for their lattes and it got the job done. I think that if you're looking for a quick, no fuss option for coffee and breakfast this would be a great spot. I noticed that they had many regulars, and if I lived in the area I would probably be one too. This is a small bakery cafe' I accidentally discovered in downtown Long Beach. It is located on Broadway, near the Promenade. They have half dozen tables to sit at, almost of the business I observed was takeout. They do have a steady clientele coming into the shop. We had coffee and elected to stay to visit a bit. The coffee is pretty ordinary...nothing special. The assortment of baked goods looks tempting. They seem to specialize in French Macrons. Parking is metered on the street. $1.50 p/hr. This little coffee cafe has delicious croissants and pastries--I was genuinely impressed. Prices are reasonable (around $4.50+ depending on the item), and everything I've tried has been super fresh and flavorful. They also have macarons and muffins (haven't tried those yet), and they serve coffee too, which makes it a great little morning or mid-day stop. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, which adds to the charm. Not sure of their exact hours, but it seems like they close early--and I wouldn't be surprised if things sell out fast. Hmm.. I really thought I would've at least written one review for DoLy's years ago already but I guess I didn't. This place has been here since forever too and I really appreciate and so happy to see business who has been here over 15 years still going strong. It's a bit of a walk for me and my colleagues from our work to here but when we feel like a good walk in the morning, we would come here. They always have a great selections of muffins, bagels, and croissants/bakeries. They offer a variety of breakfast items and breakfast sandwiches and what nots. I believe they are owned by a Vietnamese couple, at least that's what I thought all these years but I could be wrong. They offer strong Vietnamese coffee and other coffee and tea drinks. Their croissants here are so good! Without even warming it up when you order, the outside is toasty and crunchy! I love their plain croissants or the ham and cheese croissants. Service is always great, everyone is so nice. The place can be so hot and muggy in the morning though but it would be really nice during the cold winter. read more

On my journey of finding comparable croissants to Sugarbloom, I found myself here. While they don't look aesthetically like a typical beautiful croissant, they TASTE great. If you prefer a croissant that's buttery with a crunchy exterior, I would go here. PARKING: confusing. They have a giant lot but you have to pay to park. A man emerged from thin air to yell at me to pay but didn't clarify where or to who, so I left. There's so much construction that there's zero street parking on Broadway, so I guess you could park at a meter on 3rd street, just north of Dolys. I'm a regular here, always get muffins with latte. The staff are very nice and friendly. They recently did some remodeling to make the cafe look brighter and more spacious. Back to the pastries, the muffins are fluffy inside with some crunch on the outside, and taste not too sweet. I ordered croissants, macaroons, madeleines (I think they discontinued this) before, they all tasted delicious and have decent texture to each. I say early morning risers because you must get here earlier than later- as they sell out of their yummy pastries. They make a certain quantity everyday. I was told you could call ahead & order. A great feature to make sure you get what you really want. Everyone in front of me ordered a pastry with their coffee so I thought heck. ALMOND CROISSANT! Wowzers. If they have them you must get one! My taste buds took over and I ate the whole thing. Even licked my fingers a few times, no regrets. A few customers behind me tried ordering the same thing & they had sold out at 8:00 AM on a Friday. After devouring my entire croissant I asked the owner how it was that good. His response "because they are made with love". I sure tasted it & I recommend you do the same. I also got a blueberry pinwheel (no I didn't inhale the whole thing). Also fabulous but I preferred the almond croissant. They have more food items on their menu other than just pastries. Sandwiches, bagels, salads, etc. I appreciated the coffee selection. They have drip coffee, espresso drinks, smoothies as well. I went with a small drip coffee- can't beat paying $1.95 for a coffee these days. If you are local to Long Beach this would be the perfect spot to be a regular. The only thing I would have liked better is if they had a coffee condiment bar setup- they do it themselves behind the counter. If you like your coffee a specific way make sure to vocalize that. Came here for a quick coffee and breakfast sandwich during the week. My husband got a regular coffee and breakfast sandwich on sourdough, and I got a latte with a sausage muffin. Our orders came quick, service was speedy and pleasant. Coffees were solid and our sandwiches were yummy! I was also happy to see they're open early at 6am for days when I need an early coffee fix. BEST CROISSANTS. Period. My only complaint is parking. There's street parking; if you're lucky, there would be plenty of street parking but metered. There are couple of free spots right outside; hopefully people are just picking up their orders and will vacate those spots quickly. Still, it's worth it. Friendly service, good coffee, great sandwiches and plenty of other pastries. I'm not in downtown LB often but I try to stop by whenever I am in the area in the morning. Moved to LB 4 1/2 years ago and this review has been way over due. This little hidden gem is run by a husband and wife. Located in the heart of DTLB, this mom-and-pop shop bakery offers a variety of delicious and excellent quality pastries and baked goods that are baked on premises. They have a large variety of caffeinated drinks as well as smoothies. Check out their menu as they also offer quick breakfast and lunch options (sandwiches, burritos, bagels, etc.). The sweet, cheerful, caring, helpful ladies that run the front while the magical baking happens in the back, will assist you and give you positive energy as your order is completed. I usually take my order to go but in the rare occasion I have a free morning or have visitors, I treat myself to enjoying their cozy, warm and cute little cafe which is set up to make people feel welcomed and comfortable. Been here twice wanting to try the almond croissant. First time I came in a rainy Saturday thinking not too many people would want to drive out in the rain but I was wrong. Got here around 11:00 and they were all out of not just the almond croissants but pretty much everything. I was lucky enough to try their cinnamon twist and the blue berry pinwheel pasty. Both were worth the 20 minute drive. Second time was also on a Saturday but got here by 10:00. Again, no more almond croissant but there were a lot pastries to chose from. I was able to try their chocolate croissant which had a really crispy crunch in every bite. Towards the center I was able to find the chocolate surrounded by the soft part of the croissant. The chocolate wasn't too sweet but it was thick. Perfect to go with a nice cup coffee. I also got the lemon poppy muffin. Surprised how delish this one was. Heated up the blueberry muffin when I got home and it was nice and fluffy with big pieces of blueberry inside. Another win. Was feeling an apple turnover pastry. I took a bite once I got to the car and joked that it was like eating the apple pie from McDonalds. Upon each subsequent bites this pasty got better and better. I'll saving that as a dessert for later. I had to get the cinnamon twist again. It was so flaky and not to mention a generous portion for your money's worth. This is the less sweeter than all the other pasty which was nice. Last thing I got was the Vietnamese coffee flavored macaron. Wasn't expecting much from it but when I took a bite of it, I was surprised. The outside was the perfect texture and the filling was the right consistency. It even had a little condensed milk oozing out of it. This was probably one of the best macarons I've had. They're $1.75 each but they're a nice size too. Not too small but not too big that you feel sweeted out after engulfing the whole thing. I'm still going to attempt to get there earlier next time to get the almond croissant. They do offer advanced ordering and even give you a discount if you order a dozen or more. I only want one so I guess I'll have to set my alarm clock to wake up earlier to test my luck again. I just had a horrible experience there this morning both of the ladies MARIA and LISA were yelling at me right when I walked in for me to leave if I don't purchase anything as I was on the phone walking in. I think it was because I am African American the person before me who walked in and sat down they didn't say a word to. All they said was "people come here and just cause trouble and wonder around." Entered at 11:55 on Monday, we were met by a woman with white blond hair in her mid 40s-50s and asked to see if they had a large box available to put orders in while we picked out items. Picked out items, went to the cashier at 11:57. They started ringing up our items. At that point we see right next to the cashier, Happy Hour is from 12-1pm weekdays (aka a clearance sale for the things they were unable to sell in the morning for the last hour before they close.) It was at 11:58 at this point and we realized on our own, we were 2 minutes from the Happy Hour time with no notification or help from the blonde woman cashier. She had finished ringing everything up at this point and we try to stop her and ask if she can apply the Happy Hour and she flat out says, no.
