Oh bixby joe.. there's not much to say about this coffee shop- which kind of makes it perfect for a routine coffee. It's average coffee, which is not a bad thing- you can just expect to have it the same way each time. The staff seem busy most times you walk in, there use to be more of a greeting but times have changed. It's a more quiet vibe. However, it is a nice place to work on things- like if you forgot to send that email or fix that paper- you could swiftly do it there. Quick note: they close the kitchen at 4 but may let you know it's closed at 3:45-3:50ish. So be weary of ordering before that time frame. Overall, a solid coffee shop that can go either way depending on your taste :)

Bixby Joe's been a staple since 2018, non-stop customers when dining there from take out to dine-ins. FOOD 3.5/5 Not bad, nothing amazing but does the job! - Protein Packed Breakfast Wrap - $11.95 - Iced Avocado Blend Medium - $6.25 - Bagel Sandwich w/Lox, Everything Light Co - $12.50 AMBIENCE x STAFF SERVICE 4/5 Friendly service from all staff members and the ambience is pretty clean with the staff cleaning tables, taking the trash out, etc. PARKING 4/5 Easy parking in the plaza lot

We got together at Bixby Joe for a writers club this morning. The space is big and great for small groups to meet. They have great vegan options for bagel toppings for the win. It was pretty dang crowded at 10am on a Thursday- which good for them! 4 stars because some issue with an order but we'd still go back.

A warm, welcoming local spot when you need a reset After a long and draining day at the state disability office, I needed something to lift my energy and found Bixby Joe. I'm really glad I did. From the moment I walked in, it felt like a true local café--people playing chess, others working on laptops, enjoying food and coffee. The space was warm and welcoming, and the smell of fresh pastries and bread was immediate. I appreciated that they also offer vegan cookies and pastries. I picked up a slice of pumpkin bread and a vegan chocolate chip cookie, both really good. Since it was my first visit and I don't like overly sweet drinks, the staff recommended the Spanish latte, which was smooth, balanced, and delicious. I also ordered the ham panini on sourdough, filled generously with spinach, tomatoes, onions, and mayo. It was flavorful and comforting. The only small note is that the bread did get a bit soggy, though I still enjoyed it and ate the whole thing. I sat at the counter listening to relaxing music and soaking in the good energy. Everyone was kind and welcoming, and the barista even grabbed me a cup of ice and suggested a few other items to try next time. Overall, a really pleasant experience with good coffee, good food, and genuinely kind people. I'd happily stop by again when I'm in the area.

Waking up early is already tough if you're not a morning person. But imagine finding a coffee shop along your route to work. Imagine it circumvents traffic and you're able to relax for a few minutes from the time saved! This is that coffee shop. I'd say it's more than that. I've been here a few times and it begins to feel like home. There is a local crowd that hangs around here. It's family owned and the owners are real and kind. I grab the lox croissant or the avocado toast, either with an avocado smoothie (yes, avocado!) or straight black coffee. Yum! All of them are amazing! If you ever stop by, treat it like your home. When you walk in, make sure you say hi and good morning. Genuinely ask how it's going. Then enjoy the environment. Many friendly ppl and of course some ppl that just want to enjoy time alone. But either way, be polite, keep your manners, and don't forget to say thanks and see you all later!

Great spot! We ordered to-go and our food held up great until we got home. The veggie wrap was perfectly balanced with soft, scrambled egg whites, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese, enveloped in a lightly toasted tortilla. My partner ordered "double sausage" for his breakfast bagel and was pleasantly surprised to get 4 slices of sausage. A meat lovers dream. The iced latte was also great. We will be back!

I've been to this place a few times and like it a lot. however, this time i came in at 4:53pm on a Tuesday and their kitchen is closed???????? i thought it's because they're closing soon but i checked their hours AND THEY CLOSE AT 6pm... why are they still open then if they aren't making any foodbut it's fine the girl was nice just wondering why the kitchen is closed so early. also, their phone line is down because i keep trying to call but it doesn't ring.

Our favorite quick breakfast spot. This place is affordable, provides nice size portions, has incredibly delicious bakery items and provides top notch service every time. Been coming here for years and never had an order wrong or anything not made to my liking. I really enjoy the extensive menu (yet not overwhelming). Located in a strip mall with an ok amount of parking. At busier times, you may need to circle, but more often than not, it's pretty easy to find parking. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Every day and at all times, you will find people working from here. It's a chill environment, yet a bit loud. Really a great spot in a good location!

Came in before my daughter's ballet class which is right across the street and the owner took our order and she was just the sweetest! The coffee shop itself is so cute and quiet. We ordered their ham, egg and cheese croissant sandwich, a cappuccino and their chocolate muffin and everything we ordered was delicious! We had an amazing experience so we will definitely be back!!

I stumbled upon Bixby Joe the other evening after I had took my brother to the Urgent Care next door. While waiting for our ride we decided to go in and see what they had to offer. I find it cool how they offer custom smoothies and my brother had opted for a strawberry, banana, & mango smoothie. I was actually a bit reluctant to order anything as I try to steer away from caffeine once it gets late in the day. I asked the cashier for the most popular picks as I was indecisive and he recommended their mocha frappe. I requested it without caffeine to which the cashier informed me it would just be milk and powder which I was okay with. They were unfortunately low on pastries as we arrived 30 minutes before closing time so my brother got one of the chocolate chip cookies displayed on the counter. The environment is relaxed and I could see myself coming here to study or read. My frappe was pretty subpar but I honestly believe I just ordered the wrong item. Fortunately my brother loved his smoothie. Overall, this is a cute coffee shop in the heart of Bixby Knolls that I'd revisit. 3.8/5

It's located in Bixby Knolls, surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants, bars and breweries, yet it's the only true wine bar right there. You will not regret it. The food menu has cheese boards, salads and sandwiches, and everything I've had here has been delicious. The cheese boards are better than sex. There is seating indoors and outdoors. It's minimal, but somehow we always manage to find a table. The service is consistently great and the owner is wonderful. She will be leaving soon and she will absolutely be missed, but what she has built here will definitely be cherished. The new owners fell in love with the place, so you can expect it to be well taken care of and to remain just as charming. Parking is street only, so read the signs carefully so you don't end up with a ticket. If you go on a Sunday there are no restrictions or time limits, which makes it even better.

First it's 7:30pm, planned on ordering a matcha and the person at the register informed me that there was "No coffee or tea after 4pm" so I choose to order a non alcoholic beverage and maybe something to eat and cashier or owner, whoever this person was tells me if I plan to work because it becomes a "laptop free zone" after 4pm. Odd behavior to tell someone what they can and can't do at an establishment considering it's called a coffee AND wine bar. Maybe this is something to advertise on your yelp and website but a "laptop free zone" after 4pm is pretty ridiculous for potential customers who were just looking to eat and work. I almost feel like he just told me that because I was going to order a salad and a non alcoholic beverage and wasn't planning on ordering much. As the other 1 star reviews mention "pretentious behavior" so it's either the cashier or whoever it was is plowing pretentious as others mentioned or RACIST... Kinda odd to dictate what I do on my own accord while I'm a patron at your establishment. If I ordered food and a drink but chose to open my laptop, are you going to ask me to leave? Doesn't really seem customer centric. I've worked at restaurants before. Considering this is not a club, there's no live music and there were only 3 people sitting in there, I think I would have been fine to sit there quietly in a corner with my laptop. 1 star for the experience and weird behavior like I said either pretentious or racist but weird behavior nonetheless.

This time (yesterday), however, was not nearly the same experience. First of all, I realized we couldn't book a table for 8 people, so me and my friends book 2 tables for 8.30PM. I called asking if it's possible to put our tables together close or side by side, they said they will try their best. We all showed up at 8.30 and waited until around 9-9.15 because they only had 1 table ready. Ok. Come the time the other table opened and it's not even that close to each other. But it's okay, I respect the limitations on this part. No one came to us to take our order or even give us water until way later, and we got our drinks at 9.45. Another critique is that my friend called and ask how much corkage fee and they said $25. It turned out to be $40. Another disappointment, but it's ok. Not much can be done bout that part. Next thing is the food. We enjoyed the fried green beans. Crudo was really really salty, and it's not only 1 person thought that. We wondered if the kitchen mistakenly salted the fish twice. We enjoyed the peach salad. We ordered a few different pasta and the tagliatelle in particular was disappointing. It really lacked flavor that we had to mix the other pasta dish sauce to it. The pork plate was good, a bit small but we enjoyed it. Now the mussles and frites were disappointing too. The sauce just didn't do it for me (other friends agreed). I always talked really highly about Nonna Mercato (I also enjoyed the brunch so much) and always told people that this is one of my most favorite restaurants in Long Beach, but this one really missed the mark for me and my friends. I don't know if this would make us want to go to Summer Nights again next time. For $130 per person (after tax, tip, and corkage fees), I definitely hoped for a much better experience.

Peruvian Steak sandwich- Spicy aji amarillo marinated steak with Oaxacan cheese, herb aioli, red onions, tomatoes, shredded romaine on a toasted potato roll. I quite liked this. Tender steak, with fatty cheese. The vegetables provided contrast & texture. For my purchase, I went with a side of Southern Potato Salad. It was good, but similar to grocery deli potato salad. In hindsight, I should've purchased avocado added to my Peruvian Steak sandwich. Service was excellent. All hands were on deck, as Mendocino Farms opened only a few days prior. Each employee had a name badge, specifying their name & which entree was their favorite, helping indecisive customers choose what to get. Plenty of seating indoors & al fresco. Parking is at LBX, with Mendocino Farms being across Georgia's and facing the Hangar at LBX. I found the Peruvian Steak sandwich delicious, yet meager in quantity, considering the regular price. It's more of a substantial snack, than a full meal, in my case. However, it's great to have another quality food option in the area, and I look forward to coming back & exploring the rest of menu.

Heard about Dilly's Sandwiches having the most unique rotating set of beers on tap in Long Beach,…read moreso had to come to try it. The taste portions were very reasonably priced, allowing to create your own flight (or two). Specifically scheduled an early afternoon to come to the Lakewood Village neighborhood of East Long Beach. My wife found an angled parking spot right in front. It wasn't too crowded inside and the four of us found easy, comfortable seating in the brightly decorated dining room. One places and pays for the order at the counter, with the proprietors being very friendly and engaged. They brought out our beers after the pour, and the sandwiches a bit after (since each is individually carefully made). Beers: - Northern Lager [Oxbow] - ($5 for 13oz pour) was clean, crisp and a hoppy aftertaste. - Infinite Hotel [The Wayfinder X Bierstadt] (marked as $3 but charged $4) is a rice lager and was the favorite of the group for its drinkability - Winteruption [JK's Farmhouse] ($3) is a cider with very strong maple syrup overtones: never tasted anything like it. - Hyper Paradise [Rare Barrel] ($4) - saison and ale with mango and passion fruit. I liked this beer very much. - A Place Like Home [Pure Project] ($3) - Nitro poured Extra Special Bitter. - Double Negative [Grimm] ($4) - Imperial Stout, which I really enjoyed. - Amongst Friends [Sante Adairius] ($4) - a cherry saison, unusual and was glad to sample. A lot of work was put into creating this flight, with the careful pours and markings to make sure I knew what was what. I really appreciated the opportunity to sample all of these on-tap. In terms of the food, the group as a whole really liked them, though I guess I wasn't as impressed with my two samples, mainly because it used non-descript deli meat in OK quantities, heating them up when necessary. Hot Beef ($18) was my wife's, and it had been griddled with cheese to form a crispy lattice. The Ham and Cheese ($16) was served cold and had potato chips inside which my mother-in-law liked (saving the other half for home). Our friend and I split the Hot Turkey ($16) and Pastrami No 19 style ($20). The pastrami meat was piled high and the cole slaw was crisp and good, but was served cold (should have read the description more closely) and mediocre rye bread broke apart quickly. The Hot Turkey ($16) was served on ciabatta that had been grill pressed for a long time, creating a wonderful crust as good as any sandwich I've had. But the filling was OK, using standard turkey breast slices from a loaf and an ok stuffing...using hand carved turkey would have made a big difference here, but understand it's hard to do. Strangely, even though it's a pickle adorned shop, each sandwich just came with an ordinary pickle spear, what one would expect from a diner, not a deli. And the prices are on the higher side, especially with no sides and most not being particularly ginormous. But I loved how each sandwich used different breads, and how some of them were toasted very well. And having the opportunity to try these unique beers made it a really good experience.

Recently stopped by Beach City Deli & BBQ after seeing recommendations online and decided to order…read morethe Big Kahuna. Honestly, one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. The pineapple added to what's basically a Cuban style sandwich sounds different at first, but it works perfectly. The balance of sweet, savory, crispy, and smoky was spot on. Everything tasted super fresh and the bread held everything together perfectly without getting soggy. My original plan was to eat half and save the rest for later... yeah, that didn't happen. Ended up finishing the whole thing because it was that good. Service was friendly, food came out quick, and the whole spot had a really chill local vibe. Definitely a hidden gem if you're in the area. Highly recommend this place and I'll for sure be back to try more off the menu.

But, I understand. That particular sandwich is loaded with 6 kinds of meat. The contingency sandwich became the Big Bucky, w/ the choice of 3 meats. Soppressata, mortadella, bacon, extra onions, pickles & tomatoes. A satisfying, filling sub sandwich that made for a pleasurable lunch. A nominal wait, the meat were freshly sliced, and assembling the sandwich with plump & crisp vegetables, it was worth every minute of delay. The cashier was friendly & a pleasure to deal with, too.

I Luv Ur Buns, I super miss you!…read more Really glad we got to stop in one last time before the swan song. Your Satay with Me will stay with me forever. Though very much a forever fan of the Orange U Yummy and your Triple Buns Mix 7 match deal. Hot Honey Bun (V) style was a so so good. Global Flavors on Bao Buns for all the yum and then some not to mention those vegetable spring rolls, fries and load fries as well as bowls. Service on the last weekend was a perfect 10/10. The vibes and decor at SteelCraft where ILUB called home is still nothing but great, live music/djs, tvs with sports or local events and an open air covered food and hangout hub. Easy parking in on of their 2 lots, see signs. This sign will absolutely be missed.

It was a nice addition to the mini food court in Long Beach, but unfortunately, times got tough for them to the point where they had to pull the plug on their operations. I Luv Ur Buns was one of seven vendors at Steelcraft Long Beach on the southeast corner of Long Beach and Bixby. They had taken over the spot that used to be Waffle Love, and it was such a quick turnaround that on my first visit to Steelcraft Long Beach since the Waffle Love closure, I almost thought they seamlessly rebranded from waffles to bao buns lol. Signage was posted around the shipping container assigned to I Luv Ur Buns and even a signicade closer to Steelhead Coffee; the signs informed customers that they were closing and that the Sunday preceding Martin Luther King Jr Day would be their last day of business, which also happened to be the same day the LA Rams were playing in the NFC Divisional Round of the playoffs, so I almost thought Steelcraft would be jam-packed. Actually, no it wasn't even that busy, and there were several parking spots available just around Steelcraft. I definitely wanted to try a bao bun, but not a full dinner, so that left me with the two Global Flavors sections of the menu. One section was titled "Global Flavors on Bao Buns" where you basically get two bao buns. Don't think these bao buns are large by any means; I tried a couple at Sosogu sometime last year, and they're not that big either. They would have been the perfect size for a snack, but I was also curious about the other Global Flavors section, titled "Global Flavors with Rice or Fries". That section only has two line items: Mini Bowls and Loaded Fries. I didn't want fries, but when I asked about a Mini Bowl, I was informed that it was a deconstructed version of a bao bun with a small mound of rice. Wanting a little more variety, I went with the Bao Mi Mini Bowl. The menu did get a little confusing for me because I had noticed the (V), which usually stands for either vegan or vegetarian. However, they had several non-vegetarian items with (V), and that had me confused at first; like how is a bao bun with grilled pork belly vegetarian?? That's when the cashier, sporting a black nose ring, let me know that it can be ordered with a plant-based option, namely tofu. However, the cashier also mentioned the use of a shared fryer between their plant-based options and their regular options, so if you were strictly vegan, I'd think twice first. I asked how long the wait would be, and they estimated 10 minutes, which was pretty much spot on. I was given a pager that buzzed when my order was ready, and since there was plenty of space for me to eat, I was given a red tray with an "I Luv Ur Buns" sticker in the middle. The mini bowl was presented on a small tray, like one you'd use when you're giving out samples at a special event. I was also given a fork, which was another reason why I ordered a Mini Bowl over two bao buns as I wanted to keep my hands clean. Besides the grilled pork belly, the Bao Mi also comes with hoisin sauce, cucumber, jalapeno, onion, and cilantro. All of what I just mentioned tasted pretty good, though not necessarily as good as what I had at Sosogu last year. Then again, the Bao Mi is Vietnamese-style whereas Sosogu is Japanese, but between the two, which are the two cheapest options at $10, the Bao Mi was the most popular alongside their Korean-style, called Seoul on Fire. I'm pretty sure I would have liked Seoul on Fire better as it comes with Bulgogi beef, but the grilled pork belly was pretty good too. Just not as fatty as I would have liked. However, I didn't like their use of a wrapping paper between the tray and the food. That's because several grains of rice got stuck on the wrapping paper, and it was hard to pluck them off with my fork. As a result, it got kind of messy eating the mini bowl, and I almost thought I'd drop a piece of pork belly in the process! Luckily, I didn't, but I don't think that would be a problem with the bao buns since the bao bun from my mini bowl didn't stick to the wrapping paper at all. One thing I observed that I thought was kind of cool was witnessing the cashier hand deliver a tray of bao buns to an employee from Elio's Wood Fire Pizza, directly across from I Luv Ur Buns. I wouldn't say I love I Luv Ur Buns, but it made for a nice quick snack albeit a little pricey for a small bowl. I'm glad I gave them a try before they closed for good, and I made sure to bid them a proper adieu by returning the tray to them. They also had a small tray of I Luv Ur Buns stickers by their order window, so I made sure to pick up a couple as souvenirs. Thank you I Luv Ur Buns for serving the LBC for the past couple years, and sorry to see you go! Best wishes to Sonya, Mandy, and the rest of the team on their future endeavors.
