CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE LEAVING Was looking for a breakfast spot and came across this place. It was about a 20 minute drive from home so I was hoping it was worth it. Walking in the ambiance was regular typical cafe. The customer service was traditionally basic. I ordered for 4ppl and when I arrived home I noticed my order was partially wrong. I ordered 2 bacon avocado toast, 1 avocado toast and a grilled cheese. They forgot the bacon on one of the avocado toast. And 2 of the 4 drinks weren't full. As I mentioned it was about a 20 minute drive so I just took the loss. The taste of the food was ok for 2 of the ppl other 2 ppl one being myself was kind turned off with the missing bacon and half full drinks so I basically trashed my meal. I'm aware humans make mistakes but that alone doesn't make me want to rush back to this location. I do want to mention something good about this place I did like how they dressed up the avocado toast with the egg on the side. read more

Oh bixby joe.. there's not much to say about this coffee shop- which kind of makes it perfect for a routine coffee. It's average coffee, which is not a bad thing- you can just expect to have it the same way each time. The staff seem busy most times you walk in, there use to be more of a greeting but times have changed. It's a more quiet vibe. However, it is a nice place to work on things- like if you forgot to send that email or fix that paper- you could swiftly do it there. Quick note: they close the kitchen at 4 but may let you know it's closed at 3:45-3:50ish. So be weary of ordering before that time frame. Stopped by Bixby Joe's at 2:30 on a Tuesday. Fairly busy inside but a few tables available. Decent amount of seats in a smallish cafe. Plugs next to most seats and a/c is good. A warm, welcoming local spot when you need a reset After a long and draining day at the state disability office, I needed something to lift my energy and found Bixby Joe. I'm really glad I did. From the moment I walked in, it felt like a true local café--people playing chess, others working on laptops, enjoying food and coffee. The space was warm and welcoming, and the smell of fresh pastries and bread was immediate. I appreciated that they also offer vegan cookies and pastries. I picked up a slice of pumpkin bread and a vegan chocolate chip cookie, both really good. Since it was my first visit and I don't like overly sweet drinks, the staff recommended the Spanish latte, which was smooth, balanced, and delicious. I also ordered the ham panini on sourdough, filled generously with spinach, tomatoes, onions, and mayo. It was flavorful and comforting. The only small note is that the bread did get a bit soggy, though I still enjoyed it and ate the whole thing. I sat at the counter listening to relaxing music and soaking in the good energy. Everyone was kind and welcoming, and the barista even grabbed me a cup of ice and suggested a few other items to try next time. I live near by and often pass by but never stopped. I decided to finally check it out and I see why it's so popular. Great food, pastries and bagel options..plenty of of coffee, smoothies and drinks to choose from. Good music, nice staff and seating available inside and outside. Since it's popular, you'll have to wait a little bit for your order. I got a bagel sandwich and it taste okay. My order was wrong so maybe that's why I didn't enjoy my food as much as I'd hope. I will be back to try it out again and just make sure to have them read the order back to me before paying. read more

Waking up early is already tough if you're not a morning person. But imagine finding a coffee shop along your route to work. Imagine it circumvents traffic and you're able to relax for a few minutes from the time saved! This is that coffee shop. I'd say it's more than that. I've been here a few times and it begins to feel like home. There is a local crowd that hangs around here. It's family owned and the owners are real and kind. I grab the lox croissant or the avocado toast, either with an avocado smoothie (yes, avocado!) or straight black coffee. Yum! All of them are amazing! If you ever stop by, treat it like your home. The veggie wrap was perfectly balanced with soft, scrambled egg whites, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese, enveloped in a lightly toasted tortilla. Been coming here for years and never had an order wrong or anything not made to my liking. I really enjoy the extensive menu (yet not overwhelming). Located in a strip mall with an ok amount of parking. At busier times, you may need to circle, but more often than not, it's pretty easy to find parking. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The place is small in a plaza by a popular area in Bixby but the interior is still cozy and comfortable even though it isn't the most spacious. A Must-Visit for Bagel Sandwiches! This place is an absolute staple when it comes to bagel sandwiches -- and so far, no one tops their Lox Bagel. It's seriously that good. The avocado bacon toast is another standout; the bacon is real, perfectly cooked, and adds the right amount of crunch and flavor. The only downside for me is the coffee -- I haven't found an iced coffee here that I really enjoy yet, which is a bit of a letdown since I love a one-stop morning routine. That said, the food makes it worth the extra detour from my usual commute. What a nice find! It was a early Saturday, and we were looking to grab a few bagels for breakfast. Bixby Joe was nearby, and based on the reviews, lets go! There's plenty of parking outside. It was 8am in the morning so the lot was practically empty. The one thing that stood out to me inside was the Harry Potter reference; Platform 9 3/4 is on the wall. That was super cool to see. I went with the breakfast bagel; double sausage, egg and cheese on a everything bagel. My fiancee went with the veggie breakfast wrap. My bagel was huge! There were 4 slices of sausage, never going to complain about that. The bagel tasted fresh and easy to chew. That tells me these are freshly made bagels with clean ingredients. It tasted amazing. My fiancee really enjoyed her veggie wrap. She said it was nice and fresh tasting, and the veggies were delicious. Overall, we were very happy with our breakfast selections. I stumbled upon Bixby Joe the other evening after I had took my brother to the Urgent Care next door. While waiting for our ride we decided to go in and see what they had to offer. I find it cool how they offer custom smoothies and my brother had opted for a strawberry, banana, & mango smoothie. I was actually a bit reluctant to order anything as I try to steer away from caffeine once it gets late in the day. I asked the cashier for the most popular picks as I was indecisive and he recommended their mocha frappe. I requested it without caffeine to which the cashier informed me it would just be milk and powder which I was okay with. They were unfortunately low on pastries as we arrived 30 minutes before closing time so my brother got one of the chocolate chip cookies displayed on the counter. The environment is relaxed and I could see myself coming here to study or read. My frappe was pretty subpar but I honestly believe I just ordered the wrong item. Fortunately my brother loved his smoothie. Overall, this is a cute coffee shop in the heart of Bixby Knolls that I'd revisit. 3.8/5 read more

My colleagues and I were at a job in Long Beach and we needed a place to eat. We found Bixby Jones not far from us and we decided to give it a try. We had grilled chicken Panini sandwiches that were really delicious. They didn't use traditional bread for the Panini. Instead, they used white bread, but it worked really well. We also had some vanilla Iced chai lattes and they were very tasty. We also had dessert and the banana bread, he Ube brownie, and the scone were delicious. Bixby Jones is like a café that has a really great ambience and the servers are very friendly. We were also on a time crunch so they got our order done in about 10 Minutes. I got the chicken panini and that was delicious. Except I was expecting a different kind of bread since it's a panini. I also ordered a chicken turkey wrap and it had very little meat and my husband didn't care for it. I did get a chocolate chip cookie. I was disappointed because it looked as though someone took a bite . A pretty good chunk was missing. My honest experience at Bixby Joe (visit: July 6, 2025, morning shift): I hate to be that Yelper, and I truly gave this place multiple tries because I wanted to like it. Bixby Joe entirely lost my trust. I'm debating how much time I want to spend on this review for their negligence as I'm writing this in pain. NEVER in my life had I experienced SEVERE, caffeine poisoning. (Mind you I've worked as a barista in college) Their dangerously, over‑spiked espresso, "drip coffee" almost sent me to URGENT CARE, AND made me miss an important family celebration. For the record: I wasn't asked if I wanted an Americano, Red Eye, or even what brew type. The female cashier (medium‑dark complexion, long jet‑black hair, non-buzz cut) simply served it. Complete negligence. She's not the only one either. Inconsistent service. It's not just that: they're also oblivious about allergy information and sometimes say unwarranted remarks, even on standard orders. I had a friend self-administer an epipen shot b/c of their lack of standards. She hasn't been back since. When it comes to my health, I don't take chances. And neither should the community. Especially given Bixby knolls has a retirement community. As tough as it is, I've made the decision to blacklist Bixby Joe and take my money elsewhere. I always try to be fair and transparent, but customer safety, HEALTH, and basic professionalism are non-negotiable. read more

It's quick and simple but also much more than simple. We get their bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwiches. I add chive cream cheese and get it on a toasted jalapeño cheddar bagel. It's excellent. My family's orders are pretty similar and they also love it. The bacon is always crispy, I love the Swiss cheese instead of cheddar, and the egg whites are fluffy. Don't get me started on the bagel. We also love the iced raspberry chai latte and the iced cookie butter latte. Bixby Joe is a staple in Bixby Knolls and my favorite gem I've found. Try them out! read more

There is a lot of inside seating as well as some outdoor seating in a cute area. There is a lot of parking in the parking lot and it's free. They have a lot of different options here for light snacks, coffees, and other refreshing drinks. I'm not a coffee snob but whatever coffee blend the barista gave me for my decaf cappuccino was delicious - it had a caramelly kind of taste. Shoutout to the really patient and polite baristas. Parking was plentiful and the area is really nice! My cousin and I ordered a salmon lox bagel on an everything bagel and a grilled chicken panini to share. Lox bagel (4/5): good ratio of salmon to cream cheese and I LOVEEEE how many/much veggies they load up in the bagel. After eating it, I didn't feel bloated. It's not the most mind blowing bagel I've had but it's really solid. Grilled chicken panini (4/5): perfect crunch where it doesn't hurt the roof of your mouth. Chicken was juicy and flavorful.
