We arrived on a Sunday, and the wait was less than 20 minutes. Once we sat down, the service was quick, and we received our food very promptly! Both the drinks and the food were delicious, and their brunch options are truly fantastic!

I was visiting Long Beach for the day and looking for a good breakfast place and definitely picked the right one! For starters the menu covers all area of breakfast and leaves you with the problem of deciding what to pick. However after trying a couple different plates, I'm sure you can't go wrong with any. Our favorites were the Breakie Sandwich, the Omelet Casserole and the waffle. Personally I haven't seen an Omelet Casserole offered anywhere else and was very curious. It's said to be a family recipe that is prepped 24 hours in advance and you can taste it! I highly recommend giving it a try! It's a pretty average sized place, but they have a decent amount of outdoor seating. It is street parking so be aware of that. It wasn't busy so our food was super quick! Overall the food was delicious and the service was great!

Cute little vibe and a nice little patio. The staff was friendly and efficient. Seems like they get busy had a full bar. Had a full bar and looks like they get a good bar crowd. Food was pretty tasty. I got the meatloaf. It was pretty good more of a Spanish style than the traditional meatloaf as the chicken waffles. Chicken was fabulous cooked perfectly. And the waffle was great! Ranch was also delicious always a sucker for good ranch!

We actually planned for a different brunch but it was too busy, so we decided to visit here. It was prime brunch time and we were slightly in a rush. I called ahead in case and asked how long it may take for them to prepare (luckily within 10mins), and you know it was actually not that busy when we arrived. We were already annoyed with trying to find street parking around the area (we don't visit Long Beach often lol), but they have their own parking lot shared with Travelodge. Thank goodness. The parking lot is kinda small and it seems like most people parked there are here for the restaurant. We went to grab and go our order and just ate it in the parking lot haha. My brief look at the inside of the restaurant, there's a good amount of seating here, especially the patio. Inside was more like a diner style, a bit more tight-knit. We ordered the Eggs Noni (benedict style) and the Eggs N E WAY. Our food wasn't out very long, so we just just got them when they just finished the order. So I opened my eggs noni, but the biscuit on the bottom was so... soggy? It seemed like it got so soggy from the tomatoes, so that was kind of an unappetizing part. It's nice they separated everything else tho, the poached egg and the hollandaise sauce.. even though the benedict was already so soggy lol. I actually got tots as my option, but they gave me a potato pancake instead. Which honestly, the potato pancake was very nice, no regrets on trying. Everything else about this benedict was pretty mid. My bf had the eggs n e way, he said it was pretty standard. Nothing really too special, but also agreed the potato pancake was good haha. Otherwise, this was a decent backup option if you're looking for brunch. Brunch items were on the higher price for what it is though, but it was alright.

The service was great!! That was the best part. Our food was good but it's definitely extremely overpriced.

Getting 2 stars because service was NOT IT. Make sure you order right when the server comes on checks on you if not they will forget about you. 15 min to order. Then we asked for ketchup.... Two different people. No one came. Until we were done and my kids still haven't eaten because they were waiting for their ketchup. Food is over priced... and still have a good tip.. crazy work.

The Breakfast Bar is a causal breakfast and lunch spot popular amongst local. They're located on The corner of Redondo ave. and E 4th street in Long Beach. I was greeted by a young female hostess and sat at the corner table by the window. Their menu has a breadth of food and drink items. Its interior decor was modern with an upbeat atmosphere. My adorable server, Trish, was assiduous and professional. For food, I ordered a Lemon Pancakes x scrambled eggs and avocado. And for drinks, I had coffee and oj. I liked my drink but not so much the food. However, my lemon pancakes were bloody dry and crumbled easily; eggs x avocado were good. Service was spot on. Staff were amazing. Prices were on the high end of its market value. Parking lot was unavailable but plenty of street parking. Overall, I think it a modest local breakfast spot.

The rosemary sourdough bread was delicious The meatloaf was flavored well and was really good. Love the salsa over it and the sunny side up eggs over it paired perfectly. Absolutely would get this again. The vegan bowl was great as well Definetly didn't skimp on the avocado like most places would. The service was great. Fast friendly and attentive. I'd come here again if in the area and want a good breakfast.

Food: 5***** A. I didn't eat because I am not hungry and intermittent fasting until 11AM at least. My boo was starving from our evening and morning beach walk so wanted something healthy. He chose this mixed berry bowl with homemade granola, yogurt and honey - it was good! Service: 4****B. The staff were at the outside entrance to welcome you in. We walk straight to the bar. Server at the bar was lagging on warming up my coffee even on the first refill so I had to ask. Ambiance: ***** A. Clean diner style. Great tunes and a tv to watch movies and plenty of diverse seasonal menu options with fancy high-end interesting cocktails. Dietitian Dorothy's nutrition tip: order the Daily Fuel in the healthy choice section of the menu without the honey. You consume plenty of sugar "with nutrition" in the berries. Don't need the almost empty calorie sweetness, well the average United States citizen doesn't unless you're "trying" to gain weight.

I had their fried chicken that comes with a potato pancake, gravy and bread, it was delicious and the service is good! Love the food there.

When in downtown Long Beach be sure to stop by The Breakfast Bar. You'll be happy you did. Warm ambiance and service with a smile. The folks take day drinking to another level. I ordered the lemon pancakes topped with a fresh fruit medley and a lemon drizzle along with a some scrambled eggs and bacon. Don't forget my tall glass of mimosa. Oh my ... everything was so good! Their menu truly has something for everyone. See you there!

I had the eggs papi and shared the pumpkin and maple pancakes. The food and service were great. The restaurant has a nice decor. I would recommend it.

Definitely worth it! The vibes are unmatched. It's a unique blend of "top notch cocktail crafting" and "beer and a hot pretzel after work." You can dress up, you can dress down, it's very 'just be yourself' which I love. I've literally had caviar AND hot dogs there in the same night at an event. They know how to blend high/low. Incredible knowledge and ingredients but not snooty patootie. Super inclusive and fun, with cool popups and events happening all the time. It's a full bar so you can get any cocktail you would normally order if you're keeping it simple, or beer, wine, boilermakers, etc. There's a span of offerings and price points, so something for everyone. (Also really good N/A cocktails!) The menu is super inventive and creative! And the cocktail menu changes out every so often so there are new things to try. This area is vintage vibes and Baby Gee speaks it fluently. Really cool decor, curated by the owners who design everything from the playlist to the cocktails to the invention of never-before-seen flavors and shapes of jello shots. And this one time I was there alone with another, no other patrons just staff members walking around from time to time. We stole the moment to dance under the Long Beach sky, just the two of us as a famous Christina Perrio song gently wafted in the night breeze. At another separate time, I was at the Los Angeles County Fair with another. We rode the ferris wheel at such a time where our gondola stopped at the top just as the sun set. The moment was nothing but beautiful and life affirming because the sinking of the sun's light was like a real life video of nature happening in front of us, unburdened by static or data stall. We witnessed nature resting, and I feel, that it was a kin to a beauty falling into a gentle sleep. These two instances have a common factor: momentary bliss arrived to bless an experience because the environment supported discovery of unplanned joy. That is what I associate with the Wicked Wolf, and this time the joy arrived eventually because when my Mom and I arrived to their high tea on Mother's Day the experienced seem like it would land nowhere good. Truth be told, my mom and I arrived 15 minutes early and there was no host in the stand and the place was empty except for a foursome. The energy felt lacked luster. One or two minutes after, the bartender informed us that we were early and the host would come soon. We sat in an available sofa for two, a loveseat persay. This gave us an opportunity to admire the decor that transported us to a storybook forest where good fairies reside, not like swamp creatures and trolls with malevolent fangs and dragon green eyes. I especially loved the large roses in the ceiling. To set the stage, the black ceiling had vines hanging from it, and the few roses were pops of crimson red displayed above. These were wonderful accents to the central mural of the joint that invited the viewer within deeper into the fairy forest where a light shone on an unseen meadow. The place had the decorations and general environment to be a lavender fairy's lounge, but, it did not fully work as a team room. For instance, my mom and I were sat in another lover's couch. Initially, I did not want to sit here because we were given circular tray sets. So imagine being told to sit in a couch, and each of us would get a tv tray. So I was left to wonder if we were going to be served tea in Belle's living room or if were going to watch a flick as we ate pollo loco bowl? But then as I settled into the tranquility of the moment, saw more people come and find their seat or couch, and as the serviced picked-up I realized that this was high tea in a place that had taken disjointed beauty and tackied it together for a patched tea experience that worked well. It was like the experienced was blessed and allowed by the same spirit that brought forth Raggedy Ann. For instance, the pictures show these pretty violet petaled tea cups and matching plates. This pairing was dainty and perfect for a tea party happening under pink veils. But then the sugar cubes came in a hedgehog shaped holder which was just as precious as seeing a piglet in a carriage built for one. Then the cream carrier was in the shape of a milk carton. I wondered where the missing child portrait was? The pastry plate was in the shape of a tropical flower like the ones scattered all over Hawaii. It belonged in a beautiful lei. Each of these elements was cute in its own delicate and whimsical way but together they made an eclectic hodgepodge, not a coherent tea set. And in this asymmetry laid the glitter of their error. The host also brought these clip on dainty hats that were perfect touches for make believe tea party. He carried them around in their original packing, including the box they came in. Not exactly the tailor of the queen, offering hats to the villagers as a gift from her to them, but still the effort magnified the moment. The tea food was the worst stumble that Red took as she was being chased by the Wicked Wolf. To begin with the end analysis, the tea offerings in general were standard, and not bites fit for a princess and her wedding court. For instance, the cream cheese and cucumber sandwich was just that---- a cucumber and cream cheese sandwich. I detected no effort to make it more than that. The blueberry scone was solid, nothing to skip through a meadow about. But once you added the jam of the table to the scone it was much easier to enjoy. I also had a madeline that was fluffy in the center but could have been purchased maybe at Costco. I had a Macaron and same thing, delicious but I have had something similar before and I suspected that it did not come from a place afloat with Parisian affairs. The best part of the tiers was this puff like thing that had like a Concha texture and design at the top. It was a sweet filled bite that was fit for a man made of muffin.

When we got there, I felt that the decorations and drinks felt a bit gimmicky, with random fairy tale-esque elements like a throne and massive red roses. I thought it would have been very cool to see Easter eggs and more intentionality bringing the atmosphere together. Since it was an hour before closing, we didn't plan to stay very long. The two people working at the bar were both unwelcoming and seemed upset that we were there (there were other people at the bar, including people who arrived later in the night than us). We paid for our drinks, which cost over $40 for 2 drinks with tip. My cocktail was $17 and came in a glass barely bigger than a shot glass. We left around the time they were calling for last call. I can understand not wanting stragglers who prevent the bartenders from closing late, but I would have much preferred being turned away at the door rather than paying and tipping for an overall unpleasant experience.

I was excited to see on the menu that they were serving Kinobi gin from Kyoto. I discovered this gin on a trip to Kyoto have since bought it regularly. To my surprise, when I saw the bartenders making the drinks they were using Gray Whale. Gray Whale is fine, but it's not in the same league at Kinobi. I realize Kinobi can be hard to find at times but If there's a substitution like that, the server should say something when you order the drink or if it's a recipe change, the menu should be updated. Speaking of service, that's what really brought me to write this re view. Before we even ordered we were told that we would only have 90 minutes. That honestly killed the vibe and made us feel rushed. Like the OpenTable confirmation even said we'd have two hours. And for tge rest of our time there our server pretty much ignored us. They forgot some of the food we ordered and shoved the check in our face when they wanted us to leave. I'm guessing they were stretched too thin? I think they need to hire another person to be a server or maybe get an extra bartender and have them wait on the people at the bar. At a bar like this service is everything. Being a Japanese themed bar you'd think they would try to copy the level of service you'd have in Japan. I just moved to the neighborhood and probably won't return after our experience.

Please keep it that way, gas is $5.97/gallon and my wallet is already in therapy.) I handed the valet a $5 tip before I even stepped out of my car, just so I could glide into the lobby feeling like a full‑blown princess making her grand entrance. Before you leave, you simply pay the valet in cash or card and they'll have your car right there before you can even blink. AMBIANCE Walk in and boom! A towering, beautifully decorated Christmas tree greets you like it's auditioning for a holiday movie. Check out my photos; the whole lobby whispers one word: sophisticated. Oooh, I love that tree! Hang a right, stroll to the end of the hall, and you'll find ALTER EGO, a dark, cozy lounge that feels like the perfect hideaway for a date where you actually want to hear each other talk. Live music starts at 7 PM, the bar closes at 10, and honestly... that's ideal for those of us over 50 who consider 10 PM the witching hour for pajamas. Rob Fontana was performing tonight, and his music was so good I found myself time‑traveling back to the good old days. Every song hit, Rob. Good job! SERVICE Our server, Nia, was a star. Attentive, sharp memory, and smooth service all the way through. Zero notes. FOOD The menu is small, so if you show up ravenous, pace yourself or plan to Uber home after a cocktail‑heavy evening. I'm allergic to cheese, so I had to double‑check ingredients, but the Mushroom Flatbread was outstanding, flavor was superb and the best part was they did not skimp on the mushrooms! A+ for that. I also tried the Prosciutto di Parma with melon, which is a strange combo for a California girl... but hey, I never said I wasn't a weirdo. Drinks are not my thing since I enjoy company without alcohol's help, so I can't help you with that. DATE‑WORTHY OR NOT? Absolutely. Alter Ego gets a double thumbs‑up from me and a strong recommendation for your next Silver Singles date. It's easy to find, the seating is comfortable (even for those of us with backs that like to complain), and they even offer tube pillows for extra support. Tell me that's not romance.

Overall, I'm so glad this is the place we chose to meet at! On a Wednesday night we were able to walk in and had no trouble getting a table for 4. The aesthetic is the standout feature of the place. The main bar is beautifully decorated and there are spacious booths to eat at as well. My favorite part was the two additional "secret" bar areas! While sitting in the main bar area you would have no idea there are additional rooms. Exploring the other rooms was a fun, unique part of the visit. The drinks were photo worthy as well as tasted great. The bar tender was attentive and adjusted my drink based on how much sweetness I like. The lychee margarita was my favorite because they light it up table side for a fun presentation! The food tasted great and was very affordable priced! Our group ordered multiple items and shared them family style, which seems to be a common approach here. The shrimp fried rice was delicious and my favorite food item. One order was plenty to share between 4 people. Per our server's request, we also tried the cucumber salad which was really refreshing and a great side. I tried the popcorn chicken but honestly they packed a kick and were too spicy for me, so be warned. In sum, the service, food, drinks, and ambiance were great and I will definitely be back!

Service was decent, didn't get quite as much attention as I would have ordered more food had someone stopped by faster. It's a really small location so it's a little bizarre that service is a bit on the slow side. That said, everything else was fantastic so it's a small sin as such things go. Overwhelmingly recommend this place, just maybe order a lot up-front so you don't end up waiting around for more. It also has 2 speakeasys attached to the "main" restaraunt, but book early as those spots are even harder to get into.

False Advertising and Total Failure of a "Speakeasy"…read more This place should not call itself a speakeasy. According to their website, they are strict about dress code, reservations, and no large parties. None of that was enforced. People arrived wearing sports clothes, tennis shoes, and flip-flops, and a group of more than 10 people was allowed in. That group was loud, drunk, and screaming, completely destroying any speakeasy ambiance. We had a reservation booked one week in advance for 2 tables of six, yet by 8:30 pm, we were told no food was available, despite the bar being almost empty. The water was already on the table when we arrived and tasted strongly of chlorine, with no ice. The waitress was clearly new, untrained, and unprepared. She did not know the menu, didn't know how to take an order properly, and provided no guidance whatsoever. There was one bartender Ricardo, who took over an hour to prepare cocktails and showed no sense of urgency or care. The dramatic cocktail descriptions sounded impressive, but the drinks did not match the descriptions at all. Because of the delays, we were never even able to properly toast or celebrate our friend. The charcuterie board took forever and arrived with an absurd amount of cheese and only six pieces of bread. To make things worse, part of the food we ordered never arrived at all. The live jazz band advertised and promised never showed up. When asked, the staff responded with: "I don't know, they were supposed to be here. I don't have their phone number." That level of disorganization is unacceptable. At the end of the night, we were shocked to receive a check close to $600 for two tables, despite each person only having one cocktail and shared food. The bartender, Ricardo, approached us and said: "Well, sorry, we really tried tonight! It wasn't the best, but we tried." Honestly, that comment made the experience even more frustrating. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if they hadn't "tried."That statement perfectly summarizes the problem -- trying is not enough when everything fails. I would not recommend this place for a speakeasy experience. This is not a speakeasy. It's a poorly run bar hiding behind a concept it does not deliver. Do not recommend.
