Shout out to Jakob for being the sweetest and most helpful server. Amazing service! We knew what we wanted - brussel sprouts, cheese curds (squeakers) with marinara and a double pepperoni & mushroom pizza with ranch and hot honey on the side. Brussels were solid. I'd definitely recommend Mooney's Pizza if you're looking for a great neighborhood spot! The restaurant has a modern style with a fun, family-friendly atmosphere that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We started with the meatball appetizer and the homemade focaccia bread served with their house made butter, both were absolutely delicious! The focaccia was fresh, warm, and so good that we couldn't stop eating it. We also shared the Tavern Burger, a flavorful smash burger cooked perfectly and served with seasoned fries that were crispy and tasty. To top it off, our table shared a large Supreme pizza, which was loaded with toppings and didn't disappoint. Overall, we had a fantastic experience. I like pizza--different styles and different interpretations. They say Mooney's serves up a Midwest-style pie. When I visit a place for the first time, I order pepperoni pizza. It gives me a baseline for comparison to other places. I chose the standard crust and cup pepperoni. Pan pizzas and flat pepperoni are also available. I enjoyed the perimeter crust. Unfortunately, the center of the pie was soggy. The sauce had a good flavor to it. The amount of cheese applied was reasonable. The amount of peperoni applied was generous. Future visits will tell if the soggy center was a one-time fluke or regular feature. This structure was once a neighborhood coffee shop. Finally got a reservation at Mooney's and it did not disappoint! For a Wednesday night it was honestly pretty lively. Our rezi was for their dining room which is a little quieter but great for babies/high chairs. To order we got the house bread, cesar salad, and two pizzas: pineapple specialty and regular cheese. Appetizers were on point! Legit cesar salad with fresh dressing. House bread stole the show. Pizzas, we actually liked the standard cheese better! It wasn't super cheesy but went perfect with ranch. First time in and came here on a whim on a Friday at 4:30. Happily found some seats at the bar and were greeting by a sleuth of friendly and helpful staff. Since we were going out after and didn't want leftovers, took the advice of our bartender and got a small pizza and an app. Perfect amount. We started with meatballs. Super flavorful but the temp wasn't as hot as you'd expect for fresh out of the oven. Would have loved for them to check with a thermometer before serving, but they were still delicious. Pizza: went with the Fancy Cheese. OMFG! This was incredible and a pizza I will be craving daily. The bottom crust had a perfect crunch when you bite into it and the outer crust, pillowy and a perfect vessel to scoop up a side of their pesto ranch. (Thanks to the staff for that rec too!) The only let down (aside from luke warm meatballs) was my beer glass. For a place that prides itself of beer and being owned by a fellow cicerone (I'm one too), was that the glass was not "beer clean". No, there should not be bubbles on the glass because that's actually microscopic dirt that the beer is clinging to. The space is so welcoming and has a great flow to it. The parking is abundant. I was craving pizza & my friend @cheftiffanythomas suggested Mooney's Pizza. Before hand she let me know this place is packed and she booked reservations. We shared a combo between 3 people total, a Cesar salad, & meatballs. Everything was savory and filling. The ambiance of this place is rather unique as well. If you crossed an episode from the hit series Cheers with a 1980's Pizza Hut; you would get Mooney's Pizza. It's rather nostalgic for the millennial crowd. With reservations we did wait about 10 to 15 mins. Keep that in mind if you're going without. We noticed right away it was crowded, and people come here in large groups as well. We were vicariously enjoying the view of the pipping hot pizzas walking out from the steamy kitchen. Everything looked so good we were already making plans on what to order for our second time around. The lighting in this establishment is very much relaxed and pleasing. Right away I noticed that the lamps were similar to those from the 1980's Pizza Hut restaurants with the stained glass. The Supreme Pan Pizza we ordered was packed with plenty of vegetables, the edges are nice and crispy as well. Though we loved the pizza we would have liked it with a bit more char on top, like the classic. We were also craving a plain sparkling water, such as a San Pellegrino, so far it has t been added to the menu. They have plenty of prebiotic sodas, beer, non-alcoholic beer, etc. The Cesar salad is fresh with plenty of romaine and grated fresh parm; with just a bit more pepper and bread crumbs it would be perfection. Mooney's Pizza is a new pizzeria on the border of East Long Beach, Los Alamitos, Cypress, and Hawaiian Gardens and it offers really good pizza in a space that's evokes the vibes of 90s pizza parlors. The pizzas are top quality as you have a nice buttery, glassy crust with a really nice bite/chew that can only come from a fully developed fermentation. I ordered a 14" pan size of their "fancy cheese" pizza, which came with a rich tomato sauce, fresh basil, and high moisture cheese. In the past five years, a bunch of really great pizzerias have set up in Long Beach; however, what's unique about this place is that you can dine in here with your family at their full-service restaurant. On Sunday night it was quite busy; however, we snagged a same-day reservation on Resy for 8:30pm. For appetizers, I also ordered their house bread and meatballs. The bread was crispy and airy and was served with an addictive calabrian chili honey butter. The meatballs were juicy from their mix of chuck, shortrib, brisket, and pancetta. The important thing is that the food was actually as good as it sounded on paper. Ultimately, that's the reason that I think that this is a great pizza spot! They have great ingredients, they aren't cutting corners with the fermentation of their breads and pizzas, they have a nostalgic space that can easily host your family or soccer team (if you make a reservation), and the quality of the pizza is great. We waited 25 minutes beyond our reservation time to get seated for our table of 2. We ordered the pineapple al pastor pizza and it came out pretty fast! It was missing something, and we realized it didn't really have any sauce. This one should come with a side of marinara or just have sauce on it in general. Otherwise, it was made well with a thin and tasty crust. Some portions of it had too much crust and not enough toppings, though. We ordered a strawberry and malt chocolate swirl frozen custard and ended up only getting served a full malt chocolate one since the strawberry thing broke. That was disappointing, and our custard was already melting by the time we got it. And nope, it wasn't comp'd. This is located on the corner of big strip mall, where are Good Will, dollar tree, and grocery market, and etc. My first impression about the Mooney' was not good. When we sat the table, little tiny gnat flies around our table. Bothering me a lot. We got the dark Lager from the bar, the same tiny bug tried to sit in our beers. Very Annoying... I asked the server we want to move other table. Even thou we moved toward left side but that bug bothered us. And also, our table itself was so tiny for our pizza orders. I wanted to test and order at least 3 different pizzas, they barely fitted on our table. Not comfortable at all. Our server forgot to bring the iced water until I paid the bill. This place I found on Instagram, and for the first time it didn't let me down! Its a decent sized place on the corner of Wardlow and Los Alamitos, with a weird way of walking into the restaurant. The restaurant is very old school looking. It reminds me of pizza joints in the 80's with those Tiffany lapshades that say Mooney's on each of them. Very cool to be taken back to the good old days. The help there is really great. We had a guy named Kyle looking after us and he filled in all the blanks that we had. My wife and I decided to keep the pizza small and try other items on the menu. One was the Buffalo wings that came in a set of eight and they were bigger than average. The Ranch dressing that came with them was good. The Caesar salad was really good too. Came in a small bowl, but there was enough for my wife and I to have enough of. Lots of cheese and the dressing was very tasteful. The pizza was the complete star of the night. We got a small pepperoni and mushroom and the crust was light but crunchy. The flavors were a beautiful symphony of the sauce, cheese, pepperoni, mushroom combined to a glorious eat. I was quite happy that they had oregano on hand, because having it on any pizza is a massive plus. The beer i wasnt too wild about. Their house lager tasted like a summer blend, which wasnt a bad thing, but it didnt come to comparison of just having a Coor's Light or Pabst Blue Ribbon. If you want to sit inside though and are sensitive to loud noises I would not suggest it. I've never had to change seating from the shear amount of noise and yelling before. The food was really good. Luckily the parking lot is large as well. We had the Caesar salad, warm olives, a small pepperoni pizza and a pineapple pizza. The salad and pepperoni pizzas were delicious. The pineapple pizza is an interesting combination that didn't really suit my taste buds. We also had custard for dessert. They had cheesecake and pistachio and we had one of each. We started off with some BBQ wings which tasted good, but had to send off 2 times because they were ice cold in the middle. The last batch of wings was crispy, crunchy, with a really good sauce. The double pepperoni pizza was the star of the show. The crust was phenomenal with perfect texture and crunch. Top it with hot honey and it really hit the spot. For dessert I had the chocolate cherry(?) custard, which was really creamy and not too sweet. Service was fantastic as well, as our server was very attentive, friendly, and did not hesitate to get us new food when we had the problems with the wings. I was excited to see Mooney's Pizza open up in a previously vacant restaurant space, so we decided to check it out about a month or so after they opened. We went on a Tuesday evening and surprisingly, it was crowded on a weekday and they had a wait list. However, one downside, is that they don't take takeout orders or accept online pickup orders. We were not planning to dine in, so that was disappointing (I was hungry). It was late and I did not have another restaurant in mind for dinner. The host suggested we try the bar to see if they could accommodate us, so my boyfriend and I sat there and was helped by Peter. We explained that we weren't planning to stay but wanted to order a pizza and take it to go. Peter said that was fine and accommodated us. He let us know their main focus right now is dine-in service, but they expect to start offering takeout in the next couple of weeks. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and two drinks that Peter recommended, one was their homemade lemonade, and the other was a canned drink (I can't remember the name), but they were really good. As we waited, Peter was great. He was very friendly, sociable, engaging, and had side conversations with us while we waited. Took about 20 or so minutes and our order was ready. We took the pizza home and it was yummy in my tummy. Overall, pizza was good and we look forward to returning. I wanted to see what the local hype was and was able to make same day reservations at 8:00 pm on a Wednesday. Parking was easy since the place is in a shared shopping plaza. The seats still had some shredded cheese on them so we had to use our napkins to brush them off before we sat down. We already decided what to order while waiting to get seated but it still took about 10 mins until our server came and took our order. They did apologize for the wait but we did notice they were chatting it up with other customers. It's great to make conversation with people but not when other customers have been waiting for awhile. It took about 40 mins until our pizzas arrived. We ordered a small supreme pizza and a small pineapple specialty pizza. Both pizzas had a crispy crust which I liked, but the rest of the pizza bottom was just soggy and flimsy. The supreme tasted like any other combo pizza and was underwhelming. The pineapple pizza had pineapple sauce, al pastor, pickled onion, and cilantro lime salsa. It tasted like a carnitas taco but in pizza form and was flavorful and unique. The interior space is well decorated and there's an outdoor patio area with heat lamps. The noise level was quite loud with everyone talking and having a great time. We tried to get reservations but failed :) So we just walked in and got a great seat at the bar!!!! The have a fantastic beer & cider menu that rotates . The pizza is fantastic. It's decorated cute with outdoor seating, Tiffany lamps, a team room It can be pretty loud . They have a few tv's for sports on. Second time here. There were 3 of us on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30. It was busy but not nearly as crazy as the last time I was there for dinner a few weeks ago. Excellent food and service. Mooney is such a a cool vibes; I see why there is always a long wait during dinner. They servers move so quick and they are soooo polite. THE PIZZA IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL OF GOOD. My boyfriend and I got a large pizza and devoured it. Perfect amount of pepperoni ; nice thin and crispy crust I like. I am a fan!! We were able to get a reservation for an 8:30pm dinner and there were some empty tables nearby so not too crowded at this time. Our server was nice and was joking around with our group. We enjoyed our pitchers of beer, apps, pizza, and custard! We started with the Caesar salad (family size) and fried cheese curds with spicy ranch. I liked both of these, but I think the pizzas were better. We got the double pepperoni with ricotta, sausage and chard, and pineapple pizzas. The double pep was my favorite, have to add hot honey, too! Sausage and chard was my second favorite. The pineapple we wanted to try because it had al pastor on it. I liked the idea of it better than it tasted. I want to come back and try other pizzas. We also tried the custard for dessert with seal salt and olive oil. Finally got to try this place and it was so worth it! My family got reservations; heard it's hard to get seated as a walk in so I recommend making reservations. I love the vintage vibe of the interior, I felt like I was on a movie set. They have a photobooth and it's so cute! I ordered the Sausage and Chard Pizza and everything about it was great! It was so flavorful and the small size was plenty for 2 people. We also ordered the brussel sprouts and everyone loved it! Don't forget to order the dips! We tried the Mooneys Ranch and Hot Ranch. I ordered the Lavender Lemonade and I wouldn't recommend it. I will; however, try the lambrusco next time. read more

We had a reservation and still ended up waiting 15-20 minutes, which is totally fine! They're super popular. The staff was all very friendly and the service was great. The restaurant is beautiful with a retro vibe and the bar looked very well planned out. We ordered 2 pizzas, 2 sodas, a Caesar salad, 2 sides of sauce, and dessert ( custard & cookie). The good: the pineapple pizza ($25) was delicious. Light, airy, and the lime cilantro salsa paired perfectly. The custard was yummy, and the cookie was perfect. The medium: the double pepperoni pan pizza ($32) came out pretty toasty, which okay, they're new and this pizza is still flavorful. There was barely any cheese though, which meant the pepperoni just fell off and you ended up with a slice of saucy bread. The crust was crunchy at least but it really needed cheese! It's also pretty loud inside just from people talking even without all of the tables full, so be prepared for that. The ugly: the ceaser salad was SO GARLICKY none of us could eat it. No mention that it was an anti Dracula salad on the menu either. We set it to the side and when the waitstaff asked if we were done we said we didn't like it and they just binned it. Really was also expecting a bigger salad for the price ($13) but since none of us even ate it ended up not mattering. The sides of sauce were also $2 and maybe 1/8 cup of sauce? Like you'd get for a side of ketchup. Lastly- the price. With tip this was over $130, which is definitely not the local pizza place vibe we were hoping for- more of a special treat once in a very long time. Not sure if we will be back or not yet but still on the fence. It's really a pretty restaurant but the price is not equivalent with the value of the food quite yet. read more

Ok; there isn't many done in pizza parlors anymore. This is a gem!!!! We need to support this family parlor! My Kids loved it, my wife (hard to please) loved it! It was a pleasure to meet Peter, he was friendly, and welcoming, and even came To The table to make sure everything was ok and give his recommendations I'm glad to see that they are staying busy and wish them loads of success. They have a basic menu with traditional item, I would love to see bbq beef ribs on there... might not be their cup of tea buuut it'll be a seller. I highly recommend this parlor read more

I've been really looking forward to try this place out and finally got the chance. We made a reservation same day for that night online , super easy! The Caesar salad was so yummy and fluffy it was delicious! For the pizza, we did a build your own small and added the toppings we wanted. I do think for my own preference, the pizza was a little too saucy but now for next time I know to ask for a little less sauce and a little more well done. Overall it was pretty good though, and we also got a Mooneys ranch to dip. The vibe of the place is really cool and the staff were super nice especially when we were asking for recommendations. I forgot to get a picture because it was just too good, but for sure we'll be going back for their frozen dessert we got a swirl of their two flavors and it was a really nice sweet treat. There has been a lot of hype and excitement over the last few months about this place opening. Reservations were strongly recommended. I got a table for 3 a week and a half out. They really do fill up! When we arrived this past Sunday there was a sign that said no walk-ins available for that night. We got seated right away. We started with the Squeakers cheese curds served with homemade ranch = delicious! I can't think of any place around here that we can get cheese curds. When I visit my sister in Minnesota we always get them multiple times because they are so dang good and we love them. We decided on the Pineapple al Pastor pizza and the Pan Pepperoni. I will say; I am not a fan of pineapple on pizza (but the other two people with me were) nor do I like al pastor.... But WOW was this pizza scrumptious. I loved the fresh cilantro on it too. The crust was outstanding. The al pastor was not like the al pastor I was thinking of, which is the crumbled type in a taco. The pan pepperoni pizza was excellent. It had a thicker crust (being a pan pizza) and it was kind of doughy but not in a bad way. We had leftovers of this one that we reheated the next day in the air fryer and it was fantastic! I was too stuffed for dessert but the other 2 got something (but of course I had to taste it). Haha Vanilla custard with olive oil and salt I did not like. All I got was a huge bite of salt. The swirl custard was good. The cookie was meh and over cooked. We will definitely be back!! read more

Great experience. My friends and I got the double pepperoni on pan crust and the pineapple on the classic crust large both were very fresh and flavorful!!! The pan crust is a bit more thick and bread like and the regular crust is almost like a Naples style or thinner in the center... both had great flavors! The ambiance of the place made me feel like it was a perfect blend of the 70's/80's with modern today touches! The service was impeccably fast!!!
