When we got into town yesterday, we ate at another restaurant that had been featured on Food Network, and unfortunately, it did not live up to the reviews. The presentation of the food was fantastic, and the plate looked amazing, but unfortunately, the taste was very disappointing. I ordered the chilaquiles, and they were way too spicy for my preference. Even putting the spice aside, the overall flavor was not good. Not everyone enjoys spicy food, and I believe restaurants should accommodate customers who prefer milder options. Offering different spice levels would make the experience better for everyone. I was only able to eat the meat and a little bit of the chilaquiles and eggs, leaving most of the food uneaten. The service was decent, and I would rate it a 7/10. Stopped by Bolero Cafe for the first time for a late brunch with my brother, and this place is so cute inside! Definitely one of those spots where you walk in and immediately take a look around. Our server, Marco, was excellent. We mentioned that it was our first time, and he told us, "I really want to make sure you feel welcome." It was such a small moment of kindness, but I really appreciated it, and I did in fact feel very welcome. The food absolutely delivered too. I had the banana French toast and the chilaquiles with both the red and green sauce, topped with short rib. Everything was really good, but the chilaquiles were probably my favorite. Also, complimentary conchas?! I love a little free treat, and these were such a nice touch while we waited for our food. They do get pretty busy, but fortunately the waitlist was only 30 minutes when we arrived on a Saturday morning, so it wasn't a terrible wait. The atmosphere of the small cafe was warm and inviting and the decor was resplendent. My friend and I ordered the Mando's hash and guava french toast to share. I didn't care for the hash but the guava french toast was excellent. The french toast was nice and crispy on the outside and perfectly fluffy on the inside. It came topped with guava sauce, lechera, cream cheese merengue, and fresh strawberries. A perfect fusion of Mexican flavors, I loved the combination of the tangy sweet guava and the rich cream cheese. I also tried their horchata latte, and it was delicious. My one minor critique is that it was very clear the staff were pushing customers to hurry along, though they were friendly about it. For example, the waiters continuously collected our plates and glasses throughout the meal without asking if we were done. That's how my horchata latte got taken away even though I still had a third of it left. The waitress had already walked away with my drink before I could even say anything. I would have been more annoyed if not for how cordial the staff were during the rest of our interactions. My partner and I were looking for a new place to try and out of 3 randomly selected places she chose Bandoleros for breakfast. It was somewhat close by so we decided to give it a shot. The line was horrible so we just chose to sit at the bar when we saw 2 open spots. We were created with complimentary Conchas which was a very nice touch. Service was fantastic, there was always someone helping you no matter if it was your server or not. It was a team effort here. I ordered the Hash, house made Jamaica and my partner ordered the chilaquiles and a coffee. Everything was really good, tasted great, and one thing I was surprised about was the cleanliness. I unwrapped my straw and the rapper was picked up. The little paper around my napkin was taken off so I could use my utensils and they instantly removed the trash. The coffee machine, counters everything was being wiped down right away. As soon as a glass or plate was done it would be removed by an employee regardless of they were your server or not. Everything was running and looking perfect in there. The ambiance was cool they were playing some Salsa music, employees were very friendly. I live very close but have been putting off trying this place due to intimidating wait times. Decided to try today (Monday) because I am off work for next few days. There wasn't too much of a wait when my family and I arrived around 11 a.m. but there were bunch of people waiting outside by the time we left. Quality of food is excellent, and this place makes almost everything in-house, even its conchas, hot sauce, and horchata. Conchas are complimentary and our table already had them before we even sat down. They tasted fresh. Cafe de Olla (regular) and House Made Horchata were excellent. Chilaquiles Verdes, which is one of its popular dishes, was packed with flavor. It doesn't come with any protein other than eggs so I added asada for $7 extra. Asada was excellent and tender. They gave me a small side of its house made hot sauce which really packed some heat and flavor. I will have to ask next time to see if they sell their hot sauce. Guava French Toast was out of this world good. Never had guava based French toast in the past so this tasted extra good. Toast was made with brioche bread and had guava sauce, strawberries, toasted coconut, condensed milk, and vanilla cream cheese. Echoed out of the former Fish in a bottle location, Bandoleros can be best described as a modern take on a brunch spot. We weren't expecting much but I do have to say the interior totally glam. Think of Miami chic with a twist of breakfast items. The banana pancakes were light and not overly sweet. The bandit burrito was tasty and the tortilla tasted homemade but it was a tad small. Mando's hash is tasty but too much potatoes. We also got their secret menu of margaritas. They were a little steep at $45 for 3 but they were delicious. We also some cafecito to go with those complimentary conchas. Again, those were delicious and that seems to be the theme. I will say that $150 for 3 people for breakfast is a little steep considering I wasn't full. Service was awesome until more customer and more workers showed up. I wasnt sure who you can ask for refills and the check because I believe our waitress had gone on break and no one seemed to took her place. They start you off with pan dulce, which is a huge plus! We got the Bulk Molcajete and it was such a great decision. It is $30 and can serve 2-3 people. I was waiting for this location to open because it's closer to me than the Huntington Beach location. It is absolutely gorgeous! I loved the decor and everything was put together well. I wish they utilized the waitlist feature for Yelp because this is one of those spots that gets super busy. One way around that is sitting at the bar. When we visited on Saturday afternoon, the wait was about an hour, but we chose the bar seating option and were seated right away. This only works well if you're a party of two though. I'm always so impressed by the staff at Bandoleros. They're so friendly and take the time to explain the menu and make recommendations. They had a special that day with mole enchiladas and our waitress was nice enough to bring us a sample of their mole to try. Food highlights: The restaurant gives you complementary Pan Dulce once you are seated. It's a nice touch and they were delicious. My wife and I have been going to their Huntington Beach location since the first week they opened. Tiare and her husband serve some of the best food around with service to match. Problem is the word got out so there is always a huge wait. This second location helps and the new digital wait list made it easier to wait since you'll get a text when you're up. This is right around the corner from the house and has been many different restaurants and this time they got it right! Very welcoming when you first walk in. Each table had Sweet Breads as opposed to salsa & chips which is nice. Bandit Burrito was spicy and delicious along with the OC Toast which included a perfectly cooked over medium egg that when cut the yolk dripped into the short ribs. I've been looking for original Flautas for some time now, they all have turned into taquitos?? Not here, the short rib was cooked perfectly and the flautas were stuffed full of this heavenly meat. We are so excited that this location is open! We came and decided to sit at the bar. When walking in, the environment is very welcoming. I want whomever decorated this restaurant to eventually help me decorate my house. We were greeted quickly and ordered some drinks. I got the cafe olla and my husband got a hot chocolate. Recently opened in Cypress! This is Bandoleros Cafe's second location, their other location being in Huntington Beach. Located at the corner of a busy shopping plaza, Bandoleros Cafe almost always has a huge group of people waiting outside on weekend mornings. After checking in with the hostess, they'll send you a text with a link to help you keep track of how many more parties are in front of you and will notify you when your table is ready. Our table was ready about 15-20 minutes after the estimated wait time, and we waited for a total of about 55 minutes on a Saturday morning around 11:00am. Once we were finally notified to come back to the restaurant, we had to wait another 10 minutes or so to be seated. We were seated at the counter, and some conchas were already waiting for us! I usually find conchas pretty dry, but these were probably some of the better ones I've had! After ordering, the food took a while to come out. We got the Atomic Burrito that has eggs, peruano beans, roasted potatoes, bell peppers, onion, ham, bacon, jack cheese, avocado, and arbol salsa. I was a little worried that the chile arbol salsa would be super spicy since it is called "atomic," so we got it on the side. The salsa definitely has a kick, but if you use it in moderation, it's not too bad! It was a tasty burrito overall and very filling! We also got the Chilaquiles. Our server asked if I wanted half and half for the sauce (Verdes and Rojos) which I thought was great, but she didn't mention that there would be an upcharge for this. This was also not mentioned anywhere on the menu, so that felt a little misleading. Their chilaquiles is on the wetter side, so the chips have mostly absorbed the sauce. I like that the chips are cut into small triangles, so it makes it easier to eat! On the chilaquiles is green tomatillo salsa/guajillo salsa, crema, queso fresco, red onion, avocado, radish, and micro cilantro. Loved that they're generous with the queso fresco! The chilaquiles also comes with beans topped with queso fresco and two eggs any style on a side plate. Now that I've tried both sauces, I think I would go with the Rojos sauce. Personally, I don't think the additional cost they charge is worth it to have both sauces for the same amount of food. read more

Came here on a Saturday mid morning. We waited about an hour to be seated, but it's handy that hobby lobby is in the same parking lot so we browsed while we waited. They said it tasted like fermented pineapple. We ordered the iced coffee - an abuelita latte and a bandito latte. The flavors were good but I would probably stick to just regular coffee next time. We also wanted to try the horchata which was delicious! Food: Banana French toast - it's literally banana bread with some sauce and berries on it. I love banana bread so I really enjoyed it; it did have walnuts in it too just fyi for any nut allergy! Chilaquiles rojo - this was really good and had some heat on it! What made this visit to Bandoleros in Cypress stand out wasn't just the delicious food--it was the exceptional service from our server, Marco. From the moment we sat down, Marco made us feel welcome. I've driven by this place multiple times and I finally had the chance to try this place. This place has a modern design with plenty of tables and booths for dine-in with some outdoor seating. I ordered the Chilaquiles Rojos and Mando Hash. Both of these dishes looked delicious after opening the to go container. The chilaquiles weren't too spicy and everything went together well. The chips still had that firm feeling, while the meat was perfectly cooked, and the sauce brought everything together. The hash was just as good. The potatoes weren't too chewy or soggy, the short rib was tender, the vegetables were perfectly, and both sauces go well with the hash. I would go here again to try the coffee or the sweet dishes. read more

This was such a FANTASTIC brunch find! Everything we ordered was so delicious, we got three dishes (Mando's Hash, Very Berry French Toast, and Short Rib Flautas) to share as well as the Abuelita Chocolate Latte (hot pictured but we also ordered Iced and they were both so yummy!) Maria was our server, she was super friendly, her and all of the staff were very attentive at checking on how we were doing. The restaurant was very clean and I love the modern decor and murals on the wall. We will definitely be back! read more

Our family of 4 came here today, a Wednesday morning around 8am! Immediately sat, ordered, coffee brought right out. Based off of previous reviewers, I would not come here on the weekend because of the wait. (Don't go somewhere popular if you don't have patience when it is busy..) But early on a weekday before any rush, it is absolutely perfect! Wonderful coffee & straight espresso. Fresh orange juice. Both of our boys ordered the kid's French toast and it was amazing. I ordered chilaquiles verdes with chorizo and WOW! No fat in the chorizo and cooked perfectly. My husband had a breakfast burrito and also said it was amazing. Beautiful ambience and music, art on the walls, and lovely private gender neutral bathrooms with a toilet and urinal (easier for me to go as a mom with two boys!). The chilaquiles were perfectly crispy with just the right amount of spice. The Cali Omelette was incredible--the chorizo was perfectly balanced with the pickled onions and fresh avocado. And don't even get me started on the margarita flight... absolutely amazing! To top it all off, we were treated to two fresh Oreo conchas, and they were absolutely delicious!
