The Club Sandwich and broccoli salad
    Rick S.

We stopped by here on a Saturday night and the restaurant was a little busy, we did get set right away. The waiter and orthers workers seem to be a little overwhelmed. The restaurant has two areas one that has a bar and the other is just tables and booths. I ordered the club sandwich, you do get a choice of bread and a side. The wasn't impressed with the club sandwich but the broccoli salad was delicious.

Oh what a disappointment my visit to the Gourmet Pie and Cafe it was. I heard many locals speak highly of the spot, so I was excited to try their pies on a Friday. Well, perhaps due to the time of visit being closer towards the end of the day, they had none of the pies I wanted available. So I settled with the key lime pie. I should have known better especially given the very artificially green looking pie. It tasted pungent and sickly sweet. I don't know why but it had an odd metallic aftertaste to it. Like I just got done gnawing on aluminum foil. I also couldn't get over the coloring. The crust tasted really awful. Like mildewy and wet graham cracker crumbles. Somehow had a very bitter aftertaste to it, too. This was probably the worst pie I have had in years. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone.

My husband and I have been coming here for a few years now--at least three times a week--and we've never had a single issue. The staff is consistently professional, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, which makes every visit enjoyable. I'm one of those people who rarely orders directly from the menu, and they are always so accommodating and happy to customize--something I truly appreciate. I highly recommend Gourmet Pie. And we can't forget their amazing pies and cookies... absolutely delicious every single time!

This was another place that we passed by several times and finally decided to stop. It's kind of hard to describe it. When you walk in there's a small bakery counter. All we were standing there, several people came in just asking for a single piece of pie to go. There are two rooms on either side. One side has a really long bar and lots of boots, and the other side has boots and tables and a cute little faux balcony on one side. The ceilings are beamed which is a nice touch. We ordered the country fried steak and a sirloin steak. Both reserved with mashed potatoes and gravy and a dinner salad. Everything was quite good. I really like the salad dressing, and I can be very picky about that. It was a pleasant dinner. Our server was very nice. I like that he offered a to go cup of my iced tea.

We had more misses than good. Portions are huuuge but the quality overall wasn't good. Country fried steak - pretty bad. It was stale and hard to bite through. The toast was stale but the boyensberry jam was great! Chicken pot pie - amazing! The best pot pie I had and it was so hot and fresh French apple pie - it came out to us pretty cold and was refrigerated before. Was pretty typical to a normal grocery store pie. It was not good when it is cold.

We stopped by on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Although the parking lot was pretty full and there were people waiting outside, there were a lot of open tables. We figure either they were waiting for people or picking up to-go orders. Definitely check out the specials if you're indecisive like I am. The booths are quite comfy and I didn't feel trapped in like most other establishments. We chose to go with a simple meal, country fried steak, eggs and potatoes, and a french toast plate. The steak was nice and moist, and eggs cooked nicely. The french toast was a lot bigger than i expected, but was good, sweet and moist, although I wasn't a fan of the sausage patty. We rounded out our meal with a slice of pie. We were pretty full, but there's always room for dessert...especially since Pie is already in the place's name. No ragrets, not even one letter! The crust complimented the filling very well. We'll definitely be back to try the other items kn the menu!!! The deduction in stars is based on the service itself.....we did have to wait a while to get someone's attention, and our server filled my soda cup with water, after i told him twice it was soda. I would recommend getting a different color or style glass for soda or the water so there is no future confusion. Everyone was wonderful, just not on the attentive side.

This restaurant has been here for years and I finally came around to visit. I was really looking forward to breakfast. Unfortunately I didn't know they didn't serve it all day. Even more we missed it by a few mins. We quickly got seated and drinks were prompt. Super friendly staff. I must really say our server (I forgot her name, ugh) was truly an excellent server..She went out of her way to answer my questions and even went to the cook and gave me a sample of the chile Verde which I was contemplating on ordering. I ordered coffee first and it was very good. Pricey for coffee since it's a regular cup size. Not sure why? Lunch menu wasn't too appealing but I chose the Chili Verde wet burrito. The burrito was nearly $20 it was filling and flavor was good tomatillos green sauce. I did ask for corn chips hope to have a crunch with the burrito to balance texture but they don't have that on the menu. Next on order was a tri tip salad with a creamy something dressing. Salad was great the dressing was very tart. Again our server (super attentive )even asked cooked style for beef. We saved room for dessert. I walked up to see the window of desserts just to see what caught my eye. I asked an employee if all were baked in house he said yes. I asked about all the cakes and jam he said yes. I went back to our table and as I was asked from our server what type of dessert would I like, I picked coconut cake. To only find out cake isn't always available.(Kinda thought maybe the server I asked about the baked goods would have told me? Like yes all in house baked however we do not carry cake at all times, or we don't have any today sorry?) So I ended up choosing a peach crumble. Super dissatisfied there was a uncooked visual of the pie crust where filling was stuffed. I asked the server she said let me ask and came back with that's the cream part that's added. Hmm? Dough was very light uncooked looking. I had a few bites and left most of it. Until I looked up and my bf added it to his old fashioned sundae. Which was served in a classic style glass. Overall I wasn't too pleased with my first visit. But I will try breakfast bc the menu and photos of previous guests have caught my attention. Our server also made it worth a trip back

We remembered how much we loved the desserts last year when we came with friends and this time wanted to get breakfast. I ordered the California Benedict ($19.50) and my husband got the Pancake Breakfast ($17.95). My fruit bowl was very nice with a variety of nicely cut fruit, even some kiwi and banana which is rare in a fruit bowl. My Benedict had a couple black olives on it inexpicably but was very delicious. Pancakes were deemed good by my husband, the Le Pancake Connoisseur. We were so full after breakfast, all desire for desserts went out the window.

We have eaten here more times than I can count. Never a bad meal. I've had Steak & Lobster for Valentine's Day & Mother's Day, I've loved the Irish Nachos, Nashville Hot Sliders, Blackened Salmon Salad, BBQ Chicken Salad, Hamburgers, Spaghetti, etc. We've ordered the turkey dinner the night before Thanksgiving a few times and had leftovers on Thanksgiving. I had heard Gourmet Pie had a new owner. Why would you buy a restaurant and not keep the same recipes? MAYBE just maybe they have been serving this sub-standard chicken for awhile....who knows? I did have the Deno's chicken many years ago, before COVID and remembered it being pretty good. Posting a pic of my hospital food along with my partially eaten Deno's chicken from here. I spent Monday night in the hospital with the flu. Surprisingly their pan fried chicken with mashed potatoes was DEE-licious! I would have expected the same from my beloved Gourmet Pie. It was almost inedible. Appears they buy frozen, "pre-grill marked" chicken and maybe even microwave it???? What a waste of money. With so many good places to eat, I'm not sure we will be back. I miss delicious food, dinner with 12 (or more) of our closest friends, pie for dessert and always great service from so many wait staff, particularly our beloved shift manager, Juan. The owner needs to quit apologizing and fix this, while you can still right this ship! ***I never dreamed I would be craving hospital food!

After we graduated, we promised to have a little reunion here as adults when we were old enough to drink. This little reunion happened recently. My little sister, who is 17, knew I was meeting my friends for dinner and asked if she could come. Since I knew we would be drinking, I called the restaurant ahead of time to ask if she could sit with us since she wouldn't be drinking. They said no. If we were drinking, she couldn't be there. I thought it was unfortunate, but I told my sister she couldn't come to dinner with us. But what was really annoying is that after we ordered alcohol, our server didn't card us. I went out of my way to uninvite my sister because they said she couldn't be there, and they didn't even check. I thought it was a dumb rule in the first place, but it was really annoying that they didn't even enforce it after I went out of my way to ask. The pork belly skewers were really good. I can see why we used to come all the time as kids. Smoky and crispy. There's a big super traditional looking grill at the front of the restaurant, so I guess they're super serious about their skewers. The okonomiyaki was good too. We decided to try the rose tteokbokki since it was a new menu item, but we were unimpressed. There were barely any toppings inside. We also got the steamed squid, but I thought it was a bit overcooked. We might've stayed a little longer, but the sight of a cockroach climbing on our table sent a chill down our spines. We told a server that we saw a cockroach, but she just stared at us blankly and walked away without doing anything. After that, we had serious issues about the perceived cleanliness of the restaurant and left immediately.  I'm disappointed. In the end, I didn't get the warm and fuzzy nostalgic feeling I was yearning for. I think there were several interactions with the workers that they could have handled better. I cleared my little side quest, so I don't think I have a reason to ever return.

Apparently this establishment wants people to go digital which I GREATLY resent as I am an analogue guy and I do not want to go digital!!!!! This is the one and only reason why I am giving such a low grade. Men's washroom was clean and had paper towels available... good. I ordered the cheeseburger and shake combo deal. The burger was quite good as were the French Fries and the chocolate shake was excellent. My mother ordered the lamb and was very satisfied though she took most of it home. Normally I would automatically give the lowest score possible if a sit down restaurant lacks a written paper or laminated menu or if an establishment forces me to use a kiosk to place an order. However I requested a sample of Biltong and the waitress honoured that request. For this reason I am adding an additional point for a total of two points instead of the one point that I would have otherwise awarded. If a letter grade was assigned as is done in school, this establishment would get a D. NOTE: If this establishment had a paper or laminated menu available, I would have awarded four out of five possible points which would have equated to a letter grade of B. The reason I would not have given a perfect score is because I noticed that some of the guys who work at this establishment wore their shirts untucked which I consider to be highly unprofessional.
