So I've finally had the chance to sit down and enjoy a meal here and I was utterly blown away at how delicious everything I ordered was. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger on sourdough with onion rings and an Arnold Palmer (more lemonade than tea). God, the service from my server Sarah was amazing too. The overall ambience and atmosphere knocked me off my socks too. Absolutely shocked how juicy the burger was, then again I did order it medium rare. The highlight of my meal were the onion rings. I had the feeling that they were double battered, breaded, and then fried. Felt like I died and went to heaven as I ate those onion rings. The food gets 5 stars Onto the most important highlight of my experience eating here, my wonderful and amazing server, Sarah. She was awesome and gave me a full rundown of all of the sides, sauces, cheeses that could come with my burger. Loved her warm attitude and running commentary as I ordered. Knowing that she loved the Arnold Palmer and bacon cheeseburger with onion rings made me feel like I made the right choice. Pretty cool to have a server with similar tastes in food. Also, she helped move my walker out of the way so it wouldn't block the flow of foot traffic. Kudos to her for that too. She'll probably be my favorite member of the wait staff if I ever come back for lunch again. Overall, a sweet girl with the right attitude. 5 stars for her amazing service. Finally, the overall appearance and ambience of the restaurant made me feel like I stepped back into my childhood in the 2000s. Came here with a party of nine, they were quick to accommodate (although they didn't have the reservation in the system that we had called in two days prior, and there was some visible quibble between the servers as to who was going to take us) and were more than friendly the entire time. The food was... ok... Some mistakes made on the orders, and a few in the party just weren't pleased with their orders - in particular with the fish and chips, they both said it seemed like it was frozen and whipped up quick - the texture and taste was off. My order was the roast beef melt with chillies. It came with the roast beef and chilies, but then had sauerkraut and thousand island dressing, like the chef just lost track of what he was making half way through? I lived with it as we had already waited to start eating as there was an error between salad and sandwich for another order, and I was hungry and didn't want to hold things up further. Ok where do I start. We came here on mother's Day, because a lot of restaurants in the area had long wait times. I've been here years ago and suggested this to my family. We arrived, and settled in a booth rather quickly. This is where everything started going downhill. My mother and I got the chicken fried steak with potatoes and corn. My wife got the top sirloin with potatoes and asparagus. Kids got spaghetti and mini sliders. It was 2pm at the time and were given options of soup or salad. The three adults selected soup. My mom and I got tortilla soup and my wife wanted Italian vegetable soup. After a few minutes, the waitress comes back and states to my wife and I that cream corn and asparagus were not ready yet. She stated my mother's selection of butter corn was fine, but we had to select between mixed vegetables, broccoli, or spinach. I stated I don't like broccoli, and selected spinach. My wife selected the mixed vegetables. Once the food came out. My mom who selected buttered corn. Was told by the server that corn was not available so they auto selected mixed vegetables for her. Now let's get down to the food. The gravy for the country fried steak still had a strong flour taste (like they quickly whipped up some gravy without letting the flour mix properly in the gravy. The spinach was bland as if the quickly blanched it without seasoning anything. The food was so subpar non of us finished anything. I would not recommend this place. They obviously did not prepare for mother's Day crowds and demand. We did not appreciate the auto substitution and just are what we could. I will not revisit this establishment again. Oh what a disappointment my visit to the Gourmet Pie and Cafe it was. I heard many locals speak highly of the spot, so I was excited to try their pies on a Friday. Well, perhaps due to the time of visit being closer towards the end of the day, they had none of the pies I wanted available. So I settled with the key lime pie. I should have known better especially given the very artificially green looking pie. It tasted pungent and sickly sweet. I don't know why but it had an odd metallic aftertaste to it. This was another place that we passed by several times and finally decided to stop. It's kind of hard to describe it. When you walk in there's a small bakery counter. All we were standing there, several people came in just asking for a single piece of pie to go. There are two rooms on either side. One side has a really long bar and lots of boots, and the other side has boots and tables and a cute little faux balcony on one side. The ceilings are beamed which is a nice touch. We ordered the country fried steak and a sirloin steak. Both reserved with mashed potatoes and gravy and a dinner salad. Everything was quite good. We stopped by on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Although the parking lot was pretty full and there were people waiting outside, there were a lot of open tables. We figure either they were waiting for people or picking up to-go orders. Definitely check out the specials if you're indecisive like I am. The booths are quite comfy and I didn't feel trapped in like most other establishments. We chose to go with a simple meal, country fried steak, eggs and potatoes, and a french toast plate. The steak was nice and moist, and eggs cooked nicely. The french toast was a lot bigger than i expected, but was good, sweet and moist, although I wasn't a fan of the sausage patty. We rounded out our meal with a slice of pie. We were pretty full, but there's always room for dessert...especially since Pie is already in the place's name. No ragrets, not even one letter! The crust complimented the filling very well. We'll definitely be back to try the other items kn the menu!!! The deduction in stars is based on the service itself.....we did have to wait a while to get someone's attention, and our server filled my soda cup with water, after i told him twice it was soda. This restaurant has been here for years and I finally came around to visit. I was really looking forward to breakfast. Unfortunately I didn't know they didn't serve it all day. Even more we missed it by a few mins. We quickly got seated and drinks were prompt. Super friendly staff. I must really say our server (I forgot her name, ugh) was truly an excellent server..She went out of her way to answer my questions and even went to the cook and gave me a sample of the chile Verde which I was contemplating on ordering. I ordered coffee first and it was very good. Pricey for coffee since it's a regular cup size. Not sure why? Lunch menu wasn't too appealing but I chose the Chili Verde wet burrito. The burrito was nearly $20 it was filling and flavor was good tomatillos green sauce. I did ask for corn chips hope to have a crunch with the burrito to balance texture but they don't have that on the menu. Next on order was a tri tip salad with a creamy something dressing. Salad was great the dressing was very tart. Again our server (super attentive )even asked cooked style for beef. We saved room for dessert. I walked up to see the window of desserts just to see what caught my eye. I asked an employee if all were baked in house he said yes. I asked about all the cakes and jam he said yes. I went back to our table and as I was asked from our server what type of dessert would I like, I picked coconut cake. To only find out cake isn't always available.(Kinda thought maybe the server I asked about the baked goods would have told me? Like yes all in house baked however we do not carry cake at all times, or we don't have any today sorry?) So I ended up choosing a peach crumble. Super dissatisfied there was a uncooked visual of the pie crust where filling was stuffed. I asked the server she said let me ask and came back with that's the cream part that's added. Hmm? I ordered the California Benedict ($19.50) and my husband got the Pancake Breakfast ($17.95). My fruit bowl was very nice with a variety of nicely cut fruit, even some kiwi and banana which is rare in a fruit bowl. I've had Steak & Lobster for Valentine's Day & Mother's Day, I've loved the Irish Nachos, Nashville Hot Sliders, Blackened Salmon Salad, BBQ Chicken Salad, Hamburgers, Spaghetti, etc. We've ordered the turkey dinner the night before Thanksgiving a few times and had leftovers on Thanksgiving. I had heard Gourmet Pie had a new owner. Why would you buy a restaurant and not keep the same recipes? MAYBE just maybe they have been serving this sub-standard chicken for awhile....who knows? I spent Monday night in the hospital with the flu. Surprisingly their pan fried chicken with mashed potatoes was DEE-licious! I would have expected the same from my beloved Gourmet Pie. I read several reviews both good and bad about Gourmet Pie & Cafe but my Mom really likes this establishment so we decided to come and give it a try ourselves. Thankfully we decided to try because the food was delicious, service was excellent provided by Jose, and the portion size pretty large. Prices are fair and not overly expensive compared to other nearby breakfast restaurants so this was a definite win win. Parking may be a little tight but it seemed to open up pretty quickly. I've been coming here for years. My last two visits here were not good. About two months ago I met a friend here for dinner and beers. For that visit, the service was terrible. We got seated and got beers right away. After that the server wasn't around for quite awhile. We ended up just asking someone else if they could take our order and they did. The food came and finally the original server showed up again. He wasn't on break or anything because I could see him going around to other tables just not us. For the food. I'm a creature of habit. I always get the New York Cheesesteak with the homemade potato chips and a side of blue cheese dressing. The meat in my cheesesteak sandwich was tough and fatty. This sandwich has always been good but not this time. That was kind of two strikes for this place in one visit. Today my wife wanted to go here for lunch. I ordered the same thing as usual. This time, there wasn't enough meat to fill the whole sandwich and again it was terribly tough. So much so, I couldn't even chew some of it and had to spit it out. To top that, my homemade potato chips were very undercooked and floppy. There might have been only four or five that were crispy. I'm gonna go with a 3 star review for this place because I've been there twice and once was great and once was not great, so it's average. The first time was for breakfast and I thought it was great. I am constantly looking for go to diner for breakfast, and we came to Gourmet Pie and Cafe because of Instagram. It was really busy and we had to squeeze 4 people into a tiny booth, but the food was really good. I got the banana pecan pancake and thought it was really good. We went around 11am so my husband got the pozole and it came in a huge bowl and was very tasty. When we came back for lunch several months later, I was not as impressed. I got a french dip sandwich and my husband got the fish and chips. His came with a ton of fish and fries but the fish was only so so. My sandwich was also kinda bland, definitely nothing to write home about. I think the worst part about our last visit was that our waitress was basically non-existent. I guess it was busy so we were sat in the bar area, which was fine. Maybe they were short staffed, not busy, but we had to flag her down if we wanted anything, and it took a really long time to get our food from the kitchen. If I come back, I will definitely come for breakfast only. Oh, and for pie. read more

We ate here today on January 1, 2026, and interestingly enough, we were also here exactly one year ago, which makes the comparison impossible to ignore. The food quality is decent--no real complaints there. Everything tasted fine, was prepared properly, and came out as expected. This place does what it does reasonably well. That said, the pricing has gotten out of control. Last year, I specifically mentioned in my Yelp review that prices felt high. At that time, the BLT was $15. Fast forward exactly one year, and that same BLT is now $18--same sandwich, same portion, same experience. I will note that the onion rings are very good. I understand inflation is real and prices are up everywhere, but this kind of jump for the exact same meal really negatively impacts the overall dining experience. It starts to feel less like paying for quality and more like being taken advantage of. I gave this place 3 stars but they really should get about a 2.8 but Yelp doesn't give that option. If their prices were better, they would get 3.5 stars. Would I come back? Maybe--but not without thinking twice when I look at the menu. read more

Alas the end of an era! We have been fans of Gourmet since they were at the first location on Ball Road many years ago. The service has been really falling since the original owner sold. The last three times we've gone food has come out piecemeal. Today we had to search out the server to find out why two of the five orders had not been delivered. They were sitting in the kitchen. They also have added a 18% automatic tip and don't mention it. They really need front of house management. It seems like the bar has fallen off lately also! Two stars is just for the worst the burger I've ever had in my life.The San Francisco melt which consisted of a 4 ounce burnt hockey puck on burnt sourdough bread. I ate it because I was hungry. I should've ordered an entree. For the same price, my sister had delicious meatloaf, two sides and soup. I had a horrible burger and crappy fries for almost the same price.. Was worried when I drove up to meet a friend here because there were some people waiting outside the restaurant and the parking lot was pretty full. Luckily, I found a parking spot in the back and as many people as there were waiting, my wait was less than 15 minutes. Went on a Saturday morning at 8am. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict. She said it was cooked to perfection. I ordered the country steak and eggs and it was surprisingly yummy. I've had it at many other places but theirs was pretty good. I've been here countless times since it's my old stomping ground, and it never disappoints. The food is always hot and delicious, and the service is exceptional.
