I thought I had reviewed Volcano Burger a long time ago, it's one of my favorite burger joints ever! Discovered this place a few years back looking for a hidden spot to frequent. It's always a packed line and people usually in the front ordering and filling up their eating area, I'd recommend grab and go here. The burgers are amazing, big in size, taste better than fast food style, more like the entry level restaurants. I'm a big fan of their fries and fried Zucchini. Got the onion rings this time, it's always overflowing in portion to the serving sleeve. Decided to switch up the Lava Burger with the Fish Burger, it's good to go! Didn't order a shake this time but usually do, they're big servings and the same quality as the rest of the menu. If you're in the surrounding area looking for drive-thru, consider trying this place out. Makes a quick meal seem more satisfying than chain establishments. read more

Do not get the pastrami sandwich Worst pastrami sandwich I've ever had bread was soggy, meat was tough and chewy, way too much mustard, they also do not carry Swiss cheese... If the Hat is a 10, then this is a 2 at best This is their most expensive sandwich at $12.99, and so far the worst thing on the menu I have tried. I ended up throwing over half of it away. Stick with the burgers here. read more

Volcano Burger is absolutely one of my favorite spots, hands-down! They truly have it all, from burgers and sandwiches to tacos, a gyro wrap, and even corn dogs. Plus, they offer huge salads if you're in the mood for something lighter. You name it, they probably have it. I've never had a bad experience here. We usually swing through the drive-through, which can sometimes be a bit of a wait, but they manage to move things along pretty quickly. The only time I actively avoid Volcano Burger is when the high school across the street lets out because it does get pretty packed. Living close by, this is definitely our go-to place when my husband and I can't decide where to eat because they offer such a wide variety. I especially love that they have Mr. Pibb to drink, and the staff is always incredibly friendly and nice. Highly recommend! read more

We have been here more than a dozen times. We usually would just burgers and fries for lunch. You can order ahead on the phone. They also have a drive thru. Food here is descent and fast. Price is reasonable too. Friendly service. read more

Went for Dinner last night for the second time.This time I got the chili cheese burger and the wifey got a cheeseburger and chicken strips for the one at home. Everything is solid and delicious. Takes a bit cause all food is cooked to order.The guy helping last night made fell like family agreeing with my choice of a chili burger and said that was probably gonna be his dinner as well. I really wanted to love this place since it is so close to my church, but I was a little put off by my visit. The food was tasty, so I will give them that. We ordered two colossal burgers, regular fries, and chili cheese fries. My burger did not come with cheese as I had asked, so I went up and grabbed a slice and added it myself. Not a huge deal, but it did take away from the experience a bit. The pastrami was great, the burger had a lot of flavor, and their ranch definitely passed the test. The biggest issue here is the parking. The lot is very small, and once a rush hits, you are stuck. We sat there for about 30 minutes trying to get out, and my boyfriend ended up going through the drive-thru line just to exit. It was pretty frustrating. That is really my only gripe, though. I am sure we will be back. read more

Not your standard quick bite, this local gem is a non-chain fast food spot with a drive-through, a walk-up window, and outdoor seating. While you might assume it thrives only on visits from the high school across the street, the truth is revealed at dinner time -- when cars line up into the street for a taste. We are from out of town and this is a definite have to go yearly visit for us. Some of our repeat go-tos include the chocolate shake, chili cheese fries, crispy chicken strips, classic corn dogs, zucchini fries, and the always-refreshing Orange Bang. read more

This is an underrated spot, great quality burgers, staff are friendly and welcoming, service was fast, and you can dine in or take out. Dollar for dollar this is one of the burger options you will find and the burgers, fries, and shakes are all items I'd recommend. I will be back. read more

I have been going here since I was a little girl. Drive 30 minutes just for a burger here. Went two weeks ago...no gloves for food handling. One person touched the back of someone's shirt then handled food. Anothrr touched their hair! I saw hand sanitizer but no one used it while I waited. Extremely concerned. They have 10 violations from their march check...all for cleanliness or food handling! Dress looks concerning...i may question returning until yelp shows a clean pass with proper procedures in place. Even with gloves on you can't go around touching other people, your hair, etc... read more

If you're looking for a local, mom & pop burger stand, look no further. Volcano Burgers is literally a walk up window, order, sit outside under covered seating, or drive-thru and take it home. There is no inside seating. It's across from Los Alamitos High School, so I'm sure it gets busy. Fortunately, we stopped by during a non-busy NYE morning, so there was plenty of parking. The junior cheeseburger was the perfect amount, but the bun is seedless. The half order of zucchini fries were huge and delicious. Can't imagine how much bigger the regular order would be. Chili cheese fries were plentiful and good. Come hungry as the portions are a healthy amount. read more

Just Waited in the long drive thru- line just for lightly seasoned fries and ranch dressing, I confirmed with the cashier that there was ranch in the bag with the fries and she assured there was. I drive home and sure enough no ranch. Totally disappointed read more

The only reason for the poor rating was a result of my experience. My husband and I went this evening to eat. We went through drive through and requested a bacon cheeseburger, fried burrito, Junior cheeseburger and French fries. We drove home only the find there were no French fries. The order taker did not take the correct order and it wasn't a pleasant experience which is a shame because the food is good. read more

I tried giving this place a second chance. I ordered onion rings to go. When I got home and bit into one it tasted and smelled like fish. They need to stop using the same oil to fry everything or at least change it out once in a while. This is the second time. Sorry to say there won't be a third. Crossed it off my list of burger joints we patronize. read more

Drove through the driveway for lunch today & I was shocked owner/manager allows employees to wear whatever. The employee with glasses at drive through window was wearing very short shorts with her butt cheeks hanging out. There's a place for that but at fast food place ? That isn't a good look for the business unless it doubles as a strip club or Asian coffee shop. read more

Great food with huge portions and friendly service ! This little place was here in Los Al for so long from back in my high school days. I was not able to try cuz I wasn't brave enough to order by myself :( But since I am a fully grown adult with own car was able to try couple of items. Burgers! Juicy patties and fresh veggies ! Steak sandwich has tender juicy steak and it really hit the spot. Zucchini fries and onions rings are huge and well deep fried (but extra charges for extra ranch). Only thing I did not like was their chocolate milkshake. It only had hint of chocolate. I definitely recommend this place but be aware this place gets busy! Tiny parking lots and lots of cars in for drive thru. read more

Best zucchini fries money can buy. Good portions that taste amazing. Everyone who works there is extremely nice. I even got a volcano burger shirt. And They don't sell shirts! Went here on a Friday for lunch with coworkers. Got the lava burger and zucchini fries. The lava burger was ok but the zucchini fries! Delicious. Had some of my coworkers onion rings too. Yum. They gave us so much ranch dressing. It was amazing. The French fries were nothing to write home about. Apparently they're good if you order them seasoned? Maybe next time... 3.5 stars. The burger here is solid. Def would come back and get it again. Everything else though not to keen on. The chili fries are pretty terrible. The milkshake is ok. Prices are reasonable. Place gets really busy during lunch during the week while school's in. I would have loved this place back in HS. read more

We have been looking for some good chili fries and was recommended this place by someone. The chili fries were really good and I also had a chicken fried steak burger which was delicious. Definitely will be back the only problem is parking. We found a spot right out front so we were lucky but it looks like you could get stuck in that parking lot if the line gets too long which both times we went there it was very long line through drive-thru read more

I find myself confused as to why somebody would make the considerable investment in time and money to open a restaurant pand then serve french fries like that. I guess I'm just old and I remember when every hamburger stand could make delicious crispy french fries every time.

Not wanting to choose one of the two eateries I chose each of the past two years, I went with The Stand to see if I can give them the 4th star that I've been trying to give them for the past year or two. The final verdict? No, unfortunately. This year, I was in a rather unique situation where I also had the option to double my party size, and The Stand had catering packages that would feed both party sizes: The Feast for 10 to 20 people, and The Big Feast for 20 to 40 people. But don't think The Big Feast is twice the size of The Feast; rather, the only difference is an additional platter of 20 half sandwiches/wraps. Otherwise, both will have a platter of 20 half sandwiches/wraps, a large gourmet salad, a large side, and a cookie/brownie platter. After much deliberation, I went with The Feast with Meyer Lemon Broccolini and a Sidekick of Chinese Chicken Chop Salad with Chips & Guac. I chose all this to avoid the need for flameless heating kits since I wasn't sure how they'd work. I was drafting an email to the catering team to add some supplementary instructions I overlooked initially, but after the FIRST15 to 20 minutes following submission of my order, Sydney from the Catering team gave me a call to ask for clarification on some details based on my email communication. Really appreciate how punctual she was at this, and she was happy enough to send out an updated invoice. However, I learned from Sydney that the Meyer Lemon Broccolini would need a flameless heating kit even though the catering website did not mention that. In fact, during my email communication prior to placing my order, I pointed out that the Meyer Lemon Broccolini and Red Ginger Green Beans weren't listed as vegetarian despite being vegetables, and they confirmed they were indeed vegetarian, but not vegan. I noticed these oversights were immediately addressed after I brought them to their attention. However, their website still indicates their cookies are vegan when they are not; I'm not going to bother with another email at this point lol. I had given them two weeks' notice for my order, knowing that the catering team can change it on their end. I didn't want just one flameless heating kit, so I decided to switch out the Chips & Guac for the Mac & Cheese, which is about $13 more. I arrived about 10 minutes before my scheduled pickup time, and I saw my catering order out in the open on a table where any customer could just grab it and go. Luckily, there were only a few customers inside, and when I stopped by my order, Kim came out to greet me. We recognized each other even 8 to 9 months after those technical difficulties spelled out in my last review update. I asked her to review my order with me before leaving, but when she said "Chips & Guac", the abstract record in my mind came to a screeching halt. I asked to see the invoice, and it was the older version from before I made the switch. I later found out they had printed my invoice too early even though their catering team said I could decide as late as the day before. Luckily, Kim checked the kitchen and needed only about 5 more minutes for the side of mac & cheese to be ready. She also let me keep the chips & guac even though she initially said she could swap it out, so that was nice at least. I also appreciate how they waited until my arrival to make a custom grilled cheese sandwich for my vegetarian guest, who enjoyed said sandwich. I also asked to put that guest's name on the box so I could tell easily. However, my abstract record cacophonously halted again when Kim asked me to pull up to the front door so they could load my order into my car. I had parked close by and previously requested for at least one employee to help me carry my order to my car. However, I would highly recommend a different means of labeling these sandwiches/wraps. As an example, I tried to grab a Chimichurri Steak Wrap only to find out it was actually a Falafel Wrap, which was the only vegetarian option in the platter. Good thing I got my vegetarian guest that grilled cheese sandwich! Lastly, if you've managed to make it to the end of this review, I'll let you know there's a discount code for customers placing a catering order for the first time. All the flavors and textures blend so well together. The veggie burrito, which I got without bell peppers, added bacon was also really good. Never thought of adding grilled onions in a breakfast burrito, and now it's gonna be the only way to breakfast burrito, SO good! There's a variety of salsas to choose from, the mild red salsa is very fresh and flavorful. The cilantro creama is creamy and delicious. These burritos are huge, y'all. It probably weighs 3 lbs each, so definitely come hungry. They also have a lunch menu with hot dogs and burgers, served after 11:30am. I'm definitely a fan of LJs and will be back for sure.

Make sure to ask about Jack's Roast, there is a story to it.
