Today I wanted to try somewhere new for breakfast, on my quest to find a replacement burrito for my beloved Jerry's that closed last year. This place opened a little over a year ago last summer, and it's only a few blocks away. Was a perfect day out so decided to finally check this place out. It's a walk-up order style, they give you a number and you find a table. I ordered the regular breakfast burrito. It was cut in two halves which I liked, you could see all the delicious goodness inside. The tater tots really add a nice texture to it, was very satisfying. And the fresh pico de gallo and green salsa was so delicious and in the cutest little container to pour it from. I also ordered an iced house special latte, wow you could taste the cinnamon right away but the best part was the unexpected dash of salt in the foam! Reminded me of ice cream. My friend got the savory pancakes, they looked really fluffy. I stole a piece of her bacon, really thick slices, perfect amount of crisp. It was a nice day out, so we sat outside where they have about 8 tables. Unfortunately, there were some dog owners that were not able to get their dog to stop barking which made eating there less enjoyable. I love dogs, and there were many other dogs there on good behavior. There were not any tables open inside or we would have moved, they have AC inside which felt great. Everything we ate was fantastic. The food comes out as it's ready. First, we got our pastries delivered. Then my burrito came, then pancakes. We got our coffees last which leads me to believe a lot of people come here just for the coffee. Next time I need to try the banana espresso!!! That avocado toast looks pretty delicious too. This place was SO good! I had the bulgogi ciabatta sandwich with a side salad and the Dubai iced latte, and everything was packed with flavor. The bulgogi was delicious, but that salad dressing?! Such a solid brunch spot!! My friend and I stopped by around noon on a Wednesday and it was not busy at all. This restaurant was self seating and you had the option to order your food through their kiosk or at the register. We chose the kiosk & after ordering, you took a number, seated yourself, and the food was brought to you. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The ambiance was cozy and perfect for a group hangout or 1-on-1. The lady who helped us out was super friendly too! Only thing to note was that it's street parking to get here, so plan accordingly. My friend and I got their Lazy Loaded Fries and Breakfast Burrito--the total came out to ~$30. The burrito was flavorful, the fries were saucy and crispy, and it was overall such a delicious brunch meal. We went on a whim on a late Saturday morning and at first, it seemed too busy and the line seemed too long but we waited only about 5-7 mins to order and you are seated once you order and pay so don't be intimidated by the line when you first go inside. This place is great for meet-ups and groups that want to settle their own tab because you order first, pay, then are seated. (They help you find seating!) Parking: 7/10. This is a residential neighborhood and from what I saw, there was no parking lot so we had to find street parking. Facility: 9/10. The place isn't huge but it has indoor and outdoor seating. Flies may be an issue but I always bring eucalyptus spray to ward them away. The place was busy but they did a good job keeping it clean. Bathroom was clean! Food: Beef Bulgogi breakfast burrito: 9/10: I love breakfast burritos (I don't eat pork) but I hate fatty meat but was told it wasn't too fatty and it wasn't too bad. Very tasty and the pico was fresh and a perfect addition. I loved the crispiness of the tots inside and the flavors meshed well together. I would get this again! Side of turkey bacon! 10/10! For those that don't eat pork, this was a win. We didn't see it on the menu but I asked and they said they have it! Yaay!!! Croissant French toast: 8/10: this wasn't really traditional French toast (wasn't cooked in eggs). It was a croissant dipped in coconut milk with fresh fruit and whipped cream. I'm not a fan of the coconut taste so it wasn't my favorite but hubby seemed to like it. Drinks: Iced blueberry matcha xtra sweet & xtra blueberry flavor w/almond milk: 10/10. This establishment took over the former Seabirds restaurant in Long Beach, and im happy to report its pretty good! I'm including a 4/5 just because I do wish they had more vegan options. They have a lot of vegetarian options (I just wish I could get the veggie burrito, but im allergic to egg, so wish they had vegan option :) ). Anyway, we got the margarita pizza (14.50$), which was perfect for two and a delicious option- simple and flavorful and the dough was really good! THIS PLACE RIGHT HERE!!! All surrounding brunch spots... meet your match. This family-owned gem is about to take over the downtown brunch scene. My family and I stopped in on a Saturday around 10 a.m. The place was already packed with a line out the door, but don't let that scare you. The wait moved fast, and the staff ran that dining room like a well-oiled machine while somehow making you feel like you were a guest in their home. You order at the front, grab your number, then impatiently wait for greatness. Right away, the baristas were brewing, shaking, and stirring up some of the best drinks I've had in a long time. Matcha, mochas... Starbucks could NEVER. I ordered the banana strawberry matcha and an iced mocha. While I was at the counter, I obviously had to grab pastries because... self-control wasn't invited. The display alone had me ready to order 14 of 'em. I went with the tiramisu cookie, guava croissant, and strawberry cream croissant. Now for the main event. There were four of us, so naturally we ordered enough food for a small village. Savory pancakes, a bulgogi breakfast burrito with fries, steak and eggs, another breakfast burrito, and the Thai pizza. Yep. We came to eat. While we waited, I took in the atmosphere. The entire place felt warm and inviting. Sunlight poured through the windows, giving it the feeling of eating breakfast on your family's back patio. Just laughter, clinking forks, happy conversations, and those little "mmm" moments happening at every table. That's always a good sign. The Thai pizza hit the table first. Fresh out of the oven and straight to Flavor Town. The crust had to be handmade because there was no way something that good came from a freezer. The basil, sausage, and everything working together made this anything but your average pizza. It was different--in the best way possible. Five minutes later... Gone. Next up were the savory pancakes. At first glance, they looked simple. Then I took a bite. That little stack of fluffy pancakes topped with berry butter didn't even need syrup. THANK YOU for understanding that pancakes don't need to cover an entire plate to be memorable. These were soft, flavorful, perfectly sweet, and somehow disappeared before I could fully appreciate everything else on the plate. Speaking of everything else... The steamed eggs were light and fluffy. The hash browns? Listen... Whatever they're doing to those potatoes back there needs to be studied. They had the perfect golden crunch with this buttery goodness that made me question every hash brown I've ever eaten. Fried in beef tallow? Magic? I don't know. I just know I wanted another order immediately. The bacon deserved its own shoutout too. Fresh, crispy, and full of flavor--not bacon that was cooked at 5 a.m. and has been sitting around waiting for someone's Grand Slam order. This bacon had integrity. Then came the steak and eggs. The steak was tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. I had absolutely no interest in sharing. But somehow the potatoes still managed to steal part of the spotlight. Again... Those potatoes. But the menu is huge and I've made a real dent in it: the eggs benedict croissant, steak and eggs, honey prosciutto pizza, and the beef bulgogi burrito have all been excellent. The pastries deserve their own paragraph. Strawberry croissant, Dubai chocolate croissant, almond croissant, cheesecake, cookies -- I've had nearly all of them and they hit every time. But the guava danish is the one. If you only get one thing from the pastry case, get that. There are days I come in purely for the pastries and skip the meal entirely. Service is quick and friendly. Parking is the one tricky part. We've been lucky finding a spot right out front every time, but give yourself a few extra minutes. With FIFA going on, dining in downtown Long Beach is a little tricky. This cafe is away from all that. I had this place bookmarked and decided to try it. I parked across the street. Free parking. No meters around this neighborhood. There is even a crosswalk from across the street, straight to this place. I noticed the nice outdoor seating in the shaded patio first, but there is plenty of seating indoors as well. You can either order from a kiosk that has pictures or from the front counter. I took a look at the menu before I decided. Food on one side of the menu and a bunch of drinks listed on the other side. It took me a long time to decide. I ordered an iced dirty chai latte and avocado toast, paid at the counter, was given a number, and sat down. My drink was pretty and tasty, so was my avocado toast. The bread was perfectly toasted. Utensils are available at all the tables. My toast was too crunchy to cut with a knife. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and efficient. The place was full of large groups of families sitting at the long tables. A couple staff delivering food and drink. I also noticed that staff clean tables fairly quickly. They're not sitting around dirty for long. There's a water station for customers to help themselves. Water with lemons in a glass container. Clean glasses and plastic cups available, along with cardboard to-go containers. read more

Lazy Dough is this interesting café located on fourth Street in the LBC. The design of this establishment is very nice. They have very nice interior seating, as well as a very nice outdoor patio space. The way this place works is that you go inside and order what you want. You can do this is one of two ways. They have a digital ordering station, if that's your preference. Or, you can place your order with the staff member at the front counter. Your choice. In terms of the food, it's all very interesting. They have some pretty nice choices. What they offer is kind of unique takes on a traditional Americana and beyond. The main thing about this restaurant to keep in mind is that they have a very extensive drink list. Whether you want lattes, cappuccinos, chais they have a lot of choices. I mean, really a lot of choices! The only downside to this café, if you want to call it that, is that this is a population location. From this, if there are a lot of people in front of you, having put in their order, you may have to wait awhile to get your meal. We found this spot on instagram and had to try out yet another great restaraunt on fourth street. What got me was the breakfast burritos that they served, and thats what i maintained my focus on for the morning. Its a very nicely decorated place and there is a lot of seating inside and some out on the patio. They had a lot of pastry made and their coffee options were wide. Since i was getting the burrito, my wife tried out the steak and eggs because the eggs were prepared sunny side up. Her skillet had mushrooms and onions which flavored the meat even more. Her potatoes were all right. The ones in my chorizo breakfast burrito were better as hash browns, and the Chimichurri sauce went well with every bite i took. We decided to try out the strawberry croissant that had custard and slices of the fruit inside. Every bite was fantastic in that pastry and i cant wait to have it again at my next visit. Swapped the Canadian bacon with regular bacon and it was fire. The eggs Benedict idea inside of a sandwich was new to me and I'd definitely order it again. Just be careful with the yolk, it might just explode on you lol Bulgogi Burrito 4.5/5 The only thing I'd change about it is the way they roll it, it affected the ratio of egg to tater tots and meat per bite. Other than that, the actual ratio of ingredients was great, the mango salsa they give on the side is fire, and the Aji sauce (tastes like the Peruvian green sauce) was ABSOLUTELY FIRE I had to get extra sauce because I used it on literally every bite. I have visited this place several times, and it is always a great experience. The staff works incredibly hard and the person I assume is the owner is there alongside his staff. They offer both a traditional register and a self-service kiosk, which is convenient if you prefer placing your order on your own. There is plenty of seating available, both indoors and outdoors, making it a comfortable place to dine regardless of how busy it gets. The food has been consistently tasty every time I have visited. We popped into this cafe and were pleasantly surprised by the creative/unique and extensive menu - each item is intentional and trendy! Front entry to exit, I had a great experience here. You order in front take a number and seat yourself. I observed a dedicated barista making the drinks and making match the traditional way with a bamboo wisk and personality order.I loved this! The food comes out pretty fast with minimal wait time. The steak is always tender, the egg is cooked to perfection, the garlic herb potatoes were crispy and delicious and the miso mushroom sauce tied everything together really well. I also tried the popcorn chicken curry and the bbq wings. The beverages were refreshing. I got to chat with the owner. She is super sweet. Another fun brunch at Lazy Dough. The food is good. Is it "oh my god I've never had anything like this before" good? Not necessarily I think its expensive for the portions/quality that they provide. The pastry descriptions sounded good, but they are pretty small so I didn't get any. The market kale salad comes with ciabatta bread which is something I haven't seen before of other restaurants. The toppings are creative, but easy to replicate. I also ordered a black coffee, which didn't come completely full, and there were no refills lol. Coffee was ok, not the best quality. My party also ordered a dubai latte and mocha for drinks, the dubai latte was creative. Popcorn chicken, patty melt & breakfast burrito were good but nothing impressive. Came to this charming cafe restaurant yesterday. I was greeted by a very cheerful young lady at the counter. The entire place is very bright had very cutesy vibes based on the decor. The pastries on the glass shelf were getting sold fast, each one looked really fresh especially the fruit topped ones, so it was just right to start with pastries before lunch. The mango danish was delicious!!!!!!! Anyways we tried hot and cold drinks. The coffee was so good, they have their own sweetener choices, the cold drink Jasmine with fruit was also very refreshing. JAM PACKED DRINKS AND GOOD FOOD We were looking for something with really good matcha, lattes and a breakfast burrito. A one stop shop. We went to our usual spot but it recently went viral so the line was down the street. This place was closest. Lazy dough ended up being just as good, if not better. The piña colada matcha was a sweet treat with tons of puree and foam while still being true to matcha flavor. The Dubai espresso latte was loaded with toppings, pastes and foam. Definitely on the sweet side, almost like ice cream with the salted foam, but I'm here for a good time not a long time. I was afraid I wasn't going to like the burrito since the default protein is chorizo. But that was also really good for $14 dollars. It wasn't spicy and the chewy texture of the tortilla, egg and cheese against the bits of chorizo can't get any better. Everyone was nice and greeted us despite arriving 40 minutes before close. The only issue one may have is finding parking in Long Beach, but that's a Long Beach problem. read more

The food is amazing. I got a guava & cheese danish and it was delicious, but small, which was good since I wasn't very hungry at the time. I also got a matcha strawberry latte, which is sweeter rather than bitter. I personally prefer my matcha less sweet and a bit more bitter. The bulgogi sandwich was really good, the egg is always a nice touch. The side salad, a bit mild flavored and very fresh. The Croissant french toast was insanely good. Coconut cream, fresh fruit, crispy toast... a must prefer for sure! Service: 4/5 Order first, seat after. Interesting way but we got to our seats very quick. The staff is so nice, looks to be a family environment and great work to them. Everyone is so inviting and extremely quick. Ambiance: 5/5 Loving the vibe. my coworker and i wanted a sweet treat for lunch and decided to stop by lazy dough after searching for different bakeries, and we both really enjoyed the pastries here! i got the dubai croissant, and i felt like this was perfectly sweet and had a good amount of filling on top and inside the crispy croissant. grateful they don't skimp on the pistachio cream and kataifi! i was too full to try the other pastries, but they all looked pretty good too. parking is pretty hard to find here since there's no dedicated parking lot, so just beware that you may have to find street parking or park in the one spot that they have available! read more

Wow. I just finished dining at Lazy Dough in LB, and I couldn't wait to write this review. This is now my favorite new brunch location in Long Beach! This family restaurant opened about 8 months ago, and everything is made in-house, including their jams and bread. They said they had over 100 dishes available during soft opening, and based on what their customers and communities ordered the most and gave feedback on, they narrowed down their menu that you see today. The restaurant isn't telling people what they should eat, but they're cooking what the people want! It doesn't mean that the menu will stay static forever; we were told that their bakery items change often, but when something is popular, like garlic bread and dubai chocolate croissant, they'll keep it in in regular rotation. I look forward to visiting Lazy Dough throughout various seasons to see what new items they'll have ready for the community! Immediately walking in, I was impressed by their clean, open concept dining area with lively decoration. They have plenty of seats inside, and about 5 tables in the outside patio. Self-serve water station with to-go containers and cups (both hot and cold), were a nice touch. The level of service also impressed me; not only were the staff kind and friendly, but they take meticulous detail to customers' dining experience. For example, I saw that one patron wanted to sit by the window, which was pretty clean enough, and the manager immediately had the window be wiped down so that this patron can have a better experience. We ordered the steak and egg skillet, breakfast burrito, americano coffee, matcha latte with almond milk, and fruit tart to dine-in. We also got a guava danish to-go because we couldn't decide on one dessert :) * Steak and egg skillet: I ordered the meat medium-rare, and it came out as promised. The Vietnamese inspired mushroom sauce was delicious and took the steak to another whole level. The potatoes were CRISP and the garlic flavor was on point. The sunny-side egg, toasted bread, and roasted tomato were great, but the star of the dish were the juicy steak and crispy potatoes. I would be getting this again for sure. * Breakfast burrito: My husband devoured his burrito as soon as it came out. I managed to get a bite, and wow, it was packed with all the ingredients and had a burst of flavor. It came with a side of green salsa that really complimented the dish. He said he would get this burrito again as well! * Americano coffee and Matcha Latte were both strong, no notes. * Fruit Tart: Instead of your typical tart, it's a more dense bread that keeps the custard and fruit together. The custard is not too sweet, but just sweet enough (your biggest Asian compliment to dessert). Overall, this restaurant takes serious investment to the community's wants and needs, produces creative and delicious food in-house, and works hard to provide top-notch service.
