After having my eye on this place and driving by countless times, I finally got to try it. Greeted by possibly the owner at the register, gave us details on flavor and ingredients that was insightful. I loved that they not only make their tortillas but they also make vegan ones! And they taste just as good as the real ones lol. I got the breakfast bowl w nopales since I'm vegetarian, and a side of salsa verde. Soooo good. Flavorful, beautiful, delicious and quite hearty. My friend got the spicy habanero and creamy green salsa one I forgot the name but the creamy green was my fav. For my drink I went w the Jamaica milk tea- so good and unique I loved it. Looking around plenty of people were grubbing the breakfast burritos. They looked EXQUISITE. Plenty of seating indoor, playing good music as well. Big beautiful windows facing 4th street. The energy was nice in here. I'll definitely be back to try the chilaquiles and matcha...and everything else on the menu. Thank you for a lovely experience.
This cafe is a quaint local spot in Long Beach that I can definitely see myself coming back to. Upon entering I was cheerfully greeted and walked through the menu. I decided on an iced Cafe de Olla coffee. It was very good! I loved the level of spice - the cinnamon and such really came through. It was definitely on the sweeter side though and I typically opt out of sweeteners. I plan to come back and try out their food and other coffee options because everything looked great!

The owner was out talking to customers I loved seeing it. The coffee was so good and well balanced. The burritos were loaded with great ingredients. Just my personal preference would have loved if the salsa was a little spicier. But all in all everything was great.
This is one of the best breakfast burritos in Long Beach. I actually just stopped by this time to get their French Toast Sticks and Mazapán Banana Latte. Both are stellar.
This place has a warm, authentic feel where you can tell the chef takes serious pride in everything that leaves the kitchen. The creamy, nutty Banana Mazapán Latte was one of the most unique coffees I've had, while the loaded breakfast burrito delivered with delicious bacon and fresh potatoes. The Churro French Toast completely stole the show with cinnamon sugar and Mexican caramel, making it one of the most memorable items of the meal. Everything tasted intentional, authentic, and made with genuine care, which made the entire experience feel like a masterpiece.

The burrito of chorizo was big and good. The service was friendly and attentive. All in all would come again to try other items.

Red chorizo burrito -- my partner really enjoyed this and would go back for it Red chorizo taco -- pure grease dripping out of the taco. Had a slightly bitter taste to it Green chorizo (chicken) taco -- I didn't finish this. I did not enjoy the texture it was all mush. Salsas we tried did have good flavor. Specifically the green salsa. Strawberry matcha was not very strong but had good flavor for a drink as a whole.

The chorizo is not cooked with the eggs but pasted in large quantities to the tortilla it was like glue. Saw how good the french toast looked online only to get these very pale, not soaked, not covered in cinnamon sugar pieces of bread.

The ingredients sounded amazing: eggs, potatoes, Mexican cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. Flavor-wise, both burritos actually tasted really good and the salsas were delicious too. Unfortunately, the texture kind of ruined it for us. Both burritos had the exact same very mushy texture, and after a few bites we were both over it. There were supposed to be potatoes inside, but it barely seemed like there were any. Crispy potatoes would've made a huge difference and added some texture. At $21 each, we just didn't feel like the burritos were worth the price. The real highlight of our visit was the drinks -- we got the horchata and pepino agua fresca, and both were SO good. Definitely our favorite part of the meal. Burritos: 2/5 Agua frescas: 5/5
Masa y Taza is popping off in the LBC, and they're doing breakfast burritos right. We came in on a Sunday morning and waited about 25 minutes to place our order. Once we did, the food came out relatively quick. Next time I would call in my order for pickup. I went with the green chile chicken breakfast burrito. I really loved the combination of ingredients, the amount of cheese, and the fresh and chewy tortilla. You get your choice of two salsas with your order, and you don't want to miss the salsa verde. We love a salsa selection. As a non-coffee drinker I would have loved to see some tea options. How tasty would a horchata chai be?! I went with the pepino agua fresca which was nice and refreshing.
A Long Beach gem. It's a great spot for breakfast, brunch or lunch with amazing options for caffeine and food. The mazapán banana latte is creamy and sweet and a great way to top off any day. And the real stars of the show are the breakfast burritos and with their salsa verde. The el clásico breakfast burrito is quite honestly one of the best if not the best breakfast burritos we've ever had. There is good texture balance with egg and crispy potatoes, the homemade tortillas you cannot beat and I would happily drown in their salsa verde. It's perfection. Happy to have this spot in the LBC.

I think I may have found my favorite breakfast burrito in town. I have been lamenting the closing of Jerry's for months, in search of a replacement. Yes, I have found plenty of delicious burritos at Tito's, Eggbred, Burrito 646, but none so far that just HIT like Jerry's did. Funny enough, Masa y Taza opened up just across the street from Jerry's, and for me, currently holds first place. Is that street corner simply destined to serve delicious burritos? It's a cute little bright and welcoming spot. The staff look like they are having fun every time I go in, and all my interactions with them have been lovely. The first time I came here, I was on my way to the movies at 930am, and it was too early to eat a hot dog or nachos. So, naturally, I packed the El Classico burrito to go in an insulated makeup bag with an energy drink and a protein shake. It would have been a lot more challenging to sneak in a delicious coffee, too! The second time I came here, I got an iced vanilla latte that was delicioso, and the chilaquiles. Now when they warn you that it's spicy before you order it, IT'S SPICY. But wow, these were so good. Some of the best I've had. I was still a little hungry after so definitely not as filling as one of their burritos, but damn good. Next time I will know to definitely add a protein. Today, I finally tried the Banana Latte, I opted for iced since it's still pretty warm out, which comes with a house vanilla foam. Holy hell the mazapán crumble? Amazing. The banana? Subtle and not overpowering, just the right amount. I also tried a different burrito this time, I got the El Ranchero with bacon, and green sauce on the side. This was magic. The guacamole and sour cream, the refried beans, this was the perfect ratio of cheesy goodness, and SO MUCH BACON. They did not skimp on the bacon. I'm so glad this is in my neighborhood and I can walk here anytime I want. Next time I want to try the tacos! And, I obviously need to try the churro french toast too because duh. read more
Been here several times and the quality is always consistent. The cafe is clean and beautiful with plenty of seats. Sometimes I see people working on their laptops. My go to order is always the classic breakfast burrito with bacon, and as you can tell they provide plenty of protein and the tortilla is delicious! This time I also ordered the churro French toast and it was amazing! Will be adding it into the rotation. As for coffee, we tried their mazapan banana coffee, but it was very sweet. I personally prefer stronger coffee. Overall, great food but be prepared to wait a bit for the order to come out. read more

My partner put this spot up for breakfast this morning. It has been wildly popular, but we showed up early to beat the rush. Parking can be a challenge on Fourth Street, but sometimes (especially in the morning) you can get lucky. Just don't park behind the restaurant in the lot next to the laundry. Some signs make that pretty clear. When you walk in, it's a very nice place with plenty of table seating and a small menu to make great choices. We decided to split a El Classico breakfast burrito with bacon, eggs, potatoes, cheese all in a homemade flour burrito tortilla. She had a cup of Cafe de Olla, and it was a perfect natural. No need for cream or sugar, bringing her thoughts of home with her mother. We also shared the churro french toast that was stuffed with custard and came with gooey chocolate dip. It took be back to Spain by how good they were. We enjoyed the tortillas de Mantequilla, and again the homemade flour tortillas were amazing, sending me back to times as a kid. These were better than my grandmother's. The service was great overall, these guys do well behind the counter, and in the kitchen. We will definitely come back to try their breakfast tacos. read more

I ran out of matcha powder and was craving a matcha latte so I decided to treat myself. This was not the kind of matcha I was expecting for a cafe to make. I think if you want to serve a popular drink like matcha then you should learn how to prepare it properly and use quality ingredients. I called and asked what ingredients they use and they said it was some cultivator or something idk but it seems like they use some cheap matcha powder bc the taste is not there. I ordered on DoorDash and was not able to get a refund so beware if you buy a matcha from them. When I called to let them know about the experience they just said "we're sorry about that" like not even trying to make it better lol they really dgaf. You can see in the pic that the color is a dark shade of green, if you like that kind of matcha then I guess try it for yourself to determine if you like that. On a positive note, I also ordered a quesadilla with chorizo and pickled onions and that is very good. read more
This is so good! Smokey chorizo I can't explain it you have to try it. I'm so glad it's distinctly different from other grab and go burritos!!!! Fresh tortilla like a warm hug! I got the chipotle crema salsa. I feel like everything is hand made and very well made. The guy behind the counter gave very good recommendations. We had dessert on top of the food we have. From food to drinks! There so much love and pride from the staff making it I'm so proud and makes me happy being a local cause of places like this. Will update when I get my dessert!!!! I met Chef Gabriel, one of the co-owners, and he's genuinely hands-on -- passing out orders, greeting people, and taking the time to talk. Calling us "customers" doesn't really fit; it's clearly a community he's building, and as someone who lives just steps away, it feels good to be part of that. I ordered the Burrito El Clásico ($15) with bacon -- handmade Chihuahua-style flour tortilla that's fluffy with just the right crunch, packed with eggs, potatoes, and a Mexican cheese blend. Simple, comforting, and executed perfectly. Paired it with their Iced Mocha Mexicano with oat milk, a rich espresso blended with Mexican table chocolate and traditional spices -- bold, aromatic, and smooth without being overly sweet. This is the kind of place you don't just visit -- you show up for it. read more
The cafe de olla is super delicious, I absolutely enjoyed trying this for the first time. It wasn't too sweet or too bitter, it was just right. I did not care for the green salsa chorizo. It looked odd and had no flavor. The tacos were also pricey at $6 for one taco. However I would like to go back for cafe de olla and try the breakfast burrito. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They make sure you are taken care of and enjoy your visit. read more

Came here with my friend a few months ago after I learned she'd never been and it's in her neighborhood. This place is small with a few tables to dine in, but everything I tried has was great. We walked but they also have a few parking spots on the right side of the building. We got the El Chorizo Verde de Pollo (Green Chicken) and El Clásico breakfast burritos. The El Clásico was our favorite. I also got the Horchata Latte which was great. All the staff were super kind, including the owner who checked on us often and shared a bit about the business. Very kind and caring. I hope folks continue to support this place! read more

Stopped by for a quick bite and some caffeine and I absolutely loved the Papas y Salsa Macha & the Cafe De Olla! The potatoes were savory, smokey, and cooked really well. I got my Cafe De Olla iced and it was smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Interior was simple yet charming. Love that there are big windows with lots of light. Masa y Taza had such a warm vibe. I plan to come back soon and try more off the menu! Highly recommend. read more

3.5/5 Before coming here I did read some mixed reviews about the coffee but decided to try it anyways. I went with the mazapán banana latte iced with an extra shot. It was strong but the flavor wasn't there. I'd like to think it's because I did add an extra shot and maybe that changed the flavor, but idk. We also got 2 burritos, el ranchero w/red chorizo and a classic burrito w/bacon. They were both mediocre, my husband wasn't the biggest fan of it. I thought the salsa would be inside the burrito but it came separate in little small containers. He got 2, a green and red salsa, meanwhile I only got 1 chipotle salsa, barely enough for like half a burrito. Would I come back here most likely not. We did place our order for pick up cuz we were driving from about 40/50 minutes away. The guy doing the pick up orders was really nice and kept assuring me that my order I was almost done. read more

I found out about this place through Instagram! Bookmarked it since their coffee drinks look amazing and I'm always looking for new cafe spots to take hubby! He ordered the iced drip coffee and he was impressed! And that says a lot coming from a guy that thinks everything is "good"!lol I ordered the iced jamaica milk tea and it had a great balance of sweetness, tart, creamy! I'll definitely order it again! I loveee the vibrant color as well. It tasted really refreshing. I do suggest going really early to skip the peak hours. My little family and I arrived around 8:30am on a Sunday. As we sat down, the line got so long and out the door. If you have littles, I suggest not bringing your strollers. Good thing we didn't because it got super packed. Since they just opened, I'm assuming everyone's checking out what all the hype is about. My husband and I enjoyed our orders--El Ranchero burrito and La Espina taco. I loveee the way they cooked the eggs, fluffy and soft. I hate overcooked, rubbery scrambled eggs. I always order nopales and this had amazing flavor profile. Nothing was overpowering. It paired well with the crema chipotle sauce and green salsa! We'll definitely be back to try other food items. I took one star off just because parking is difficult to come by. This is sad, waited like I never had before for a coffee, paid $32 2 of these, and the coffee tasted like coffee with mop water, I could not finish it , it was the horchata one, it did not taste like anything even close to it. read more

Tried here for the first time the other day. The horchata was watered down. I was able to exchange it for the cucumber agua Fresca which was cool. The churro toast was delicious. I would go back for those. read more

The food is authentic and flavorful. The coffee is the same. I love the nopales breakfast taco (this is huge) and hot cafe de olla. Everything is fresh, you can't make a bad choice here! read more
Finally able to try this new gem. Simple and clean inside, very nice staff. I got the iced horchata latte and the burrito Classico with bacon. The tortillas are made fresh as well as the salsas. Decent spot that's close enough to walk to; if you're driving parking can be very limited and inside seating is very limited which can present a problem if dining in or trying to. Been here twice tried the chicken verde breakfast burrito, the potato, the concha, and the French toast. Tried the horchata latte too. Not bad. Food came out before the drink did so had to wait on that. Worth a try if local but between parking and limited dining space when busy it's not something to make a journey for (just my personal opinion) read more
I stopped by Masa y Taza this morning and I'm pretty sure they're still in a soft-opening phase, but first impressions were solid. From the outside, the branding immediately lets you know what you're walking into -- clean white and blue, very Mexican pottery-inspired, tasteful and intentional. You don't have to guess the vibe. Inside, the space feels modern and airy: nice tile work toward the back, open layout, lots of tables up front, with the kitchen clearly active behind the scenes. There's good energy right away -- the front line was busy with cashiers, coffee prep, and food being run out, which is always a good sign. Breakfast burrito options were plentiful and honestly all sounded good. I went with the El Chorizo Rojo burrito, but I already know I'll be back to work my way through the rest. They also have a solid coffee program going -- I tried the café de olla, and you can tell they're taking coffee seriously, not just treating it as an afterthought. There's also a small selection of baked goods; I grabbed a vanilla concha straight from the display case -- what you see is what you get, which I actually appreciate. The coffee and concha came out right away, though I did notice two things worth mentioning: there wasn't any cream or half-and-half out at the self-serve station, so I had to ask (they were happy to help), and the coffee itself wasn't quite as hot as I'd expect. Not a dealbreaker, just something they'll probably dial in as they settle into full service. Please please fix the temperature of the coffee. The burrito came out surprisingly fast. I grabbed chipotle crema and the mild rojo salsa, packed everything up, and headed a few blocks down to Junipero and Ocean to eat it by the beach -- honestly, a perfect setup. The burrito itself was legit. Big, filling, and piping hot, with a really satisfying mix of potatoes, eggs, refried beans, and chorizo. There's a light spicy kick -- enough to keep things interesting but not so much that it'll scare off people who don't like heat. I tried both sauces, and the salsa rojo was the standout for me: balanced, flavorful, and not just heat for the sake of heat. The tortilla deserves a shout-out too -- it holds everything together, tastes fresh, and elevates the whole burrito. Presentation was thoughtful: foil-wrapped, tucked into a paper box, sealed with a round branded sticker that reads Masa y Taza - Long Beach, California. Small detail, but it shows pride in what they're putting out. Overall, a really strong start. A few small kinks to iron out (coffee temp, cream station), but the food, the space, and the concept are all there. Definitely a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and absolutely worth checking out -- especially if you're into breakfast burritos and a good coffee stop near the beach. read more
