If you've ever watched the show "Cheers," this place will instantly give you those same welcoming, familiar vibes. It's a wine bar, and a really cool, cozy spot for grown folks to kick back and unwind. The space is small, but that only adds to the intimate ambiance. The staff--including the owners--are incredibly knowledgeable about their wines and happy to share their insight. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or just dipping your toes into the world of reds and whites, you'll feel right at home. They do serve food, and it was absolutely delectable--each bite thoughtfully prepared to complement the drinks. On some nights, they even have a live band playing near the entrance, adding just the right touch of energy and warmth. This is the kind of spot where you can settle in, sip slowly, enjoy good conversation, and feel like a regular--even if it's your first visit.

Food was delicious. We split a flatbread that had pastrami with mild jalapeños and cheese Service was quick and they continued to ask if we needed anything The music was wonderful. We came to see Kelly and Phil. Nice intimate bar.

I frequent this wine bar, sometimes with friends and sometimes by myself. On the occasions when I visited alone, I always ended up leaving with a new friend, thanks to the welcoming atmosphere. The regulars are incredibly friendly, and without any TVs, the space fosters great conversations. The staff--Ernie, Jessie, Ariel, and Mary in the kitchen--are amazing and truly enhance the experience. They also feature live music, and I recommend following them on Instagram to check out the monthly performance schedule. In addition to fantastic wine, food, and service, they offer wine tours throughout the year and monthly membership into their wine club. Parking is available both out front and in the lot next door.

First time stopping by and it's a 10/10. We were welcomed by Ernie (the owner) who helped us pick our drinks. I got a Nelsons Blood which was divine & some snacks on the side. Later on there was live music , which was amazing. Overall I will be back, and I'm so happy I came upon this place!

Local wine bar. Super friendly. Great live music. Ernie the owner is the best. He's welcoming and warm. Wine menu changes frequently so you can always try something new. They will often give you a taste before you order a full glass. Food isn't special but it's good and pairs great with wine. It's the kind of place you can go and have an intimate conversation or join in conversation with the people next to you. Love that we have this in Bixby Knolls.

Busy date night with my daughter. Cocktails, dinner and then a stop at Willmores to close out the evening. They have great snacks and desserts with a very helpful, knowledgeable and fun staff

White for me. Red for him. Cheese plate for us.

My husband and I dined at a restaurant across the street last Saturday and we figured we had to stop by here for a nightcap. When we walked in, we weren't prepared for how small it is. Bar to the right and seating to the left with additional seating in the back. Oh, and seating outside with heat lamps. Even though it is small, we found it to be cozy. The place was packed and we were lucky to find the last table for 2 right next to the piano. There was live music that night. Man on guitar and woman on the piano and they played their own renditions of 80's songs. Love the place already! Menus were brought to our table and they had a bit of everything. They had reds, whites, sparkling wines, beer and even non-alcoholic beverages. You could even order food which was nice. We just got "snacks" since we had just come from dinner. We ordered a cheese plate and hummus board. Overall, we had a nice night, enjoying our drinks and listening to live music. It's a good place to chill and everyone was friendly- staff and patrons. We would return again.

Perelada tasty and apparently a favorite!

Always a lively group and bartenders are soo helpful! Rather it's your first time or 18th time you feel as if you are home. On first Fridays they have live music!! Such a vibe!

Great wine selection, chill spot, not crowded. Try the flight if you know nothing about wine or about what type you like. Prices are decent.

It's located in Bixby Knolls, surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants, bars and breweries, yet it's the only true wine bar right there. Honestly, Long Beach has more wine bars than most surrounding areas, and since the South Bay is packed with breweries, if you're tired of beer this is your sign to switch it up. You will not regret it. The food menu has cheese boards, salads and sandwiches, and everything I've had here has been delicious. The cheese boards are better than sex. There is seating indoors and outdoors. It's minimal, but somehow we always manage to find a table. The service is consistently great and the owner is wonderful. She will be leaving soon and she will absolutely be missed, but what she has built here will definitely be cherished. The new owners fell in love with the place, so you can expect it to be well taken care of and to remain just as charming. Parking is street only, so read the signs carefully so you don't end up with a ticket. If you go on a Sunday there are no restrictions or time limits, which makes it even better.

Definitely worth it! The vibes are unmatched. It's a unique blend of "top notch cocktail crafting" and "beer and a hot pretzel after work." You can dress up, you can dress down, it's very 'just be yourself' which I love. I've literally had caviar AND hot dogs there in the same night at an event. They know how to blend high/low. Incredible knowledge and ingredients but not snooty patootie. Super inclusive and fun, with cool popups and events happening all the time. It's a full bar so you can get any cocktail you would normally order if you're keeping it simple, or beer, wine, boilermakers, etc. There's a span of offerings and price points, so something for everyone. (Also really good N/A cocktails!) The menu is super inventive and creative! And the cocktail menu changes out every so often so there are new things to try. This area is vintage vibes and Baby Gee speaks it fluently. Really cool decor, curated by the owners who design everything from the playlist to the cocktails to the invention of never-before-seen flavors and shapes of jello shots. Try the Baby Gee appletini while you're there. Mezcal, tequila, sake appletini you ask?? Yes. Trust. And get a hot dog. Do it.

It's a small, charming spot with a relaxed atmosphere. Just a heads up- there's no indoor seating, so everything is outdoors with a small patio setup. That said, when the weather is nice, it's actually ideal. It feels very laid back and intimate, like one of those hidden neighborhood gems you stumble upon. The employee working when we went was super friendly and welcoming, which always makes a place feel even better. The wine I tried was really good, you can definitely tell it's natural wine (in a good way!). They also have small bites available if you want to snack while you drink, though we didn't end up ordering food. Parking is street parking in the area, which wasn't too difficult to find when we went. Overall it was just a really pleasant experience. The fact that I've passed by this area so many times without noticing this little gem feels like a true tragedy. Though petite and easy to miss, this spot is something special. They specialize in natural wines, thoughtfully and selectively curated since they're not a winery themselves. The selection offers great variety, and because seating is limited, it's very much a first-come, first-served situation, arrive early if you want a seat. There's some indoor seating, with more available outside. The wine servers were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, which made the experience even better. They also host food vendors. Pizza Margherita - 5/5. This is a perfect example of the care and craft that go into their food. The crust strikes a rare balance - it has that signature leopard-spotted char and slight floppiness you'd expect from a Neapolitan-style pizza, but also delivers the chewiness and airy structure of a great New York-style slice. It never tips too far into being overly crispy or dry. What really sets it apart, though, is the sauce. While many pizzerias treat sauce as an afterthought, Thunderbolt clearly does not. Their tomato sauce is rich, vibrant, and juicy, with a depth of flavor that avoids being overly acidic, salty, or tannic. It enhances the pizza beautifully without overshadowing the dough, which is exactly how it should be. Garlic Knots - 5/5. - Easily some of the best I've had anywhere in LA. These are essentially bread rolls with a super chewy interior and a thin, lightly crusty exterior, served alongside their excellent marinara sauce. They're incredibly satisfying and consistently a crowd favorite. I've brought visitors from Japan, Germany, and New York, and every single one of them couldn't stop talking about these knots. My only small critique is that I wish they had used fresh garlic instead of canned, which would have taken them to an even higher level. Still, even as they are, they're outstanding. Overall, Thunderbolt Pizza delivers thoughtful, high-quality food that stands out in a crowded pizza scene. It's the kind of place you keep coming back to--not just because it's good, but because it's consistently memorable.
