    Pepperoni and Pineapple large (5/3/2026)
    James A.

Continues to be really good NY style pizza in Bixby Knolls. I did a carryout order in person, to take back to the nearby Ambitious Ales biergarten. A large 16" cheese pizza for $17, adding good quality pepperoni ($4) and pineapple ($1.50). Like how they charge different prices for a topping based on their cost, though would have gladly paid more for a lot more pineapple (it was pretty skimpy this time). The cheese was sparse (which isn't uncommon with NY style), and the sauce was excellent: flavorful, bit zesty, and enough to make it pronounced but not enough to make the crust soggy. The crust was worth eating down to the last bite, and the entire pizza was finished by the three of us. I was surprised, but as I should have known, really good thin crust pizza is hard to put down.

Honestly, pretty solid pizza. We got the honey pepperoni (forgive me, forgot the technical menu name) and the mozzarella sticks. First - why is it so hard to find mozzarella sticks on a menu at a pizzeria???? We were ECSTATIC when we noticed them, and weren't disappointed. Ordering was easy, the food came out quick, hot, and delicious. We'd easily be back.

Thunderbolt Pizza is PACKED on the weekends and they have super limited seating. We went to the brewery next door and I guess it's common to order takeout pizza from Thunderbolt to eat there. While I can't say I recommend or would come back, I did like their sweet and spicy pizza. I think everything else was a miss. I also feel like most of the pizzas we had were burnt but it might also be intentional. Our appetizers were cold (mozzarella sticks and onion rings), probably because they were made way before the pizza was ready. We were waiting an hour or more for the pizza so I do feel like my review is harsher as it was not worth the wait. So, always call ahead if you can so that you don't have to wait for takeout.

Finally tried the raving ITALIAN SUB served only during lunch. I can't believe other pizza parlors aren't doing the same for their business. It's basically a pizza dough bread wrapped with submarine essentials and deli meat. BRILLIANT and 5-STARS DELICIOUS. I also ordered the SWEET AND SPICY PIZZA and it is VERY GOOD (doing the Italian hand expression). I would order this again as well. Wished I lived near, but my next stop will have to wait until I am nearby.

Fun vibes, friendly costumer service, and great food! We stopped by to hang out after the Chargers fan fest and to pick up the Chargers Rally Towel. We ordered some drinks, the Colpo di Fulmine pizza, hot wings and Zucchini fries. They have a few beers on tap and some bottled drinks. We enjoyed trying all the sauces and spices that were on the table. Everything tasted great and although they seemed very busy, they had a lot of staff on hand and everything came out pretty fast. We ordered at the front, we got our order number and found a table in the patio area where they have a large screen projector screen, heat lamps and both high and low seating areas. A staff member came out to check on us and to take an order for more drinks, which we then had to pay in the front before leaving. There is also a small seating area inside and a couple large tables by the entrance which can be used for larger groups. I only noticed one restroom which was heavily trafficked. The entire space also looks smallish but well used from every corner. It's kid and pet friendly (but I wouldn't recommend bringing big strollers as the space is narrow). There is a small parking lot in the back which is shared with other businesses.

I'd not been here with the whole fam and finally we made it out. The staff was super kind and patient while we figured out what we were going to order. It was a warm night so the covered awnings were a really nice touch to the evening. Seems like the winner of the evening was the Bixby pizza, the TED red and the garden salad, which was a meal all in itself.

    Sicilian kiss pizza
    Lindsay G.

We ordered the 12 inch Sicilian Kiss pizza, hot wings, garlic knots, and a large Caesar salad. Ordering over the phone was quick and easy, and the customer service was great, super friendly and smooth pickup. The pizza was really good! The crust tasted like a fresh loaf of bread, which made it stand out. The flavors on the Sicilian Kiss combo worked really well together and didn't feel heavy. The garlic knots were perfectly seasoned, super fluffy, and buttery (honestly one of my favorite parts of the meal). The large Caesar salad was more than enough for the three of us. Definitely a go-to takeout spot if you live nearby!

Best bar food I've ever had from a spot. They have a wood fired pizza oven right next to the bar, its a cozy vibe in there. Stand to order, take a number & find a table. The food came out within 15-20mins. Colpo di fulmine pizza is a pepperoni pizza with hot honey, the ingredients are fresh & great quality. Next time I would probably try their white sauce pizzas. Overall would absolutely come back.

It is one of the best pizza spots around. The wings are very good 10/10 We also got a vegan pizza really tasty and delicious. Friendly service and fast, you order and sit where you want and they will bring you your order . Had a pitcher of the Hazy IPAto go with the food. We sat in the patio didn't need any heaters but they have them if you need it. Inside lil table and bar top so cool beers on tap and other drinks as well . I will be back for the Sammy's next Cheers

Colpo di fulmine is Italian for "the thunderbolt," which translates to when love strikes! I felt love at first bite and Thunderbolt has been on my top 5 for pizzas in Long Beach for quite some time now, along with The 4th Horseman, La'Antica, Thai Curry Pizza and LB Beer Lab. I met the owner, Jay Stebbins, when Thunderbolt first opened in 2020. He's from Brooklyn and wanted to bring NY style pizza here. So glad he did! He takes pride in the fermentation process of the dough and uses various herbs and ingredients to make some stellar pies. My favorite pizzas: The Sicilian Kiss- house made fresh herb infused white sauce, mozzarella, Avoria fresh mozzarella, itallan sausage, fresh fennel, fresh mushrooms, blistered cherry tomatoes & finished with grated aged parmesan Winter White- house made fresh herb infused white sauce, mozzarella, baby kale, mushrooms & finished with aged parm and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil The Works- red sauce, grande mozzarella, italian sausage, cupping pepperoni, red & green bell pepper, black olives, mushrooms and red onion But wait, they also have wings, garlic knots, other fried appetizers, salads, AND their very popular sandwiches for lunch! Their lunch specials are from 11:30am - 4pm and I recently tried the Hellfire Club, which included pepperoni, thinly sliced soppressata picante, house-made chimichurri, which is incredible!, crumbled burrata, red peppers, honey and arugula nestled in their thin pizza crust and it was a freakin party in my mouth! My hubby got the Mortadella, mozzarella and pesto sandwich per staff's recommendation. It was good, but the Hellfire was the winner. We'll have to try the Italian sub that everyone's been raving about next time! They have an excellent selection of beers, wine and non alcoholic beverages as well as tons of herbs and spices to sprinkle on your pizza! Indoor and outdoor seating, casual, pay at the register situation. The service has been inconsistent but I can tell they have improved in this area during my last visit. Free street parking and parking lot in the back.

    Pepperoni pizza and mediterranean salad.

Pizza and salad combo deal was great, but you can other get cheese or pepperoni. Greek/caesar/italian salad options. Cute place in a plaza, went with a friend. Open doors and seating. Order at the front.

    Overdone, at least for me.
    Ryan U.

The pizza can be very good. They work really hard. It's just been hit and miss lately. I've been hitting this spot at least once a month since they openned. When they get it right its oh so right, but the last 2 out of 3 pizzas I've gotten have been over-cooked where the cheese gets hard, and....just not that good. They get really busy, and they're moving lots of pizzas in a small space, I get it.

Sweet and Spicy Specialty Pizza 10/10 - great balance of sweet and savory - good amount of pepperoni - enjoyed the extra cheese balls on top of Zucchini Sticks 10/10 - well seasoned - very crispy - enough to share with whole table - yummy ranch that's well seasoned Nuggets 8/10 - crispy nuggets not much too it Side Salad 8/10 - simple salad to pair with pizza Came with a couple of friends and we left highly satisfied! The pizza was amazing! The crust was very crunchy in the outside but soft on the inside, great amount of sauce, a lot of pepperonis, and loved the extra cheese. I really enjoyed eating this pizza with their blue cheese dip and barbecue. Definitely want to come back and try their other pizza combinations. The service was very great! The guy in the from taking our order was funny and helpful when it came to recommendations. He was very patient as we ordered. The food came out at a timely manner. The vibes here are very laid back and cozy. A great place to catch up with friends over some finger good food.

Will you be open today for Memorial Day?

Yes! Since it's Monday though, we will not be open until 4pm per usual.

What are your lunch hours for sandwiches?

Tuesday through Sunday 11:30 until 4:30! Monday we don't open until 4pm so we do not offer sandwiches on Monday.

    Do you sell gift cards?

We do! They can be purchased online at https://www.toasttab.com/thunderbolt-pizza/giftcards?utm_source=undefined&utm_content=online--thunderbolt-pizza&utm_medium=toast_sites&utm_campaign=giftcards

    Do you deliver?

    We do not deliver.

Hi there, y'all have amazing pizza but what really entices me is the deli sandwiches! My office isn't too far from you and I'll sometimes stop by for an Italian sandwhich. I don't see this on your regular menu, is this only a lunch item/special?

Hi Rudy, yes, our sandwiches are only served during our lunch hours at this time.

When will you bring your Stromboli back? It was so amazing - and nobody carries them!

Hey Will! That’s a tough question. Stromboli’s wreak havoc on the floor of our oven and with the amount of pizza we make, it’s been difficult to bring them back so we can accommodate the pizza lovers. Give us a beat to figure it out.

    Do they do delivery?

No but it's 100000% worth picking it up. Don't forget the Ranch it's homemade

Do you still have the fig pizza?

Yes we do. The fig pizza is called "We be jamming!"

    Do they deliver?

    Yes.

Is they cauliflower crust wheat free?

Did you read the menu? Both the cauliflower crust and gluten-free crust are wheat free

When it came time to grab some food, we were able to get a table inside. Majority of the breweries tends to serve pretty much the same things, pizza sandwiches and salads. No complaints here. Simple food goes a long way. There were a couple of us so we grabbed a few things to share. Started off with the pretzel balls with cheese dip and honey mustard and the chips with queso cheese dip. Pretzel was tasty and outdid the queso dip. Pizzas of course which were pretty big in sizes. A couple of the pizzas and a salad did four of us with leftovers. Their Hawaiian pizza was quite tasty and was finished. We also ordered one of the mushroom pizzas with an egg. It was tasty but a little on the salty side. The arugula salad was delicious. Simple but tasty. And then there was ham pizza I believe with onions and peppercini. That was also a favorite of the night. Overall, the place was quite fun. Not a big brewery and more intimate.
