When you're in the mood for German food, you have to go here. The beer is amazing. The food's really good. Good selection of German authentic dishes. Service is always a plus not to mention the beer. The beer is so good. This place is really cool. They got good. Live music playing. They got the baseball in the hockey games on the TV. The bar scene is really good. Really awesome place to have dinner kid friendly patio area is amazing. Nice weather outside there's no way you could leave this place and not be completely stuffed with beer and bread and schnitzel and sausages. It's so good and don't forget to try the apple strudel.

Tried our luck today, and ordered the snitzel (chicken), with two sides. Very much like I call a chicken milanesa. Not dry, and had a generous mushroom gravy on top. The caramelized Brussel sprouts were my favorite. Had the Haffenbrau (excuse the misspelling) and was pleasantly surprised at it's flavor. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly. The outdoor patio area was perfect for a calm Long Beach afternoon.

It was Sunday afternoon and husband and I needed a beer after a little record shopping down the street. We decided to try out this German pub, which was highly recommended by a friend. So glad we did! There are plenty of seats inside and outdoor patio seatings. Let's sit at the bar. Beers always taste better at the bar :) Husband got the beer flight and I opted for a pint of Hofbrau Original. We shared the: Bavarian pretzel served with homemade sweet mustard and obatzda. And what is obatzda? This one had a mixture of brie, cream cheese, paprika, salt, pepper, maybe some butter too. I never came across this at any German pub. Omg. This is the real deal. Yum! And the: Hungarian Debreziner - smoked pork sausage with paprika, garlic, pepper, and marjoram. With choice of 2 sides. We picked cucumber dill salad (with sour cream dill dressing) and sauerkraut - we love all things fermented. This was so good. This is an awesome protein and veggie combo for those who are watching their waistline. This was a perfect snack. There are so many other dishes to try and I am already wanting to return for more. Service is super friendly. So looking forward to our next visit. Prost!

Rasselbock is one of the Long Beach restaurants that so many different people have recommended to me, and I finally got to try it. I ordered the cordon bleu schnitzel, which came with two sides. I chose the potato salad and the cucumber dill salad. My entire meal was absolutely delicious! Friendly service, and both indoor and outdoor seating is available. They do loads of activities for Oktoberfest, which is fun too! I'll be back to try the brunch, which I've heard is amazing too.

Petrus sour and I forgot which beer my bf had. The petrus sour is indeed SOUR lol.

My boyfriend and I decided to venture into Bixby Knolls and try a new (dog friendly) establishment one afternoon. I had Rasselbock saved in my bookmarks for the longest so we settled for this lovely German beer garden. We were seated outside and our hospitable server was happy to break down the differences of each German brew on the menu. Just about every staff member was kind and accommodating as the busboy even brought out a bowl of water for my fur baby. Nonetheless, the service was pretty great. I was also happy to see that this establishment has a doggy menu! Like how cool is that, lol. I ordered my dog a grilled chicken bowl and my boyfriend opted for the pretzel appetizer as we had already eaten beforehand. The pretzel was nice although just a tad bit on the harder side. This was my first time trying German beer and let's just say now I know why Oktoberfest exists lol. I ordered a petrus sour on my first round and boy did it get the job done. Our server warned me that it was pretty sour and even offered me a sample, but I decided to go all in - no regrets though! I also tried a darker beer on my second round however I don't remember the name of it. The overall vibe and ambiance is super chill and relaxed. The patio is fortunately shaded so we didn't have to worry about sitting in the sun or whatnot. The indoor seating is also reasonably sized and accommodating. I definitely look forward to returning and enjoying more German brews along with some of the cuisine that they offer. Totally recommend for anyone looking to barhop within Bixby Knolls.

This might be one of the best places to grab a beer in Cali! The vibes are great and the service is friendly. They have some of the best German beers. My favorite is the Kolsch and the Hofbrau dunkel. The prices are great and they even serve boots lol As for the food I've tried a lot and the sausage platter is great. Don't sleep on the giant pretzel or the deviled eggs. And if you're hungry try the pork shank. Lots of meat and it's served with mashed potatoes. Has a sweet beer gravy over it which was really good.

Great spot to grab a brew and bite to eat. They offer tradition and newer fusion of german/austrian classics. We had the sausage platter and fries which were great but the size was questionable. The beer was great and they offer beer flights and imported authentic beers. We indulged in a their season dessert offering and it was a pleasant surprise. They host local events and are always a lively place. I highly recommend it if you looking for a stein/pint to enjoy with friends away from a younger crowd.

Food: good. Fries are totally shareable. Sausage plate good. Pate plate very good--order extra bread if you have leftover pate. I wish they had a spicy mustard. Parking: street Service: good Ambiance: casual. Outdoor patio is super cute. My only note is that they need to water the plants and take care of them. It really adds to the look of the restaurant whether they're dead/alive.

Place number 14 or 15 on the Bixby Knolls lunch tour with Kevin. I was here seven years ago with my dad not too long before he died. The menu has changed for the better. Traditional bratwurst- A, served on a bed of arugula with a tasty mustard on the side. Roasted red potatoes- A. Recommended by Tim. They were crispy outside, tender inside and well seasoned. Sauerkraut- A. Some of the best I've had. Not too salty. Pork Wiener schnitzel- B. Nicely breaded without too much breading. Red cabbage- A. One of my favorite sides. Spatzle- B. A little bland. There were grill marks on it which I enjoyed. Chicken Cordon Bleu- A. The ham was so good. Could have been sliced a little thinner. I had the BRLO IPA. It was good, but there's something about German beer that I don't really like. I can't put my finger on it. Tim let me taste three other beers too, which I thought was very nice. This speaks volumes about his customer service skills in my opinion. The service was fantastic. As you can probably tell, Tim took my order and entertained me while I waited for my food. As far as ambiance, the restaurant is cute little brewhouse, or should I say brauhaus? I can see it being packed during the upcoming Oktoberfest.

This place is a solid 3 star. I would give 4 but I've been coming here since the opening and it's changed a bit. The potato pancakes are MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!! The used to use crème fraiche, but have switched to ... butter, I think. I still love them, but.... I have tried most menu items and my "go to" is the Jager schnitzel ., but try anything. You will be satisfied.

Excellent German food and beer, especially the beer! Small, quaint place with outdoor seating too. Beer can be bought in Pint size, 1 liter and 2 liter glasses. If you love worst, this place has all kinds. The soft pretzel is tremendous with the mustard and cheese spread. Our server Dusti was fantastic. Attentive and cheerful.

What a fun spot to bring your friends! The vibes of this German bar/restaurant are very relaxed, and it's located on a lively street in Bixby Knolls with plenty of options to bar hop or eat. While the menu is basically just sausages and schnitzel, they both things excellently and offer great sides. For the sausages, I liked the Kasekrainer, which is stuffed with cheese. For sides, my favorites are the spatzle, Brussels sprouts, and German fries. They have a wide selection of beers that are available in many sizes, including my favorite: the boot. It's perfect for sharing with friends! The servers are always very friendly, but food can take a little while if it's packed.

Authentic German bar with great variety of native food dishes and beers. The Sausage Platter was great. The Kasekrainer sausage was mind blowing. It was so velvety and had a nice high quality cheese throughout. Next time I'd get it as it's own entree with 2 side dishes. The Deviled Eggs were good but a bit dry. But they came with a nice garlic aioli to dip them in. I love the Hacker Pschorr Hefeweizen Beer. Nice ambience with outdoor patio. Friendly staff.

Are reservations needed?

Depends on your party size, time of day, and day of week. You can usually get a table pretty easily if a party of 2. When in doubt, make a res.

Probably the Brussels sprouts or green beans. Would be an option. The rest are not.

Is the Birthday boot back? I know they weren't serving it last year, my boyfriend celebrates his birthday here for 3 years in a row and the birthday boot became a tradition for us..

I went there today and they still have the 2 foot Das Boot on the drink menu.

Why are the hours listed closing at 8:30 if they're kitchen closes at 8?

Because you can still order a beer while the kitchen staff is cleaning the kitchen. Pretty standard for a gastropub to close the kitchen prior to the close of the bar.

So I know they offer you a free BOOT of beer on your birthday month with a group of 10 people or more. How about if you and two other people share the same birthday month, does that mean we have to only bring 10 people only or 30 after all?

It's only one birthday boot per party, no matter how many extra people are there.

Their concept focused on gourmet sausages, Belgian and German beers, communal dining tables, and a relaxed social atmosphere. We came here with our group our friend and got to feast upon some dogs and wursts. One of the interesting features that have is that they carry exotic proteins such as alligators, rabbit, or rattlesnake in their links; but if you're more of a vanilla eater, than you're probably opt for the beef, pork or chicken flavored. Either way, make sure you pair it with any of their 10+ beers on tap and you'll for sure enjoy every moment of that bite. I ordered their cheddar bratwurst topped with pickled jalapenos and carmelized onions in a pretzel bun. The wurst was kind of the dry side but beer always helps. I do think sometimes that they over cook it which drys out all the delicious fat out of the links but I am here for drinks and a good time. Great spot to hang out for any type of gathering.

We were daunted by the 1.5 hr drive to where we were staying and hoped that eating closer would save some time later. It did! Rasselbock is a bit hidden away but we found it with street metered parking nearby. We had arranged for a reservation but we hardly needed it. The place was mostly empty when we arrived. Music was thumping, and not German music. It was classic rock but a touch too loud. So keep that in mind. I appreciated that they had Erdinger beer. That's some of the best beer around. I chose the non alcoholic since I had a drive ahead. I was told it might not be cold enough and the server brought me the bottle to sample it by touch. I cheerfully noted Germans don't drink very cold beer and it was fine. My wife and I ordered schnitzels, she chicken and I pork. She had the Oma's potato salad - which with mustard and mayo really would not have passed muster with a real Oma like mine. She reported it was good anyway. I had spaetzle and cucumber dill salad. The kids both had a bratwurst, salad and fries. On the whole the schnitzels were good. Not entirely authentic but USA-good enough. I'd say the same for my spaetzle and salad. One kid liked the bratwurst, one didn't. I found what I tried of the sausage to be pretty good. The stone ground mustard was particularly good. Service was a little slow to start but the food came quickly and we were off. A 4.2 rounds to a flat 4. German food is hard to come by anywhere, so I welcome it. Especially with a good selection of beer. They serve multiple sizes included a liter "mass." Sounds great but I think those days are behind me. Definitely worth a try.
