Our relative recommended trying out the Phoenix Club, and I liked the food served here. We had the crispy chicken schnitzel fingers with spätzle, classic BLT, Ruben sandwich, and potato pancakes with apple sauce. The sandwiches came as large portions. With the fries, my family got full. The potato pancakes tasted good and had a nice texture. I appreciated that they didn't fall apart. The chicken schnitzel tasted good, and the breading stayed intact. However, apart from the basics of cooking chicken, they didn't feel that special to me. I finished the schnitzel relatively quickly, and its portion size wasn't as big as that of the sandwiches. The spätzle was a new dish for me. It doesn't have many ingredients to it, so I'd describe it as not flavorful. Service went well, and our food came to us in about 20-30 minutes. When we arrived at noon, they had a few tables already reserved and occupied with guests. The ambience was lively, but it occasionally got loud. Overall, I liked the food, but the flavors of the dishes, especially from the schnitzel, didn't impress me much. read more

The Bierstube is back at The Phoenix Club and it's a very similar experience. I was glad to see a very similar menu and the same mix of beers on tap. I have always loved their take on the Reuben and it's still great. My wife enjoyed a packed BLT. Both were accompanied by their battered fries and cold beers. Came (for the first time) to Oktoberfest, we got the tickets on line, included parking. We got early, so there was plenty of room, parking and tables. From the Oktoberfest menu, we had the pork schnitzel and the smoked bratwurst. Sides were potato salad, knödel and we added extra: cheese sauce. The music was ok, we enjoyed the traditional dances and costumes, even the chicken dance! They had a great selection of Oktoberfest beers and for the first time I tried the Paulander Lager, I loved it. It's a cool location to celebrate Oktoberfest away from places that are too crazy. As the night progressed, it got more and more crowded and the lines for food and drinks significantly slowed down the speed of service and the lines were just too long!! Lines were so long that blocked the view from the tables to the main stage. We decided to leave then. It was fun and I'd give them a try again in future years . read more

Love stopping here, Service is prompt and friendly and their schnitzel is "German correct". The sauerkraut has a mild but wonderful bite much like the sauerkraut i am fermenting in my crock at home right now. The new Brea location recipes appear to be the same as we had at the Lorelei in Anaheim before they moved.2 read more

This is the best place to come to in Orange County for some good old fashioned German delights and German hospitality! It's our second time coming here and the experience, service and food was equally delightful and fantastic as our first time dining in experience! The ambiance is very cozy and lovely. Plenty of seating with ample space for all. The service is phenomenal. The food is truly marvelous! My husband ordered the special - The Germano Sandwich and I got to taste it! It was a work of art or must I say, a work of heart! I ordered (2) sausage plates - oh yeah! Lol Plate 1- bratwurst and smoked bratwurst with a side of red cabbage. The red cabbage tastes so much like sweet beets. I was not a fan of the red cabbage but it's fine as the bratwurst and smoked bratwurst were amazing! Plate 2 - knackwurst and hot polish with a side of sauerkraut. Chef's kiss to this one! Yummy all over! Out of all 4, my favorite was the hot polish. Superbly delicious! Also, I had a mai tai. They don't have a cocktail menu but they can make whatever you want. They were very generous in their pour! Loved it! This is definitely one of our top fav places to eat in Orange County. We had a great meal at The Phoenix Club. The restaurant was packed when we arrived but we fortunately got a table within a few mins wait. The servers were friendly and helpful. A kids menu, kids cups and coloring supplies were provided which we appreciated. The food was all delicious - pretzel with cheese dip, Reuben sandwich, sausage plate, and two kids meals, plus desserts. We enjoyed every bite and the portions were generous. If you had fond memories of Oktoberfest from years back - keep them and pass on the new location. Not a large beer hall so only about 1/3 can see the band. The outside seating is tiny and half is carved out of the parking lot. The band was nothing like the bands in years past. We went for Oktoberfest today for the second time at the Brea location. Last year was the first at the new location and we sat inside. We were stuffed in like sardines which we found to be very uncomfortable. This year's flyer said expanded indoor/outdoor which was great because we wanted to sit outside. We arrived early and got a table on the patio. It was nice not to be in a crowd, but the music couldn't be heard outside. It felt like we paid admission to sit outside with no entertainment. My suggestion is to at least have speakers in the outdoor areas so the people who choose to sit outside can still enjoy the band. It was lacking the Oktoberfest vibe and I don't know if we'll return next year. read more

We even informed a band member and members that were running the show to move the spot light: up or down, so it is not blinding the audience and we may watch the band, but it did no good. I give this place some credit for not totally being set up, and just ready enough to go. The warmth and the style are truly missing from the old phoenix club but it's a beer hall! The service was borderline ok, I would expect minimal knowledge how the food is pronounced and don't get corrected with an English pronunciation. The beer I wanted was just out and not available as draft. After getting rushed to order, the sides came first and the main meal took another 5-7 minutes which made the sides cold. Now, the food! Before I go there, people who read my reviews in the past like my honesty. I am from Germany and here since 20 years and tried a load of German restaurants and I trashed them all. I brought my dad today, he is here on vacation and lives in Bavaria. Food: the Wiener and the Knackwurst, you can't go wrong with that, if you like the sausage boiled. The bratwurst was okayyyy, a little too white inside but ok. Red cabbage definitely was over spice with cloves, didn't taste the red cabbage. Mashed potatoes were plain tasteless with a hint of butter. I judge on the potato's salad, because it seems nobody knows how to do a good one. That was not potatoes salad, that was baby food. Come on, that felt like someone else ate it before me. I know everybody has different styles but growing up and living in north, west, east and south Germany, that's not it. Checked out Die Bierstube. Loved it! Great food! I feel like I need proof that their vegan brat was truly vegan because it was too delicious! Beer was fab! Our server, James, was great! Hope they'll be able to use that patio area by their side entrance so we can bring our aptly named pooch Heffie Hefeweizen. My only complaint is the noise; couldn't hear someone talking to me right next to me (maybe some fabric or cork to absorb noise) We'll be back soon Prost! read more
