[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nine Social is a cozy wine bar located on the far west end of Birch Street in downtown Brea, right next to Macallans.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is a free parking garage right across the street. Their front of house focus is the wine bar, but they also have a good cocktail and martini menu, as well as a nice selection of food items. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is warm and cozy with two different seating areas. The larger front area has bar seating, quite a few tables, and a lounge area in the back corner with several couches.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is another area in the back which is smaller, and houses their cocktail bar and a number of two seat high top tables. You can order anything on the menu from either area. We sat at the bar in front for some Sunday evening cocktails and small bites. We started out with the spinach & artichoke dip ($15). The dip came out very hot, was a big portion, and was very good. However, the menu said it came with toast points, but instead it was served with tortilla chips which were just ok. The advertised toast points or fresher tortilla chips would have made this appetizer better. My first cocktail was the Limoncello Martini (vodka, fresh Limoncello, lemon juice, $15). I usually love anything lemon and this was a good martini with light lemon flavor. She started with the Purple Martin Martini (vodka, raspberry puree, pineapple, $15). This was another good martini with light sweetness from the raspberry and pineapple, not a sugar bomb. We wanted a little more food, so we ordered the Caprese flatbread ($18). It was a good size, and the dough was great. It had a good amount of cheese and tomatoes, and I really liked the balsamic drizzle on top. However, it did not come with the basil that was listed on the menu. Next, I tried the Peperoncino Martini (vodka, Italian Peperoncino brine, black pepper, extra virgin olive oil, $15). I loved this, one of the more unique martinis I've had. She liked her sip so much, she ordered her own for number three. Her second cocktail was the Carmel Apple Martini (carmel apple vodka, Licor 43, lemon, star anise, caramel cube garnish, $15). Most of the time, you would expect a caramel apple martini to be a sugar bomb, but not this one. The flavors were great with a light sweetness. And who doesn't like a caramel square treat? For my last one, I had the Cinnamon Sleigh (bourbon, cinnamon spice, maple, orange twist, $15). This was a good sipping finisher with light cinnamon notes and those great orange aromatics. KJ was our server, and she was very sweet and friendly. We came early in the evening and it was a little slow, so we chatting with her quite a bit. I'd take a half point off for the two food items not coming with the listed items, but rounded up to five stars overall. The bill had a 3% charge added for using a credit card. They have a music trivia night on Thursdays which would be fun to try. We enjoyed our first visit here, and will definitely return again. read more

I had a lot of fun here on a Thursday night which happened to be music trivia night. The pianist, Tom, played different songs and you have to figure out the song and an associated trivia question. We (three adults) walked in on a Friday evening around 7PM and had an absolute blast! We were able to snag a table, but if we had been even three minites late, we may have had to wait. There was live music, which was a really nice surprise! A pianist and a singer. We shared flash fried peppers and warmed mixed nuts. The peppers needed a little more salt, and I was able to get more salt fairly quickly from the staff. They had a decent selection of wine, and the vodka martini I had was nice. I think it's a lovely place to stop by for pre-dinner drinks (i think they had a full menu of heavier foods, not just appetizers if you're wanting something more filling), or after dinner drinks. It's also right by the movie theater, so probably nice for that as well I probably don't need to list all the occasions a drink could be had, hahaha. We stumbled upon this little bar/restaurant upon waiting for our reservation at x fish, which is right across. KJ was just the sweetest!!! she took her time and explained all the martinis to me and my friend and highly recommended the caramel apple martini. It was sooooo good!! And so strong! Definitely worth it. We only had the drinks but I saw her take out a charcuterie board for another customer and it looked so pretty! We will definitely be coming back. We didn't finish our drinks when our reservation for x fish was ready and she even offered to have a to go cup for us! She was just the sweetest! Highly recommended! It's a hard pass for me. My martini was all olive juice in a thick stemmed martini glass. There are no water glasses, they provided plastic cups. If you enjoy creative, flavorful and fruity drinks, you'll likely be impressed by their menu. My favorite of the cocktail lineup has been the Castaway which features pear-infused vodka, elderflower, lemon, and the most adorable surprise garnish. I won't ruin the surprise but I cannot recommend it enough. The Butterfly Fizz comes with the most refreshing flavors of cucumber, mint and elderflower. Both drinks evoke the feeling of sipping on libations inside a whimsical, magical garden. Service has been fast and friendly each time I've visited, which was pretty early into their opening hours. I really love this small intimate wine bar behind Macallans! We were waiting for a table at the sushi spot and decided to grab some drinks. The inside is cozy and very pretty. One thing led to another and we ordered what we try ought would be a small charcuterie to babysit the drinks. Out comes this stunning platter of heaven! Visited this spot on a spontaneous thought for a GNO after a tough week at work. It was the best decision as this place was so cute. It's a wine bar, tucked to the side of Macallan's that features live music. The ambiance was perfect- dark and mysterious. We ordered a few drinks.... Ely- 10/10! a bold and beautiful glass of cab. So smooth and dry, just how I like them. I had to limit myself to one glass bc of the 40+ miles commute home however wished I had a bottle to bring back with me. Old-fashion is what you'll expect, not my favorite however my friend def enjoyed it. Dirty Duchess martini w/vodka, extra olives was also good! Another gf ordered a berry cocktail and it was yummy! Lastly, espresso martini was the perfect night cap. There was a community painting that you could contribute to... I really was debating on adding to it however thought it looked lovely as is! It was a nice touch as all of the supplies were left out for accessibility. The vibes were great, they had a pianist playing some great songs and there was a live singer that joined around 7:45pm. I agree with another reviewer that this place has a very strong smokey smell. It reminded me of my old next door neighbor who smoked a pack a day- where the odor seeps into the furniture. We took our drinks right outside to get fresh air, but there really isn't much space out there. If this wasn't an issue, it would definitely be a cool hangout spot.
