Came here for birthday dinner for my dear friend and had an amazing time. Reservations are available online via yelp and Benchmark does an amazing job at texting and communciating with you leading up to your dinner! They are heavy on wine so if you or your party loves a good wine tasting or drinking wine, this is the place to be. I picked this place because the pictures, the backyard vibe was super cozy, vibey, intimate, and great for a date night, friends get together, and to celebrate anything! Things to note - their food menu is currently pretty light, parking is street parking... so take some time to find parking, our group didn't have too big of a problem finding parking. A party of 8+ will have an autoamtic gratuity of 22% tip (which with the service and vibes we got, I really didn't mind at all!) We were told if we wanted to bring a cake to cut there is a $3 cake cutting fee, we decided to opt out of bringing a cake and just enjoyed the wine and food. Food menu was limited ( about 10 ish items?) servings are kinda small so with our party of 8 we essentially ordered 2 of each item on the menu ( except for the ceasar salad, the korean tacos, and hummus). Everything was SUPER tasty and the pasta was textbook definition of al dente and I'm thinking about it even now... Apps wise, love the aguachile, loved the pretzel. The stone fruit salad we had was super refreshing. The pastas.. again both were so good. I personally like the vodka pasta more but everyone else loved the pesto one. The flatbread pizza was good, and the mole chicken was one of the moistest chickens i've had in awhile. One thing we wish was on the menu was some sort of steak or red meat... or even a salmon or white fish. With so many wine options a couple friends said they loved the wine and wish they had a steak to pair it with. The somelier was amazing and was super patient with our party considering a majority of us were not huge wine drinkers and gave great recommendations. We did not feel rushed at all, had a great time chatting, drinking, eating, and enjoying the lovely summer night breeze. Parking may be a little tricky, but we were able to park in the back where the dentistry was and found no problems (Keep in mind. This is also on a Saturday night) and finding the building may be a little tricky if it's your first time because it's doesn't look like anything from the front, but the building itself can be spotted because it's painted a dark color on the outside. Inside the ambience was so cute and cozy and just very upscale there's an indoor and patio area which is decorated very nicely and would be very cute for a cutesy cutesy date. Sitting outside is nice, especially at night in the summer when it's not too cold. The service was great. The hosts were amazing and very personable! We did have to wait a little bit for someone to take our order and to get our food, but overall nothing major to complain about. Now for the food. I was honestly was not expecting much, especially because sometimes when you go to a nice/fancy restaurant, the quality of the food is at times, sacrificed. But I can honestly say all the dishes we ordered were 10 out of 10. And I don't think they market their food as farm to table, but it definitely tasted as if it were farm to table and very fresh. Where do I start? Maybe with the magic patio. I call it magic because it was 92 degrees when we left our car and, on the patio it seemed to be 15 degrees cooler with a beautiful breeze and olive trees swaying. A very welcoming outdoor space. Our meal was absolutely fantastic. From the always delicious artichoke fondue (and great pretzels) to the unbelievably tasty korean bbq tacos and caesar salad followed by perfectly prepared Pasta alla Vodka and Chorizo FlatBread. The wine and beer list paired exceptionally well with the food. Didn't have room for any dessert but that's a good excuse to visit again. Duane (with, I suspect, some help from Pedro) has created a wonderful venue with a casual and inviting neighborhood setting. David, our server, made the whole evening perfect. He is welcoming, pleasant, knowledgeable in both wine and food and an overall nice guy. Whether it's a special occasion or you are just going out for a good dinner, you must try Maison Fox. Love this place! Feels like you're in Palm Springs or somewhere in Italy with the olive trees all around the outside patio. A great selection in downtown Fullerton area, away from the hustle bustle. The somewhat hidden entrance from the side gate adds to the charm as you feel that only locals know about this place. Great selection of wine including natural wine. Food is really good too even though still somewhat limited at the moment. Chorizo flatbread is super tasty. The artichoke fondue is so good especially on a cold day. You can choose to be seated in the elegant seating area indoor or the fabulously charming patio outdoor. They even provide guests with nice comfy blankets for the chilly SoCal evenings. read more

Our party of 4 had the best time at Maison Fox. If you've ever been to Benchmark in Santa Ana and you're a fan, you'll want to check Maison Fox out. What used to be a wine shop and tasting room is now a full fledged restaurant, which I imagine will only get better once they have all the permitting to have a fully established kitchen. This isn't to say that the food currently being offered isn't delicious, because it is! We were so impressed that the one chef cooking all the food for the evening created such amazing dishes without a proper kitchen! Because there were 4 of us, we ordered everything on the menu and we definitely left satisfied and dare I say, stuffed. There were a couple of items that weren't available, like the bavarian pretzel and the pasta with vodka sauce, but David (our wonderful server/sommelier) suggested a new pasta dish based on the ingredients they had on hand. We are not experienced with natural wines, but David was so accommodating and patient with us and steered is in the right direction based on our feedback. He worked so hard all night, being the only one taking care of all of the tables but still providing incredible service. The dining space is beautiful. There is a large outdoor patio that I guess is dog friendly now (I don't think it was when it was just Maison Fox) and the indoor dining area feels upscale and intimate. Used to come here a lot when it was only a wine bar so was super excited to come back and try all the food items. Service was amazing, the restaurant has an indoor and outdoor space, both beautiful. Got a bunch of the food items, white and red wines, and their butter cake dessert. All the food was delicious - our favorites being the vodka pasta, bread/cheese dip, and butter cake. Of note, if you come with a large party, there is an automatic 22% gratuity. Minus one star because they charge $3 per person if you bring a cake and eat it there. We were celebrating a birthday with 13 people and was surprised at the extra $39 charge for the cake we brought. Is the first time we came here, the restaurant is about two months old. They have a small menu, but the food is really good. It varies based on the season, and I like that. Took the family to here for my wife's birthday and had a really great time. Maison Fox is mainly a wine bar, but since it's connected to the same owner as Benchmark in Santa Ana, they serve a smaller food menu too. Not a huge selection, but honestly everything we ordered was good. The owner was there throughout the night and could not have been nicer. He kept checking in on us, made sure our wine glasses never stayed empty for long, and was just really accommodating the whole evening. You can tell he genuinely cares about people having a good experience there. We ordered the Caesar salad, Bavarian pretzel, Korean tacos, ahi tuna, miso salmon, chorizo flatbread, a bottle of white wine, and the warm butter cake for dessert. The miso salmon was probably my favorite dish of the night. The Korean tacos were packed with flavor, and the flatbread paired really well with the wine. Even the pretzel disappeared fast once it hit the table. The butter cake at the end sealed the deal. Definitely worth saving room for. The whole place has a relaxed vibe where you can actually sit, talk, eat, and enjoy your night without feeling rushed. Left really happy and already know we'll be back. read more

Hidden Gem Alert! Loved our experience. Dwayne, the owner provided such a special night. The music was just the right volume so I could enjoy great conversation with my dear friend whom I had not seen in months. I ordered the pasta à la vodka and it was divine. I also had the "bespoke" tasting of 4 natural wines. I loved expanding my wine repertoire with Dwayne's guidance. All were lovely, but I especially enjoyed the Chardonnay and interesting Orange blend was definitely different and unique. They rotate the dinner menu every few weeks and I can't wait to see what they do next. The space is beautiful, inside and out. I look forward to dining on the beautiful patio when it gets cooler. This place would be perfect for a small private event as well. I have dined at the Santa Ana location and enjoyed that too. Went into Benchmark at Mason Fox planning to just have a glass of wine outside and ended up staying for brunch, dessert, and champagne. The outdoor seating was really nice and every single thing we ordered was good. The chilaquiles were excellent and the Monte Cristo was easily the standout for me. Dessert was great too and you can tell there's a lot of care put into the food and overall experience here. The owner stopped by and talked with us for a bit which was appreciated.
