Honestly, I'll stick to my go-to Orecchiette alla Salsiccia. I tried Spaghetti e Polpette and I was surprised that I didn't enjoy it: the handmade spaghetti noodle texture was like a bad version of al dente, texture tasted unappetizing, and the meatballs tasted like the frozen kind. Obviously this is a customer favorite, otherwise it wouldn't be on the menu, but it just wasn't the right pasta dish for me and I usually like spaghetti just not at Brunos' lol. Customer service is for the most part consistent and welcoming, but one of the servers we had this past time had an attitude when we asked her to bring napkins or any questions about the menu offerings. The warm complimentary sourdough bread with olive oil and vinegar is always excellent. Moreover, I will stick to my usual Orecchiette dish the next time I come here and I don't recommend the Spaghetti e Polpette dish.
My daughter and I made a reservation at Brunos Italian Kitchen to celebrate our Father's Day. As a single parent, I am her mom AND dad so I am lucky I get to celebrate an additional holiday. I remember how I used to come right after work before covid hit and even celebrated a few birthdays here - those were fun times! The food was good! I don't come as often anymore after I started working remotely. Glad I was able to bring my daughter here. We were quickly seated right upon check in, which was awesome because when I came here a few months ago, I had to wait over 30 minutes on a week night. The hostess who checked me in was very friendly and welcoming. Our server was friendly and checked in on our table often. However, both my daughter and I were out of iced tea but she didn't offer to assist us with getting refills. Instead, she just asked me if I needed a box, so I was thinking most likely, she was in a hurry for us to leave - I honestly think we were there for about an hour. But, I wasn't too bothered by this. I just quickly paid the bill and went next door for dessert. My daughter and I ordered the following: Carpaccio - I love Carpaccio, but unfortunately what was served to me tonight was a HUGE disappointment. The beef came stuck together and the color was a weird shade of brown. It also smelled funny. I've ordered this dish multiple times before (I've even posted a picture of this from a previous visit) so I know it shouldn't look and smell this way. Rigatoni Alfredo 2.0 - (added Chicken) - This was very good. My daughter liked this a lot. She finished everything. Pappardelle Bruno - The braised short ribs were very tender. However, the pasta tasted pretty bland. Overall, my visit today was a 6/10.
Been wanting to check out this spot for a hot minute... this was the day! It's always poppin so you know it's gonna be fire. We made reservations in advance which I definitely recommend since its very popular. We were seated shortly after arrival. The service was 10/10. Very attentive, knowledgeable, and service with a smile. They give you bread & olive oil/vinegar. Try not to finish the whole loaf. But seriously SOOO good. I ordered the Fettuccine al Granchio e Gamberi. Sooo flavorful!!!! I love the creamy sauce and delicious fish. I only wish the pasta was a little bit more al dente. My man ordered the Pappardelle Bruno. He was a big fan, but honestly he liked mine even more. Food was bomb. I'd recommend and I'd come again.
Amazing all around. Parking garage is free and very walkable to the restaurant. There are also many other restaurants and stores around, which made the vibe super cool. I was surprised to see a full house on a Monday evening. However, the wait for a table for 2 was only about 5-10 minutes while we grabbed a drink from the bar. Bartender, Alberto, was super friendly and has a humor. We grabbed the espresso martini and cucumber lillet. Both tasted so good. We got seated and had some complimentary bread and dip, also amazing. We shared the Italian chop salad and it was also delicious. I had their Capesante, yum, forgot to take a photo. Staff checked in on us often to make sure we were doing good. I would highly recommend if you are looking for some great Italian food and drinks.
Located in Brea downtown. We sit on the patio, feels great! Most food we have are delicious. And bonus point, free and plenty of parking!
We came here for my birthday dinner & it was absolutely amazing! We had the Italian chop salad, frito misto & Cesar salad, all is so authentic! I had the Rigatoni Alfredo 2.0 and it was delicious. Albert, our server was awesome and on top of everything! We also had delicious dessert, the tiramisu & rasberry ricotta cake. Everything was a 10/10, my father in law's only critique was that his meatball pasta was a tad dry but that was all. Everything else was so great! Cute interior with a dim lit atmosphere
Brunos Italian Kitchen is located in the heart of downtown Brea on Birch Street. We have eaten here several times and have always had a good experience. It had been a while, so we decided to return. There are a few parking garages very close by as well as a good sized parking lot behind the building by World Market. Seating options include at the bar or in the bar area, plenty of tables and half-table/half booths in the main dining room, and a covered patio area in front that can be enclosed during cold weather. They also have a few tables right out on the sidewalk in front. The kitchen is in plain view at the rear of the restaurant behind a wall of windows. We were immediately greeted by our server John. He offered us their complementary bread, but we're currently on a low carb diet, so we passed on that. Their bread is delicious though, and usually comes out nice and warm along with a dipping bowl of balsamic vinegar and oil and spices. We started out by sharing the Caesar salad ($14) which they split for us in the kitchen. It is served with whole leaves of romaine lettuce, and a lot of freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top. The dressing was very flavorful with a little tang. In addition to croutons, there is even an anchovy on top. This was one of the best Caesar salads I've in a long time, and I would order my own next time. I decided to have a glass of wine and ordered the Tenuta Caparzo Sangiovese ($12.50). I forgot to take a picture of the glass, but wow what a generous pour. It was definitely more than your standard 6 oz pour. It was a great tasting Sangio and what a bargain for under $13. She had the Cucumber Lillet cocktail (Tanquery Gin, Cucumber, Mint, Lillet Blanc, Honey, $15.50). As good of a pour as my wine was, this martini glass seemed a little larger than normal also, and a healthy pour up to the rim. It was very balanced and refreshing. They honey was nicely noticeable with a hint of gin in the background. For dinner, I had the flat iron steak ($35) with roasted cauliflower and I asked to substitute the roasted potatoes with green beans instead. The steak was a good size and cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. The sauce was so good, I dipped everything in it. The veggies were fresh and prepared well. The cipollini onions were heavenly. I probably went over my daily carb count between the sauce and onions, but it was worth it. She had the salmon ($25) with roasted cauliflower and also substituted the creamy polenta with green beans. It was a good size slice of salmon and cooked well done as requested. She enjoyed it and also dipped everything in the sauce. There aren't a lot of places you can get a piece of salmon with two sides for under $30, so this was a good deal. Our server John was very friendly and provided excellent service. The atmosphere is great and relaxed. Great food, healthy pours, friendly attentive service, and great prices. What's not to love?
Food was delish! The staff was friendly and made sure we were delighted with their service. Ruth made sure we had cold water pitchers refilled. Advised us of their specials for the day. It's a lil loud bec of the fifa game on the tv but it's fine given that it's fifa fever. Very important that you book a reservation cause it can get very busy.
Food: - carpaccio: 8/10, great dressing - bruschetta: 9.5/10, huge portion - pappardelle: 9/10, so flavorful, wish the sauce was more creamy - shrimp fettuccine: 10/10, mentaiko really tied it together! - peach cocktail: 8/10, not too sweet - caramel pudding: 9.5/10, so yummy, chocolate is semi sweet Service: - even though the restaurant was busy at least 4 different staff checked in with us - food came out fast - friendly staff and short wait times Ambiance: - great vibes - open air - walkable shops nearby
I failed to make a reservation for the weekend but we managed to get seated within 15 minutes of checking with the hostess. We arrived by 5 and it was already quite busy. I had overheard that the wait was well over an hour by the time we left. Highly advise reservation are made for the weekends. Service was great, atmosphere is loud and great for a group. Also fun for a date night but not the environment if you're looking for something quiet. Food was solid, the fresh pasta is an added plus. Portions appeared to be smaller than the average Italian spot but there was still plenty of food.
BRING BACK Wednesday Wine-D Down with 50% off wine bottles and 25% off Pastas!! Good old days :,) We don't come here as often since the happy menu changes but this recent visit we ordered the Orecchiette alla Salsiccia and Rigatoni Alfredo, of the two the Rigatoni Alfredo was best. The Orcchiette had an off sea food hint to it. I'd stick to the classic Pappardelle Bruno...
Looking for a nice spot to connect and talk with someone over some delicious pasta? Bruno's is a great pick. Looking to be stuffed and getting a bunch of food for your buck? Maybe look somewhere else. Bruno's Italian Kitchen has its place as an awesome choice for a night out with friends or a networking dinner. It's cozy, with a dimmed light aesthetic and lively atmosphere. There are TVs throughout the restaurant playing the ongoing sports game that night, whether it be your favorite football team or just the regular Wednesday night basketball. The service here is phenomenal. You can tell that the servers at Bruno's care about their guests, and that it is at the top of their list to foster relationships that keep guests coming back. As for the food, it's everything you look for when getting pasta. Delicious, perfectly cooked pasta noodles with great choices for protein and craveable sauces. Their appetizers are delicious and always hit the spot. Their bread is complementary and absolutely delicious. I was looking around to see if I could get a hundred orders of it. The only criticism I have of this place isn't really a criticism. The portions are quite small, and prices are quite steep for some of the appetizers (namely the meatballs, you get 3 for $18). If you're looking to be full, maybe steer clear of Bruno's. But if you're looking for a delicious food experience, this is the spot. 8.5/10.
Bruno's Italian Kitchen in Brea absolutely delivered. We came in for the Monday lasagna special and it was fantastic, taste like a family recipe straight out of Italy! The whole meal felt warm and comforting in that classic Italian way, and every bite tasted like it came from a kitchen that takes pride in what they serve. What really elevated the night, though, was the hospitality. Our server Emily was 5$3 best. She was friendly, attentive, and paced everything perfectly without ever making us feel rushed. On top of that, the managers Dee and Tim were outstanding. They were present, welcoming, and genuinely made sure we were taken care of, which says a lot about how well this place is run. If you're looking for a spot with great Italian food and staff that makes you feel like a regular on your first visit, Bruno's is the move. We'll definitely be back.

service. AWESOME. super attentive waitress. SO patient (i was there for a team dinner lolz). and she was a baddie (that's just a bonus) !!!! free bread. BEST FREE BREAD I'VE EVER HAD. also are you kidding me guys their freaking olive oil vinegar concoction had like gARLIC BITS IN IT omfg life changing. flat iron steak!!! i ordered it medium rare and it was a lil overcooked but still delicious, so i have no real complaints. potatoes were PERF but the onions were weird (i love onions and was expecting that sweet/savory caramelized flavor¿) but ngl it was slightly sour... but THATS OKAY it could just be me. anyways, i was VERY satisfied. read more
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Your server will bring out a basket of fresh bread and it is so amazing!! I always crave it. My partner and I shared the Orecchiette alla Salsiccia (my favorite) and I had a glass of the Moscato. I ended up getting a whole bottle because their wine bottles are 50% off on Wednesdays! The restaurant isn't too big but they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating! I prefer the indoor seating and you can actually see into the kitchen which I think is pretty cool. The service is always top tier :) read more

Yes, we are frequent diners here! Brunos is one of our favorite places to dine! Tim, Dee and their staff always make us feel like family with their warm welcomes and top notch service! Every weekend, a special three course menu is featured and this weekend, my absolutely favorite pasta dish was offered!...Spaghettini Alla Checca!!! The marinara sauce is so flavorful and not acidic at all. In fact, it's very smooth and sweet tasting! It also had small chunks of mozzarella cheese and sweet heirloom tomatoes! Emily was an amazing server and took great care of our party of three! Our other favorite servers are Rachel, Jake, John and Alberto! This place never disappoints! Give it a try and I guarantee you'll be repeat diners here! read more

Long overdue for a review. Brunos Italian Kitchen in Downtown Brea is one of the upscale restaurant. When I came inside, it was very busy, especially it's getting closer to the holiday season. I sat at the bar area to avoid some wait time. Tonight is Lasagna Monday at Brunos.... For $20, I got lasagna with garlic bread and caesar salad. For drink I got me some limoncello drop. One of the most tasty drink to have at night. I started off with a caesar salad, good stuff. Next up.... The best thing to have.... even Garfield said so.... Lasagna with garlic bread. Heavenly good, great flavor, I must say that was absolute delicious dinner at a reasonable price. Now, I've been here a very few times in the past. Now, I actually tried other items before. I would have gotten something else, I just can't say no to lasagna tonight. The bartender that served me tonight was amazing. Cool dude. Atmosphere.... Nice and dark.... highly recommend if you're out on a date. Overall.....5 stars. read more

First time at Bruno's. Our son brought us here to try their fresh homemade pasta. We had a small wait for our table even though we had a reservation. The restaurant was packed and the noise volume was high. Signs that the restaurant is good. We ordered 4 different pasta dishes so we could taste more and have a fuller experience. We were not disappointed. The food was good and we had a lovely time. read more
Came with friends for my wife's Birthday. We were seated after 5 min wait and friendly server got our drink order out quickly. My signature Old Fashioned was unique and tasted great! My wife's Branzini was above her expectations. I ordered the short rib pappardelle which i really enjoyed! A complimentary dessert was brought out for my wife and we all shared. We will be coming back again to explore the menu. read more
Who would have thunk that there would be a good place to eat in Brea? Well tickled me lasagna because this place was fantastic! We were greeted warmly by the host and that energy carried over throughout the dinner experience. From our super friendly server Jake to everyone else we came across.... we certainly had a lovely excursion at this new gem we discovered. Great drinks and that ciabatta bread were so tasty. I believe my favorites for the evening were the super creamy lasagna and the branzino. *chef's kiss* Honestly all the dishes we did order were wonderful. I think on our next trip, and we will return, I'd like to try the spaghetti with Nonna Maria's meatballs. I was torn to get this or the branzino, but our server swayed us. Perfect choice honestly. Maybe even the salmon next. We left the restaurant with smiles. Cannot wait for our next visit! Prost! read more
Fun on a Friday night in Downtown Brea. Plenty of structure parking, walkable to movies, color me mine, and shopping. Attentive staff and a manger that checked in with all the guest in a genuine way. Warm interior with a variety of high top, booth, traditional, patio, bar seating and an open kitchen. Warm, fresh bread. The meatballs and pesto were amazing. My guest had a full price menu item, I had prefix menu, 2 cocktails and unfortunately they did not accept the $20 promo card. Towards the end we felt a little rushed as they wanted to turn over the table on a busy Friday night. Overall enjoyable meal. read more

It saddens me to give this restaurant a two stars review. My husband and I have been coming here for many years to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. It used to be one of my favorite restaurants. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation. We checked in promptly after arrival. We waited and waited as many people that have arrived after us got seated. I checked with the hostess three times and she kept telling me it will be just a few more minutes. I noticed there were quite a few small tables available but she refused to seat us. Finally we were seated after waiting for over 20 minutes. We ordered one of the weekend specials which included an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. We also ordered an entree from the regular priced menu. Here are my ratings for each dish: (1) shrimp cocktail salad : 3 stars This dish comes with 5 shrimps over a bed of greens (mostly arugula). One of the shrimps tasted fishy. I liked the arugula. The salad is lightly dressed. (2) Pappardelle Bruno: 3 stars. I think the short ribs should be more tender. It was a bit too salty. (3) Spaghetti e Polpette (with meatballs): 2.5 stars The meatballs were dry. Also it could use more sauce. The pasta was cooked just right. (4) Panna Cotta. 4 stars. This was the best dish of the night. I had ordered Panna Cotta but the waitress got it wrong and gave us Tiramisu. I will overlook this minor mistake. We ended up with the correct dessert. Over the years, when we come to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries, we were always given a complimentary dessert. Tonight we didn't get a complimentary dessert even though the waitress knows we are celebrating our anniversary. Again, I am going to overlook that since I don't really need all that sugar. When the bill came, I gave them a Bruno's gift card, a Bruno's bonus card and my credit card to pay for the remaining balance not covered by those gift cards. I was told I cannot use the $20 Bonus Card because the system can only accept one promo at a time. I can understand that the Bonus card cannot be applied toward the Special prized weekend deal but one of the meal is a regular priced item. Also, the Bruno's gift card is supposed to be good as cash, not a promo card! All in all, this evening was NOT a pleasant one. Needless to say, Bruno's is no longer one of my favorite restaurants. I have noticed the last two times I visited, the food was not as good as before. Reminder to myself: Don't buy anymore Bruno's gift cards and forget about getting the extra $20 bonus card. It is not worth it. The $20 bonus card has too many restrictions!! One last comment. I do not like their All Gender restrooms. The way it is set up where only one person can use it at a time created a long wait line outside the restrooms. Someone could be inside putting on makeup and that would hold up everyone else that needs to use the toilet. And the wait line gets in the way of their employees going in and out of the kitchen. read more
Came to Bruno's to celebrate my birthday tonight and it did not disappoint. I had been here once before and I wanted to try something different this time. My dish was absolutely delicious! The salad was ok but it was nothing special but the fritto was amazing. For the entree I got a cioppino which was good but a little salty. read more

Made reservations for my family and I here on a whim having us be out-of-towners! We were so pleasantly surprised by the wonderful service by our server John R. He was so attentive and made sure we had a wonderful experience by getting us refills, extra bread, etc. Our food even came out within 10 minutes even though it was extremely busy. He even gave me and my family extra desserts because of my graduation this morning. Definitely will be back whenever we are in town. Thank you for the great experience! read more

I came during OC Restaurant Week 2026 on a Saturday at 8:30PM. There was plenty of parking in the garage, which is about a 4 minute walk away. The wait was about 20 minute with a reservation. It was packed and quite a loud environment. For the appetizer, the Fritto Misto was flavorful. The vegetables were my favorite. The crust for the squid and shrimp were a bit soft and the squid was slightly chewy for my personal liking. For the entrée, the lasagna was cooked really nicely and packed full of flavor and had good texture. One small thing that caught my eye was the presentation of the lasagna. It looked like a blob and not appetizing, but was actually good. Finally for the dessert, I chose the panna cotta. Never tried one before but I liked the texture and the fruity/tart flavor. Overall a pretty decent meal. The portion sizes are quite generous as well. I was stuffed by end of the meal and had plenty of leftovers. read more

Very much enjoyed their Wednesday 25% off pasta dinner. Ordered, shared and loved 4 of the appetizers as well: fresh mozzarella burrata and salad, arancini balls, fritto misto and mussels & clams. Also a huge shout out to the warm & yummy freshly baked comp bread that we shamelessly layered with carb upon precious carb! That and my lemon drop martini set the stage for a fantastic meal anchored by the Bruno pappardelle with tender short rib and al dente pasta! Yum in every bite. My husband also loved his shrimp and crab fettucine - huge serving and generous with seafood. I'll order that next time! Also plotting our return to try the Monday night lasagna special - something to look forward to! Thank you to Alberto- our efficient and friendly server for a lovely mid-week dinner. read more

First time trying Bruno's Italian Kitchen and I am pleased with my experience. We came here post-Valentine's day for dinner and the place was packed and busy. The restaurant has a warm, relaxed and easygoing vibe. A "family-style" kind of place where you can enjoy a meal with your companions. There are television screens on the wall and the interior is simple yet classy with dim lighting. Our server was very accommodating. They serve a complimentary warm and soft bread with a vinaigrette dip. It was good and the balsamic sauce is very well-balanced and not acidic. For the main dishes, we had the Lasagna since it's one of their featured item, and true enough it really should be. The pasta was al dente and the sauce was the right blend of savory, creamy, tomato and herbs. The portion was big and it was very filling. We also had the pork entree and it was savory and seasoned well. The meat was tender and flavorful in every bite. It was served with potatoes and greens. For dessert, we had the tiramisu, it was good and not too sweet or overpowering. A good palate cleanser and it was just the right dish to end the night. read more

This was such an amazing restaurant and in such a good area! Birch street is so cute & theres lots to explore. Our server John was so kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. He was mindful of my husbands allergies and made our experience a great one. The food was good & I loved my aperol spritz! Not to mention the fluffy and fresh bread to start out. I highly recommend this spot for a date, work meal, or whatever occasion brings you in! read more
