This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Your server will bring out a basket of fresh bread and it is so amazing!! I always crave it. My partner and I shared the Orecchiette alla Salsiccia (my favorite) and I had a glass of the Moscato. I ended up getting a whole bottle because their wine bottles are 50% off on Wednesdays! The restaurant isn't too big but they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating! I prefer the indoor seating and you can actually see into the kitchen which I think is pretty cool. Amazing all around. Parking garage is free and very walkable to the restaurant. There are also many other restaurants and stores around, which made the vibe super cool. I was surprised to see a full house on a Monday evening. However, the wait for a table for 2 was only about 5-10 minutes while we grabbed a drink from the bar. Bartender, Alberto, was super friendly and has a humor. We grabbed the espresso martini and cucumber lillet. Both tasted so good. We got seated and had some complimentary bread and dip, also amazing. My daughter and I made a reservation at Brunos Italian Kitchen to celebrate our Father's Day. As a single parent, I am her mom AND dad so I am lucky I get to celebrate an additional holiday. I remember how I used to come right after work before covid hit and even celebrated a few birthdays here - those were fun times! The food was good! I don't come as often anymore after I started working remotely. Glad I was able to bring my daughter here. We were quickly seated right upon check in, which was awesome because when I came here a few months ago, I had to wait over 30 minutes on a week night. The hostess who checked me in was very friendly and welcoming. Our server was friendly and checked in on our table often. However, both my daughter and I were out of iced tea but she didn't offer to assist us with getting refills. Instead, she just asked me if I needed a box, so I was thinking most likely, she was in a hurry for us to leave - I honestly think we were there for about an hour. But, I wasn't too bothered by this. I just quickly paid the bill and went next door for dessert. My daughter and I ordered the following: Carpaccio - I love Carpaccio, but unfortunately what was served to me tonight was a HUGE disappointment. The beef came stuck together and the color was a weird shade of brown. It also smelled funny. I've ordered this dish multiple times before (I've even posted a picture of this from a previous visit) so I know it shouldn't look and smell this way. Craving Italian food for dinner. My husband decided to try Bruno's (1st time) on a Thursday because we like avoiding weekend crowds. Upon entering, we noticed a lively friendly vibe. There were counter height tables, but we asked to be seated at a regular table so I wouldn't need to climb up. Low lighting throughout the restaurant, so we took out our cell phone lights in order to read the menu...kind of romantic, especially with a cute little candle on the table. It was a candle with a real flame! Well, luckily for my Honey, Brunos had a $29 special that included salad, tiramisu for dessert and Ciopinno with fish, shrimp, clams, and mussels. I ordered the lasagna al forno. Our waiter, Jake M. was attentive, expedient and warm. There's something magical about crusty warm bread and balsamic olive oil, just waiting to be dipped. So good! Jake asked if we'd like more? Sure! After Hubby finished his meal, he happily declared his contentment: the salad was fresh, Ciopinno was excellent and the tiramisu was the best he had ever tasted! Brunos Italian Kitchen is located in the heart of downtown Brea on Birch Street. We have eaten here several times and have always had a good experience. It had been a while, so we decided to return. There are a few parking garages very close by as well as a good sized parking lot behind the building by World Market. Seating options include at the bar or in the bar area, plenty of tables and half-table/half booths in the main dining room, and a covered patio area in front that can be enclosed during cold weather. They also have a few tables right out on the sidewalk in front. The kitchen is in plain view at the rear of the restaurant behind a wall of windows. We were immediately greeted by our server John. He offered us their complementary bread, but we're currently on a low carb diet, so we passed on that. Their bread is delicious though, and usually comes out nice and warm along with a dipping bowl of balsamic vinegar and oil and spices. We started out by sharing the Caesar salad ($14) which they split for us in the kitchen. It is served with whole leaves of romaine lettuce, and a lot of freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top. The dressing was very flavorful with a little tang. In addition to croutons, there is even an anchovy on top. This was one of the best Caesar salads I've in a long time, and I would order my own next time. I decided to have a glass of wine and ordered the Tenuta Caparzo Sangiovese ($12.50). I forgot to take a picture of the glass, but wow what a generous pour. It was definitely more than your standard 6 oz pour. It was a great tasting Sangio and what a bargain for under $13. She had the Cucumber Lillet cocktail (Tanquery Gin, Cucumber, Mint, Lillet Blanc, Honey, $15.50). As good of a pour as my wine was, this martini glass seemed a little larger than normal also, and a healthy pour up to the rim. It was very balanced and refreshing. They honey was nicely noticeable with a hint of gin in the background. For dinner, I had the flat iron steak ($35) with roasted cauliflower and I asked to substitute the roasted potatoes with green beans instead. The steak was a good size and cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. The sauce was so good, I dipped everything in it. The veggies were fresh and prepared well. The cipollini onions were heavenly. I probably went over my daily carb count between the sauce and onions, but it was worth it. She had the salmon ($25) with roasted cauliflower and also substituted the creamy polenta with green beans. It was a good size slice of salmon and cooked well done as requested. She enjoyed it and also dipped everything in the sauce. There aren't a lot of places you can get a piece of salmon with two sides for under $30, so this was a good deal. Our server John was very friendly and provided excellent service. The atmosphere is great and relaxed. Great food, healthy pours, friendly attentive service, and great prices. I failed to make a reservation for the weekend but we managed to get seated within 15 minutes of checking with the hostess. We arrived by 5 and it was already quite busy. I had overheard that the wait was well over an hour by the time we left. Highly advise reservation are made for the weekends. Service was great, atmosphere is loud and great for a group. We were greeted warmly by the host and that energy carried over throughout the dinner experience. It saddens me to give this restaurant a two stars review. My husband and I have been coming here for many years to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. It used to be one of my favorite restaurants. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation. We checked in promptly after arrival. We waited and waited as many people that have arrived after us got seated. I checked with the hostess three times and she kept telling me it will be just a few more minutes. I noticed there were quite a few small tables available but she refused to seat us. Finally we were seated after waiting for over 20 minutes. We ordered one of the weekend specials which included an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. We also ordered an entree from the regular priced menu. Here are my ratings for each dish: (1) shrimp cocktail salad : 3 stars This dish comes with 5 shrimps over a bed of greens (mostly arugula). One of the shrimps tasted fishy. I liked the arugula. The salad is lightly dressed. (2) Pappardelle Bruno: 3 stars. I think the short ribs should be more tender. It was a bit too salty. (3) Spaghetti e Polpette (with meatballs): 2.5 stars The meatballs were dry. Also it could use more sauce. The pasta was cooked just right. (4) Panna Cotta. 4 stars. This was the best dish of the night. I had ordered Panna Cotta but the waitress got it wrong and gave us Tiramisu. I will overlook this minor mistake. We ended up with the correct dessert. Over the years, when we come to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries, we were always given a complimentary dessert. Tonight we didn't get a complimentary dessert even though the waitress knows we are celebrating our anniversary. Again, I am going to overlook that since I don't really need all that sugar. When the bill came, I gave them a Bruno's gift card, a Bruno's bonus card and my credit card to pay for the remaining balance not covered by those gift cards. I was told I cannot use the $20 Bonus Card because the system can only accept one promo at a time. I can understand that the Bonus card cannot be applied toward the Special prized weekend deal but one of the meal is a regular priced item. Also, the Bruno's gift card is supposed to be good as cash, not a promo card! All in all, this evening was NOT a pleasant one. Needless to say, Bruno's is no longer one of my favorite restaurants. I have noticed the last two times I visited, the food was not as good as before. Reminder to myself: Don't buy anymore Bruno's gift cards and forget about getting the extra $20 bonus card. It is not worth it. The $20 bonus card has too many restrictions!! One last comment. I do not like their All Gender restrooms. The way it is set up where only one person can use it at a time created a long wait line outside the restrooms. Someone could be inside putting on makeup and that would hold up everyone else that needs to use the toilet. And the wait line gets in the way of their employees going in and out of the kitchen. read more

I came during OC Restaurant Week 2026 on a Saturday at 8:30PM. There was plenty of parking in the garage, which is about a 4 minute walk away. The wait was about 20 minute with a reservation. It was packed and quite a loud environment. For the appetizer, the Fritto Misto was flavorful. The vegetables were my favorite. The crust for the squid and shrimp were a bit soft and the squid was slightly chewy for my personal liking. For the entrée, the lasagna was cooked really nicely and packed full of flavor and had good texture. One small thing that caught my eye was the presentation of the lasagna. It looked like a blob and not appetizing, but was actually good. Finally for the dessert, I chose the panna cotta. Never tried one before but I liked the texture and the fruity/tart flavor. We heard about Bruno's from a friend. The experience started off with warm bread with the tastiest oil and vinegar mixture. Starters were Caesar salad with nicely crisp romaine, a perfect dressing with a couple of small anchovies to just highlight the overall experience. It's unfortunate because I love cha Chas but Bruno's does not uphold any sort of quality when it comes to their food or drinks. Non of their dishes stick out to me. My last visit we got Arancini to share for the table which was dry and lacked flavor. We got a few pasta dishes, and a bottle of wine and nothing was good. First time trying Bruno's Italian Kitchen and I am pleased with my experience. We came here post-Valentine's day for dinner and the place was packed and busy. The restaurant has a warm, relaxed and easygoing vibe. A "family-style" kind of place where you can enjoy a meal with your companions. There are television screens on the wall and the interior is simple yet classy with dim lighting. Our server was very accommodating. They serve a complimentary warm and soft bread with a vinaigrette dip. It was good and the balsamic sauce is very well-balanced and not acidic. For the main dishes, we had the Lasagna since it's one of their featured item, and true enough it really should be. The pasta was al dente and the sauce was the right blend of savory, creamy, tomato and herbs. The portion was big and it was very filling. We also had the pork entree and it was savory and seasoned well. The meat was tender and flavorful in every bite. It was served with potatoes and greens. This is more of a bar review even though we did sit at a table. My friend and I had just had dinner elsewhere and were walking in downtown Brea and dashed in here during an unexpected downpour. We were very warmly greeted and immediately seated. Our service was exceptional - friendly and attentive. We were brought a bread basket and ordered glasses of wine and a charcuterie board. Their wine list is excellent with a great variety of choices. Most of the reds are fron Italy or the California central coast. I picked Monte Antico Super Tuscan which was superb. The charcuterie board had a nice variety of cheeses, meats, olives, pickled veggies, and a few slices of grilled ciabatta; all delicious. Before a night full of laughs at the Brea comedy club, we enjoyed this delicious Italian meal at Bruno's. Our first time here, we were pleasantly surprised as the food was delicious. Ordered: - Complimentary bread (4/5): The bread was amazing! It was flavorful in its own and loved how soft the inside was while crispy on the outside. Only docked a point because we would've liked to have the olive oil and basalmic vinegar at the table to pour how we'd like it rather than have a pre-poured mixture brought out. - Board with salami and cheese (2/5): Honestly wasn't the greatest cheese board. The cheeses were dry, there was a pretty small portion for the price, and we didn't love the selections or the pairings. I'm glad we tried it during happy hour at least. - Chef's specials (tomato soup, short rib ravioli, panna cotta): - Tomato soup (4/5): The soup was nicely seasoned and the perfect amount of creaminess but it came out lukewarm even though the bowl was hot, which threw us off. - Short rib ravioli (4/5): The portion looked deceiving small but each ravioli was packed with meat and the sauce's heaviness meant this dish was more than filling. The heaviness of it can get a bit overwhelming so we wish we had ordered something to maybe help cut through - but it was still delicious. - Panna cotta (4/5): Loved the texture of this but I found it too sweet especially on a full stomach. My gf enjoyed this a lot though! - Tiramisu (5/5): This was given to us on the house! And I'm glad I got to try this because this tasted amazing. I loved the texture which just kind of melts in my mouth and the mild sweetness and coffee notes. Overall (5/5): Note: We went here back in July but never got around to posting this review. We came to Bruno's somewhat full already so we didn't order much. Our meal was highlighted incredible hospitality from Alberto, our server, and the manager (who we didn't get the name of, sadly) when they gave us desserts on the house. We ordered a weekend chef special - the weekend chef specials change every week and it's well worth the price for the three courses to try new creative items. We'd definitely want to come back to try more! We were lucky enough this time to be able walk in and grab seats on a Sunday night but next time we'd probably make reservations to grab seats at a table in the dining area instead of at the high tables near the bar. The restaurant itself was pretty noisy but we weren't too bothered by it. read more
