I don't often give 5-star reviews but when I do it's well deserved. Had this restaurant saved in my collection 4-ever and finally went for a birthday celebration. Could not have been happier. From the moment we walked through the heavy wooden door (fancy!) until we left- the host, the waitress, server, manager and even the owner were amazingly attentive and welcoming. When it's your birthday they put a nice sign at your table and everyone stops by to wish you an amazing bday. They also check in to make sure you're having a good time and enjoying your delicious meal. Now for the food: fresh, al dente and tasty. All adjectives you want running through your mind after the first bitesss. We ordered stuffed mushroom- hot and nicely seasoned. Mushrooms not overcooked and stuffing not overly cheesy. The shrimp linguine another hit with fresh tomatoes and jumbo shrimp with a nice snap. The light seasoning with lots of garlic was just perfect. We also ordered the beef short ribs. My friend said it melted on her mouth and the fresh mash potatoes- just right. Did I mention the portions were huge! Lots of goodies to take with us. To add to the dining experience we watched as patrons steadily came and went throughout the evening. You can tell this is a favorite for many. The service was great as the server recommended drinks and brought out food quickly. The drinks are priced very reasonably in today's environment. A bottle of Josh is $40 and this is a nicer version of Josh. For dinner, I ordered a filet mignon medium. My co worker ordered the same but well done. They gave it to us correctly initially but came and said we needed to switch. After we cut our steaks, we needed to switch back. Overall, it's a nice and cool Italian restaurant. I really wanted to love 19seventy, but unfortunately, the poor kitchen execution and incredibly inattentive service ruined our lunch. The meal started out well with the Caprese, which was actually good. Next came our entree, the carbonara was even worse and by far the biggest disappointment of the meal--the pasta was so overcooked that the sauce completely dried up and turned into scrambled eggs. The "poached egg" on top was also completely well-done, so it literally felt like eating boiled eggs with dry, bland pasta. After that, they brought out our other appetizer, the stuffed mushrooms, which were also noticeably under-seasoned. Finally, the pizza arrived, which was decent, but it's pretty hard to mess up a pizza. The service just made everything worse. Our server told us right at the beginning that sourdough bread was coming out, but it never arrived--we only realized it after we paid the check. Our water glasses were never refilled once throughout our stay. To top it off, when the desserts were brought out, our server just dropped them in the middle of our large table without giving us any small plates and completely disappeared. Because we were seated at the large table, it was really awkward for everyone to reach and share. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience with the lady at the front. My entire group felt she had a rude tone when we were asking regular questions. Melontini (4/5) - This drink was spirit forward and came with a cute melon ball on the side. I slightly wish it was a little fruitier. I was in the mood for Italian and remembered a place in Whittier called Lascaris, which is now called 19Seventy. My mom used to come here often when it was family-owned, so I was curious to try it again--though I'm not sure if it's still family-run. This was a 30 min drive for us so we'd hope it would be worth it, which it was. First impressions were great. The restaurant looks beautiful from the outside, and the inside is just as inviting. We were greeted and seated right away near the bar area. I came with my boyfriend and our 3-year-old, and we were excited to try the menuit had a nice variety of pasta, seafood, and steak options. The bread and butter were so good--we couldn't stop eating it and even ordered more (which we knew wasn't complimentary after reviewing the menu. We started with stuffed mushrooms, truffle fries and two mezcal cocktails recommended by our server one kiwi drink and one hibiscus. Both drinks were excellent. The truffle fries, yummy. For entrees, my boyfriend had the fettuccine alfredo with shrimp, and I ordered the chicken piccata with lemon pasta and vegetables. We also got a kids' spaghetti with a meatball. Everything tasted delicious, no complaints on the food itself. However, a few things brought the experience down. My son loved his meatball, so I ordered an extra one, assuming it would be a small add-on charge. To my surprise, it was $8 for a single meatball--the same price as the entire kids' meal. The menu listed a $2 add-on for a meatball on the child's meal itself, so this felt unexpected and honestly a bit excessive. Our bill came to $160 which seems to be the going rate these days for a nice meal a couple of drinks. Another issue was the temperature, it got noticeably cold where we were sitting. I mentioned it to our server, and while he said he'd check on it, it didn't seem to improve and actually felt colder as time went on. This just got really uncomfortable, that I didn't really get to enjoy my creme brulee, even had to wait to ask for another spoon, at this point I was just ready to leave. Service was just a bit inconsistent. Our server started off friendly and energetic, but that attentiveness faded, and we found ourselves having to flag him down several times. It just didn't feel as smooth as it could have been. When we first sat down, I told my boyfriend this was shaping up to be a 5-star experience, the ambiance, food, and drinks were all there. But by the end, I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. We still tipped 18% in cash, which felt fair, though I usually tip closer to 20-25% when service matches the experience. Overall, the food and atmosphere are definitely worth coming back for. Our waters were filled quickly once we sat down, and Aidan came by to greet us shortly after. Our group shared several dishes: the Calamari ($18), Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken ($24), Rigatoni alla Vodka with Chicken ($24), Pepperoni Pizza ($18), and the Short Rib Pappardelle ($69). The person that answered the phone let me know that at that time walk up was only a 20 minute wait. However we still had to commute from a localish city. We ended ordering the short rib pasta that is prepared table side in a Parmesan cheese wheel. Out server did let us know it might be a bit of a wait due to it's popularity and how many people ordered it. The remake to 19Seventy is suppose to be a classy upscale Italian restaurant experience that has failed miserably in my opinion. They knocked out a wall and added wood accents and got rid of the deli upfront. It is high school cafeteria at best and the food just wasn't good. I have had better spaghetti out of a can. We had the stuffed mushrooms that weren't even edible. I'm not even sure what it was stuffed with but wow you had to really work to screw this up. The Lasagna literally had zero sauce and was like luke warm at best. But hey the little rolls were good. Way way overpriced and if you are going somewhere to celebrate any occasion I would steer clear of this place. They literally had two waiters that couldn't handle what they were given as such they didn't have time to come back and refill drinks or even check in with their guests. Our server was Ashley and she was so friendly and sweet! She answered all our questions and was very attentive to us throughout the dinner! We had a great experience booking this location for our party for over 20 people. The decor was very classy and welcoming, and we loved the Italian touch. Our tall waiter was very accommodating and friendly, as well as the manager, Darrel. They did a great job getting to our table for a smooth and fun dining experience. We enjoyed the fried mozzarella and the garlic bread along with the pizza and pasta dishes that were part of our family meal option. We were also very appreciative to be able to order additional dishes as needed. The Rigatoni was excellent, that was our fave. I wish the Alfredo was not so watery, but the flavor was great. The bowls were pretty large, which is great in shareable theory, but a bit more challenging/heavy to pass around considering the amount of people we had sitting along the row of tables. Remember the old Lascari's? The old vibe always made me think of a nursing home dining room. The food was always good, but the atmosphere just didn't quite hit the mark. Well, this place has had a complete makeover and is now wayyyy more upscale. - Vibe and Wine We walked in and decided to sit at the bar. The interior is beautiful, and their wine display cases really caught my eye. I was a bit bummed that, despite such a lovely display, the wine choices were a bit limited. The options start at a low price point (La Crema) and then there are some really sweet (jammy) choices, followed by some really high-priced bottles, but not much in between. I know this location is a community favorite and has been for over fifty years, with all the local doctors dining here, but we'd really appreciate seeing some more regular options. Maybe a few boutique wines from Paso, some unique bubbles, and other more affordable choices? - Bar and Food We walked in and chose to sit at the bar because that's usually where you get good service. Unfortunately, the bartender, Kelly, was very slow and seemed a bit lost. I heard her say several times that she was exhausted. It took her about ten minutes to get our drink order, and we were there for at least half an hour before we actually had a drink. It took almost forty-five minutes to get our food order placed. (She even went into the kitchen to make sure the dish I ordered didn't have any cream.) She came back and repeated our order. (Put a pin in this for later.) Kelly was busy, and the manager had to step in several times to help her get organized. She couldn't talk and work at the same time. In between having four guests at the bar, making drinks for the service bar, checking her phone, and trying to chat with guests, she just couldn't handle everything. She seemed friendly enough, but she was so much of a liability that it made us wonder if she might be related to the owners. After another 30 minutes, the guests next to us finally get their food, but we're still waiting. Kelly comes over and asks if we placed a food order for us. We tell her yes, a while back! She checks the computer and says she doesn't see anything. What?!!! This woman can't seem to multitask at all. We're so disappointed and hangry now. Fifteen minutes later, our food finally arrives. Kelly says, "My bad, dessert is on me." Seriously--no manager to come and apologize, nothing comped, just continued bad service and a full-price meal and cocktails that took three times longer than they should have. We were so disappointed because the food is delicious, but honestly, after a stressful day, I don't have the patience for utterly poor service. (Zero crowd here at the time which was in between lunch/dinner hour) As I mentioned before, the Manager came behind the bar multiple times to assist and clear dishes that sat atop the bar for long periods. A young man came on duty and immediately started hustling! He handled more in ten minutes than Kelly did our entire visit. Kelly even started griping to him that the manager was on her case because she was so behind. She couldn't even complain and make a drink simultaneously. She literally stopped everything to complain to her coworker. While the vibe and food all meet expectations, the service missed the mark by miles and really ruined our desire to ever want to return. We ate here last week and enjoyed the food a lot so we decided to eat here again. We also saw the two tables next to us order their specialty which is a short rib pasta that is made table side in a large cheese wheel. First off the service both times was excellent as waiters were very attentive. We did not order appetizers besides some garlic bread, because we all shared salads. Their Cesar salad is really good and we also added avocados to it. Pizzas were very good and their pastas were good. We thought the short rib pasta was ok as it was very rich and you mostly only tasted the cheese. I enjoyed the chicken Marsala I ordered on my first visit better. We also shared deserts that were good but just your standard types. Hint: I would recommend reservations as it is not a big restaurant and last night being a Monday, all tables were taken. read more

I came as a group of 5 for a birthday lunch. Nice place for brunch/lunch - nice modern Italian restaurant vibes. Spacious. Great service overall - we even got a happy birthday sign and complimentary birthday cannoli. Our server and the manager(?) was super friendly. Lattes - they over steam the milk, it is way too hot. We burned our tongues. Be careful. We got Caesar and salmon salad - both were great. Highly recc the salmon salad - salmon perfectly cooked and the vinaigrette with baby kale is delicious. We got the short rib pappardelle that comes with table side service. Two portions - very generous size actually. Pasta is good and shortibs are tender. Flavor profile did not wow me. Vodka sauce pasta was delicious. Prob my fav out of the two. We also got the lemoncello French toasts - absolutely delicious. It was huge. Great for sharing. Tiramisu was also huge but the ratio was off and there was not enough lady fingers. read more
