We came hungry and definitely ordered enough food to get a good feel for the menu. Everything tasted fresh and made with care, which is something we immediately noticed. The Surf & Turf Plate was our favorite. The combination of steak and shrimp was filling without feeling too heavy, and the Garlic Mashed Potatoes were so creamy. The Roasted Brussels Sprouts had great flavor and were a nice balance to the rest of the plate. The Tuscan Chicken Sandwich was another standout. The chicken was juicy, the flavors worked really well together, and the Sweet Potato Fries on the side were addicting. We also tried the Chicken Empanada and Mac and Cheese, both of which were comforting and satisfying. For drinks, the Raspberry Lychee Lemonade was refreshing and unique, and the Bushfire Red Wine Sangria was a great choice if you're looking for something a little more relaxing with your meal. Don't skip dessert either, he chocolate cookie was warm, soft, and disappeared way too quickly. This feels like one of those places where you can find something for everyone. I didn't realize until I came to write this review that Bushfire Kitchen is a small chain of restaurants. I came with a friend to this Brea location for lunch on a weekday afternoon. It's fast casual dining where you order at the counter, you're given a number, and your food is brought to your table. The folks working here were very pleasant and provided great customer service. I ordered the Millionaire's BLT Sandwich along with a blueberry cream empanada and a housemade lemonade. The empanada was handed to me on a plate immediately after paying and I was given a cup to pour my own lemonade from the nearby dispenser. The interior has quite a few seats and more outside on a covered patio. We decided to sit on the patio and the food was brought to our table several minutes later. While we waited, I tried my blueberry cream empanada, made with some sort of blueberry filling mixed with cream cheese. It was a bit unusual but I liked it. My friend shared a bite of the veggie empanada (spinach, roasted corn, bell peppers, potato, cilantro, onions and pepper-jack cheese; served with a housemade chimichurri sauce). I thought this was okay, made tastier with the uniquely thick chimmichurri sauce. My Millionaire's BLT was pretty good, although the bacon was a bit too spicy for me and my low-tolerance for heat. This sandwich was served in ciabatta bread with sweet and spicy millionaire's bacon, lettuce, tomato and housemade mayo. Although I'd never had it before, I knew Millionaire bacon would be spicy but didn't think it would make my eyes water incessantly throughout the meal. The lemonade was very good. They also have a variety of Stubborn soda options. This was a decent choice for lunch but I'd definitely order a different, less spicy menu item next time. read more

A friend and I came here not at all expecting what we got, it's customizable and the staff are friendly, informative and helpful, so that was nice and the empanadas just calling you alongside the cookie display case. Unfortunately they didn't have any coffee.. which I don't know why I assumed they'd have it given the cookies. There's options for meat eaters and vegans alike with good roasted broccoli/cauliflower and fine rice. The sauce is also fine just fine. 3.5 STARS I was looking forward to giving Bushfire Kitchen a try especially because they market themselves as serving "high-quality, fresh and locally sourced fruit and vegetables" so we decided to order delivery via UberEats. Unfortunately, for $60 total, the portion size felt pretty small. I'm not sure if it's because we got delivery, or if the portion size would have been different had we ordered in-restaurant). We got the Grilled Chicken Bowl, Salmon Bowl, and a Quinoa and Power Greens Salad. The meat of the Chicken Bowl and Salmon Bowl were a bit too salty for me personally, but overall was decent and I wouldn't mind eating it again. I did enjoy the Butternut Squash of the Salmon Bowl! What was most disappointing was the Salad. The portion size was incredibly small and I was bummed to find it was topped with nothing but canned ingredients - mandarin orange segments you get from a can, canned garbanzo beans and canned beets on top a thin layer of greens, with a light sprinkle of quinoa and avocado slices that also were turning color. I was hoping for ingredients that would be fresh and not from a can so definitely felt let down. I can't speak to the service as we didn't dine in, but in passing by the restaurant multiple times, parking always looked ample and plentiful. I really wanted to like Bushfire Kitchen and am always excited to support and try new businesses in the area, but I'm not sure I'll find myself back anytime soon. read more

It's definitely a healthier style restaurant and I really liked it. Empanadas (beef & chicken): Both were really good, i'd definitely come back for these! I've been seeing rave reviews for Bushfire so I decided to check them out. Orders are placed at the counter and delivered to your table when they're ready. The staff is professional and efficient but not particularly welcoming. There is ample inside seating which is nicely arranged. There's also a very nice covered patio for outside seating. The food smells amazing as you walk into the restaurant! They offer a nice selection of bowls, salads, sandwiches, and sides. They also have a couple of small cases on the counter loaded with empanadas and desserts. Today I ordered the chicken empanada, their seasonal guava cream empanada, and a side of sweet potato fries. I've been on an empanada binge lately and I was particularly excited to try theirs. The chicken empanada was decent, but nothing really stood out about it. The guava cream one was delicious! I'd definitely get this one again! The sweet potato fries came with a peri peri mayo dipping sauce, which was a nice change from typical sauces. The miso salmon crunch bowl was so colorful and has housemade miso glaze on high-protein, flaky salmon, all on a bed of furikake garlic fluffy rice. But let's talk about the Tokyo glaze BBQ chicken sandwich. She's panko-crusted, not deep-fried, juicy, AND comes with cheesy umami parmesan-dusted fries. I went with the peri peri chicken, which is a red pepper based sauce, with a lemony taste and a spicy kick over a roasted chicken breast. So good! My wife got the BBQ chicken and it was just a flavorful. A special shout out to their sweet potato fries that were perfectly seasoned with a nice crunch. Other places will have soggy fries but they were amazing here. The other side options are pretty healthy, as I got roasted butternut squash and a home style mac and cheese. This place definitely has home style healthy meals. We discovered it from IG reels and decided to give it a try for dinner. We both got bowls. I opted for a healthier version with veggies as a base and my boyfriend got jasmine rice. Both of us got chicken, me coconut Thai and him teriyaki. Chicken was both juicy and flavorful. I think the real highlight of the meals were the toppings. I got butternut squash and he got balsamic glazed Brussels sprouts. Omg both were so delicious. My Godmother and I decided to meet halfway in Brea for lunch today. I found this restaurant. We liked the menu & ambience. The food was fantastic, very clean, welcoming staff, and a nice patio. I've been wondering when they were going to replace Rubio's once they closed for good. Took a while but I was glad that Bushfire Kitchen finally opened up. The restaurants in this strip mall area are all very subpar so I had little to no expectations for this spot. Here's what I have tried: **American Burger: It's a solid traditional burger with bacon. I've had a bite of it cooked medium both times and they have been spot on. (5/5) **En Fuego Burger: I almost always order medium rare for my burgers and that's exactly what I did for both visits. The burger itself is very tasty but disappointed with the spice. I've read several reviews stating that this burger has a nice kick to it but sadly, it doesn't. However, the housemade jalapeño aioli is quite good. I'm generally not a fan of bacon in my burgers but it works well here. (4/5) **Cage-Free Chicken Empanada: Eh, just pass on the empanadas. There isn't much filling and it's definitely not worth the price tag listed. (1/5) **Roasted Brussel Sprouts: I love that you can get a variety of items as a side and not just fries. The brussels sprouts here are delicious and have the perfect balance of flavor. (5/5) I've been here twice during their first few months of being open to test out the waters and I can't wait to be back. The prices are honestly very fair for a casual sit down burger spot with lots of customizable options. The portions are very filling. They have several drink options available including their apple maple refresher, lemonade, iced tea, and Stubborn soda products. As much as I enjoy their food, their overall customer service is quite poor. During my first visit, I could hear the girls working at the front gossiping and not paying attention to the customers. I had gone back to the counter to purchase a fountain drink but I could not get their attention even though they were standing right there. My second time there, when I arrived in line, nobody said a word. When I was leaving the restaurant, I turned around and said thank you but none of the ladies said anything or even made eye contact. You should consider retraining your employees because it doesn't look good from the customer's perspective. I would normally give 3-stars for an experience like this but everything else is good so that's the reason why I'm giving it 4-stars. This spot can easily be bumped up to a 5-star experience if the customer service was spot on. read more

I was shopping at the Brea Mall with my mom, and we were looking for a new spot to try for dinner. This popped up on a google search for me, and after a quick look at their menu, we decided to give it a try. We stopped by on a Saturday night, and they were pretty busy. The space itself isn't the largest, but it's bright, clean, and has plenty of seating. After ordering at the register, we took a seat and within 10 minutes, food was at the table. Starting with the positives, the service I received was great! For a fast casual experience, we were checked in on multiple times asking how the food turned out, and if there was anything we needed. If I needed anything, they were pretty good about getting it, even when things were a bit hectic for them. The menu also has many healthier options, which is refreshing when most spots in that area are on the heavier side. All of the food we ordered was very fresh, but a lot of it was lacking flavor. My mom's tri-tip plate had a great Chimichurri sauce, but the vegetable side was under seasoned, and the rice (choice of brown or Jasmine) didn't add much either. My Tuscan Chicken Sandwich was good, but I found myself asking for hot sauce and ranch to make it more interesting. On top of that, the ranch I asked for on the side, tasted more like mayo, which was a bit off-putting. I understand this spot is trying to be on the lighter side, but even Urban Plates had similar dishes with more flavor. I love the freshness of the food for this price point, but I think some of the offerings could be tweaked a bit. I still think this spot is a great option, especially if you're growing tired with most of the chains around the area, and want a healthier option when eating out. I'm absolutely willing to try more of their menu in the future, but this won't be my first choice. read more

Was here on a friend's and family event. This was a former rubios restaurant that sits across from a Sprouts. Size wise it's not very big but works just fine for a Bushfire footprint it's an L shaped interior with two TVs. Food is always good here. It's fast casual with the real plates and forks. We always get their burgers and sandwiches. We do feel those hits the spot better here along with their sweet potato fries. (The gaucho steak and their most popular en furgo burger has the best flavors) We also tried the pumpkin hand pie and a cookie but those were just okay since I'm a snob for baked goods. I've been to this place twice now and generally like it. I haven't found any place that serves peri peri chicken, which is why I wanted to come here. I found it tasty and the portions generous. Pairing it with fries and the Korean is the move in my opinion. Staff is patient, and the dining area is clean. I can't give this place 5 stars, though, since each time I've come, my partner has ordered something with beef, and the texture is always super chewy (surf and turf plate and grass-fed tri-tip bowl). The menu didn't appear too overwhelming with too many choices so it was easy to read and make a decision. The sweet potato fries were crispy and perfectly salted. Came here to support my local school. Welcome to Brea. I thought the food here was okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't standout either. It reminds me of cafeteria or hotel food. Not a school cafeteria but like at a hospital. The food doesn't taste bad and it will be satisfying for a majority of folks who eat it. You can't go wrong with the food here.
