I waited 40 minutes for my food, and I had ordered a burger which you would think would not be hard to make. For some reason the refinery spend their 40 minutes cooking the hell out of my burger, and they could even put the tooth pick in the middle of my burger, like is it that hard to stab my burger in the middle. I honestly don't know how The Refinery inside the Hilton in Brea manages to stay open. This was easily one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. First off, the place looks nice when you walk in, but that's where the positives end. The service was painfully slow -- not the "busy restaurant" kind of slow, but the "did anyone remember we're here?" kind. We waited forever just to get water, and it somehow took even longer for the food. Then the food actually showed up... and wow. Bland, overpriced, and somehow still cold. It tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp since last week. For a restaurant attached to a Hilton, I expected at least basic quality, but this felt like cafeteria food with steakhouse prices. To make things worse, the staff acted like helping customers was a huge inconvenience. No check-ins, no refills, no effort. Just vibes of "please eat and leave." Between the slow service, disappointing food, and ridiculous prices, this place feels like a tourist trap hiding in a hotel lobby. Save your money and eat literally anywhere else in Brea. Even a gas station snack run would be a better experience. read more

The food was decent, I had the chicken fettuccini, it was a bit on the salty side but tasted really nice. Cheese cake was delicious, the calamari was ok. Service was great! The ambiance was wonderful, spacious and not too loud. I would go back to try other foods on the menu. read more

Normally, these restaurants inside of moderately priced hotels are not much good. The Refinery is an exception. The service is good as you would expect. The place was super busy, but they had enough staff who worked hard to accommodate everybody. Lots of complementary snacks that are self-serve next to the bar. I had the flatbread pizza which was made with real stretched pizza dough, not some pre-cooked piece of bread. It was the best flatbread pizza I have ever had in my life. This was more than I was expecting. The host/server Paul was awesome! Great personality and great attentiveness to the tables. I got a well vodka and it was rough. I'm not sure the brand, but it was not great. The shrimp tacos were another story... they were fantastic! The shrimp was lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. The slaw was fresh and crisp and the sauce was smooth and flavorful! I will come back just for those! The calamari was good to, but I felt it could have used a little more seasoning. Came here for the first time, and everyone was so nice. My waiter saw that I had a jacket and brought a small coat stand for my table. They have great customer service. The food was amazing. I recommend the prosciutto pizza. It has a romantic feel with dim lighting and the outdoor area in the back has beautiful green foliage. This restaurant is not closed. It is fully open. Lovely restaurant located inside the Embassy Suites. My husband and I recently enjoyed a wonderful dinner. We shared the cobb and caesar salads. We also shared a Flatbread pizza and some bar bite happy hour pretzel bites. Everything was delicious. We had wine and some happy hour drinks. Staff was friendly and also quite funny. We stumbled upon this gem in the last six months, and it's quickly become our weekly spot because of the caliber of service we receive. And I say that as someone who has spent roughly 20 years in the industry; I'm not the easiest to impress. Paul has very quickly become like a family member, well, one you actually like and look forward to seeing. Kim and Tonia are also always fantastic and a pleasure as well, and make great drinks to boot! Customers become regulars because everyone likes to feel special, and that's how Paul, Kim & Tonia make us feel. Our table is always waiting for us, and our drinks are delivered as soon as they see us walk in. What really got me to write this review, however, is Paul. They don't make servers like Paul anymore. He's a true professional and is so good with people. He's attentive, personable, and has an awesome sense of humor! My other half's mother passed away a couple of weeks ago. I got ahold of Paul to let him know we wouldn't be in so they didn't set up our table unnecessarily, and so he didn't worry (because that's the caring kind of person that Paul is). When we returned last week, there was a sympathy card on our table. While the card itself was thoughtful on its own, the handwritten message inside was even more thoughtful and appreciated. Like I said, they don't make them like Paul anymore, and The Refinery is very lucky to have him. Almost as lucky as we were to find him! This bar is inside of Embassy hotel. We stayed for a few days. Tonya was very helpful during our stay. She always made sure our drinks were filled and excellent service. Even my son loves It here. They have excellent food as well. My son loves all of their food that they offered. He wants us to come back and live here hahah. We order wine and beer. Yah, I love the Jalepeno Burger plate, and the Refinery Cobb Salad which is Fire. We stopped here few weeks ago to get out grub on a, and sspot some what be considered street food.
