    Pre-peeled Shrimps in mild sauce
    Jagruti L.

Casual Cajun dining spot in Brea. Ordered: Mild All Hooked Up (All 3 Sauces Combined) Pre-peeled shrimp. This is our first time selecting shrimps without us peeling off the shells. I needed my dish to be little Spicy, so I requested spicy sauce on the side. Shrimp Garlic noodles were kind of bland and needed extra garlic flavor. 2 steamed rice to eat with the sauce. Nice ambiance. They have dining tables inside and outside. The service was great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall, it was good food.

Pineapple alcohol drink and peach palmer

Wife and I came here Friday night around 6 pm and the parking was easy to get. Walked into restaurant because I saw on yelp they had lobster rolls but they didn't sell any lobster rolls. The place was not as busy and didn't have to wait long for a table. It was nice and clean and pretty quiet for a Friday night. We ordered the pineapple alcoholic drink (the wife) and I got an awesome peach palmer 10/10. For appetizer I got fried calamari but it was pretty chewy 7/10. I like chewy texture but it seemed over cooked. The raw oysters which I don't eat but wife loves she said is a 10/10. The entrees we got shrimp and grits 9/10 and spicy pastalaya (jambalaya with spaghetti noodles instead of rice and more creamy) 10/10.

I come here at least once a year and it's always a family favorite! I get the shrimp in the all hooked flavor and it's my favorite. I will say it's worth the extra cost to buy the peeled shrimp because the flavor tends to get lost if you buy the unpeeled and peel it off yourself. The lychee lemonade was great but ask for light ice!

Me and my boyfriend's go to seafood boil spot, been coming here for years and def a monthly date spot. Our server AJ, she was so sweet and friendly! Don't miss out on the crawfish, mussels, and shrimp, and if you still have room get the fried banana. Thank you for good food and great service!! ^-^

The restaurant has a clean, modern coastal vibe that immediately puts you in the mood for seafood. It's casual enough to feel comfortable but polished enough that it still feels like a night out. The staff greeted me right away, and the energy in the room was upbeat without being overwhelming. It's the kind of place where you can settle in and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. What stood out most to me was how fresh and well-seasoned everything tasted. On The Hook leans into bold flavors, and it pays off. The seafood is cooked with care--tender, flavorful, and never overdone. The sauces and seasonings are clearly a point of pride here. They're rich, layered, and complement the seafood instead of overpowering it. Every bite felt intentional, like the kitchen really knows how to balance spice, acidity, and richness. The service was friendly and attentive throughout my visit. My server checked in at the right moments, offered helpful suggestions, and made sure everything came out hot and timely. It's the kind of service that makes you feel taken care of without hovering.

First time trying the shrimp with king crab boil I thought it was good but pricey for just being average The service is super friendly The Cajun garlic butter mix was decent The shrimp was tender and tasted more fresh than the king crab I did see a nice happy hour menu so I will give it another try

Always a great place for dinner! Customer service is stellar and the food as great! We had calamari for starters. I had the grilled plate with garlic butter shrimp and rice and vegetable medley. Beignets were the perfect dessert! A must order! And the bubbly bottle of soapy lemon water at the end of the meal is my favorite.

I recently went here for lunch and had an ok time enjoying my meal. We got oysters to start which was yummy and shucked well. Our server greeted us nicely, i think we came at a good time because once it started getting packed I could see the servers getting a overwhelmed. I got two fish tacos and 1 shrimp taco along with a Caesar salad. It was okay i do wish the tortilla didn't crumble after one bite. My boyfriend got a white fish plate. I do like that the environment has indoor and outdoor seating. Overall this was a decent place to go to. I would definitely come back to try their seafood boil.

Review 76/365 challenge After almost living in the neighboring city, Yorba Linda for 10 years. Finally got the chance to try On the Hook, to go order to dine @ home for Memorial Day Holiday 05.26.25 I've heard great reviews for This Louisiana style seafood boil from my close girlfriend. That it's their local place to get their Cajun style seafood fix. We ordered it and her husband picked it up for dinner. It was a great turn around time. Ordered almost everything there was on the menu. ~ Live Crawfish was fresh and pretty big size in end of May. ~ Shrimp was really plump and big. ~ mussels were yummy too ~ Raw oysters were clean and yummy tasting. Didn't have that sea salt water taste or slimy. It was fresh tasting and good. Their sauce is pretty good. It's not salty or overly garlicky. Loved the taste of it. I'll have to come here and dine here. Once i do, I'll update on the review for the service & ambience of the restaurant. Located in the same plaza as Walmart & Home Depot. Next to Super Juicy Dumpling.

Second time coming in and got the garlic parmesan fries and garlic noodles with sausage. Those two are the must have here, don't come in without getting that. Ended with beignet and fried banana. Get the ice cream with dessert, they pair nicely. The service by Tristan is always great here! All the staff is always hard working and kind.

From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed like family and made to feel right at home. The customer service is always amazing! We've been coming here for so many years--I think since they first opened--and it never disappoints! On our last visit, we tried the clam chowder, and it was honestly the best we've ever had. The flavor was amazing, and I loved the little touch of corn kernels that added a bit of crunch. For dessert, we had the deep-fried plantains with vanilla ice cream, and wow... so delicious! It was my first time trying it, and I'm so glad I did. Also the Beignets with Vanilla Ice Cream. Both are so yummy!! Every single item on the menu is consistently amazing. Definitely one of our favorite spots!

Came here on Monday, and there were plenty of seats. It's a nice-looking restaurant with what I'd say is pretty affordable food. I got a few items to share, and here are my thoughts: Jambalaya - I had this with brown rice, and it was pretty good. It's nothing out of the ordinary, but I did enjoy it overall. A bit spicy and flavorful. Loved the sausages. (4/5) Po' Boy with Fries & Coleslaw (Catfish) - I got this with catfish and really wished the fish piece was larger. The fish flavor overall was tasty though. The po' boy was more bready than anything else and not super flavorful since there wasn't much sauce. I loved the fries, they tasted like McDonald's fries, but better. (3.5/5) Beignets - Not my favorite, to be honest. Too much powdered sugar, and the dough was just alright. (3.5/5) Fried Bananas with Ice Cream - This is a winner! Crispy and sweet--hands down the best thing I had. I would totally recommend this. (5/5) Overall, I liked the vibes, and the server was really good. At the end of our meal, we were given this interesting glass that shot out bubbles for us to wash our hands. Solid food and vibes!

No it doesn't. It's a first come first served basis.

    Do you have fresh crawfish?

Yes, We had fresh Oysters but everyone around us were eating fresh crab and crawfish.

    Are the sauces gluten free?

    Yes!

Can anyone tell me, how much is their crawfish for this year?

Only for happy hour and that's monday-Thursday 430pm-close

What's that bubble in the bottle, cleaning hands thing?

It's like hand soap or sanitizer thing. I think they add liquid nitrogen or something. It's really nice.

Are you guys still doing Happy Hour?

Yes. I think it's Monday through Thursday only.

Do they take reservations for large parties (10 people)?

Some places sit in the back of your mind for years…read more I first came to Macallan Public House more than a decade ago on a date and always intended to return. Life happened, years passed, and somehow I never made it back. Fast forward to today: I was driving my Tesla, jokingly asked Grok to take me somewhere for a beer, and it pointed me right back here. Walking in felt like revisiting a place that had been quietly waiting in the background of my story. The centerpiece is still the incredible bar. Shelves stacked floor to ceiling with whiskey bottles, glowing green tile behind the taps, warm lighting, and enough character that you can spend half your time simply looking around. It's the kind of room that feels both energetic and comfortable at the same time. I grabbed a seat at the bar, watched a soccer match on the TVs, and ordered an Old Fashioned. It arrived exactly the way I hoped it would: large clear ice cube, generous orange peel, balanced and smooth without trying too hard. Just a well-made classic cocktail. What stood out most was the atmosphere. These days I'm much more likely to be exploring hiking trails, photographing wildflowers, or driving mountain roads than spending time in bars. Twelve years ago, places like this were a much more regular part of my life. Coming back reminded me why I enjoyed them in the first place. Good conversation, a comfortable seat, a quality drink, and no rush to be anywhere else. The beer taps looked extensive, the whiskey selection seemed endless, and the entire place struck a balance between neighborhood pub and whiskey destination. Funny how a random AI navigation suggestion brought me back to a place I'd been meaning to revisit for over a decade. Glad it finally did. 5 stars.
