Passed by this place and decided to give it a try. What a unique German restaurant right in Brea. It instantly reminded me of the Hofbräuhaus in Vegas with its friendly and welcoming food hall. I'm not super familiar with German cuisine, but everything felt authentic and traditional. I ordered their popular Ruben sandwich, served hot with corned beef, sauerkraut, and a Russian dressing on rye bread. It was delicious and packed with meat and flavor. The fries that came along with it were so crispy and tasty. I also tried the breaded veal cutlet, which is a German specialty. Both dishes were very good and hearty. They also have a great beer selection on draft. I went with the Spaten Pilsner, which paired perfectly with the meal. I love that each of their beers is served in its own branded glass. Stumbled across this place while killing some time waiting for a friend to get off work. It was late afternoon and so they weren't terribly busy, but were super friendly and accommodating. I said I would be just ordering a beer while waiting on my friend, and the bartender let me sample a couple before making my decision for a nice German beer. I decided to sit outside and enjoy the warm sunshine, and a server came out to check on me. My friend had texted a different place for dinner, so I visited the clean ladies room, paid my tab, and received a warm farewell and invitation to return for dinner another time. Finally tried this place that I had bookmarked for a while and wondering why I didn't come sooner. The food was delicious (my husband had the Wiener schnitzel and I had the Reuben) and reminded us of our trip to Munich. I was worried about the Reuben being greasy but it was far from that. Food was filling in all the right ways. Everyone is very friendly and makes you feel like you're apart of the family. Robbin was our server and she was the absolute sweetest but we also met Xavier the bar manager who makes you feel welcome. Best German restaurant in SoCal! Very friendly staff super talkative, very attentive, makes you feel like a regular. I like how the bartender told us about the upcoming events they are holding. They have a stein event and a New Year's Eve party. Bratwurst sandwich had the yummiest pickle in it. Very flavorful with a good casing and a bun. The strudel here is the best I've had very traditional. Served warm and very filling with fruits, cream, and a yummy sweet sauce. Highly recommend the rudeseimer coffee it's a good night cap. Great German restaurant with a great menu. Even some healthy choices if you must. We enjoyed lunch with a large group. Service met that challenge. We walked in with a party of 6 (they recommend calling ahead), but luckily they had space for us! Die Bierstube is tucked inside the Phoenix Club and has a fun, laid-back vibe--German decor everywhere, big TVs playing sports and horse racing, and plenty of seating near the bar. Food came out fast--within 15 minutes--and everything was TASTY. The sausage plates (bratwurst, smoked brat, polish, knackwurst) were solid, with the both of the brat/smoked brat and polish being my top picks. The breaded veal cutlet with sautéed veggies was also a standout. Also, shoutout to the bread and butter they serve with every meal--it was so TASTY. They've got a solid beer selection too, which paired great with the meal. Bathrooms were super clean (multiple stalls, no wait), and our waitress was super friendly and helpful with recs. This German food getaway was an experience in itself. The decor added to the entire experience. I got the smoked Bratwurst, hot Polish sausage, German potato salad and the Ruben sandwich. The Ruben sandwich was not memorable. The smoked Bratwurst was flavorful and had a nice snap. The Hot polish sausage had a good spicy flavor without being too over bearing. Food: Pretzel, Smoked Bratwurst, Bratwurst, Knackwurst, Strudel Honestly, everything was delicious, including the small roll that is served to you with your meal. We began with a pretzel that is only half salted, and served with beer cheese. The outside was perfectly brown and the inside was soft and chewy. The wife and I both ordered sausage plates, one with sauerkraut and the other with fries. The kraut was slightly sweet and slightly tangy, it paired nicely with the sausages and the mustard that is brought to the table. The smoked bratwurst was the star of the meal, followed by the regular bratwurst, and lastly the knackwurst. The knackwurst was good, and tasted similar to what we consider hot dogs. For dessert, there was no way we were going to pass up on an Apple Strudel. It is served with a vanilla sauce, which my wife mentioned that it tasted like melted vanilla ice cream and some whipped cream. It was a great way to finish off the meal. Restaurant: Service was wonderful, and everyone is super attentive. We asked for a certain sports game to be put on the TV nearest to us and they changed it to the game without any hesitation. Great food and place to hang out. It's welcoming and warm. You have to drive through a business center, and make a few turns to get there, so it's not hard to find but not easy to immediately spot. There's plenty of parking and wasn't too busy when we got there. Our server James was amazing, very patient and friendly. He told us about some cool future events, definitely looking forward to checking those out. There seems to be a lot of great culture here and you can't miss what a good time everyone is having. They have lots of drink options. For food we got the currywurst, Reuben with spatzle, and sausage plate with sauerkraut. The fries that come with the currywurst were really crunchy and fluffy inside. The Reuben was tasty, the bread was well toasted and it came with some mustard that really added to the flavors of everything. The Bierstube of the Brea German Phoenix Club is vast like a German Beer "Garden." I wouldn't describe it as cozy or romantic, but rather a fun place for .5l beer steins and German polka style live music. The food is good and portions a huge. "Good" is a nice rating considering my own home cooked food would be called "awesome." Anyway, we liked our Wienerschnitzel with Spätzle, and the Currywurst (a beloved street food from food trucks all over German cities, aka an abomination of a curry-ketchup sauce over cut up white sausage eaten with toothpicks along with a side of fries.) The Reuben sandwich was huge ( with Sauerkraut on Rye) and tasty, and (!) everything came with two choices of sides. We had the German potato salad which is more tart than the American or Korean versions, and the potato pancakes with apple sauce (another beloved food truck street food) which were clearly from scratch with hand grated potatoes as they should be. For dessert, warm Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce. Lots of beer selections, incl a 0.0 Radler. Plenty of free parking in lot. Guten Appetit! read more

I previously reviewed the bierstube when there was only an entry for the Phoenix Club. I'll update here. If you enjoyed the old location you'll be happy to know it's much the same in Brea. The beer offerings and food are pretty much unchanged. I think there is slightly more seating in this location. We've been here a few times for lunch and the service is always friendly and efficient. I love their big sloppy Ruben sandwich and my wife claims they make the best Cobb salad. We often get the curry wurst. You just don't find it many places. read more

Amazing sorts of beers and food. Grabbed the Jägerschnitzel which was amazing. The egg pasta gave it a good texture to it. German Cuban sandwich is my all time favorite. I do favor the breaded pork cutlet over the breaded veal. The pork cutlet is the size of a the plate which is amazing for the price. About 30 years ago I went to Phoenix #1. Then it relocated to Phoenix #2 near the Honda Center behind the car dealership. They were there 26yrs. Now they are in Brea so let's say Phoenix #3. There is a poetic story that can be found in that history. Well that's the story I was told visiting today. Our visit was long over due. The beer was soooo good on such a beautiful so cal day. Wifey and I loved the patio area. We ordered a pretzel which had plenty of salt. A little too much for me but real easy to brush off a bit. Wifey really enjoyed her chicken schnitzel. The fries are coated seasoned and pair well with beer. The sausage platter was ok. I had the smoked brat and spicy sausage. No regrets at all. The German potato salad is a must have as your side. We got a giant shank for Oktoberfest and it was the best thing I had ever eaten. It came with a dumpling, German potato salad, and tons of gravy. It was delicious pairing it with the sides and eating the seasoned fat. We also got the potato latkes which were cold and soggy. The bratwurst was delicious too along with the roll. I'd recommend getting it with sauerkraut and some potato salad. Ambiance was wild, tons of singing and dancing! Great parking, and located in the back of the Phoenix Club. I believe it's known as the Phoenix Club as well. Decor inside was like i walked into a little German bier hall. The restrooms were extremely clean and nice- always good to mention! This would be a great location for a group get together! Visited Die Bierstube for my birthday recently with a friend and was very impressed by the atmosphere, service, and food quality. I ordered the sausage plate with sauerkraut (smoked sausage was amazing, sauerkraut was perfectly mild), a beer flight (there are no bad choices), the Currywurst, and the apple strudel. Everything was delicious! I highly recommend the Currywurst and the apple strudel, I will be coming back for both! I appreciated the festive and welcoming German community vibe. We came here with the family to celebrate Oma & Opa's 50th wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. It was busy very quickly nearing 5pm due to the prime rib that's available Sundays. Everyone enjoyed their food and there was enough for all to have a taste. Schnitzels and the brats were great. Spaetzle was buttery and tasty, ghoulash was flavorful and salted perfectly which was great because it almost always is too salty at other places. Their rolls get an honorable mention-served hot, crispy and chewy so good. The jagerschnitzel was fantastic. Tried some of my sister-in-laws bacon and cheese spaetzle and would love to order that at breakfast with an egg on top . It was super hot out and so the chilly grapefruit radler hit the spot. Service was excellent even though it was hectic and busy. Everyone was warm and friendly. Dining room was a modest size and I hear there's a large private dining room down the hall so that's good to note for any future get togethers we may have. Our family had previously frequented Jagerhaus, formerly Gustav's in Anaheim for nearly 35 years so we were all heartbroken to not have family style German cooking that we could enjoy. We all went to Germany in 2022 so this brought us back and left a great impression. We're already making plans to see when we can all get together again and for breakfast this time ! We had our company yearly Oktoberfest Celebration on a Friday. They have a large private room that was perfect for 50 people. Our food was served buffet. And everyone was very happy with the offerings and flavor and quantity. Including desert. There was a lot of German Beer consumed. Everyone got what they wanted. I checked in with the lovely waitress and was amazed with this place. It's very clean and there's plenty of seating. They have a full on bar with many choices of alcohol. I have now been here two times recently, and just love the food and great attitude of the employees; both the waitresses and the bartenders. The food is also, really tasty. Place is very clean, including the restrooms. Once a month, they have a 20 oz draft beer, $5 special (all day), so it's nice to visit on this day, to first enjoy a couple drinks, then eat their delicious food. I have had both the jägerschnitzel plate (pork cutlet with mushrooms) and their sausage/bratwurst (1 or 2 of your choice) plate. Would recommend this gem-of-a-restaurant to everyone in the general area (we visit all the way from the Pomona/Ontario area). Can't wait for our next visit. I called in my order and I was right up against or maybe even past the cutoff for the kitchen closing, but they accommodated me anyways and knocked it out of the park.
