My friend and I came here for Valentine's Day dinner, and we were really hoping to love the experience but unfortunately several aspects fell below our expectations. When we arrived for our 6:00 PM reservation, the hostess let us know it would be about a 10-minute wait and while we understand that holidays can be busy, we had made a reservation specifically to avoid waiting. Shortly after, we and a few other parties were asked to sit at the bar with no additional context as to why we were waiting. We were offered complimentary champagne, which was a thoughtful gesture and definitely appreciated, but we were on a tight schedule as we were set to catch a movie afterward so we just wanted to be sat. Once we were finally seated, we overheard that someone had vomited and our table happened to be right next to that area, which was quite off-putting. During service, my friend and I also noticed the staff seemed very overwhelmed--servers were discussing table confusion and food routing confusion within earshot of our table, which made the experience feel a bit disorganized. This became especially apparent as we waited quite some time between getting our appetizer and our starter, which ended up reaching our table at the same time as our main course. For dessert, we ordered the butter cake, but the texture and flavor was more like cornbread so we put it off to the side. While we were waiting for our check, our server briefly placed another dessert at our table before realizing it belonged elsewhere and taking it away, which just added to the overall sense of disorganization. My friend and I truly don't mind spending $200+ for a great dining experience, but our total came to about $250 and, unfortunately, the food and service really didn't meet our expectations to the point where we ended up discarding most of our meal. For context, I've also visited the Tempo Cantina location across from the Brea Mall, and my friend has been to Tempo Geisha once previously. We decided to give it another try because the atmosphere and location are fantastic and very convenient for us. However, we were ultimately disappointed this time as well. I share this feedback in hopes it's helpful, not to bring the restaurant down. We genuinely love the concept and energy of the restaurant and hope to see improvements in service flow, communication, and food consistency in the future because we really would love to come back and have a great experience! read more

I visited tempo geisha a few months back with my girlfriend and this place is just missing the mark. The country music did not fit the geisha theme and neither did the cowboy hats that the staff wore. Our food order came out wrong and nothing really tasted good. I had high hopes but it's not happening. The patio looks so cool but I never see anyone out there when I drive by. I wish they would host like "ladies brunch" with a deejay when the weather warms up for spring or summer. They have lots of room for improvement. Plenty of parking in the structure behind the restaurant. Place is huge, with plenty of seating. They had happy hour, which was great. We ordered a bit to share. It's a fusion concept with a variety of different dishes. Everything was really good, but by far the star of the show was the octopus. I stopped by Tempo Geisha the other day and decided to try their seafood and meat molcajete. The flavor was great, the mix of meats and seafood came out sizzling hot and full of that smoky, rich taste you want from a good molcajete. The portion of the main dish itself was generous, but I was surprised they only gave four small corn tortillas with such a big bowl. Same goes for the rice and beans, both were good, just served in really small portions. What threw me off a bit was the little details. The soda came in what felt like a kid-sized glass, and I really missed having chips and salsa at the start of the meal. Most Mexican spots I've been to, like Cha Cha's down the street automatically bring them out, which adds a nice welcoming touch. Tempo Geisha has solid food and good flavors, but with a few small tweaks to their portions and extras, it could easily go from good to great. Manager was also assisting as our waiter and taking our orders. Service was great and the staff had great attitudes. Friendly place and i would definitely come again. The happy hour being our first time trying it, and the last experience coming for dinner with my kids and wife reaffirmed the food is good and service was good. The taco shells that are supposed to be crunchy, were soggy. The tacos were served in a plate with sauce in the bottom of the bowl. Apparently, the tacos had sat there int he sauce too long. Maybe that was ready first and they had it sitting for the rest of the food to come out. I'm not too sure? I just know something went wrong... I ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp instead of chicken. Extra charge for the shrimp by the way. The Caesar salad dressing tasted off to me. It was overly fishy tasting, like anchovies maybe? They topped the salad with lots of cheese. That's fine. The dressing was just off though. It didn't taste like Caesar salad dressing. I couldn't even eat it. Really gross. I enjoyed the Japanese old fashioned. We ordered the raw oysters which came with a ponzu sauce that was amazing. For the table, we shared the rib eye which was cooked perfectly. For sushi, we ordered the nigiri rainbow, ceviche roll and queen roll. The rolls were flavorful and the fish was fresh. My mom ordered the clams appetizer and was drinking the broth. Such a big disappointment. We were really excited to try tempo geisha as it was the new restaurant with a neat concept. Everything was a complete failure The design of the place is absolutely beautiful! It is decorated really nice and very tasteful. Service was really poor. Our waiter was the bartender and our server. He didn't know the menu. We got the pan roast, dirty fries and pineapple dish. We specially said we don't want the octopus in pan roast but the other seafood items are fine and he later brings out the chicken and sausage. My husband repeated multiple times but he stilll got it wrong. He even showed us the tablet while we were paying that the pan roast was with chicken. What? We asked for seafood version. He just didn't get it. Either way the pan roast didn't taste good. Lacked proper flavor. The dirty fries were okay. They needed more acidity. The grilled pineapple was basically a bunch of cheese with barely any flavor. Wouldn't recommend any of it. I got strawberry margarita and my husband got the mule. Both which barely had any alcohol because I didn't taste any. Mine tasted like strawberry juice. Complete disappointment. Overall we were really disappointed and to top it off we went there for my birthday. I'd say skip it and if ton really want traditional Mexican cuisine and better alcohol go the other tempo in Brea otherwise skip it. It's not worth it. The bone marrow was too gamey, and the seafood was extremely fishy in all of our dishes. Cocktails we ordered: lychee martini 6/5 espresso martini 5/5 The drinks are the real mvps here, so we had to go with two rounds. The decor is a close second. I really wanted to love it here, but the food fell well below my expectations. I don't mind dropping bags on a quality meal, but I definitely did not get that. My bill was approximately $200 for the items mentioned, including tip. I may come back during hh for drinks and small bites, but I definitely won't be ordering any seafood. This is Mr. Tempo's newest restaurant and bar. It took over former Taps space so this place is massive. The layout and seatings are still the same. The new decorations are very pretty. We came in for a Saturday lunch, menu is similar to original Tempo. They focus on seafood and Asian fusion which I liked a lot. We have tried citrus sushi roll, whole branzino, steak tacos and ribeye wrapped asparagus. Everything was delicious except the sushi roll. The rice was really dry and hard. Somehow I don't think it was sushi rice at all. The service was great, hubby liked his Japanese whiskey Paloma. The Macallan 12 came with too much ice. It looks like iced whiskey! Only 5 tables were seated while around 25 tables were vacant, so I expected much better attention and timing. They offered me the tacos free of charge, which I appreciate, but at that point I no longer trusted the situation. When the tacos were delivered, I didn't feel comfortable eating them, so I didn't touch the plate. Service felt disorganized and inattentive, especially for a nearly empty restaurant. The renovation looks great -- the vibe is lively and fun (maybe too lively if you've got little kids), but overall a good time. Odd combo, I know, but honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was better than expected. Their logo is a mermaid? It just didn't seem like it fit the vibe or theme there. I know Vaqueros exist but again, their outfits seemed out of place. I got there at 4:30pm on Tuesday. It was empty! I know people work. Happy hour is until 6 pm. The server recommended a few items. We got the queen roll (sushi roll) and the wonton tacos from the regular menu. The happy hour menu was $10 per item and we got a lemon drop, michelada, and fries from the happy hour menu. The food was just okay or decent. No wow factor. Price point was not worth it whatsoever! Also, it felt like our server rushed us to pay and leave because she was going on her break. I don't recommend this place. We have been waiting for this place to open since we found out it would be Tempo. We have been to the one by Brea Mall and were wondering how this one would be since the Taps building was very nice. We were excited to know it would be seafood as we don't have many seafood places (non boil) around here. We found out today was day 3 of being officially open and noticed just by driving by and seeing people coming in/out. They are located in the heart of downtown Brea with plenty of parking nearby with the structures. This is a huge place compared to the previous one and they have done a great job with the decoration and the murals. The only thing we think was a bit off, was the waitresses uniforms as they seemed a bit out of place for the area and potential clientele, but they were really friendly and helpful. We made a reservation on open table just in case we needed it, but it wasn't too busy on Sunday around 4pm. At first they sat us indoors on a small table, but we requested to be moved since the AC wasn't on and it was hot. We requested to be seated outside which they asked us to wait a couple of mins while they cleaned the table. The staff were very nice and accommodating about it and the outside seating was nice and refreshing. We ordered a mango and a cucumber margaritas that were delicious and refreshing for a hot day like today. We decided to try the octopus tacos and the seafood tower 1. The tacos were delicious! The sauce they came with was just hot enough and although the tacos didn't need it, it was a nice addition. The seafood tower came and even though it is not an actual tower, it was a nice presentation. It would be nicer if you had something under it to make it easier to turn it for sharing. The agua chile was good, not spicy, but shrimp were super tender and fresh. The oysters were in the smaller size but given everything you get, they were good. The ceviche was my bfs favorite part of the tower. Overall, we ere pleasantly surprised of what they have done and the food. This is close to home and we are certain we will be back. This new Asian Mexican fusion restaurant opened up where Taps used to be in downtown Brea. I really wanted to like it, but none of us really cared for the main entrees that we got. The flavor of the mole, the octopus, the sauces, and even the rice was lacking. They did make some good tacos though, and their flour tortillas tasted homemade. Prices are very high and I was so surprised to note majority of "traditional plates" do NOT include rice/beans, we ordered a side of rice for an additional $6 on an already pricey meal. Carne asada plate at $35 did not fair much better. Meat had too much fatty trim, difficult to chew, beans did come with this meal, however, they were bland. I want my meal to come out hot and it was warm at best. Overall the food lacked flavor and zest! No up beat music like I hoped for and it's the holidays. Place should be packed. Party room was very tight. Hard to even get up and mingle around. Servers and staff even had a hard time walking thru the only aisle way. Drinks like usual for a party, always slow. How did they taste? Espresso martini wasn't exact to my liking. Literally just kahlua and bitterness of espresso. Buffet, oook it was whatever. Chicken enchiladas were dry. Sauce couldn't save it. The chicharrones, omg they were dry and hard like a brick. Had to complain coz u can break a tooth with it. Chicken fajitas were at least edible. I had two servings of that. The wait staff, idk they seemed overwhelmed when we only had maybe 50 guests. The drinks were hit/miss and the geisha margarita was not great it felt like more juice and thick in terms of a puree or whatever was in the drink. I don't think it should be advertised as their popular or best drink in my opinion. The lychee martini was really good and a cucumber virgin drink was super refreshing. The food was ok - feel like it was small portions for the pricing and lacked flavor. They should definitely use corn tortillas vs flour tortillas. I understand it's a fusion but the sushi was missing soy sauce, ginger, wasabi until we asked for it ourselves. The flavors for sure need some more work. Our waiter was not very attentive -- we weren't brought water, waited quite a while for a butter knife (and were given a cutting knife instead), and he didn't check on us until the very end of the meal. An automatic 18% gratuity was added, which felt disappointing given the level of service. My husband is a generous tipper, but we didn't feel much effort was made. We had been waiting for this spot to open since we heard it was connected to the other Tempo near Brea Mall. I'm pretty sure it is, but this one leans way more into sushi and seafood.
