I stopped by on a Sunday and, before I could even cross the street, a staff member came outside and told us we could not park in their lot and needed to move from the new parking area. I completely understand that the parking spaces are reserved for their customers and respect their policies. What was disappointing was the way the interaction was handled. The employee's tone came across as rude and unwelcoming, which immediately left a negative impression. There were several open parking spaces at the time, so being approached in that manner felt unnecessary and off-putting. I had actually been looking forward to trying the food, but after that experience, I decided not to. Our family looks forward to going to Tlaquepaque whenever we are in town. We have been going there for years now! The food is delicious! I get a veggie fajita taco salad with whole beans and add guacamole. The veggies are cooked perfectly! A great char and just the right amount of crunch. Other family members enjoy the tacos, enchiladas, chile relleno, and albondigas soup. The service is fast and friendly. The owner Rosalina came over and talked to us and she is a total sweetheart. We feel so comfortable and at home there, really cared for, which is an awesome experience at a restaurant. The ambiance is beautiful, great artwork and decorations. This spot is one of my favorites, remind me of a restaurant I used to go to Rosarito Mexico. It can be a great place for a date or to bring your family. I've been here a couple of times over the past couple of months and it's been outstanding each time. The service is kind, attentive and quick. I've never had to wait for a table but it would be worth the wait. I've had the carnitas, they are a huge portion, and are flavorful, and a mix of tender and well done, so good! I've also had the birria tacos and they're amazing, also a large portion. Their mojo de ajo shrimp also a good choice...oh and the chips are amazing so don't get full before your meal comes! read more

First time visit with friends who know the owner. Everyone was so friendly upon arrival and the service was quick. We came for the buffet and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is colorful and well decorated with Mexican art. There was also a great mariachi band playing. All the food was delicious and I couldn't eat everything. As a Mexican, this was probably the most overpriced places I've ever eaten Mexican food. The meats are dry, everything else is bland. There aren't many options. You get paper cups for their watery agua Frescas. My sister said the posole was tasteless, missing something, not spicy. There's nothing special or tasty about the food. Not worth $180 for 4 people. For that price I can buy groceries and make better Mexican food at home. Hate to give a bad review, but I hope it helps them better their food. read more

Although my surf and turf plate was delicious, there were a few restaurant issues that need to be addressed. Having a bucket to collect condensate water on the ceiling rafters is not safe. The bucket overflowed and was dripping near my seat. Our waitress seemed to have issues with refilling drinks. When asked since our glasses were empty, she threw some attitude back at my coworkers for politely asking since a significant amount of time elapsed. Came here with a large party. Chips and salsa was delicious! The guacamole was $10! But I read on Yelp that it was free....guess that's not true. But we didn't opt for the guac. There was only ONE server for the entire restaurant. The hostess helped refill chips and water. I ordered a strawberry blended margarita which was really good and refreshing! But the food took a while to come out which is frustrating when you're hungry. After waiting patiently, the food was just ok.... I ordered the Baja fish tacos, which was just ok. The fish is fried and it wasn't overcooked, but it didn't really have any taste. It came with a cabbage/tomato type slaw which I thought needed more of their chipotle mayo dressing. The "slaw" was on the dry side. The beans and rice was just ok too. The rice was super dry like some other places. The beans had some flavor, but nothing to be impressed by. We brought family that was visiting from out of town and they agreed and weren't impressed....it was just oookkkk. Sadly, we probably won't be returning. read more

I was here with my family last Sunday 7/27/25 to celebrate my sister in law's 25th birthday. This place is her favorite Mexican restaurant. I've been here once before for my birthday last December. The food and service is good. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and sat for our party of five. Our server came over promptly after taking care of guests at a nearby table. He took our drink ours while we went over the menu. Another young gentleman was busy directing staff and checking on existing customers. I assume was the manager or owner. He made sure I got my lemonade when my server forgot it. As for food my step dad ordered the chile relleno, cheese enchilada and taco plate, my mom got the ribeye asado tacos, my brother decided on the Rib eye steak while my sister in law and I got the Surf and Turf plate. My step dad had issues with his meal. There was still a good amount of seeds in his chile relleno which made it unbearable to eat and his cheese enchilada was mush. Mom enjoyed her tacos and my brother enjoyed his ribeye steak. Both his wife and I loved the Surf and Turf which consisted of skirt steak, grilled shrimp and a stuffed pepper. Overall everyone enjoyed the food except my step dad. At Least the manager/owner and our served checked up on us. I had the ribeye steak the first time here. And honestly I think they season and cook their steaks here well. I look forward to returning and recommend this place to others. read more

Initially went to another place up the street to have lunch but there was a 15 minute wait. I had heard of this place so we walked to the corner to try it out. We walked in and were greeted by the owner, I believe. A very sweet woman who led us to our table and immediately took our drink order. A server arrived shortly thereafter with our drink order. So far so good. I thought the food was really good. I had a traditional combo plate of a hard shelled chicken taco, a cheese enchilada, and rice and beans. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of my plate, including the rice, which I normally don't enjoy at other places. My girlfriend's daughter had the Quesabirria Tacos and absolutely loved them. Tlaquepaque is located on the corner of Bradford and Santa Fe in Old Town Placentia. There's limited street parking, but they do have a private parking lot directly across the street. As soon as step inside you know you're in for a treat. From the terracotta-tiled floors to the Mexican themed wall decor AND the prompt, warm greeting from the staff, it's like you just stopped by a friend's house for some good eats and a nice visit. With lots of tempting choices on the menu, we ordered the combo plate ( chile relleno, cheese enchilada, and crispy beef taco) and the enchiladas suizas. My combo plate was excellent! The chile relleno came on its own plate, which was perfect because the enchilada and the taco were very filling. The enchilada was perfectly filled and the sauce was nicely seasoned. The taco shell was nice and crispy, the beef was moist, and the lettuce was crisp and refreshing. I took the chile relleno to go, and it was also delicious~the cheese was creamy and has a beautiful pull. My friend's plate had a nice presentation and she really enjoyed it. I can't finish the review without mentioning the chips and salsa. Nothing is more disappointing than sub-par chips and salsa. This is not the case here at Tlaquepaque. The chips are light and crispy and the salsa has just the right amount of heat. Definitely one of my top 2 favorite Mexican restaurants! read more

The restaurant is cute in an adorable business corridor. We went to listen to mariachi for my mom's bday. They had an all girl mariachi, they were amazing. The waiters were nice and attentive. The food was mediocre. It was one of the saddest looking buffets I've seen and the only buffet I've ever been to where you can't serve yourself. The "dessert" area had Oreo cookies as an option. The buffet price was $40 and if you didn't eat, like my mom, the birthday girl, you still got charged. I've been to $40 buffets near the beach with amazing food, actual desserts and live music. I quickly learned the owner was the issue. She was micromanaging her workers, and purposely being sneaky by not providing menus or prices anywhere. When we tried to ask her about child prices she dismissed us and went to go ask a waiter for kid prices, which was weird she didn't know her own prices. We ended up paying almost $200 for two small bowls of pozole, a plate of rice/beans/potatoes/chicken strips, fruit, jello, bad fruit punch, sprite and cheap mimosas with NO orange juice which was an extra cost. This is really sad bc I really support local businesses, but this is a rip off. I would have preferred to give my money directly to the mariachi and servers instead. read more
