Cozy spot with welcoming atmosphere. Came in to have a nice lunch with my mom and Godmother . There is a small parking area designated which was nice . Has a steady clientele for lunch . Service was very attentive and friendly. Chips and salsa complimentary, also went with the Guacamole. Salsas had a nice heat level . Went with the garlic shrimp fajitas ,juicy shrimp and veggies cut . Very enjoyable experience. I just discovered a new-to-me Placentia gem... after living here for 23 years AND growing up in Yorba Linda! How did I not know about this place?! We had lunch at Tlaquepaque Restaurant today, and it was SO good! When the chips first came out, I'll admit I looked at them and thought, "Hmm... I don't know about these." Then I tried one and immediately took it all back. They were AMAZING! I had the chile verde, which I had never tried before, and oh my goodness--the combination of flavors was delicious. Definitely something I would order again! And Geri, our server, was the sweetest! She was so friendly, attentive, and completely on top of everything, which always makes a great meal even better. Easily the best most authentic restraunt ive ever experienced in Placentia (and i've lived here nearly 8 years). The ambiance was perfect and the food was even better. My husband had the Asada plate, I had the tortilla soup, and our daughter (2yo) had a bean rice and cheese burrito. The staff was friendly and attentive, the environment was welcoming and home-y. What really stood out was the owner doing table touches, she didn't miss a table and her conversation was casual and endearing. Totally a place you need to add to your foodie bucket list. 10/10 WOULD recommend. Glad this spot is less than 10min away from home. Get there before 6 if you can because after that there is a consistent flow of customers, there is ample parking/we didn't have any issue finding a spot. My family and I will definitely be back. The service was outstanding, with a friendly and attentive staff that made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Simply the best Mexican food here in Placentia, California, and definitely the best tacos I've ever had. The flavors are amazing, everything tastes fresh, and you can tell they put a lot of care into their food. I also have to say, I've never tried tamales as good as yours--they're absolutely outstanding. I have lived in Placentia for 24 years and never tried Tlaquepaque until tonight and I'm sorry I waited so long. I had the combo plate of a crispy taco, enchilada and chili relleno with rice and beans. Everything was super tasty. I can't wait to eat my leftovers for lunch tomorrow! Satisfactory food but customer service was severely lacking. Maybe it was an off day but the guy helping us didn't seem to care to be there. He didn't really know what food was available and what wasn't - very bizarre. He should be very happy they got us on the "soda water" upsell though. That was a fun surprise . First time visit with friends who know the owner. Everyone was so friendly upon arrival and the service was quick. We came for the buffet and it did not disappoint. Although my surf and turf plate was delicious, there were a few restaurant issues that need to be addressed. Having a bucket to collect condensate water on the ceiling rafters is not safe. The bucket overflowed and was dripping near my seat. Our waitress seemed to have issues with refilling drinks. When asked since our glasses were empty, she threw some attitude back at my coworkers for politely asking since a significant amount of time elapsed. The service could definitely be improved, but it is enough of a deterrent to not want to come back. read more

Came here with a large party. Chips and salsa was delicious! The guacamole was $10! But I read on Yelp that it was free....guess that's not true. But we didn't opt for the guac. There was only ONE server for the entire restaurant. The hostess helped refill chips and water. I ordered a strawberry blended margarita which was really good and refreshing! But the food took a while to come out which is frustrating when you're hungry. After waiting patiently, the food was just ok.... I ordered the Baja fish tacos, which was just ok. The fish is fried and it wasn't overcooked, but it didn't really have any taste. It came with a cabbage/tomato type slaw which I thought needed more of their chipotle mayo dressing. The "slaw" was on the dry side. The beans and rice was just ok too. The rice was super dry like some other places. The beans had some flavor, but nothing to be impressed by. We brought family that was visiting from out of town and they agreed and weren't impressed....it was just oookkkk. Sadly, we probably won't be returning. read more

This place used to be great. We have been coming here for years and gradually started to see it decline. We decided to take a break from coming, about a year or two as the last experience was not good. Tonight we went back and was even more disappointed. Most staff was very friendly and the young waiter was good about keeping our glasses full. Our main waiter was an older man who was not very pleasant and seemed rushed. We ordered guacamole that came out warm, but tasted pretty good. We also ordered 2 house salads which came out warm instead of cold, with pieces of brown lettuce and couldn't eat it. Also they came out at the same time as our entree. WHY IS THIS A THING NOW AT RESTAURANTS?!?! Soups/salads should come first THEN the entree. For the entrees, we each ordered a ribeye, one medium well and one medium. They were TOUGH. The medium well came out medium and the medium came out barely rare. I hate to say this but we won't be back. There's been too much disappointment. read more

This spot is one of my favorites, remind me of a restaurant I used to go to Rosarito Mexico. It can be a great place for a date or to bring your family. I've been here a couple of times over the past couple of months and it's been outstanding each time. The service is kind, attentive and quick. I've never had to wait for a table but it would be worth the wait. I've had the carnitas, they are a huge portion, and are flavorful, and a mix of tender and well done, so good! I've also had the birria tacos and they're amazing, also a large portion. Their mojo de ajo shrimp also a good choice...oh and the chips are amazing so don't get full before your meal comes! read more

Had a girls Sunday brunch here and it was a great experience. The service was great and the there were many food options on the buffet menu. Chilaquiles, menudo, chorizo, chili verde, rice, beans, pan dulce...the list goes on and on. My only suggestion is that the food could be served a little hotter. The owner personally greeted every table. Very friendly staff. The champagne was delicious and the Sunday live music was AMAZING! This review is for the Sunday brunch. I gave it friendly 3 stars because the service was friendly and attentive. The place is also very authentic looking and the music was nice. As a Mexican, this was probably the most overpriced places I've ever eaten Mexican food. The meats are dry, everything else is bland. There aren't many options. You get paper cups for their watery agua Frescas. My sister said the posole was tasteless, missing something, not spicy. There's nothing special or tasty about the food. Not worth $180 for 4 people. For that price I can buy groceries and make better Mexican food at home. Hate to give a bad review, but I hope it helps them better their food. read more

The older lady and possibly son, or other family member are super kind and attentive. However, there is an older gentleman with glasses that always makes us feel that we are an inconvenience and bothering him. Yet here I am, a glutton for punishment because we keep coming back. Today, however, was the proverbial straw. Drops a hot plate in front of me and a bit on my phone. Usually a server will attempt to move something on the table to set plates down or ask you to move them. Well,, not this time! On top of that, the plate was scorching hot that I would have appreciated a heads up so when I went to move it off of my phone, I didn't burn my hand. We have always tipped graciously and have been polite to him and have never understood the chip on his shoulder. I couldn't overlook this. Not this time. The older lady that comes around the tables to greet and thank you for your business wasn't there today, or I would have definitely shared with her. I will be following up with a phone call because I could have been injured. I don't dare ask him for anything because again, he makes it a point to make you uncomfortable to even ask!!! I bring large groups of people here as well for client lunches. Consider this a loss of a customer. I know the older lady appreciates everyone who walks through the door, as does the younger gentleman. This is a fair review ans critique and should be a concern. read more

Our family looks forward to going to Tlaquepaque whenever we are in town. We have been going there for years now! The food is delicious! I get a veggie fajita taco salad with whole beans and add guacamole. The veggies are cooked perfectly! A great char and just the right amount of crunch. Other family members enjoy the tacos, enchiladas, chile relleno, and albondigas soup. The service is fast and friendly. The owner Rosalina came over and talked to us and she is a total sweetheart. I always order the MOLE DE LA CASA and without fail every time it is delicious. I love coming here with my dad or friends because everyone here is so inviting and happy. I was here with my family last Sunday 7/27/25 to celebrate my sister in law's 25th birthday. This place is her favorite Mexican restaurant. I've been here once before for my birthday last December. The food and service is good. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and sat for our party of five. Our server came over promptly after taking care of guests at a nearby table. He took our drink ours while we went over the menu. Another young gentleman was busy directing staff and checking on existing customers. I assume was the manager or owner. He made sure I got my lemonade when my server forgot it. As for food my step dad ordered the chile relleno, cheese enchilada and taco plate, my mom got the ribeye asado tacos, my brother decided on the Rib eye steak while my sister in law and I got the Surf and Turf plate. My step dad had issues with his meal. There was still a good amount of seeds in his chile relleno which made it unbearable to eat and his cheese enchilada was mush. Mom enjoyed her tacos and my brother enjoyed his ribeye steak. Both his wife and I loved the Surf and Turf which consisted of skirt steak, grilled shrimp and a stuffed pepper. Overall everyone enjoyed the food except my step dad. At Least the manager/owner and our served checked up on us. I had the ribeye steak the first time here. And honestly I think they season and cook their steaks here well. I look forward to returning and recommend this place to others. read more
