I have found a little hair in my food the last two times I've come here. First time was in a taco and second time was in my daughter's rice. Honestly I expect to be more impressed by all the great reviews. The food was good, not great. The carne asada tastes like plain steak(no marinade or anything). Chicken was also kind of plain. I had to go up and ask for a refill on my drink. You have to pay for chips and salsa. I guess maybe you have to want all the toppings on the tacos or they don't have a lot of flavor. The salsa that came with the tacos is good and definitely helped. Over all it has a good vibe. It's definitely nicer then most the Mexican restaurants in Yorba Linda. read more

I love when I have a craving for something (tacos) and I turn to yelp for suggestions and yelp kills it!!!!! This was my first time trying Que Vida and it did not disappoint! The MASA tortillas are out of this world, I could've just put a little butter on them and eaten them plain. I ordered the Carne Asada taco and shrimp taco, both were fantastic. The Carne Asada was great quality (and quantity) the meat was super tender and very flavorful. The shrimp taco was also delicious, the mango salsa was spectacular. We arrived before 6 PM so we were able to order a couple of items from the happy hour menu. My mom got two Carnitas tacos piled high with delicious tender pork Carnitas) we also had the nachos which were delicious. I'm not sure what they did with the onions on top (pickled maybe?) but I could've eaten a whole serving of those with a fork. The service was great the guy who took our order was super friendly and helpful. He broke down the menu (they have a lot of options) and also explained which were à la carte items and which were combo plates. I already can't wait to share this place with my family and friends! Que Vida Happy Hour is one of the best in the area! We tried the $7.95 margaritas, $10.50 Que Burro Mezcal, $8.50 tacos, and $7.95 birria fries. Everything was freshly made and pretty good. The portions were decent considering the prices, but I was disappointed when my tortilla crumbled while eating my carnitas taco. We sat at the bar and had fantastic service from a variety of staff members. They were all so welcoming when we mentioned it was our first time there. Tequila is the only spirit served here, in addition to a few beer and wine options. It's not a large restaurant, so it filled up quickly by 6:00pm. Bar seating is limited (about 10 seats). Order at the counter, receive a number, and a runner brings the food to the table. Nothing fancy. Prices on the regular menu are high for basic Mexican food, so I will only be returning during HH. Parking was plentiful. There is an entrance on Lakeview that may be easier to enter/exit for some folks than the one on Imperial Hwy. read more

It was truly and memorably delicious, even in a part of CA lousy with amazing Mexican food options! The chile relleno was tasty enough that I might order it on its own next time - often the chile is thin and overly stuffed with cheese - this chile relleno was hearty and flavorful. My family began devouring the carnitas tacos and kids meals before I could even consider a photo! Fancier than expected while still authentic and good value. I found this place after looking for something that had small bites. When I walked in, there was a great big sign advertising Taco Tuesday, and wouldn't you know it? It was indeed Tuesday! I asked the cashier for his recommendations for the three taco meal, and he told me to try to carnitas, fish, and calabacitas tacos, which I did. They were all great! We always drove by and wanted to visit Que Vida after they replaced the original Mexican restaurant that was here. Finally was able to order to-go via their online app. Super easy to navigate and user friendly. We came in and I wished we just stayed to sit down and eat. Husband said he's been driving past this place for awhile and has been curious, so we ordered dinner online and he picked up the food. It was ready in less than 15 minutes. We each had a combo plate and the total came to just under $40 for both of us. His plate was with a "shrimp gobernador" taco and a chicken taco that had esquites on it. He liked both of his choices, however, I don't know why they are calling the shrimp taco a "gobernador." I LOVE gobernador tacos, and this ain't it. What they are serving is a beer battered, deep fried shrimp, with cabbage, crema and salsa. A true gobernador is almost like a quesadilla since it has so much delicious, melted cheese, chilis, and grilled shrimp. He did say it was a good shrimp taco though. I had a birria taco and chicken suizas enchiladas. I didn't realize it would come with two enchiladas, so this was a really large combo plate! I thought both the birria and the enchiladas were very tasty. Their rice and beans were pretty bland and didn't bring much to the dish. I did like their red salsa, it had good flavor with a small kick. We're definitely glad we tried Que Vida and I can see us getting lunch/dinner here again. read more

So happy to have a craft cocktail, upscale Mexican restaurant in my Yorba Linda neighborhood! Tucked into a small plaza with limited parking is my new go to restaurant, Que Vida. Definitely not a "destination Mexican restaurant" like Javier's or Palmilla's (which I also love), but intimate & vibey. Tortillas and even the salt on their margaritas are made in house. Since it was taco Tuesday, we tried 8 of the 9 tacos. All were fresh and jam packed with yumminess, but our faves were the birria and the pork in the banana leaf. You can tell they use high quality ingredients, but the flavor wasn't as good as some of the hole in the restaurants we frequent in Santa Ana or DTLA.
