Carne Asada taco and shrimp taco
Marci M.

I love when I have a craving for something (tacos) and I turn to yelp for suggestions and yelp kills it!!!!! This was my first time trying Que Vida and it did not disappoint! The MASA tortillas are out of this world, I could've just put a little butter on them and eaten them plain. I ordered the Carne Asada taco and shrimp taco, both were fantastic. The Carne Asada was great quality (and quantity) the meat was super tender and very flavorful. The shrimp taco was also delicious, the mango salsa was spectacular. We arrived before 6 PM so we were able to order a couple of items from the happy hour menu. My mom got two Carnitas tacos piled high with delicious tender pork Carnitas) we also had the nachos which were delicious. I'm not sure what they did with the onions on top (pickled maybe?) but I could've eaten a whole serving of those with a fork. The service was great the guy who took our order was super friendly and helpful. He broke down the menu (they have a lot of options) and also explained which were à la carte items and which were combo plates. I already can't wait to share this place with my family and friends! If you've never been, I highly recommend it!

Que Vida Happy Hour is one of the best in the area! We tried the $7.95 margaritas, $10.50 Que Burro Mezcal, $8.50 tacos, and $7.95 birria fries. Everything was freshly made and pretty good. The portions were decent considering the prices, but I was disappointed when my tortilla crumbled while eating my carnitas taco. We sat at the bar and had fantastic service from a variety of staff members. They were all so welcoming when we mentioned it was our first time there. Tequila is the only spirit served here, in addition to a few beer and wine options. It's not a large restaurant, so it filled up quickly by 6:00pm. Bar seating is limited (about 10 seats). Order at the counter, receive a number, and a runner brings the food to the table. Nothing fancy. Prices on the regular menu are high for basic Mexican food, so I will only be returning during HH. Parking was plentiful. There is an entrance on Lakeview that may be easier to enter/exit for some folks than the one on Imperial Hwy.

Carne Asada taco plate and Al pastor tacos and guacamole

Food 6/10 Service 8/10 Ambiance 10/10 The carne Asada tacos were the best thing I ate and they needed more seasoning, the pastor tacos were not good at all tasted undercooked, chicken tacos needed seasoning, burritos were good, the salsa and guac were spicy and delicious also the bar tender was kind and attentive. This place could easy be a 10/10 more salt and seasoning in the meats.

This is a type of restaurant that you order first at the register and then sit down. They had a good selection of food. The tacos were really crunchy I wish they could've substitute with a soft taco. The seasoning on the shrimp, asada and pastor was great! The place was clean. The staff was super attentive and courteous. They dnt give u salsa and chips its separate. Get the sampler. Lots of parking and free. Def coming back.

Ordered Que Vida Tacos for the whole family and everyone got what they wanted. The food was good overall and hit the spot. The only small thing for us was that the guac had too much tomato for our liking. Other than that, we enjoyed it and would definitely go back.

The ambiance is nicer than expected based on how it looks on the outside and the staff is very nice. But the food just wasn't flavorful and the combo plate came out slightly warmer than mouth temperature. We gave it a try because local people had been talking it up. But I'd much prefer to go to El Cholo instead in Anaheim Hills. El Cholo's price is comparable; it's full service;, and the food is more flavorful.

Chicken wet burrito - massive and so good!

First of all, YUM and yes, def get food from here. To-go pick up service was very friendly. I appreciated their amicable communication and smiles. The wet chicken burrito was huge and absolutely delicious. The creamy sauce added a unique, flavorful twist. The shrimp salad was also a hit, with fresh ingredients and a satisfying portion size. I would def come back! :P

I found this place after looking for something that had small bites. When I walked in, there was a great big sign advertising Taco Tuesday, and wouldn't you know it? It was indeed Tuesday! I asked the cashier for his recommendations for the three taco meal, and he told me to try to carnitas, fish, and calabacitas tacos, which I did. They were all great! The food was fresh, the salsa it came with had a slight kick to it, and the tortillas were filled to the brim with ingredients. I also ordered an horchata, which had free refills. Definitely a good find.

It has this dark but classy aesthetic and I was not prepared for that (in a good way). This restaurant has been here for about 2 years with different ownership and menu so I was excited to see what they had to offer. Hugo helped us with our order and he was very friendly and professional. We went ahead and ordered the ahi tuna taco, pork belly bao, garlic fries, the margharita pizza, the yuzu lobster pasta, and for drinks I got the virgin burning thyme. My friend got that and other drinks as well. Ahi tuna taco - 5/5 probably the best food item for the evening. The tuna was fresh, perfect amount of kick in its sauce, and the outter shell was perfectly crunchy. I think them replacing the shell with wonton was exceptional with the texture. Every bite was extremely satisfying. Pork Belly bao - 4/5 everything was delicious. The bow itself is bouncy and moist. There wasn't anything special about the sauce inside with the pork belly, but I would definitely give it a try at least once. A great portion with your friends or family as an appetizer. Garlic fries - 3/5 It was a bit underwhelming, but nothing horrible. I could not taste the garlic at all, but the fries itself was cooked to perfection with the outer being pretty crispy and inside being soft. Margharita pizza - 4/5 I really like the crust and the breading of this pizza. It was crispy and the pepperoni was cooked to perfection. I really like the small pepperoni because it gives an immense amount of flavor in each bite. The cheese and the tomato sauce was fine, but nothing special. Yuzu lobster pasta - 4/5 I wish I was able to taste more of the Yuzu since that's in the name of the dish, but I could not. If it was just called the lobster pasta I would say it's amazing. The tomatoes were perfect to lighten the entire dish with the heavy sauce and the pasta. The lobster was cooked fine. Other than that it was fine, but I would say either enhance the Yuzu flavor or remove it in the name of the dish. Burning thyme - 4.5/5 I really like the acid and the balance of sweetness and sour in this drink. Usually, I get skeptical when I make an alcoholic drink version because the bartender tends to over sweeten the drink, but this was not the case, and I enjoyed it a lot with our food.

After arriving to 46, we were able to sample 4 different specialty drinks and choose one of them. And seated at our table. If you're a party less than 4. You will be joined with another party. Initially, it may feel awkward however after the icebreaker. It works! They have a nice food menus. The dates and burger were delicious! Besides the speciality drinks they also have a full bar so I opted for a regular old fashioned and it was delish! Since the speakeasy can hold a max of 16 ppl, service was superb and attentive. Pricing was reasonable for what it is. Note: service charge (tip) is included. I wish they would have told me. It was dark and I didn't have my glasses. Also after 2 drinks.... I added another 20% on top of that. I didn't even notice until I got home. But what is done is done. Would I return? yes! We enjoyed it so much. When making reservations a $25 deposit is required per person but will be applied to your bill day of visit. The hostess was very kind upon check in and took us to the back where the 46 door is. She provided us a code and explained the time limit along with house rules. We were then told to knock on the door and proceed with the experience. Kudos to the owner as this is the only speakeasy in the OC that has a true speakeasy feel entrance. They had a gentleman open the peephole and ask for the entry code. Once we said the code we entered a really cool mine shaft area. The attention to detail was on point and I was impressed! We were then taken upstairs to a private bar where there are four tables of four so a max of 16. This makes sense as to why reservations are hard to come by. The only ding about seating is you are sat with strangers it is not a private table. Luckily we had a fun older couple at our table so it made the conversation more lively. Otherwise don't go here with an expectation of an intimate/ private date night. They also offer a limited food menu but looked very promising. However, we were here for a night cap so just dabbled in drinks. The bartender had a seasonal menu of 4 cocktails he created. He explained the drinks and then had us try each one with a straw. We then placed our order based on what we liked. He did say if we were not a fan he could create us our own personal cocktail as well. The old fashion he created was phenomenal! Overall, a cool little spot in the OC. Do wish they were open later as they do close at 11pm on Friday and Saturday.

We attended a special Chartreuse tasting event at Strong Water which was being held in honor of…read moreChartreuse week and Chartreuse Day 1605 (May 16), the annual celebration of Chartreuse's origins and history. The tasting featured a great lineup of green and yellow Chartreuse paired with small bites. It concluded with a complementary Chartreuse-based cocktail from one of five recipes. Brand ambassador Taylor guided the event and began by telling us about the unique history of Chartreuse. The tasting started out with a small spoonful of Vegetal Elixir Chartreuse to warm up the palate. This is the base spirit of both green and yellow Chartreuse and clocks in at 138 proof. It was surprisingly not harsh, but immediately kicked my salivary glands into overdrive. I didn't even know that vintages of Chartreuse was a thing, but Taylor walked us through tasting three different vintages of both yellow and green Chartreuse, and it was surprising how different they were. The lineup concluded with more rare varietals of the green elixir 1605 and yellow cuvee. Great job, thanks Taylor! Chef Kling presented each small bite which included a crispy Icelandic cod, a roasted beet crostino, and a lamb slider. All of them had a five star list of ingredients and were delicious. Strong Water is known for their excellent cocktails, but their food is also great. For my cocktail at the end of the event, I had the Bar Flower (Green Chartreuse, Crème de Cacao, Pineapple, Lime). This was so good, with the herbal and chocolate flavors perfectly balanced. It was served with a flaming lime half. This was such a great event! Chartreuse retails for around $100 a bottle, and the higher-end varieties cost even more. At just $45 per person, this event was an amazing bargain. Strong Water frequently hosts great events, so keep an eye on their social media for upcoming dates. I really love Chartreuse, so I went back a few days later on the last day of Chartreuse week to try a few of the other limited time cocktails. I started out with their twist on a Grasshopper (Chartreuse, Crème de Menthe, Chili Liqueur, Crème de Cacao, Cream, Cane, $22). This was a great classic Grasshopper, but the Chartreuse added a herbal complexity, and there is a dash of heat on the finish from the chili liqueur. Next I had the Flare Gun (Yellow Chartreuse, Overproof Rum, Italian Bitter, Lime, Cane, $20). The yellow Chartreuse definitely comes through, but it's softer and has a light sweetness, unlike the green variety. Even though it contains overproof rum, it is perfectly balanced and not boozy at all. I usually don't like bitter drinks, but the bitterness was at a perfect light level. I finished off with the Tales from the Black Lagoon which is my favorite drink here, and it's also a favorite of many of the bartenders. All three cocktails were a home run. Chartreuse is an expensive spirit, so those drinks cost a little more than average. Shout out to Karen, Joey, Edgar, Jordan, and Ying for excellent hospitality, as always. Strong Water is our favorite place. We can't wait to go back!

The tuna poke, blue fin on crispy coconut rice, and the falafel were all great. The tuna poke was probably the favorite as it came with a delicious slaw that was perfectly dressed, with some siracha and avocade crema for dipping. I had the "Billionaire's Bacon Wedge Salad" which was a great start -- it was delicious -- my bacon was "borrowed" by every person at the table. For entrees, we had the skirt steak, jidori chicken tacos, ora king salmon, and the chicken romano. All were great -- with the crusted mashed potatoes another highlight. Our server Steph also did a great job -- which was great to see as service had been an issue on previous visits years ago. I'm very glad to see a local family doing well with this great neighborhood spot that is serving up really quality food, great communal food energy, and what was a great looking wine list (Dry January prevented me from imbibing). We look forward to coming back and trying some of Chef's creations (Camel Chili !?!?!)!
