Holy smokes, this is the best Mex in town! We ordered the El Grande sub Asada, Que Rico plato, corn esquites, birria tacos, a pineapple margarita, and Pacifico on tap. Everything was absolutely superb! You can really taste the quality of their house-made tortillas and house-marinated meats. Plus, the portions are huge! The restaurant was packed, and it is easy to see why. The vine is super cool with lively high energy social atmosphere! Since it was so busy, we initially ordered our food to-go because there were no open seats. However, the coolest guy at the register (I forgot to ask his name!) went above and beyond. He asked us to wait a moment and personally got a table ready so we could dine in. His phenomenal service, knowledge, and great personality truly topped off our experience. I have found a little hair in my food the last two times I've come here. First time was in a taco and second time was in my daughter's rice. Birria tacos are great just like the ones I had a while Back in AZ. Staff is nice, fast service. Beans and rice seasoned perfectly. They have a very spicy salsa that I loved. Birria tacos are very rich made with slow cooked short ribs so you may want only one to start with. The cheese in the tacos was nicely melted with some crunchy cheese on the outside of the tacos. I grabbed a quick bite for dinner here before an event at the President Nixon Library recently. Honestly, the taste and authenticity of this establishment was stellar. The only drawback is that the food was quite fatty and tasted really bad for my health and I was starting to feel a bit of issues in my heart due to the amount of fat in the cheeses (which were out of this world delicious, like authentic Mexican cheeses). My #1 food priority is to eat only the right foods but at a price point that is in my budget. I wasn't expecting the quesadilla to be this cheesy and fatty, but it was quite an experience and I respect that they sell the real stuff here. I love when I have a craving for something (tacos) and I turn to yelp for suggestions and yelp kills it!!!!! This was my first time trying Que Vida and it did not disappoint! The MASA tortillas are out of this world, I could've just put a little butter on them and eaten them plain. I ordered the Carne Asada taco and shrimp taco, both were fantastic. The Carne Asada was great quality (and quantity) the meat was super tender and very flavorful. The shrimp taco was also delicious, the mango salsa was spectacular. We arrived before 6 PM so we were able to order a couple of items from the happy hour menu. My mom got two Carnitas tacos piled high with delicious tender pork Carnitas) we also had the nachos which were delicious. I'm not sure what they did with the onions on top (pickled maybe?) but I could've eaten a whole serving of those with a fork. The service was great the guy who took our order was super friendly and helpful. He broke down the menu (they have a lot of options) and also explained which were à la carte items and which were combo plates. I already can't wait to share this place with my family and friends! Que Vida Happy Hour is one of the best in the area! We tried the $7.95 margaritas, $10.50 Que Burro Mezcal, $8.50 tacos, and $7.95 birria fries. Everything was freshly made and pretty good. The portions were decent considering the prices, but I was disappointed when my tortilla crumbled while eating my carnitas taco. We sat at the bar and had fantastic service from a variety of staff members. They were all so welcoming when we mentioned it was our first time there. Tequila is the only spirit served here, in addition to a few beer and wine options. It's not a large restaurant, so it filled up quickly by 6:00pm. Bar seating is limited (about 10 seats). Order at the counter, receive a number, and a runner brings the food to the table. Nothing fancy. Prices on the regular menu are high for basic Mexican food, so I will only be returning during HH. Parking was plentiful. There is an entrance on Lakeview that may be easier to enter/exit for some folks than the one on Imperial Hwy. read more

This place looked promising from the outside, and when I walked in, I liked the cool vibe. Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment. I ordered the shredded chicken tacos, and they were at my table in less than 10 minutes. The tortillas weren't hot at all, which immediately made me question whether these were actually made to order. They tasted and looked like they had been pre-made and reheated...possibly even microwaved. The excessive amount of cheddar cheese was especially off-putting. It had that strange melted-then-hardened texture you get from low-quality cheese. There was also very little chicken...maybe a tablespoon in each taco. The chile relleno platter was even worse. The plate arrived covered in what looked like red mush. The red sauce tasted like a cheap canned sauce, and I couldn't understand why the chile was completely smothered in it. When I finally found the chile underneath, there was no egg-batter coating, no cheese inside, and the chile itself was hard rather than properly steamed or softened. I came in expecting legitimate Mexican food and really wanted to enjoy this place. I was even considering ordering an alcoholic drink, but after the food arrived, I was glad I didn't. If you're accustomed to Mexican food prepared in a more traditional, authentic style, this probably isn't the place for you. To me, this felt much more like bar food with a Mexican-inspired menu than the real deal. read more

Honestly I expect to be more impressed by all the great reviews. The food was good, not great. The carne asada tastes like plain steak(no marinade or anything). Chicken was also kind of plain. I had to go up and ask for a refill on my drink. You have to pay for chips and salsa. I guess maybe you have to want all the toppings on the tacos or they don't have a lot of flavor. The salsa that came with the tacos is good and definitely helped. Over all it has a good vibe. It's definitely nicer then most the Mexican restaurants in Yorba Linda. read more
