There aren't many Tex-Mex restaurants, so thankfully this one is really good! Everything is excellent starting with the chips and salsa. I love the decor too. And the service is great! Our waitress was even honest about something I was ordering, and I ended up really loving it! She even said she'd take it off our bill if I didn't like it, but I ended up wanting more! During the pandemic, we ordered takeout almost weekly, and they were always so kind and consistent. While so many restaurants keep raising prices, Blue Agave continues to serve high-quality food, generous portions, and amazing value. Their homemade margaritas are incredible! I just went for the first time was honestly shocked at how good this place was. I wasn't expecting good Mexican food in Yorba Linda! My friend is vegetarian and she really wanted spinach and mushroom enchiladas with mole sauce, which they made happen. And she said it was really good. I had the fish tacos, and they were so good! It was only 2 tacos but they were big and very filling. Our server was Janelle and she was seriously amazing. So kind, and fun! She recommended the house margarita, which was delicious. Was craving some Mexican cuisine and decided to give Blue Agave a try. The staff was very friendly upon our entrance and the hostess sat us right away. I noticed that the restaurant was clean and has ample seating. Some sections look great for large parties. There are a lot of options on this menu. It was hard to decide on which plate to order. I settled on the chicken mole enchiladas, and it was fantastic! This dish really hit the spot. They were very generous with the amount of shredded chicken in the enchiladas, and the moly sauce complemented the chicken enchilada perfectly. I asked to substitute the rice with veggies. The veggies were sautéd zucchini and bell peppers, and had a nice buttery flavor. I definitely would return to this restaurant. I look forward to trying my next Blue Agave dish. read more

I wish I reviewed this sooner. Blue Agave has been my family's favorite Mexican restaurant for years! We first started going here when it opened in the 90s and my Aunt who lived nearby recommended it. We had been fans ever since. It is so sad to hear the news that it closed, so many memories and celebrations we had here. We always loved the combination meals with the chile rellenos, tostadas, enchiladas, black beans, rice and corn. Also, the salsa was the best, flavorful and had great texture! There were great margaritas they served too. The service was always excellent and attended to our needs promptly. Thank you George for creating and managing such a great restaurant! Unfortunately this restaurant is extremely overrated. When I came with my group of friends, we were sat down quickly, but it took a long time for a waitress to introduce herself and ask us about drinks. When the waitress brought out our drinks, there was a plastic lid INSIDE my friend's coke. I don't even know how that happens. That took a while to be addressed since she didn't check in on us often. (And yes we were still charged for that coke). The food itself was nothing special, but that is just my opinion. Before my friends and I left for the night, we were in the lobby waiting for someone in our group to finish using the restroom, and we overheard the restaurant manager, I believe his name is George, talking to one of the hostesses at the front in such a disrespectful manner (he used a personal attack). We were all shocked that he would blatantly behave like that in front of customers. My friends and I had already decided we weren't going to come back, but after witnessing that our opinion of this restaurant was solidified. This place is located near my sister's work so she picked us up food for the first time when she came to visit. Wowww is all I have to say. The food is so fresh, tasty and everything we ate was so flavorful and fresh. We ordered the fajitas plate, a coconut shrimp and chicken skewers plate and the barbacoa beef enchilada plate. The sweet corn cake that comes on each plate is soooo yummy and brings a nice balance to the savory flavors. My mom who is extremely picky and not really a fan of trying anything new LOVED the food and even ate the leftovers the next day, which never really ever happens. Friday meet up, we stopped Blue Agave and so glad we did! We been eyeing this place but always opted toward eateries in Brea. I think we found a new favorite hangout in YBL. The hostess immediately seated us in a nice corner booth. The interior was much more spacious than I thought. There were probably a nine booths, several handful of tables and also some outdoor seatings. The menu selections are awesome -- and my friend was impressed with the dozen flavor of margaritas!!! The endless chips and salsa, as shared by other Yelpers, are heavenly. I was embarrassed to ask for 3rd round of chips! I ordered the chili relleno combo - and instead of taco tostada. Our server offered me double the chili rellenos! I've scored....and the place already warned my heart. The chili relleno "casserole" was topped with fresh mango salsa. The side of rice, bean and scoop of corn hit the mark. We shared the flan for dessert but that was too much. Obviously, we were so stuff that we stayed for over two hours (to help with digestion so we're not rolling out of our booth). The waitstaff were just so cordial, nice and didn't bother to rush us. Looking for a nice taco/enchilada dinner, but what we got was flavorless. Like eating a big nothing!! No flavor, no spice. Service was good (as always). Ambiance hasn't changed at all in the past decade. We go to Blue Agave periodically and the food and service are always great. I usually get fajitas or the carne asada but I felt like trying something different this time. Our server described an off menu steak special dish and all I heard was steak so I said I'll try that! It turned out to be a steak picado and I've never had it served like a soup and it was so good! Afterwards I asked what all was in it and it was skirt steak, onion, garlic, cilantro, pasilla peppers, tomato and white wine. Every bite of steak was soaked in yummy goodness and there was plenty of liquid to dip the rice and tortillas in. I really enjoyed this dish. The corn cake is always great and gives you a little taste of dessert without having to order a separate dessert, especially if you are full. My girlfriend had a two item combo with a tamale and cheese enchilada which she enjoyed. The chips and salsa were great as usual and we asked for seconds on both. What a disappointment Started out with a very nice server but quickly went south Ordered and got beverages had to ask three times for something , made our orders we're not really attended to after that time though the server periodically check in , we watched people eat , get their bills , others waiting for their bills. We watch two groups / people come in after us and get food and or leave . Then after 40 minutes spoke to the server who then realized and went to check on our food. Another 10 minutes. My family has been eating here for 4 generations. My grandpa loved the corn cake from here, my mom loves the skirt steak, I love the carnitas, and my daughter likes the crispy tacos. It's a great place. Fascinating decor. The wait staff are very attentive. The food is excellent. Decadent Spanish dishes with lots of interesting fresh flare to them. I've loved everything I've tried. But my go to is carnitas. And be sure to ask for extra corn cake. So yummy. The only complaint I have about this place is no matter where you are sitting inside the sound just bounces off the walls and ceilings and it's so loud. I have had catering from Blue Agave before, but this was my first time dining in. The service was great!! Our server went back to the kitchen a few times to see if we could modify our dishes to make them more vegetarian friendly. The food itself was honestly pretty disappointing. First, my mom and I ordered enchiladas, and both of our plates came to us with cold food. A different server took it back for us to reheat and thankfully the food came back hotter. The enchiladas were kind of bland, and the cilantro lime rice also seemed to be lacking in flavor. The beans were the best part of our dishes, which was pretty disappointing.
