    Cauliflower Steak

There are not too many places in the immediate area like this. The only other place similar would be The Summit House. You could throw The Cellar in the mix, but I'd rather not. That place feels dated and claustrophobic, so I don't like to recommend it. If you are looking to go to a more upscale place with better service, then check this place out. In any case, I've always have great experience coming here. The food and service is always great and consistent. This is definitely a place that caters towards meat eaters, less than vegetarians, but there are options for us non-meat-eaters. I usually order the Cauliflower Steak, which is one of the best that I have had. The beat salad is also very good. They have a bunch of sides you could also order to get you through the meal. But don't expect any entres that cater toward vegetarians. The menu is all meat and the specials were all seafood. The drinks here are what you expect to find at a place like this. I always get the Old fashion. Its good, but nothing to write home about. Pricing is what you would expect. Its a nicer restaurant so expect to pay. Glasses of wine are around $20 dollars, but the pours are generous. We arrived at 5:20 PM on a Saturday evening and found seating at the bar. Didn't have any reservations. YMMV.

We've always considered ourselves regulars at Chop House and truly love the experience, but unfortunately, today really soured that for me. We had a 3:30 reservation and were seated early, ordering three appetizers (caviar, the special fried rice, and bone marrow) along with two entrees. While the bread and caviar arrived promptly, we were left waiting roughly 40 minutes for our hot appetizers to follow. During this time, a table seated after us was already deep into their main courses. A manager did come over to apologize and mentioned internal issues in the kitchen, and while we appreciated the transparency, we expected a bit more in terms of a resolution at this price point. When the rest of the apps finally arrived, we were so hungry we just dug in. I had specifically asked the waitress for the mushrooms on the side of the fried rice, but they came mixed in anyway. I didn't even bring it up because we were just too hungry to wait any longer. After some more time passed, we asked if our entrees were close. Our waiter then asked if we still wanted a "traditional three-course progression" for our meal. Under normal circumstances, absolutely! But not after a 40-minute gap between the cold and hot appetizers. At that stage, the pacing was already non-existent. The final straw was seeing tables that arrived way after us already settling their checks. We completely lost our appetite and decided to cancel the rest of the order. They were very gracious about it and only charged us for the caviar, which we did appreciate. This has never happened to us here before, but at a high-end steakhouse, you're paying for consistency as much as the food. Tonight fell extremely short of that standard. I left very disappointed, especially since we always order caviar and some form of steak. I really hope they can fix whatever internal issues are going on.

I went back again and sat at the bar this time which was a real treat. The bartender had such a great personality and made it fun. There are tvs at the bar. I had the scallops, crab cakes, Brussels sprouts and toffee pudding. Everything was incredible. I also had a Mai tai that was soooo goood and strong imo. The owner is a gem, he walks around socializes and makes everyone feel so special. I love this restaurant. I will be coming back as there are more things I just need to try!!! It is somehow a mix between fine dining and family style. Idk how to explain it but it's amazing

We couldn't find a reservation so we chanced it on a Friday night. They offered open seating at the bar - if sitting in the back behind the bottles, it's full service. Fortunately, when we arrive, they had two seats available at the bar area so we were seated immediately. Our servers, Sam and Andre, were very attentive. They greeted us almost immediately with water. And got drink orders in a timely manner. My drink was not very good, hence I don't remember the name - something something Fist (Strawberry with tajin). We also had an old fashioned and that was delicious. The tomahawk was tasty, well cooked. The barbecue shrimp was full of flavor, the bread helped absorbed all the yummy goodness. The brussels sprouts were crispy and soft inside, as I expected in a Brussels sprouts. We had a nice time and def recommend.

Ordered steaks, bunch of sides. Brussels sprouts and potatoes were my favorites.

Took my father and sister for their birthdays, this place is amazing, everything you order will be on point. Great service busy or not, food comes out to perfection. Price matches food and service. I would come back again.

Had diarrhea after eating raw oyster. I had to stop whatever I was doing and go to the restroom twice this afternoon. The first abdominal pain came about one hour after lunch.

they really looked at this and thought it was ok to serve

TLDR: food gets worse and worse every time I visit, reservations required First of all, I have zero complaints about the service. In fact, everyone is so kind and professional. My qualms are with the food. The vegetables are never properly cooked or seasoned. The steak is burnt and cooked to a wrong temperature. The dessert is poorly made and served without a care. My cake was clearly collapsed and not of a quality I expect at a $$$ establishment.

We have come here for drinks a few times before. We decide to have dinner here before improv show next door on a Sunday evening. Place was packed and very loud. We got seated next to bar area so it was rather cramped. The menu was classic steakhouse food. We decided on clam chowder, chopped salad, chilled lobster, filet mignon, whole branzino, potato au gratin and key lime pie. For beverages we had hot tea, sparkling water, champagne and martinis, also espresso shots. The food was very fresh and delicious, portions were good as well. They offered us a little dessert for our anniversary which was nice. One of our servers was a sweetheart, she did most of the work taking care of us. The other just took orders and dropped check, he wasn't the most friendly. Overall we liked the food but not service. It was not up to upscale steakhouse standard. Not sure we will be back for another full meal!

Came here for a Sunday brunch as there wasn't too much of a crowd during that time. There are parking structures that are nearby that you can park for free. I did see a parking lot in the rear of the restaurant but was unsure if it was valet I elected for the crab benedict. They actually had a fair amount of crab in the middle of the benedict and the sauce on top wasn't thick so it was pretty good. The side salad was great as it was a refreshing side to the benedict. I did order a side of shrimp as well. The service here was really good, as they come by regularly to refill water. The food does take a bit to come, but all the food for the table does come at the same time. Would probably come back again, as their dinner menu varies a bit

We had a fantastic dining experience at Old Brea Chop House in downtown Brea. This restaurant truly captures that classic, sophisticated steakhouse atmosphere, making it perfect for a special family dinner. As expected, both the steak and the fish were perfectly executed. The filet mignon was cooked flawlessly and was incredibly flavorful. My Chilean Sea Bass was fresh, flaky, and beautifully prepared, proving this spot is just as strong on seafood as it is on chops. The manager was genuinely friendly and took the time to come to our table and get to know our family, which is a personal touch you rarely find. The entire team provided premier service, making us feel welcomed and valued throughout the meal. If you're looking for an elevated dining experience in North Orange County with top-tier prime steaks, fresh fish, and a service team that treats you like family, Old Brea Chop House is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Came here for a business lunch and was very impressed. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and clean. You definitely need a reservation otherwise you're gonna have to wait a while. I had the lobster grilled cheese and it was absolutely amazing!!!!! Our table shared various sides which was very good. And I had the bacon steak....OMG!!!!!!!! It was a party popping off in my mouth. My mouth was happy and stomach was happier. Definitely get this as an appetizer to share. You will NOT regret it. This place knows what they're doing and our servers Josh and Josh were amazing!!!

You know a place is good when I don't capture all the photos. I started to and then all the food looked so good that we all dug in without thinking of taking anymore photos. I'm vegetarian so this is mostly a vegetarian review. We came for brunch, which ends at 1pm. I got the Benedict and subbed the meat for avocado. It was good. Their soft boiled eggs are so good. I THINK their Mac n cheese is cooked in bacon fat. That was a bit of a bummer for me but I know it's silly to go to a steak house as a vegetarian so I'm thankful for their other options. They even offer cauliflower steak and a bunch of sides you could choose from. Beat salad was good but a bit strong with the onion/garlic (not sure what it was-but maybe it's because I'm more sensitive since I don't eat onion and garlic). ** I'm editing this to add that the Mac n cheese is in fact vegetarian and was so good that it tasted like it was cooked in a rich fat but it was smoked Gouda!** :) Their raspberry drink was really good. I had it as a mocktail. With alcohol, they make it taste so yummy you barely even know the alcohol is there. My friends loved the half shell oysters and their steaks. They said oysters, especially the vinegar, and the steaks here are the best. Service was amazing by anyone involved. The owner Oscar was also super sweet and attentive. I loved that. Parking was okay during the day but I hear it's pretty difficult in the evening. However there are plenty of surrounding lots. If you get lucky, you can get parking in their lot. Otherwise there's valet for $8 I believe. Our whole party of 4 had to be present before being seated. Overall the whole experience and the taste/quality of the food makes me want to go back tomorrow. I'll be back for sure.

Guinness isn't just another draft beer; it needs to settle, and it should be served in a proper tulip or Guinness glass to get that classic presentation. The fix is simple: slow the pour down and train the staff on the traditional method. The pub has the vibe. Now it just needs to respect the pint.

When we arrived for our 6:00 PM reservation, the hostess let us know it would be about a 10-minute wait and while we understand that holidays can be busy, we had made a reservation specifically to avoid waiting. Shortly after, we and a few other parties were asked to sit at the bar with no additional context as to why we were waiting. We were offered complimentary champagne, which was a thoughtful gesture and definitely appreciated, but we were on a tight schedule as we were set to catch a movie afterward so we just wanted to be sat. Once we were finally seated, we overheard that someone had vomited and our table happened to be right next to that area, which was quite off-putting. During service, my friend and I also noticed the staff seemed very overwhelmed--servers were discussing table confusion and food routing confusion within earshot of our table, which made the experience feel a bit disorganized. This became especially apparent as we waited quite some time between getting our appetizer and our starter, which ended up reaching our table at the same time as our main course. For dessert, we ordered the butter cake, but the texture and flavor was more like cornbread so we put it off to the side. While we were waiting for our check, our server briefly placed another dessert at our table before realizing it belonged elsewhere and taking it away, which just added to the overall sense of disorganization. My friend and I truly don't mind spending $200+ for a great dining experience, but our total came to about $250 and, unfortunately, the food and service really didn't meet our expectations to the point where we ended up discarding most of our meal. For context, I've also visited the Tempo Cantina location across from the Brea Mall, and my friend has been to Tempo Geisha once previously. We decided to give it another try because the atmosphere and location are fantastic and very convenient for us. However, we were ultimately disappointed this time as well. I share this feedback in hopes it's helpful, not to bring the restaurant down. We genuinely love the concept and energy of the restaurant and hope to see improvements in service flow, communication, and food consistency in the future because we really would love to come back and have a great experience!
