Nice upscale steakhouse on the corner of Birch St and Brea Blvd. It has a nice look inside, and the space is good for for various events. Service was top notch. We had an issue with the temp of the steak and we received a new steak, and they made sure to check on us to make sure all was well. One of the highlights that surprised me was the gnocchi. It was fantastic and I would go back for that alone! Great experience.

1/5 - seafood tower with king crab, oysters, and prawns. The king crab is overly salty at some parts and some of ends were very fishy. Not worth the $175 4/5 - clam chowder. Came out warm. Pretty standard flavor. 2/5 - garlic mashed potatoes were salty and pasty. The potatoes were overworked 3/5 - broccolini still had the raw vegetable flavor in some pieces 5/5 - best dish do the night. We asked for medium rare. It came out more on the medium side but was still very juicy and tender. 5/5 - Chilean seabass. Cooked perfectly always a good choice. 2/5 - 16 oz New York strip. We asked for medium rare and it came out medium well. I started eating the strip on the thicker side and it was still medium at that point. Once I got closer to the center it was dry and gray, no more pink. I mentioned this to the waitress and she agreed it was medium well. Oscar the manager came to apologize and instead of offering to take the steak off the bill, he asked if he should take just half off. I'm assuming he was insinuating that I had already eaten a portion of it. I told him he can do whatever he wants. At this point I think, he realized how rude his question was. He began apologizing profusely and shook my hands several times. Managers are the one that usually fix situations, not make a situation worse. Food rating for this visit is 4/5, but when you factor in Oscar it's a 2/5 experience. I really like this restaurant and I'll probably be back. But, next time I'll have to cut my steak down the center to ensure my steak is cooked correctly.

Came here for lunch at 1 pm on our 38th wedding anniversary. The place was practically full of well dressed business types. Even the staff were impeccably dressed. We were seated right away in a booth. We ordered their prefixe lunch for $45 for two - choice of Cesar or mixed green salad and several selections of sandwiches (chimichurri steak, prime rib, blue cheese burger or old chophouse burger). We chose the Cesar salad. Hubby had the blue cheese burger with crispy bacon and I had the chophouse burger with melted cheddar, lettuce, onion and tomato. Before our orders arrived, we were served a lovely small plate of vege crudités ( purple cauliflower, snap peas, baby radish, baby carrots, pearl tomatoes and a yummy ranch dip. The burgers were thick and juicy! Oh my! They came with a ginormous amount of fries and ketchup. We were super pleased with the perfectly cooked, thick and did I already say juicy patty? Oh, they surprised us with a beautiful dessert to top of our celebration. Our servers were also so nice and friendly and attentive. The classy ambiance, superb service and delicious food truly made our budget friendly celebration special.

Love the speakeasy-vibe entrance after entering the front door! Almost missed the actual entrance lol. Parking is a breeze as there are multiple free parking lots/structures in the area as it's located in Downtown Brea. Our party dined at OBCH for lunch on an early Friday afternoon. I'm glad we made reservations, as the lunch rush was looking decently busy. However that didn't affect our dining experience whatsoever, as the service was great! And food was yummy for a modern/trendy American restaurant. Highlights were the Brussel sprouts, filet mignon, and the cheesy potatoes.

Back again and in addition to my favorites I tried the bacon steak (phenomenal) and Caesar salad (delicious). I also tried the berry bomb drink (like a raspberry lemon drop, this may be one of my favorite drinks). I also tried the coconutz which is like a piña colada with whiskey. It was good, more on the sweet end. I preferred the tart freshness of the raspberry drink. Really appreciated the bartenders recommendation on this :) I went for my bday and they gave me a lil bday treat. A delicious chocolate pudding. I really love this restaurant

My first visit and I was very pleased. The ambiance of this restaurant is nice, calming and intimate. Staff was wonderful, and very attentive. The steaks were delish, we did the filet and the NY Strip. I wasn't overly thrilled about the sides. They were ok, but none that really stood out, if I'm being honest some were a little salty. BUT, the Oysters were DELICIOUS. I will be back for drinks, the bread basket, a steak, oysters and a salad... can't forget the butter cake!!

My brother took the whole family to Old Brea Chop House to celebrate. == FOOD == We each got a steak. I got the 6 oz filet mignon. My parents got other cuts of meat, iirc my aunt got a 16 oz rib eye, and I don't really remember what my brother got. We got some sides: the brussel sprouts (11/10), the wild mushrooms (8/10) and the creamed corn (9/10). We also got 2 desserts: berry tart, and a sorbet. == SERVICE == The waiter and staff were all very nice and friendly. We asked for to-go boxes, and she even labeled everyone's boxes for us. == AMBIANCE == The inside is very bougie. We were seated at a booth in the middle of the restaurant. The bar on the side is very nice as well.

Food was amazing, the service was amazing. Our server Bo was great. He was very attentive, he sold us on the lobster bisque and lobster roll. It delicious. The rest of food so good as well. Very satisfying. Can't wait to come again soon.

Steak was prepared well - we typically order medium rare. Warm red inside and crispy outside. Bone marrow always adds bonus points for me. Service is elevated compared to your typical restaurant - waiter spilled drinks on our shoes and there was no compensation except "we're sorry". That's fine. Ambiance was classy, dark and well lit at the same time. On par with any modern steak house. Would return again.

Great vibes at the chop house. It's dim inside during dinner if that's your vibe. Not particularly mine but I get it. I got the prime 850 dry aged ribeye. Seasoning and the cook was spot on with a nice crust. For sides we got the ricotta gnocchi (8.5/10), wild and field mushrooms (7/10), broccolini (8.5/10) and crispy Brussels sprouts (9/10). We overdid it on sides as the portions are family style. 2 sides would have sufficed.

Excellent steak house that really does give you the "old, classic" vibe and ambiance. Staff are dressed to the nines and very clearly well-trained. The proteins (ribeye and short rib) were cooked perfectly. My only gripe was that my mashed potatoes weren't very creamy nor flavorful, but as leftovers were soaked in the short rib juices and became exponentially tastier. I definitely would return for special occasions.

Great service - beet salad is great and bbq shrimp as an appetizer is a must. Note the steaks are all seasoned or marinated, ask for details upon ordering in case you want a basic steak! Elevated place for special occasions or nice meal out

Do they serve the full menu at opening/lunch time? Looking to come in for my birthday and need to book a reservation. Thanks

    Yes we do!

Do you make your own carrot cake? It's very good

Our carrot cake is home main house.

Does OBCH offer Happy Hour again yet? It says they do in the about section from the owner?

Apologies if the statement was not up to date we are not currently offering happy hour. Our full menu is available at the bar top all day though. We hope to serve you in another capacity soon

He made the reservations online with Nine Social but when he got the confirmation, it said for Macallans so he called and spoke to the manager and we got a table here. Wine list was extensive and since he knew a lot about wine.... I told him to just choose for me. We did a pinot noir to start and then went to a cab. The cab was great! I ended the night with a moscato. I ordered the mango tango and he ordered the wedge. Both delish! The mango tango had that sweet and salty blend perfectly. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse. It was really good! Service was excellent! They let you try the wine before you order a glass! They checked on us constantly and were really attentive. The place had an older feel to it and it's quaint. I like the coziness of it. They had live music going on and Tom the pianist did a great job! He sang to me when Tom was playing. Super sweet! Tom came over to introduce himself and told us about music nights and there will be singers there. We love this place so much we stayed until closing time. We were the last ones to leave! We were already talking about coming back for when the singers will be there. Our first time here... And definitely won't be our last!

Their front of house focus is the wine bar, but they also have a good cocktail and martini menu, as well as a nice selection of food items. The interior is warm and cozy with two different seating areas. The larger front area has bar seating, quite a few tables, and a lounge area in the back corner with several couches. There is another area in the back which is smaller, and houses their cocktail bar and a number of two seat high top tables. You can order anything on the menu from either area. We sat at the bar in front for some Sunday evening cocktails and small bites. We started out with the spinach & artichoke dip ($15). The dip came out very hot, was a big portion, and was very good. However, the menu said it came with toast points, but instead it was served with tortilla chips which were just ok. The advertised toast points or fresher tortilla chips would have made this appetizer better. My first cocktail was the Limoncello Martini (vodka, fresh Limoncello, lemon juice, $15). I usually love anything lemon and this was a good martini with light lemon flavor. She started with the Purple Martin Martini (vodka, raspberry puree, pineapple, $15). This was another good martini with light sweetness from the raspberry and pineapple, not a sugar bomb. We wanted a little more food, so we ordered the Caprese flatbread ($18). It was a good size, and the dough was great. It had a good amount of cheese and tomatoes, and I really liked the balsamic drizzle on top. However, it did not come with the basil that was listed on the menu. Next, I tried the Peperoncino Martini (vodka, Italian Peperoncino brine, black pepper, extra virgin olive oil, $15). I loved this, one of the more unique martinis I've had. She liked her sip so much, she ordered her own for number three. Her second cocktail was the Carmel Apple Martini (carmel apple vodka, Licor 43, lemon, star anise, caramel cube garnish, $15). Most of the time, you would expect a caramel apple martini to be a sugar bomb, but not this one. The flavors were great with a light sweetness. And who doesn't like a caramel square treat? For my last one, I had the Cinnamon Sleigh (bourbon, cinnamon spice, maple, orange twist, $15). This was a good sipping finisher with light cinnamon notes and those great orange aromatics. KJ was our server, and she was very sweet and friendly. We came early in the evening and it was a little slow, so we chatting with her quite a bit. I'd take a half point off for the two food items not coming with the listed items, but rounded up to five stars overall. The bill had a 3% charge added for using a credit card. They have a music trivia night on Thursdays which would be fun to try. We enjoyed our first visit here, and will definitely return again.

They have a lot of Hardy British food such as fish and chips and shepherds pie. My boyfriend has gotten to Shepherd pie in the past and it was good just a little bit different than we expected. The pastry was crispy and the sauce was creamier. The fish and chips were delicious. They tend to have different types of entertainments throughout the week. Definitely a place you can come watch sports or hang out with big groups. My husband and I came in on a weekday, a little before 8 for dinner. There were probably 5-7 parties throughout the restaurant and 2 people at the bar. No host at the front. Servers working at bar and a server walking around. No acknowledgment from staff or even a glance our direction. We decided to wait a few more minutes, if no one helps us we will leave. A few minutes later, a server quickly walks from the back. He grabs menus and takes us to a table. I liked that the booth was huge for just the 2 of us. I didn't like that the restaurant was pretty empty and we were seated by the bathroom and in front of the kitchen. Our server was Bryce and he was nice. We ordered: Steak fajitas - read a lot of reviews about this and it was just okay. I'm not sure what I was expecting. It's definitely a serving for 1. The steak was tough, but the veggies had flavor and cooked perfectly. The tortilla was also good. I ended up eating the veggies with the tortilla without the steak. It comes with small ramekins of sour cream, guacamole & the black bean salsa - which was more like a purée. Deviled eggs - so, I love deviled eggs. If it's on the menu at any restaurant, I always order them. These were very runny. The flavor was good, but the texture of the yolk was like baby food. I wouldn't order again. Grilled cheese & soup - this was good. Very cheesy. I thought the glasses for the drinks were cute. I drank about 1/2 my coke and noticed the glass was dirty with specs of food, both inside the glass and outside. My cloth napkin also had stains. We are local, so if our friends wanted to come back, we might try it again, but this would not be my first choice.

The pork was crunchy on the outside and soft+succulent on the inside. I can see myself doubling up on this appetizer the next time I come. Dirty fries were great; it came with a generous amount of pickled onions - providing a really nice contrast to the savoriness of our meal. Our waiter graciously accommodated our request to have the egg on the side. Off the entrée/taco menu, my friend ordered the Korean tacos and I got the Ensenada (fish) tacos. But you can also order the Ensenada tacos with shrimp. These were delicious, I would have loved a little more lime crema to go with the fish - but not a big deal. I got a Watermelon Margarita. I wasn't expecting it to be HUGE, but it was the perfect amount considering how much food we as a pair ordered. My friend ordered the La Toxica table side cocktail and one additional mango cocktail.
