Kind of a random pick for us, but after the wife had been so many times with her friends over the years, I finally had a chance to visit the Cedar Creek Inn. What a treat! For an appetizer this morning I ordered calamari and a shrimp cocktail they were generous with the shrimps, and the calamari had to be one of the top I've ever had. For breakfast, I ordered crab scallop cake Benedict ....boy was it good! I also ordered a bloody Mary that came with a large prawn , it was also delicious. Not gonna lie it could've used a little more vodka... We ordered the Nestlé tollhouse pie and we also ordered the coconut cake for dessert, no pictures of that, though. Delicious all the way through and through and the service... Couldn't have asked for a better server! I'll be back for sure. Give you another chance to earn your fifth star. read more

really wanted to like the place because the staff was very nice and welcoming, but alas this is a food review and i must stay true to...their food. we ordered the ahi tuna sashimi, angus hamburger with cheese, and the soup of the day which was clam chowder. first, the ahi tuna sashimi. what prompted us to order sashimi at an american restaurant was a mystery, and a mistake. right when it came out, the sashimi did not look fresh, and the condiments looked like the main dish instead of the sashimi. there was a huge platter of wasabi in the middle, but no amount of wasabi could save the fish. it was brown at parts and the cut was not what sashimi should look like. we voiced our concerns to the staff and she was kind to switch it to the calamari instead. although the calamari was an upgrade from the sashimi, it was still terribly soggy for a fried dish. the clam chowder and hamburger were not bad, although there was nothing special about the taste other than the fact that it looked like what they are and they tasted how you would expect it to. the meal also came with bread on the house, and it was alright too. it was a little too oily, but the taste was decent. all in all, maybe we should've ordered different dishes but food was mildly disappointing while service was excellent. it seems like a gathering for the elderly and families as the interior is cozy, there are weekly activities like line dancing that are pretty interesting. read more

I have been coming to Cedar Creek for prob 10 or 15 yrs. The venue is beautifully, full bar, happy hr and outdoor patio that allows you to unwind and enjoy the live music,( I believe live music is Wednesday thru Sat however you can check with them to be sure. They have a casual dining area besides the bar n Patio, along with rooms to rent for special occasions. I like to wear dressy Casual when I visit. The Salmon and rib eye are amazing. They have a nice menu. Happy hr specials are $10. selective appetizers, pesto pizza(my fav) and Nicois salad with pieces of salmon, Beef Tacos are amazing also. I usually fill uo with a salad $10. n appetizer crab n scallop cakes $20. however full menu is offered also. I love this place !! The staff are amazing, especially Genevieve. Just tried this place as part of OC restaurant week. Went here for lunch and was surprised how crowded it was as the restaurant is in an office building complex. I have to say that the food was decent but nothing really stood out. I do have to say that for the price they did give large portions. I spoke with our waiter who was a little overwhelmed with the rush, but he noted that their French dip sandwich is their best thing on their menu. It was always great place to dine for one , two or a group. Food was perfectly prepared and delicious. Parking is easy for accessibility. The servers were very nice and prompt. Second time is the charm. Walked in and the host was very clear with instructions. No reservation but they're all booked so only front patio or bar area left to sit for first come first serve. The server was also more knowledgable this time. Knowing we came for a coupon they knew which food qualified to be redeemable. Manager remembered us from last time we came. Steak on point. Fiancé loved this experience much more. Although it did take awhile for steak to come out (~20 mins) but I am assuming it is because they had a big party going on. Will definitely come back!!!!! We went recently there for bridal shower and the wait staff was very nice and helpful but unfortunately the food was not as good as it use to be. What was up setting was your bartender. We has several people that don't drink alcohol or were pregnant and we asked if we could order mocktails and the bartender lost his mind with us and snapped back that he doesn't service that!I also asked if I could order a glass of champagne and he told me I had to wait until I was seated at my table! We always have the best date nights here. The sliders are the best ever. We recently tried the zuni rolls for the first time and we are hooked!! I ordered the French onion soup and the fish and chips. We did order the coconut shrimp as a appetizer. The waitress was amazing she did a great job. It was one of best I've had. The French onion soup was a disappointment. It didn't have much flavor and the bread they used didn't work for me. We ended up at this location for Mother's Day to celebrate my wife with two of our adult children. The ambiance was nice, and the service was attentive. We ordered the vegi omelet, eggs Benedict, and French toast. The omelette and Eggs Benedict were acceptable, but the potatoes that accompanied both dishes were less than desirable and not really edible. The French toast with fresh berries came with bacon that looked so meager, that they should be embarrassed to charge $26 for this meal, as well as there were exactly 3 berries served with the one piece of French toast. All in all, the server was sweet and pleasant, but we won't be planning on coming back to this establishment. My one and only visit here is when we recently attended a retirement party for my sister. The set up was in a private back room area that supported around 50 people (I think). It was a great venue for this! There were several long tables to accommodate everyone. They served several delicious appetizers buffet style, and there was also a table with salad and fruit. Plus an open bar. No one went hungry or thirsty. There was enough room to set up a screen for a slide show. Though I was warned that the food here was only so-so, I didn't find that at all to be the case. My rack of lamb turned out to be supremely juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. Don't get me wrong, it's very hard to mess up lamb when the meat itself is top tier, but I've seen places where it's been dry, bland, and a total waste of money, This was the opposite of that; every bite killed. And that salted caramel ice cream pie was a rock star dessert. The portion was huge, the combination of flavors was huge, and the impact to my contentment and well-being was huge. That was a much-needed respite from the stresses of the day. The service was pretty good, but nothing too impressive. The place was reverent and comforting but not bourgeois. The ambiance was like visiting a funeral home and having a feast inside. As aforementioned, I was expecting something average coming here but got something more substantially memorable in all the best ways. To be honest, I'm not sure why our family had never been to Cedar Creek Inn! We recently went as part of the Dine Brea event and were blown away by the tastiness of our food. We all ordered the pot roast and it was honestly glorious. We started with the French onion soup which was legit. Enjoyed our main, and finished off with a slice of their famous coconut cake. I'm not a coconut fan but trusted the waitress when she said she felt the same way about coconut but LOVED this cake. I'm glad I listened because it was SO GOOD. I went here for a birthday celebration and while the staff was superb the food was not as up to par as expected, especially for the price. Drinks were delicious and reasonably priced! However, the seafood fettuccini was extremely bland and thrown together. The scallops and shrimp had zero flavor and everything tasted like it had been boiled in water. Even the presentation of dish felt thrown together. On the other hand the Cedar Plank Salmon was delicious, the honey maple glaze really saved the dish. The best part of the meal was the coconut cake dessert. Overall the staff and ambience were great, but the food was mediocre. Especially for spending about $370 for 4 people. It makes me sad to leave a bad review, but I hope they work on creating dishes that are packed with flavor and are held to a higher standard comparable to the price point they are requesting. read more

We visit Cedar Creek Inn once in a while and decided to come back for Restaurant Week as they had one of the better valued offerings. The inside of the restaurant looks nice with lots of stacked stone on the walls and high wooden ceilings that give it an open feel. We were greeted by our server Tom who we immediately recognized since was our server the last few times. He provided great service once again and is a memorable person. We ordered off the Restaurant Week menu and I started with the house salad and she had the French onion soup. I really enjoyed the salad as it was a good size and had a lot of candied walnuts, blue cheese crumbles, and small chunks of apple. It also had just the right amount of balsamic vinaigrette. The French onion soup was unimpressive. It looked like a bowl of broth with no onions with a slice of bread with some melted cheese on it thrown in. You usually expect to see a nice gooey layer of melted cheese covering most of the top of the bowl. Next up was the entrees. I upgraded to the swordfish for an extra $10. It was a nice thick cut of fish and was cooked perfectly throughout and served Greek style with feta cheese and tomatoes on top which I enjoyed. I had a bite of the wild rice which ok but it had an almost grey appearance which kind of made it unappetizing. She had the cedar plank salmon which was good but the potatoes were luke warm at best. The same veggies were on both plates and were just ok. I'm not sure if they were fresh or frozen. For dessert, I had the coconut supreme cake. The cake was nice and moist and not overly sweet and the sweetness of the frosting was just right. She had the Toll House pie. It was a small slice but it was very dense and very sweet so it's a good thing it was small. The main dining room has a lot of booths and there are round tables placed in the space between booths. The table next to our booth was empty until right before we left. When a large party was seated there, the table was so close it felt like they were sitting in our booth. And when we went to leave, we had to have some of the people at the table get up because it would have been impossible to squeeze out of our booth. Overall my food was pretty good and hers was just ok. For this visit, I would give 3.5 stars but I rounded up to four stars since we have had better meals here in the past. read more

Getting back to healthier eating so I ordered the brown derby Cobb salad and cannot believe how disappointed I was. It had no flavor! We were a party of 10, so I was very understanding. The food was delicious, and I was really glad I ordered the seafood fettuccine. My dish had so much flavor. I literally ate the whole entire plate in one sitting. Our server was very sweet. She really tried her best to check on us. I just wish that there were more people do help her. This place serves really good food, so it really makes up for the slow service. Many people that attended the gathering told me that they go to this place on a monthly basis. First of all, service was horrible. We had a food allergy and the server pretty much did not care or was indifferent to it. I had to repeatedly ask him to hunt down the ingredients, so we didn't have a disaster. He was very nonchalant about the whole thing which in my book is very careless. The food was very traditional, non-exciting and pretty bland. It is pretty dark in the restaurant and the decor very rustic. We sprung a surprise birthday celebration for a friend, showing up with other former work colleagues. So the excitement level was high. Elizabeth, our server, did everything right making sure everyone was happy, keeping the pace with our meals being served in a timely manner, making sure they were perfectly prepared and served hot. We ate fish and chips, salmon, prime rib and New York steak, and the fabulous French onion soup. We are foodies, and picky, so expressed how much we loved the textures, seasonings, quality and generous portions. Finishes on wood turns waxy and gets soft from the cleaners. Usage of only Vinegar and hot/warm cloths to clean & disinfect will extend the lifetime and is sanitary. (Classics Refinishing & Reupholstery) in Orange [Top Tier quality]) The "early bird" bar menu is awesome and their desserts are top tier along with an amazing staff from kitchen to floor servers! The bartender Genovese is above and beyond.. and everyone loves her and the new bar help addition gets a hardy welcome! My wife, thoroughly enjoys our Wednesday evenings 4-8pm with Darvy!!! His distinct style makes you WANT to tip his "appreciation jar". Being an early music venue here is a plus for a complete Eve of premium food, drink & entertainment for the non-weekend crowd. Brea, CA : Valentine's Day so it was a prix fixe menu. We got in without too much groveling considering it was Valentine's Day. But I can give a decent review because I've eaten at the one in San Juan Capistrano many times. Cedar plank salmon: It has a maple glaze, but it's very light, not sickening sweet. It was cooked to perfection just fall apart on the fork tender. The sides are just sides, but they were good & tasty artichoke risotto and haricot verts. Porcini Mushroom Filet Medallions: Nicely presented and good flavor. It just was very rare when ordered medium. Because it was a busy Valentine's Day, we opted to not send that back and just toughed it out like a caveman. Herb crusted halibut: Very delicate piece of fish again cooked perfectly. Very good, but I'm more of a fan of macadamia crusted halibut. I will find a way for them to put that on the menu. The service was exceptional and excellent, despite the crowd. I wish I got her name, but she was very well-versed in wines and had two long braids in her hair, so you'll know who she is. We had a little chat about wines and I always say: I know a lot about wine only if I know more than you. She brought me a sample of Unshackled and yes, I ended up ordering a glass. It was chocolatey, Oaky, dark fruit, red blend by Prisioner. I will seek out a bottle at Total Wine. Past meals I've had and loved: Braised short ribs-absolute delish, Meatloaf (HUGE portion), , Fish and Chips-crispy enough and plenty Chicken Papaya salad-refreshing. We went there for a birthday party and were put in there "party" room. I went to the bar and ordered a beer. I tried to pay for it but was told it had to go through the attendant for the room. I was given the beer to take to my seat. Shortly afterwards the attendant gave me the bill; $10 for the beer, was a fee for the room, tax, 18% gratuity (even though I got ordered it and took it back to my seat). Total $13.36. Paid with a $20 bill. Received change of $6. I was charged 40% over the cost just because I was in their "party" room. Should have sat at bar and ordered a drink.
